Where are you trying to find suitable clothes and hair? There are hundreds of each available in the Daz Store. Anything for Genesis 9 will fit Victoria 9. If you are looking in your library, you will only see products you have purchased. The top you showed on V9 looks exactly as depicted in its product promos. If you want a bikini, look at bikini products.

What is "vidt 8"? Mango Movement is for Genesis 9 characters, not 8. According to the product page, the only pose included is a foot pose.to fit the shoes.

  • How to edit files with .daz extention?

Thank you so much! I found that this is exactly what happened when I launched the .daz file and then saved the scene as .duf. I noticed the new auto_adapted folder. I renamed the folder with the vendor's name and moved the files under a subfolder with the name of the product. I replaced "auto_adapted" in the paths of the .duf file code and saved it. All is working now and I was able to clean up my data folder!

    Thanks for your support!

When you saved a scene in DS1, 2, 3 or 4.0, the mesh data was saved out as DSO files, the morph data was saved as DSD files, and the UV data was saved as DSV files. These all went into the data folder, with DS1 and 2 that was directly into the data folder, DS3 it was data/3_0, and 4.0 used similar.

Now those files are saved into folders that are "meshname_Vertexcount", so if you had saved Victoria 4 in DS1 or 2 then all of her DSO,DSD and DSV would be written into data/blMilWom_v4b_68498, DS3 would be data/3_0/blMilWom_v4b_68498.

As this product came as DAZ/DSO/DSD/DSV files it means you can't move the files in the data folder, doing so will completely break the scene file.

Doing as crosswind suggest wont help your OCD any, as any non native content saved in DS4.5+ is saved into data/auto_adapted/"meshname_vertexcount" as DSF files.

That's not correct ~ Technically and certainly it's easy to achieve the goal of "re-organizing data files by Vendor/Product" with *.DAZ files from old products.

When saving *.DAZ into *.DUF, all geometry data will be saved into data/auto_adapted folder under user's Daz Library, i.e. My Daz3D Library with DSF formats. Create a Vendor folder and a Product subfolder in data folder, move all product data folder from auto_adapted to Vendor/Product folder.

Open DUF file with Notepad++, replace auto_adapted with vendor/product. Save DUF file.

Delete original data folder where *.DSO/DSD/DSV files locate. Load DUF file. Done.

  • Compatible Figures for Environments?

I am a relatively new user. I've been starting to look at purchasing environments and I noticed a lot of them saying they were only compatible with one type of charcater (like Genesis 3 or Victoria 4). I understand this kind of thing for clothing and poses, but is this actually important for environments? Do PAs just list the version they used in the screenshots to be safe, but it's unlikely to cause issues for Gen 8 or 9? Or are there actual reasons that there would be issues putting "non-compatible" characters in a scene with this environment?

  • None of the G9 Makeup Scripts work with MGAB characters I own. Any idea why?

I was playing around with Bonnye by MGAB and, since she didn't come with any makeup, I decided to try one of the makeup sets that are sold with Victoria 9 and others. I spent about an hour trying to figure out why it wasn't working, assuming that I wasn't selecting the right thing (right character part, surfaces, etc) until I figured out that the scripts just don't work on any character using the materials provided for that character (no matter if they were loaded as part of the original figure, or added to another G9 character using the materials application).

I tried one of the more recent ones and it doesn't work either. So, apparently their approach to creating their character's materials are incompatible with those scripts. Does anyone know why? I like the couple of characters I have and was considering buying one or two others, but if they aren't compatible with the other stuff I have purchased, it may not be worth even these discounted prices.

Any idea if there is an easy fix?

  • Children Characters for Daz Studio

    CES3D said:

As crosswind mentioned, items parented to a character generally follow the character's scale, but some adjustments may be necessary.

    Here's an example:
In this example, three props are parented to Victoria 8.
The robot helmet and star-shaped sunglasses are parented to Victoria 8's Head bone, and the gun is parented to the Right Hand bone.
These are just props, not follower nodes.

In this case, these props follow the position and size of the bone they are parented to, but they do not follow the character's shape.
The ratio of the hand bone size to the shape size does not change much before and after applying the Growing Up morph, so the gun follows relatively naturally.
Since the size of the shape relative to the Head bone increases after applying the Growing Up morph, the helmet and sunglasses sink into the head.

In this case, the size and position of the helmet and sunglasses need to be adjusted individually.

Congrats you're getting really close. Google child proportions. Their heads are a little larger compared to the rest of their bodies. Torso length matters. Limbs should be a little shorter. But get this their tongue is larger (from asking too many whys). Ribs are more horizontal. Also they are not toned. They have much greater flexability in poses. Tweens and Teens often reach adult height during puberty.

  • There's Always Another Sale Thread -- Discussions Only Pt 4

aaaaand the 31st is back on the calender - Yay! One more prezzie!

About today though, there has been a bad surprise. I planned for Marion for Victoria 8 to be my present for today, thinking her SKU (47603) and base price ($ 19.95) would fit into the present coding and I like her Marilyn Monroe-ish look. Alas, it seems I was wrong. Seems the item is too old... Instead of her, I got offered a Ninian Outfit (SKU 70247, Base Price $ 20.95), for which I see little use for me and for $ 2.99 I was offered the Cross High-Waist Swimsuit for G9 (SKU 87434, Base Price $ 21.99), which comes without dForce and for G9 which makes it also quite useless for me.

Adding to that, the Holiday Freebie (supposed to change every four hours - we'll see about that) is the Tres Classy Outfit Texture Add-On, for an outfit I don't own and won't buy or need (because G9).

Guess I have to find a more suitable potential present option for tomorrow... Too bad, I really wanted Marion and expected to get her...

  • White Lion Pub Copyright Issue

    mwokee said:

PAs are losing out on sales from people like me. Yes, be inspired by what's out there but make it your own.

I will reiterate, there're about 3500 pubs in London, and many of broadly similar designs in other British cities. There's basically no way to come up with a design that is both authentic and wholly unique.

On the one side we have you saying it bears too much resemblance to a real pub and that you cannot buy something if it's not completely unique (but, if I am honest, you linked a pub that's very different as far as the look of a London corner pub - other than the name, which is one of the most common and generic British pub names) and on the other there are people saying "Ahem, that's not a proper renaissance dress. The neckline is from the 1590s, but the skirt shape is from the 1640s. I'm not buying this trash. Use some proper references, why don't you?"

If the PAs were to try to cater more to you, then the other crowd would throw their toys out of the pram.

Personally (although, again, I am not a lawyer), I do not see any reasonable way that copyright on this is a concern. Even as far as the closest building we've been able to identify, it's a non-exact copy of a building that was originally designed and built while Queen Victoria was still on the throne.

And Perhaps that is  Victoria's Secret  ..  they have swords ..

And extra-dimensional pockets in the bras to put them in.

Here the ones I think I recognized:

    • Promo render 1 (the main one): I don't know
    • Promo render 2: the head and skin are Freja 9 (I'm not sure the body is from Freja 9, but the outfit is hidding most of the muscular part of the character's body)
    • Promo render 3: the head and skin are Olympia 9 (Body is likely Olympia 9 too)
    • Promo render 4: I don't know
    • Promo render 5: Victoria 9
    • Promo render 6: I don't know but maybe Minerva 9 in the middle (she's among the supported shape, and the head looks close to her head)

Definitely slowness. I hate the time it takes to load characters if you have a lot. G8F takes like 40 minutes to load sometimes. I haven't checked with the new beta because I'm using mostly G9, G3 and below with FilaToon lately. I haven't even used G8 in a while because of the ridiculously slow load times and always getting a duplicate formula warning. G9 is starting to get a bit slow to load too now that I have more characters and morphs.

Also, after using DS for a period of time, the dials start to get slow and just adding a hair or clothing item can get slow to load. I have to keep releasing RAM with Norton Utilities or my 64GB RAM gets full super quick. Sometimes it crashes if you use it for more than an hour. Also, finding things! Smart Content is a mess with many missing icons and random organization and misspellings causing duplicate folders like Environment and Environments and so many dials in the wrong place, there's no consistency. And many PAs don't label their icons and in Smart Content you can't tell if an item is for G8 or G9 when there are both because they are not labeled! Because there's no consistency with all the PAs, the app is really a mess if you have a lot of content.

My wife gave me a Samsung 990 EVO Plus 4 TB SSD to store my content on for Christmas this year.  I just finished installing and moving everything Daz related over to it. This includes my entire bloated content library and my InstallManager folder (Downloads, ManifestFiles, Thumbnails)  After some preliminary testing, I can say that this has had a profound impact on Daz Studio and Install Manager content load times,  more so than anything I have done to my system so far.  After launching Install manager, I used to have time to get a cup of coffee and drink most of it while waiting for install manager to grind through the manifest files on my external 8 TB spinner drive. I also struggled with extended character load times in Daz Studio as well, this is no longer the case. The following are my results.

Load Times:  (278 Pages in my Product Library)

    Victoria 9HD - 25 Seconds

    Victoria 8HD - 48 Seconds

    Victoria 7HD - 12 Seconds

Install Manager launch to ready time - 35 seconds  (14,474 products Installed)

The bottleneck in my system was clearly the throughput to my external drive.  Yours may be different.

Mine's about the same. I moved my content (DAZ products library 417 pages, lots from other sites) to a SanDisk Pro 4 TB using Thunderbolt 4 on a MacBook Pro M4 Pro and a Genesis 8 HD character loaded in 11 seconds. More importantly, just scolling through the library has zero delay opening and closing folders.

The difference between this and my normal hard drives is night and day,
