Top one looks better. What are the render times?

both around 4 minutes but in carrara we don't have mamita naked (I apologize for nudity I noticed just now); in thea we notice a sort of azure haze that interacts with shadows and shaded areas; we can do that in carrara as well

So no significant time difference... Or maybe Carrara is slower because no nekkidness, but either way these are not time killing renders.

The Carrara image looks more like where I grew up in New Mexico. The sky is very dry and clean.

The other image is more Central California.... LOL

  • Second Annual Kit Bashing Contest WINNERS ANNOUNCED

There haven’t been too many set kit bashes so far, so I thought I’d go all-out with my take on the classic James Bond Villain-type doomsday installation. There are parts of at least a dozen kits integrated in here, and almost nothing is at the original scale intended, but most of the key architectural elements come from the following:

The main walls, supports, piping, elevated platforms, stairs and the ring elements are from GIS Terminal, GIS Nova, GIS Orion, GIS Pro and GIS Sigma, all from Jack Thomalin, the central concrete support structure, some of the staircases and a large amount of the rock strata are from Parkside Point Ground, also by Mr. Thomalin. More of the rock strata is from Alchemy Chasm, additional catwalks, staircases and gantries are from ArtCollaborations’ The Loading Dock and AppleJack’s The Hanger, foreground and far rear structures are parts of Stonemason’s Greeble City Blocks, the elevated conduits are from the Poser 2012 extras and Mr. Sparky’s SF Kit, the two big devices with the glowing blue barrels are actually machine guns from the Poser Spy Helicopter, and the water plane is from… actually, I forget which one I ended up using, but it’s probably from Parkside Point or the Fantasy Castle ground.

Finally, although it’s barely visible, there are a bunch of tiny Genesis figures working the set, all dressed in matching “Henchman Gear” that was built from the Marauder’s gas mask, the Future Cop’s helmet, and the male sci-fi boots (all from the Genesis Classics bundle,) over a retro-spacesuit costume for M3 from Poserworld. (see inset, then see if you can spot some of these guys.)

Shaders used – The unifying elements are the rock texture, which is actually Asphalt from Pimp My Prop, a lot of paint from Khory & st. vincent's Design Tool Box, and the Plasma effects shaders from the Supersuit bundle. A lot of the lighting is also shaders, mostly the blue, green and white plasma glows from the Supersuit. The little workers have a Design Tool box green paint base, metal helmets using a metal shader from Real Metals by DzFIre, and gloves and undersuits that are actually just a Hardcore Utility Shaders metal mesh applied directly on the skin of the hands and neck.

(edited to correct and add content used that I forgot.)

DeviantArt is not letting me upload these on Android for some reason, so I will lump you guys with viewing my renders of my fave "tween"age rampage 70's Glam band lead singer.
That's awesome! Is he the singer from Sweet?!!!

yes, indeed supposed to be the late Brian Connelly.
I am actually rendering a video but refraining from naming the likeness involved, maybe going to try a few of my old idols.
would love to be able to animate that pageboy bob hair that took a bit of styling but shudder to think what "simulate" would do!

Valentine's day for me, hit 50 last year so now they are all coffin countdowns :long:
    but
Hope you and Rosie have great birthdays and a happy Valentine's day!

Y'know, if you happen to be in north central Wisconsin on the Feb. 15th, I could get you into our winter play! ;-) C'mon, Australia's only on the other side of the world!

i'm trying to make logical sense of this thread.

so, it sounds like, Daz doesn't want to be the central hub?

They want another site to be the hub and Daz would then be a satellite on the ring, or a spoke on the new central hub of 3d information yet to be determined?

Looks to me like DAZ wants to get rid of much of what makes it the top site in this market, while remaining the top site in this market. Wishing 'em luck with that . . . 8-/

You know what? Everyone is loosing out this way. Vendors because it is yet again harder to promote new items. Buyers because they lost a central place to get information. Now it's scattered all over the place and much harder to find new stuff. DAZ because a lot of the external items drive people towards DAZ figures, we all know that's the case. What? That outfit is only for DAZ figure XXXX? Man, I've got to get that figure. Also when looking at the DAZ store one gets the impression that all Genesis is good for is erotic images...... Breast movement, seriously? Yoga poses with the tiniest bikini that is allowed? Enviroments with a sensual Genesis that completely distracts? While there is so much more to the DAZ figures, but the venue to show that has been closed now.

There could have been 2 forums, one for DAZ PA's and one for external vendors. But no, as usual in the content world the blunt axe has been used. Chop off the limps you don't like and let's hope the rest will survive, not realising that what's left will slowly bleed to death.

But, in the end we can cry havoc as much as we like, but from history we know nothing will change and the whole being exlcusive will go on and on. I think by now every store selling poser/ds content has become exlusive. And we all wonder why people buy less and less......

Anyway, i wish DAZ all the best, it's obvious that we're not welcome here anymore. Sell you stuff through us or leave, I get the message. Time to move on. time to find new figures to create items for, DAZ doesn't want me to point some new customers in their direction. you don't want to know how many times people have asked, what the figure you use in your promos? What figure are these items for? Every time I pointed them towards DAZ and the Toon Generation. But no more, I've got the luxury of choosing a different figure, since any toon figure is in need of content, but from now on DAZ figures will be excluded from my work..... I get the hint, don't worry.

I was about to post something funny, but I realized I don't feel so funny... well, not ha-ha funny... actually, I'm feeling pretty feral at the moment... I've had a pretty lousy day and on the way home some nitwit rear ended me on the Grand Central Parkway (which is neither central, grand or park-like)... now my rear hatch won't open and the rear facing machine guns are bent...
To top it all off BJ's was out of roasted chickens... now I'll have to eat a frozen road-kill classic or whatever I find in the freezer... Grrrr.
    Stupid world!

My sister got rear-ended at a stop light tonight. No obvious damage, but it hurt her...she is already in pain, and this didn't help.

Why do we drive on the parkway...but park in the driveway?

Well it depends, whos defination of 'sensible' we are going by here? A fashion designer? A Party girl?, A protective mother? or maybe an Islamic fundementalist? :D

Anyway,I never set out to make 'sensible' outfits. Rather, I just make casual outfits based on what Ive seen quite alot of women wear around my city, might not be 'sensible' but thats what Ive seen 'em wearing,
So anyone who doesnt like my outfits (in terms of subject matter) is most welcome to come to Central London and complain to random female shoppers on Oxford street. :P

Your outfits seem pretty accurate to me. I'm based in Houston, but I travel everywhere and your styles are pretty much dead on for urban Texas (Houston, Dallas, Austin,) most of the east-coast and mid-west U.S., as well as Japan and the U.K. California... no, not so much.

Picked this up last night, but a bit disappointed that you seem to be the only vendor to not have a store sale tied to the launch of a new product this week.

  • Theo Jansen’s ‘Strandbeest’

I was thinking about doing some virtual origami and found this
morph targets would be the obvious choice sequenced along the timeline but maybe a boned piece of paper you can fold in many ways a possibility, with weight painted triangulated polygons radiating out from a central root bone.
this would be a cool idea for a Daz/Poser model too. it could be used to pose a sheet in many ways too.

Not that it makes a lot of difference, but could you please list who is judging both the main event as well as the mini-contest? I lost all my notes and misplaced my list of who I have to bribe. Okay, honestly, I've forgotten. I'm just compulsive enough to try to keep track of these things...
