Hi Stezza...I just discovered that Hivewire3D forum was shut down end of July, so thought I'd stop by to say hi...and keep in touch. Sad to see so much work and valuable information lost, but we sure had fun back in the day. I'm in and out of the hospital...being 70 can be a real drag sometimes. Hope all is well with you! -sky :)

  • The "The Weather Changes More Often than the Thread Title" Complaint Thread

On Museums:  During my motorcycle trip around the country back in '95, I stopped in Utah at the Dinosaur National Monument museum.  Inside the main exhibit hall, in air-conditioned comfort, away from the 100F degree July sun, was a long inclined wall of dinosaur fossils neatly, partially extracted for easy viewing in-situ.  There were other complete, assembled skeletons there also, but the wall of bones stick in my memory.  Also, that was the place that I again dropped my motorcycle.sad  I had parked in the paved parking lot, and had put down my kickstand instead of lifting the heavy bike & luggage up onto the more sturdy double risers.  I came out of the museum to find my motorcycle on its side, with it's top heavy assemblage of luggage and camping gear laying askew.  The large BMW was a bear to get upright when unloaded anyway, so I had to remove the extras to get it back upright, then repack.  The sun had made the asphalt soft, and the kickstand had poked completely through, pinning the bike down until I wiggled it free.frown  It was there that I decided that I needed a heavy, flat metal plate to slip under the end of the kickstand to avoid a repeat of that problem.  Soon afterwards I found a suitable piece of iron about 2x3 inches that had a hole in one end, tied a spare shoelace to it, and when stopping on uncertain ground, could hold the string and swing the metal plate down under the kickstand while still sitting, and retrieve the plate easily after getting back on.enlightened  I kept that metal plate with me for all the years afterwards that I had the bike.

The first Star Wars was also a heavy plot rip from Akira Kurasawa's The Hidden Fortress with other lifts from Herbert's Dune, Flash Gordon, and the climax of Dambusters stuck on the end, while C3PO is a blantantly obvious male version of the iconic Maria robotrix from Metropolis.

I would say that "Valerian and Laureline" holds so much iconic similarity to many of Star wars "famours" originals that I always wondered that they were not sued on it.
Just do a search on "valerian star wars similarities" and put on the images...
Perhaps European comic artists are more relaxed about this then American movie lawyers...

When something is centuries old, you can pretty safely assume that copyright will not be an issue

My guess -- and it's only a guess -- is that the updates are intended to make the scripts work in Studio 6 -- were you using Studio 4.24 or Studio 6? Maybe they work in one and not the other version?

The forum moderators get upset when you post the same message in two different forums.   :(

Not in this specific instance. Ask the mods to close this thread and go post in RiverArt's Now Crowd thread. You want to make this as easy as possible for the PA.

    OK.  Will do.

I had just come back to this thread to update that I was using Daz Studio 4.24 on a Windows 10 laptop.  I'm going to explore what happens on another computer that running Windows 11 with Daz Studio 4.24 and 6 but where I have not installed some of the billboard updates.

    UPDATE

I just tried the School Life, Alien Civilization and Modern City Life products and the same error occurs in Daz Studio 6 when I try to run the Change Angle and Orient scripts.  The log file for Daz Studio 6 provided slightly more detailed info though:

  • New Year, New Sales Thread: Report Issues Here 4 "Reporting Only"

Every Monday and Tuesday, the cart price gets double tokens- in other words, on Monday & Tuesday spending $10usd gets me 2 tokens, whereas all other days $10 gets me 1 token.  This has been the case for me since they restarted the Token system again (iirc sometime in 2025, after the initial roll-out of tokens system stopped for a while). As recently as during one or more of the big sales campaigns they were even publicizing on those days that it was a DOUBLE TOKEN DAY in the sales sliders on the home shop page.; i remmber thinkin it was going to be an even more token-y day but it turned out to be nothing but a shout-out to the fact those were double token days. I do recall people posting in the forum(s) about how that was advertisied likeke an extra special those days when it was actually just Monday and Tuesday as normal.
Note: how many tokens you get depends on your tier (base, plus, or Premier) every day of the week; on Monday & Tuesday WHATEVER your normal token rate is, gets doubled.  NOTE #2:  I know this is true for PLUS susbscribers -as I am one- but I do not know positively if double tokens on Monday & Tuesday ALSO applies to Base and Premierr plans since I am not in those tiers.  The page that describes the Token system workings -of course- makes no mention  of the Double Token days, whih means that it could be taken away at any time since it does not seem to be explicitly noteed as a feature of the token system on that page.

What double tokens? Not seen anything suggesting there are any.

Every Monday for at least 6+ months, IIRC.

never saw this...can you tell where this is written, please? Thank you!

LOL. Where is any of this written? Sometimes they post it. Sometimes they don't. But it happens most Mondays and some Tuesdays.

I can't say Rendo or any of the other 3D hobby sites are running without a hitch these days. I also don't think I can get into the details on that. But this here problem is a big head-scratcher, We don't know what's wrong, so we just have to wait patiently and see what develops.

Well, of course there are glitches at any store, but whereas Renderosity may have one or two hiccups a month, the fact that DAZ's near daily issues require a problem report forum thread that's as heavily posted in as DAZ's is pretty telling.  Likewise, Rendo's coupons always work on the products that they're supposed to, there are no high pressure four hour only flash sales with unspecified beginning and end times, and I can't remember if I've ever seen a sale there where the language of the promotional text was so convoluted as to be difficult to understand exactly what is being promised.. very much unlike DAZ.  Oh, and do we want to get into the subject of Cloudflare Errors?  This is not to say that Rendo is perfect by any means, and Rendo's slightly higher prices, their lack of a return policy as good as DAZ's, and the lack of DIM ready product files are three major reasons that I'm more likely to wait a bit longer on purchasing a product over there than I am here at DAZ.  I'm also not crazy about their policy of forcily retiring products that fail to hit certain sale levels, and I know that customers who try to get on the site using VPNs are having issues.  Sill, if I'm ranking the overall pleasurability of the sales experience at each site from this customer's view, I'd say that Rendo usually averages around an 8 while DAZ hovers closer to a 5.

The Maneki-neko is a famous Japanese good-luck cat figurine that features a raised paw, a gold coin, and various symbolic colors.

    Paw Meanings

    • Right paw raised: Invites money and good fortune.
    • Left paw raised: Welcomes many customers and friends into a shop or home.

    Color Meanings

    • White: Brings general happiness and purity.
    • Gold or Yellow: Attracts wealth and business success.
    • Black: Wards off evil spirits and illness.
    • Red or Pink: Protects health or invites love.

Maneki-Neko is a very common item and there are no copyright issues related to its use, unless the Maneki-Neko looks like the one from Pokémon.

I can hardly believe this is a Daz+ product. The whole row of ceramic animals in the back, complete with dogs and mice, is such an exquisite scene. The color scheme perfectly captures the Japanese "kawaii" style. Space-Elsa is now one of my favorite artists.

wow that's really cool to know that something so common isn't copyrighted when just about anything and everything is now days even the happy birthday song this is a really nice looking product with so much in it,

Maneki-Neko has been a prominent cultural item in Japan for hundreds of years, so it really can't be copyrighted except as a trademarked design variant, like the above mentioned Poken version, or how Disney managed to get register trademarks on the designs for their versions of classic fairy tale characters.

Makes The Odyssey look like a stroll down to a local shop! Unfortunately you're dealing with hardware that I'm pretty sure no one else here has ever used or has access to so I think you're absolutely right to take it to a forum where people really do know what they're talking about. Half the battle is knowing which questions to ask and you clearly do - anything I or anyone else could offer is something you are perfectly capable of discovering yourself so, yes, take this to the experts.

Issues with Daz under Linux (and there are potentially many!) we can help with. Thunderbolt-linked eGPUs on a gently ageing Mac with Manjaro... not so much!

    Viel Erfolg!
