If they covered up the eyes in the movies then the actor could be a total unknown, and not the big star that the audience pay to see.
Seeing as how much of his face is covered by the Batman mask, the eyes are NOT going to make or break recognizing hiim.
Besides, one can tell from the chin and mouth much easier anyhow.

Let's appreciate/discuss today's new releases - more ongoinger threadI'm not complaining about the Cryptid Heroes Outfits--this looks quite faithful to DC's Batman and his fellow knockoff characters. (Of course, I've snagged this before it can be taken down like the Star Trek stuff was removed)
My puzzlement is with DC: I've never understood WHY they even came up with the open eyeholes, especially in the movies, requiring the characters (& actors) to grease-smear their eyelids?? It doen's make for easily switching to their civilian identities as that mess wouldn't be easily washed off--assuming a nearby bathroom sink was available.
The comics frequently omitted the open eye and opted instead to draw them with covering/concealing lenses (which would easily allow for a HUDS to be built into the masks). And after all, such an obscuring feature makes for a much creapier looking figure.
Limited Time Freebies Discussion ThreadSilverGirl said:
Glad so many folks have stuff they're excited over! Definitely not a useful week for me (maybe the hairs on a background distance character?) since I don't use the older figures, but win some, lose some. Maybe next round.
Ironically, I already have the hairs. I expect a certain amount of "Already got that!" The freebies are usually for older figures, anyway. It's nice to see G2/G3 stuff rather than V2/V3 and Poser items of similar vintage. I'm no fan of Star, Cookie, or the weird cartoon horsy things, either. So, this was good.

OK, "Human for the 3D&D Klingon" is up now. Ten full outfits and a human CR2. And some crap hair. Oh, and that pose that's always used in the "this is what all the star trek uniforms look like and I'm obsessive compulsive so I have to draw every one that ever was imagined" pictures you see.

What happened to this link - getting a 404? I am extremely interested in that monster maroon uniform. If anyone knows where I can cand one of similar quality, I'd really appreciate it.
Interesting. Dodger's Klingon and most of the stuff for it is gone from ShareCG.His other stuff is still there. I wonder if the copyright police got it taken down.
If it's the Wrath of Khan era uniform you want...there's a uniform for M4 at Renderosity. "Space Fleet Uniform (M4)"

Thanks, that is awesome info. On my to do list then is to add the thickening product you mention, so that I could try cutting up some of Polish's stuff to see if I could make it work as a set with dungeon master (think that is the name of it, dungeon maker maybe) by Code66.columbine said:XiousDs said:

Anyone think it's worth picking up most of Polish's back catalog that is like 90-92% off? It's a big discount, and the items are pretty old, but Polish has some really good stuff. I just have not messed with the old stuff to know how well they hold up compared to the new stuff.
Polish's older stuff looks great, and it renders like the promos when you use the default HDRI. If you don't mind their quirky way of putting together their models (difficult to kitbash due to missing geometry under or behind things), you'll be happy.
Seconding that ... all of that. Polish builds kits with the second-most "longevity" in my opinion (after Stonemason). In fact you may do better with the older kits. Recently Polish has gotten really bad about the way surfaces are broken up, unusable geometry, no articulation (doors don't open), things like that.
Have you ever tried using Gescon to break up sections of Polish's sets to kitbash specific portions of one? Gescon was on my wishlist and Gescon 2 is out now. With the sale yesterday, since I missed the older Polish stuff for 95ish% off, I got the newer cyberpunk prison, cyberpunk condo, and star frontier sets for 91% off. I am curious how well Gescon 2 would work to essentially let you setup room layouts different or fix doors that don't work. If noone has tried doing such, I probably will give it a go once the price drops just a little more.I bought Gescon ages back primarily for kitbashing--specifically, to make holes for doors in set walls. Unfortunately Gescon does not operate on zero-thickness planes, which many set walls are, so it was of limited use to me (and I didn't discover the existence of Bemar's product Thickener, which among other things specifically addresses this problem, until ten days ago). So I haven't used Gescon as much as I'd like. The couple of times I have used it, it worked very well. I'm avoiding buying Gescon 2 until I use Gescon 1 a bit more--no real need for it just yet--but I note that he's selling it both as standalone Gescon 2 and as an upgrade for Gescon 1. So you could try out Gescon 1 for a while and then, if you liked it, get the upgrade.

Wondering about Sprite and SueYee vendorsYep, SueYee is a friend of mine, and they're different PAs as other already said, and I also agree with Gordig and Drip . Personally I prefer to SueYee's products though I never have to buy them from her...
Celebrity Look-a-Likes for 3D figures Part 4OT: Shannen Doherty Passes Away at Age 53.A sad day, Shannen Doherty star of Beverly Hills 90210 and Charmed has passed away at the age of 53. She had lost her battle with cancer, after spending many years fighting it.
The Incredible Kitbash
Probably my most involved "kit-bash", the engineering deck of the S.P.V Pharsicle, the primary setting for a collection of O.C.s, originally appearing in a web comic I co-created with the late Paul Scott Gibbs titled "Freighter Tails" The comic ran from April 2001 until Paul's untimely death in February 2002. While the concept as a web comic sputtered and eventually halted without Paul's involvment, I still putter the characters, specifically Lt. Mzzkiti, an alien cat-girl, for a few "fans" still dedicated after 20+ years.
Dor this environment, I literally chopped up selected geometries of NightShift3D's Odyssen Station sets, mixing and matching pieces along with some Stonemason elements, the plungers from some 2005 Daleks by Billy-Home, girders ftom an "Evil of the Daleks" throne chamber vy Rob Semenoff, meshes I personally modeled to resemble Dalek upper sections (serving as capacitors), and displacement maps I made, derived from Death Star surface tiles made by JediLaw. (That entire lowest surface is actually a single 4 sided polygon!)
Star Trek Builders Unite 8: THE REBOOTThis may have been touched on before, apologise if it has, But I was wondering does anyone know why the STAR TREK charaters by 3DUK have been removed from RENDERHUB? They are also removed from his DEVIANTART.COM site too, I tried messaging him/her directly a while ago on both sites, but got no reply.
I resally wanted those STAR TREK characters and was saving upfor them all, but now they are gone.
Cheers

Wookie for Genesis 9?Now that Daz3D does Star Wars FanArt product,
I hope there any chance for a Wookie "creature" for Genesis 9?
PA's like RawArt, Josh Darling or Oso3D got characters with fur and would be perfect to create a Wookie character! As long it would have "normal" legs and not the weird monster legs...

The idea of a feedback thread is actually not bad, is it? And it's a concrete proposition that sounds absolutely doable.
Maybe we could have another thread for DAZ to put announcements in concerning things we're interested in but that are atm treated like state secrets for reasons I don't understand. Like the current situation with Mesh Grabber 2 not being released. Does really nobody read the respective thread and see the mounting frustration there? Why not just put out a nice little statement saying, 'We appreciate you looking so much forward to this upcoming product of ours. Unfortunately, there are technical problems and the release will be delayed for at least XX days'? There's often so much secrecy involved that I really don't get.
Daz does discourage PAs from pre-announcing products, in part to avoid situations like this.
I understand that, but if there was just more communication, people would be more understanding, and generally, a little pre-release buzz would actually be a good thing for the PAs and DAZ too, wouldn't it? I so enjoy looking forward to a great new release of an item I can really use, or would just love to have for whatever reason. It's so much more interesting and engaging than just popping in casually to see what's on the menu today.
Also, as posted above, there are quite a few PAs who do participate actively in the forums, as you mods of course know, and I never see any rude or disrespectful or overly hobby-horse-ish interactions going on. People post in their commercial threads to express their excitement for upcoming items, and then after the release they ask questions and post their experiences and renders. These are all very interesting and friendly threads. So the concept of engaging directly with the customers seems not such a bad or tricky one really. Same when DAZAnne or any of the other employees do post directly.
From my own memory, when the Platinum Club existed, one of the perks were previews of new products. The perk was taken away because people would take the proprietary information and post it on Daz's business competitor's sites (the Poser/Daz studio wars were hard). It is hard for people to understand in this internet world but not all publicity is good. Likewise, if you haven't seen the intense amount of work that people like Richard Hazeltine do to prune out the unpleasantness, I ask you to take another look. I have communicated with more than a few P.A.'s since Daz3d found through... other channels, and it is a persistant problem of them having to nuts, creeps, and stalkers.
