My sky domes are pitch black (SOLVED)Hi reserv888,
Sorry you've had this problem, but for people to help I think it would be beneficial if you answer a couple of quick questions.
Since I don't have the Lost World set, what interface changes are recommended?
What version of Daz Studio are you using?
Does the skydome still look black when you render? Sometimes things look wrong in the preview but render beautifully.
Thanks in advance,
Barry. My sky domes are pitch black (SOLVED)Bought The Lost World yesterday and changed the interface settings under preferences as recommended by the producer.
Since then all (not only the ones in The Lost World) my skydomes are pitch black. The light itself is still there but the dome is black. I have returned the interface settings to factory settings but that doesn't do the trick.
Anyone has an idea what to do?
(And NO, apart from this problem I have not been able to make The Lost World work properly...)

Hi Steve, loading LW in DS should take no longer than 20 seconds. Are you really sure you've got the 1.07.03 beta? Or that there is no old LAMH Player beta installed either?

Thank you for your quick reply. Reading through the miniguide helped but opened the door to a lost of new questions.
I did find the "create Lost World.pz3"
To be more precise what is confusing me was that the script that is run chooses between loading the "Create Lost World.pz3" and the "Create Lost World.dsa"
Compare Screenshot
In Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My DAZ 3D Library\Runtime\Libraries\Scene\AM\LostWorld
there are .pz3, .dsa and .duf files
In the product description it says:
•Scenes: (.PZ3 and .DUF) ◦create Lost World
◦create Lost World (no plants)
◦toggle vegetation ScriptBecause of that I was searching around for about twenty minutes for a .duf scene file which is normaly located in the DAZ Studio Formats library.
- - -
Personally I would have prefered to have two different versions. One located in the DAZ Studio Formats Library that supports instancing. One in the Poser Formats library that loads single instances of every plant.
Which leads me to my next question:
How can I load the non instanced "Poser" Version in DS that features no DS shaders and no instancing?
I want to render the scene in Octane Render for DS. Instancing may be working in the next update but for now I would be happy to just wait for about 28 minutes until the non instanced version is loaded in DS.
- - -
Background information:
Maybe this helps to illustrate what confused me.
I also tried to manually open a .pz3 scene file but in the open scene dialogue I could only see the .dsa and the .duf file when browsing to
Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My DAZ 3D Library\Runtime\Libraries\Scene\AM\LostWorld
Compare Screenshot 2.
Now I started wondering why there is a .dsa and a .duf file but the script seems to automatically load the .dsa file when opened in DS.
Is there a difference between the .dsa scene file and the .duf scene file?
- - -
I then remembered that I can import .pz3 scene files by using the import function.
Compare Screenshot 3.
But that also seems to load a DS version because it took not 28 minutes but only about 1 minute and the clay shader was still there in the surface options.
- - -
For the moment I basically just want to do one thing:
Load a version of Lost World that does not use the DS instances and does not feature any DS specific shaders that cannot be read by other render engines.
How can I load the non instanced version with "standard" materials in DS?
With standard materials I mean no shaders. Only textures that work both in DS, poser and any other software like cinema 4D, e-on vue, etc.
Am I trying to do something I was not intended to do?
Maybe support for a non instanced DS version could be included in the Addon? The way I designed it, the .pz3 was meant for Poser users, while the .dsa (which triggers the .duf you mentioned above) had to be run on Studio, the latter using only instances.
In the current release there is no DS version that doesn't use instancing. But, if you need one and you give me one day, I'll run the scripts and make a .duf that doesn't use instancing and you can use on Octane or other render plugins that do not support instancing.
On a side note, Luxus does and it works great with LW.RELEASED: The Lost World [Commercial]Alessandro_AM said:Hello, actually there should be only 1 single installer, which sets up things for both DS and Poser.

I am looking for the .duf version in the DIM and cannot find it.Could it be that something has gone wrong and the Poser and the DS version of the installers were mixed up in the DIM?
Or where exactly in my runtime should the .duf versions be installed?
The only files I can find are placed in the Poser Formats runtime but I was not able to find any files in the DAZ Studio Formats.
The smart content product also features only Poser Formats and not a single .duf.- - -

RELEASED: The Lost World [Commercial]snowpheonix said:Alessandro_AM said:canberra_boy said:Wow, that looks incredible. Poser-compatible by any chance, or DS only?Hi, it's compatible with Poser 2010+ (Dedicated shaders, scene and props for
Poser are provided) and the render results are excellent in Poser too. However, since Poser doesn't support object instancing, longer load times, a 64bit system and plenty of RAM are required to handle such a complex environment (ergo the full Lost World scene).
While the full scene takes its toll in terms of time and resources, it’s of course possible to carefully plan the scene you want to create, and load only the individual ecosystems that are needed and viewable from camera. For example, you might create a scene that includes only the east and west cliffs, the north hill and beach: this way you’ll reduce lot of computer time and resources.I bought your package that went on sale today. It doesn't have any information screens and I can't find any way to load, "the whole scene". I found all the pieces to the scene in a poser folder after searching my entire files section with parts... is that it? It didn't even look like the cliffs had any vegetation that loaded with them... Do we have to load and place each tree individually?
The provided documentation so far doesn't say anything about where the scene loaders are....
NOT HAPPY
Being an environment scene, you can load it from: Library->Scene->AM->LostWorld. There you will find:
- a 'create Lost World (no plants)', which creates only the terrains
- a 'create Lost World', which create the whole set, plants included
- a 'toggle vegetation' helperIf you don't need to load the whole set, you may download individual ecosystems (i.e. a cliff or upland with its own vegetation) from:
Library->Props->AM->LostWorld->ecosystems (DS)
or
Library->Props->AM->LostWorld->ecosystems (Poser)I'll put this info in the mini-guide page.
EDIT: actually that information is already available. Please take a look at this page: http://www.alessandromastronardi.com/the-lost-world/

richardclery1, about the complex water shader, you might want to tweak the Water Opacity and Reflaction/Refraction values (colors too) to get a lot of different variations.

What part of the Lost World does use the LAMH player?
And does the Lost World need authorizations?
Does it use any kind of scripting like the African Village toolkit?
Sorry for asking so much, but I prefer not to buy and give back, even when it is possible ...
I think Superdog wants a warning on the Infinito store page about it not working in DS4.6
http://www.daz3d.com/infinito-1-0(Edited: sorry for crossposting)
Actually Lost World doesn't use/need LAMH.
But, if you own an old version of LAMH, it may slowdown the Lost World vegetation instances upon loading. That is why it's advised, in case you own LAMH, to have latest player update or 1.07.03 beta version. All the ecosystems are .duf's (so no scripting to have them created); there are only two very simple scripts to switch vegetation on/off and a helper to advice when LW has loaded.
Thank you for your patience!
