Beanie & Cecil: bad guy "Dishonest John" and his trademark "nyah-ah-ah!"
The Island that was called "No Bikini Atoll".

I don't remember that island but Colonel Bleep's island was Zero-Zero Island.

How about Hans Conried? How many shows/movies can you name that have him or his voice? My favorite is "The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T"

And aside from television, do you remember the pre-Interstate highways?

Rickety old barns with "Mail Pouch" tobacco advertisements painted on the side?

Huge tire dumps all over the place, visible from the road, many burning?

Huge automobile graveyards, visible from the road, all over the place?

Smog so thick you couldn't see to the end of your street?

Garbage and sewage swirling in eddies in most rivers?

Jet noise so loud that your windows rattled when they flew into the airport?

Unsupervised open-air dumps in every little town that were just back-woods places where the locals dumped any and all trash, glass, metal, paints and chemicals. And it would usually roll down the valley into the creek and end up in the rivers? And the bears would come and scatter the stuff around?

Despite our current problems we have made progress in some areas.

...we lived north of Milwaukee's airport under the approach for Runway "one niner/zero ten". When planes landed (heading south it wasn't so bad, However, when winds were from the north, the planes would take off right over the house. Back in the piston engine days, when a Connie, DC-6, or 377 Stratocruiser flew over over it caused the television to flicker. for a couple minutes. When the first DC-8s and 720s (with the pure turbojet engines) started serving the city, it was thunderous. Even in the so called "fan jet" era later in the 60s it was still loud (727s in particular, which Eastern airlines called "Whisperjets"). When it got extremely cold (below zero), the planes sounded even louder as if they were only a couple feet above the roof..

I remember one afternoon seeing a B-36 take off over the house that had visited the local 440th Air Reserve base. The 440th wing at the time was still using the old Fairchild C-119 "flying boxcars" . The refueling wing had a fleet of KC-97 air tankers (basically 377 Statocruisers that also had two jet pods near the tips of the wings).

To top this off we also had a very busy freight rail line only a block away. The steamers weren't so bad but the diesels were loud and often shook the house. In 1969 there was an earthquake that occurred along the New Madrid Fault which was felt as far north as Chicago and Milwaukee. We all thought it was just another train passing by until a news bulletin came on the radio.

Before the interstate, the major north south highway through Milwaukee between Green Bay and Chicago was Hwy 41, four lanes but with crossovers. West to Madison you took Hwy 18. Everything else in the state was pretty much two lane. As late as 1968/69, Interstate 90/94 through the heart of Milwaukee was still under construction.

Wrecking yards (at least around Milwaukee) had high metal fences.surrounding them.

Smog in the central part of the city was not so much an issue because we usually got a wind off the lake. When winds came out of the south/southeast, we would get smog blowing up from Chicago and Gary/Hammond Indiana (the latter two where a lot of steel mills were located).

A lot of barn ads in the Wisconsin countryside touted dairy products or nearby tourist attractions.

  • IRAY - amazing, but cant find documentation

I'm sorry to bother here, but the reference guide in general is rather a joke.

The available documentation is strongly in need of improvement. Almost all important points are WIP or without really useful information. Well, since how long? But it seems to me that DAZ has no interest in a suitable and detailed documentation for the users.

A complex software like DAZ Studio needs a good documentation from the developers, especially for a public production version and especially for newbies who are no professionals. Actually it can not be that users have a lot to experiment to find out how what works and what it does. Or have to search in hundreds of forum threads and external websites for helpful informations. This is hindering and at some point leads to lose the fun, because you have more to do with trial and error than to come to practical results. It's not everyone's thing to spend a lot of time with this. I think a "normal" user wants to work and not "fumble around" and search the whole day. :red:

No offence meant, but a so called reference guide should be a central technical documentation in detail but not a permanent large construction site with only sparse content. ;-)

Some interesting advice from the National Weather Service around 9:19 CST tonight:

"Advice to pass along to everybody across South Central Texas. If you live in a low lying area...get to higher ground...especially if you live Stay indoors, and if you are placed under a tornado warning, seek shelter in an interior room."

We've had some rough weather come through tonight. No water in my house. Come daylight I'll be able to see if I had any wind damage. Although Austin Energy map shows a large outage which includes me, my lights didn't even flicker. My ham cousin in Hutto has been keeping me posted with updates from ARES and others all night.

    Clever!

Always liked doing these kind of mash it ups. I basically hid the sandy beach from the shore line, but left the rock outcrops to pop out on the walk across water terrain, and nudged the cliff tight to the inclined, and then used this new Shoreline water plane, (which is easily my favorite water I've made to date for DAZ Studio) Just really like how it interacts with the skydome and reflections.

I always thought usefulness is worthwhile for artists to explore possibilities. Almost all of my sets have some individual component building blocks that can be torn apart, moved, repositioned, and used separately with each other or tossed into other sets completely. Not quite a lego set, but hopefully enough versatility to trigger some creative outside the original box visuals,

In this image, I placeed the central part of the Ridgewalk with the CaveWater entrance against the Secluded Shoreline.

  • [Contest] RRRR - Just Random

Okay, I just HAD to go look at everyone's awesome pictures. As always, everyone has outdone themselves! Awesome entries, everyone! Good luck!!

Gopherus #1; Alice Meets The Pollinator - Love the explosion of flora! The bug hats creep me out a little, though, lol. And the Pollinator himself is really quite terrifying!
Azoohouse #1; Makeup Delivery - The real question is... do they guarantee delivery before 10AM? And lovely "painting" effects!
Totte #1; The Aftermaths - I think I saw them at a bar in Milwaukee once... Bonus points for a Great Old One on drums!! (Though I wonder... does he have a lot of groupies hanging around for him? Because it seems like he might be a little intimidating for that.)
luci45#1; The Peddler or Where Do You Get This Crazy Stuff? - Fantastic posing and expressions! (And I laughed out loud at the barefoot lady holding the heels!) Except... now I really want my own dinosaur-powered cart. *sigh*
Azoohouse #2; Fantasy Ball - I hate it when Trolls show up at the ball! Very fun!!
barbult #1; OMG! I hung my wet clothes too close to the fire! - Eeeek! I sincerely hope she brought more clothes, especially if that bikini goes up in flames!
zawarkal#01; Stirrings of the Soul - Rich, dark, and sinister! Love the intense feelings of drama in this.
Gopherus #2; Alice s Naughty Cat - I can totally see one of my cats doing that. Well, you know, if a fishbowl of very tiny people in a submarine was about...
luci45#2; The Weederman Children Discover a Magic Holiday Mirror - Wow! Fantastic use of reflections!! Getting mirror shots done correctly is really hard -- this one is perfect! And way to juggle all those LBs!
zawarkal#02; Urban Jungle - That would be a very effective way of discouraging people from littering! Gorgeous colors!
luci45#3; HarpyWood - LOL! Love the acronym!! You have such a knack for bringing out "attitude" in your characters! Fantastic image all the way around!
barbult #2; Mr. Bunny’s Photo Studio - *giggle* Okay, ANY render with a giant bunny rabbit is fantastic, but when the bunny is being beaten by a model with a handbag, it's truly a work of art!! And bonus points for the awesome thought bubble!!
Totte#2; That wasn’t longbottom leaves - Wow, that made me a little queasy when viewed closeup. Reminds me of the time I... Well, never mind.
luci45#4; Dream Police - The strange dreamtime characters are okay, but the Dream Police are a little scary!! I fear for the safety of the caterpillar! (And I'm now singing Cheap Trick in my head...)
Totte#3; The train trip - Excellent use of “incompatible environments!" Seamless! Btw, I completely missed the naked shower person the first few times I looked at this.
Gopherus #3; If this is a full moon, this must be another haunted house! - A dog manning the balista... Ruh-roh. That could be dangerous!! Fantastic way to use all of those things in one scene!
emsim #1; This is Not the Mount I Was Looking For - The REAL question is: Is it a VERMICIOUS Knid? Because THAT would be an acceptable way of starting off on an epic quest! Fantastic render, too. Really nice, mellow use of color and amazing attention to detail.
Totte#4; A Peaceful game of poker - Er, yes. Very peaceful. Makes me wonder what things look like when there's a disagreement! You did a spectacular job positioning the exploding cards and poker chips, by the way!
TarinaKivi#; Warmth - Very warm, indeed! Just lovely! The colors and whimsical use of your items is really delightful. I'm especially fond of the little girl standing on the monster/beast/dinosaur creature. It reminds me of something my daughter would do!
barbult #3; Jayden’s Ark of Folly - Oh dear! I think there might be a design-implementation flaw in this one somewhere! Love the pairs of critters on board -- I hope they think of something soon! Lol!
totte #3; You did what with the beer money? - An insult to the Beer Fund always results in a battle to the death! For the honor of beer!! Having said that, my money is on the girls in this fight. They're infinitely better dressed and look rather unruffled by the attacks!
luci45#5; The Arms Dealer’s Crew - The imp on the dresser with the machine gun made me laugh out loud! As always, this is bursting with energy and attitude. (And humor!) I see more LBs in your future!!
Azoohouse #3; Family Outing - Awwww! Not a traditional family, perhaps, but they look so happy! I feel like this will end up in a frame on Mom's desk at work, lol.
MorganRLewis #1; A Conventional Proposal - Hee-hee! Nice play on words in the title! And you neatly worked around your PC's limitations. It turned out wonderfully!
Azoohouse #4; Capture the Pirate - I'm apparently blind, because I seriously almost missed the (giant, central, important) whale in this! I love how you brought all these elements together in this. Awesome water, too!
Gopherus #4; Farissa s Christmas - Lol!! And how convenient -- they're a functional addition to the fireplace at Christmas time! Very clever use of those boots!
luci45#6; There Goes the Neighborhood - I laughed out loud at the eager look on Alice's face (and the decidedly NOT eager look on Dinah's!) From the Wonderland references to the tasteful decor in the demonic household, this one was perfect in every way!
luci45 #7; Gogo Special For the Ladies - Oh. My. That actually tops the shirtless, hairy old guy across my street who mows his lawn with saggy drawers and missed the "Say No to Crack" memo. At least Ludovich looks like he's having a good time!
Diomede 1; The Night They Raided Muncy’s - Not very sporting of him to hide behind the showgirl! But nice work pulling it all together into something coherent! And cool drawing/artistic effects!
Gopherus #5; The Attack of the G’Gugvuntt/Vl’hurg Collector Battlefleet - I'm sure she'll have a distinguished career with Circque du Soleil. (Or not, but hey, points for trying.) And I guess one should never anger the birds of Hawaii!
Diomede #2; Captain Creature from the Black Lagoon - Ooh! Everything is better with pirates! Including swamp monsters! Very funny!!
luci45 #8; Justin’s Grandmother - I like this one! Funny, but with a touch of whimsy, too. Makes me miss my own grandma -- she always had stories to tell. Maybe not stories quite like THAT, lol, but still entertaining. She might have liked being carted off by Muscle Guy, though...
Gopherus #6; The Hazard of Feeding Vegetables to a Klingon - This vaguely reminds me of dinner with my children when vegetables are involved! The title of this one pretty much says it all -- made me giggle! Excellent posing!!
MelanieL#1; Togetherness - Your caption made me laugh as much as the picture did! It's nice to know there's a common theme around Christmas celebrations EVERYWHERE. :D
obanion#01; Angela’s Ass-Hats - Bravo! Excellent use of the "cosplay convention" ploy! I like the flowery briefs on the guy in the middle. You have to applaud a man who's not afraid to show his feminine side...
MelanieL#2; Come Dine With Us - No. No, I don't think I'll look under that lid. To heck with the snakes, the guy in the poofy shirt is SCARY! By the way, this is a beautifully lit and composed render!
Gopherus #7; Demons of Despair - Yikes!! I can totally see these guys appearing in a room full of anxious students taking a math test! Love the rich colors, too!
MelanieL#3; Quickie Divorce - I think I saw a Lifetime Movie of The Week on this one. And, while that thought has crossed my OWN mind on more than one occasion, I need only remind myself that "There is no RRRR in prison," and I get the carpet steamer instead of the archery set! Very, very funny!
emsim #2; Past or Future? - Lovely! Very clever idea, too. I love the fantastic, whimsical feeling of this. Excellent!
luci45#9; Heartbreaker - Who doesn't love Karaoke?! Well, okay, maybe the guy in the armchair doesn't. And the short-order cook in the doorway looks questionable in his love of song, too. Still, it makes me kinda wish I was at that party!
Gopherus #8; The Continuiing Story of Bungalow Bill - Wow!! Poetry (song?) AND art?! You've outdone yourself! I don't know about the way Mom is holding that scythe, by the way. I'd be nervous if I was the dinosaur...
Diomede #3; Not pizza again! - Lol, poor Beast looks like he's NOT looking forward to dinner! I like how the kids are chasing each other around, it makes me feel like I'm at home! Love the pizza boxes, btw!
Diomede #4; Fate of the Last Pair of Adventurers - Oh dear, this doesn't look good for those last two adventurers! At least they're sealed tightly to prevent odor? The glass/crystal blocks are a great visual effect, too.
Diomede #5; Uninvited Guest - Two of my favorite tales! (And bonus for the "Surrender Dorothy" smoke signal in the back!!) This is very, very clever! And so much going on in the background!
MelanieL#4; The Customer is (not) Always Right - LOL!! She's EARNING that commission today! This is faboulous. I'm not sure which made me giggle louder -- the ridiculous outfits or the look on the salesgirl's face! And the panty hose put it over the top! Love it!
emsim #3; Joan Trombone and Her All Crow Chorus - Oh, my. THAT must be something to hear! I just hope she doesn't let them fly over her audience's heads. Becaused birds can be deadly with their droppings!!
Gopherus #9; A Greek Tragedy - Yes, Aiko IS shocked! Fantastic use of expression! Love all the details in this! (And makes me wonder what the plot of Bus Stop entails...)

Awesome work, everyone! And good luck!!

In the large central staging area, its possible to move and reposition all the individual landscape prop (stones, rocks, outcrops) elements to suit your needs. And they can be hidden or removed as well, or used with other scenes too. The fully surrounding skysphere offers dozens of potential angles with visual appeal.

  • Have you made comics or graphic novels with Daz products?

There are some (few) writers who still put story into their comics. Perez still does, although he has had health issues that have curtailed his work lately. He has a miniseries coming out from Boom! called "Sirens" you might want to check out if you miss pre-Crisis/Secret Wars style comics. Jonathan Luna's Alex + Ada has a lot more writing than most comics today. And although there isn't a ton of writing per panel, Greg Rucka's Lazarus has not, I think, had more than 1 or 2 splash pages in the entire 15 or 16 issue run of the series so far.

But yeah... most of the time comics blow by very quickly. 3-4 panels max per page, 4-5 splash pages per issue, all action, little story, hardly any character development. Action is so central to most comics now that most heroes don't even have (or at least spend time in) their secret identities any more -- which I sorely miss. I used to love "secret ID time" when I was a kid.

My larger point though was, I don't think it's necessarily fair to blame today's (younger) webcomic authors for putting out webcomics in that style when it may very well be all they know.
