Thank you. I've been looking for this link again for ages. I need it for use in the monthly freebie challenges.Dollygirl said:Tramp Graphics said:OK, I have a question. I downloaded a freebie called Jinja 10 a whole back, but I don't have the link anymore, and could really use it. I thought it was on Renderocity, but I haven't been able to find it there, at least not under that name. For an idea of what it looks like, I did this picture of Tommie in her new Furisode within the the Jinja 10 set. I'm also attaching the .PNG image of the set. IF anyone else has this set and has the link to it, I'd be most appreciative. Also, I'm looking for Japanese Tanabata festival lanterns as well.

Furisode, posing sleeves
Well, shortening the sleeves is the easy part. As a test, I just turned off the limits on that morph and set the shorten sleeves morph to 200%. The trick is the textures; they get seriously squashed when I make the sleeve drapes too short. I though about trying to adjust the vertical tiling in the surfaces tab (possibly to .5) but I'm not sure if that would work. The interesting thing about the Tomesode (a formal kimono worn by married women) is that they only have a pattern along the hem of the skirt, not on the sleeves. The only "decoration" on the sleeves is the mon (of which a Tomesode will have 1-5 with the ultra formal kurotomesode always having 5 mon). Without the mon, it's not a proper Tomesode. the Tsukesage and Houmongi are semi-formal kimonos work by both married and unmarried women. So, obviously, none of the xisting textures would work for a Tomesode.SickleYield said:Tramp Graphics said:Hey, Sickleyield. I just recently picked up your Furisode for Genesis for my character Tommie, and it looks great. I've been experimenting with it (before reading the manual, of course), and it got me thinking. How hard would it be to use a combination of morphs and alternate sleeve textures to turn the Furisode into a Tomesode, or less formal Tsukesage or Houmongi so that my married female characters can war it? Immortal Geisha types of Kimonos. I ask because the Furisode is really the only women's kimono available (either free or for purchase) for Genesis.Texturing these was significantly challenging for Fuse and I (laying complex patterns continuously across the seams). Further textures for it from us are very unlikely.
It's hard to tell with them laid out flat, but it looks like what you mostly want is a morph to shorten the sleeves and a hide pose to prevent bending artifacts from the hidden areas. I can coach you through doing that for yourself if you are familiar with a modeling software.
The only difference between a Tsukesage and a Houmongi is pattern placement (Houmongi have the pattern actually crossing seams whereas the Tsukesage does not). The Tsukesage is considered slightly less formal than the Houmongi. All of the existing textures should work for either a Tsukesage or Houmongi. The trick I see is fixing the "swashing" when shortening the sleeves. I'm wondering if that would require special alternate sleeve textures or if simply adjusting the tiling on the sleeves would work. I'm curious because I love that violet texture set, and it would look gorgeous on Maria, but she's married, and thus, would not wear a Furisode.

Novica & Invited Guest Contributors Tips & Product Reviews Pt 4I just recently picked up the Furisode for Genesis from SickleYield/Fuseling, for my character Tommie to wear in Japan. It's a very nice set and looks great on her. Working the sleeves is tricky (hence why it comes with an instruction manual), but it's just a gorgeous piece. For those who don't know, a Furisode (pronounced foo-REE-soh-day) is a type of formal kimono worn exclusively by young, unmarried women when they come of marriageable age for events such as weddings, graduation, coming of age celebration (typically when she hits age 20 in Japan), and tea ceremonies, and also by little girls at Shichi-Go-San festivals. I'd love to figure out how to use the morphs and differnt textures to make it into a Tomesode or Tsukesage/Houmongi (Types of Kimono) so that my married women (like my character Maria) could wear it too.
The Furisode for Genesis is a complete set containing the Furisode, two different Obi, an Obijime, a pair of Tabi socks, and a pair of Zori sandals. Each piece has several gorgeous textures to choose from in a wide variety of colors and patterns. Given who I have wearing it, I chose the blue one with butterflies with the dark blue floral Obi and light blue Obijime.

I'm a gamer and I make art. As you said, it's a hobby that you love -- I feel the same way. I'd be very interested to hear more about your game. I'd be unlikely to have the time to commit to it commercially, but if I'm inspired by your world, I'd probably be willing to render things for free. The issue I've always had with commissioned works is that the images almost always require a zillion revisions until the customer is satisfied with the results. I don't make a living as an artist, so I have the freedom to just make what inspires me. I also happen to own almost all of the content linked above. Anyway, I finally found your email address when I quoted your post, so I'll contact you directly.Good luck!

Very very hard.(with Geta that don't deform when posing).
Very very easy, save them as parented props.
...SickleYield & Fuseling released a Furisode that isn't dynamic. I also have the Kimono Expansion for the old Aiko3 MFD as well. True the sleeves of the A3 one require a bit of extra work when posing, but it isn't impossible.Royloo had a nice kimono for A3 that I'd like to see updated to Genesis or Genesis 2. I would absolutely love to see an update of the MFD Kimono Expansion. However, both the Royloo kimono and the MFD version are more like yukata than formal (e.g. furisode) kimono. (Honestly, I have more use for yukata anyway, in most scenes.)
The SickleYield/Fuseling furisode is a masterpiece as far as rigged TriAx clothing goes, though I still struggle with getting it to look the way I want in scenes. The OptiTex one by Draagonstorm is very nice, as well, if somewhat difficult to use (the usual OptiTex rigging won't work for it because it's too loose-fitting). The addons that allow one to pin sections in place are very helpful. DS users are in better shape at this point with kimono alternatives than ever before, though I will always welcome more options in this area, as my manga characters regularly wear various kimono of different types, and I'll use all the variations I can get my hands on. :)
Geta can be parented to the feet, even if they are distributed as rigged. This is what I recommend for any truly rigid wearables.
I'd like to see some reasonably authentic looking yoroi (samurai armor) for both G2M and G2F... and/or fantasy, contemporary, or futuristic versions. :)
Also, I've been looking for a kyu, or Japanese bow. I had a model at one point, lost it in a hard drive crash, and I've been trying to remember where I found it. I'd love a good Japanese archery set for A6! Like these, please? http://www.flickriver.com/groups/14915331@N00/pool/interesting/
Edited to add: just found a new Japanese bow model at ShareCG: www.sharecg.com/v/76303/gallery/11/Poser/Yumi Yay! :)

True the sleeves of the A3 one require a bit of extra work when posing, but it isn't impossible. No more poser stuff?Users don't care for DSON companion file support, and I, as an artist, am not going to do two program-native versions of everything. Time is money. As Bluey said in the other thread, if it becomes financially necessary of course I'll have to do it; but right now I can't really AFFORD to support Poser even if I cared to.
I do a lot of products with features that depend on features of DAZ Studio itself, so there's that, too. The big bone rigs of Rigged Water, Articles of Punishment, and Tied Up! are all pretty impossible in the other program (let alone the rigging of the Mermaids, the sleeves of our furisode, etc.). I am madly in love with DS's Figure Setup, and it would take a lot more of a compelling financial motive for me to move away from it.
Aiko 6 - what would you see in the bundles?I would also be happy if Mitsu Hair got a Gen2F upgrade. A3 always looked cute wearing it, I'm certain Gen2F would too. Ah... Traditional clothes would be wonderful. We've got that furisode from Sickleyield - very good thing - but let's say more everyday stuff could be a great addition! I think a historically accurate (at least to some extent) ninja outfit would be pretty cool (I could accept a prop set like fans, katanas and those cute umbrellas). Well, now I'm getting wilder... Koi carps! I'd be overjoyed to see A6 cosplaying traditional costumes and playing with some koi carps in a little pond (I guess Stonemason, Dreamlight and Jack Tomalin could make fantastic stuff).
To add some modern touch, perhaps a geek set or even several of those? The Japanese get pretty excited by new hobbies, so clothes like Odd Wear and Dark Moods could be very appropriate - and the PAs could make many textures with silly markings on them :). Lastly, a more serious addition: a mask to protect from all the dust.
I totally agree with my interlocutors that bodysuits, fetish goth lolita dresses and another bikini is a stupid idea. I hope the hairstyles will be reasonable too: the braids for a student (an Asian toddler morph could be lovely), perhaps a bob cut for the geeks. Something like you can see in "Vasabi" with Jean Reno.
Why does DAZ Studio customers like Conforming Cloths better then Dynamic Cloths ?SickleYield said:I didn't realize we could conform and then sim on the fly without the timeline now! It's been too long since I looked at DS dynamics, clearly. I bought Simon's medieval fantasy gear to try it out again.Yes, this is the aspect of the Optitex system that I really like. :) I am still hoping it will be possible to retain this and extend functionality to allow other conformed clothing to be draped, in part because the OptiTex system doesn't allow any autofit or figure conversion or morph transfer (or even size changes).
There are problems with figure conversion and morph transfer, of course, when the result is too clingy and looses the more natural look of the original model. But in combination with projection morphs to avoid all clothing shrink-wrapping on conversion, being able to drape the converted clothes would be ideal, especially for skirts, cloaks, etc.
We would also hope to be able to drape long/wide sleeves, e.g. kimono furisode sleeves, which currently can't be rigged in the OptiTex conversion system (they have to be draped using animation only). Allowing an expanded skeleton in the OptiTex conversion process might help.
I'm optimistic that we'll see improvements in this area in DAZ Studio, and that it won't take another decade, either. We now have two different hair solutions. If there is enough market demand, someone will build the plugin to provide this functionality.

Rooster FigurineHi Tramp Graphics.
I had some trouble with 3 of your links. The link for RamWolf's Morphs goes to a DAZ Discussion Thread but I could not find a link to the Genesis Morphs. I have these morphs and found the link on Share CG - http://www.sharecg.com/v/71161/browse/21/DAZ-Studio/RAMWolffs-Ultimate-Morph-pack-for-Genesis-01!
The Lin for V4 link (Old Woman’s Skin) gives me a file not found error.
The 2nd link for Mochi’s Characters Third down, first column (Monkey figure) takes me to the same page as the other 9 figures.
You have more than enough links to qualify.
Do you want to try and fix the above 3 links?
