    I just got a banner now saying coupons are good three times. Is that for May or was it covered up with the Victoria coupon? So confused...

    Me too.  It's dated 4/29 in my Account/Messages/Exclusive Offers and says "... your coupons are usable three times this month ..."  which implies both the Monthy Coupon *and* the Monthly PA Coupon.  I thought previous references only mentioned the Monthly Coupon and didn't know it applied to the Monthly PA Coupon so I guess I missed out on a couple uses.  Welcome to May.

  • Ridiculously long loading time........

    Even I mix a lot of morphs in my characters. Instead of searching for those morphs in the parameters pane (for which we are paying with loadtime latency), with injection based morphs the same morph search can be done in the content library just like any other content so long as their metadata is available in the CMS. Statistically speaking, even if I combine 50 morph dials to define my character that would be less than 2% of all the morphs that are getting preloaded while loading each character in the scene. While the current approach works if one has only a few morph sets or characters installed, but it does not scale up with increasing number of morphs, expressions and characters that are being incrementally installed over a period of time. The approach for preloading every applicable morph unnecessarily is against the software engineering best practices such as YAGNI (you aren't gonna need it) and in this case, we are paying the technical debt of increased load times for not following it.

    Even if you consider the tiny additional delay of searching and adding injection morphs from the content library compared to directly dialing them in the parameters pane, the one-time delay more than pays for itself considering how many times a scene gets reloaded during its entire lifecycle spanning several days or even weeks of work.

    Injection poses, at least as implemented in Victoria 4 etc., still need to load the channel list and ERC links for them (for exactly the same reason as the Genesis figures do) and they are still slit across multiple files (all those pz2s in /Runtime/Libraries/!DAZ/Victoria 4/ etc.).

    Can you help me understand the reason why there is a need to preload the channel list if not for populating the parameters pane while loading a character? The existing injection implemention in V4 generation may not be the ideal approach to tackle this, but injection, as in on-demand loading of morphs is still there within tools like the Morphloader.

  • Looking tips about Animations

    Hello everyone, the reason for this post, is if you can guide me on how to improve the animations, and if it is a problem of mine, or is it general Daz3D.

    I was watching animations such as in the video https://www.daz3d.com/animate-walk-styles-1-for-victoria-8 and I see that the feet are not fixed to the floor, they move when the superior part of the character is moved , I see in many animations made with DAZ that it is difficult to keep the feet without moving when animating the person, because in most there are rare movements, mainly they are seen on the feet, since the reference is the floor .
    I spent many days trying to improve a simple animation of 150 frames. Modifying and deleting the unused KEYS. Moving axis by axis. But for example if I add some more frames, all the previous ones break, everything changes! Is this common?

    Another query, if I have an anyblock animation, is it not possible to see the frames keys, the sliders (bend, twist) to see how its made and get some tips?

  • Daz Studio 4.12 Pro, General Release! (*UPDATED*)

    This is confusing to me and seems like a bug. It contributes to the "timeline is broken" feeling.

    I have Keyframe Types set to TRSOAH (all types).

    1. I create a new scene.
    2. I load G8F. The timeline shows a keyframe triangle at time 0. 
    3. I move the time to frame 15 and morph G8F (I drag the Victoria 8 body Parameters pane slider to 100%)
    4. I play the animation, and it shows G8F changing from base shape to V8 body shape, as expected.
    5. At the end of playing the animation, the time is set back to frame 0.
    6. I save the scene file.
    7. I reopen the saved scene file.
    8. The keyframe on frame 15 is missing. I play the animation and nothing happens; G8F does not morph to Victoria 8 body anymore.

    I try again (same scenario, except the time is on frame 15 when I save the file instead of on frame 0)

    1. I create a new scene.
    2. I load G8F. The timeline shows a keyframe triangle at time 0.  
    3. I move the time to frame 15 and morph G8F (I drag the Victoria 8 body Parameters pane slider to 100%)
    4. I play the animation, and it shows G8F changing from base shape to V8 body shape, as expected. 
    5. At the end of playing the animation, I set the time to frame 15, to verify that she truly is in the Victoria 8 body shape (she is).
    6. I save the scene file. 
    7. I reopen the saved scene file. 
    8. The keyframe on frame 15 is missing. But G8F is in the Victoria 8 body shape in keyframe 0! I play the animation. Nothing happens.

    I will submit a help request, of course.

  • Running daz on older machine

    That is not far off the spec of Win 10 laptop I used for DS before I was given my current obsolete Win 7 machine. It ran DS 4.10. All iRay rendering was in CPU and it was achingly slow. Don't think I ever completed a render with it before Win 10 got so bored it turned the process off. Eventually I only used it to export obj files to go into my 3D printer using Victoria 3. However, I got my more powerful Win7 machine 2 months later & it ceased to be a problem.

    The GPU you have won't run the current version of iRay, which needs a much newer driver than the GT315 wil support..

    Can I not get the rest of the Victoria Bases for free if I had previously purchased one?  I can add one new Iten and a base, the moment I add anything else the deal seems to go away. If I add 2 New items and the rest of the Victoria bases I do not own, no deal.  

    You need two new items to be able to get all of them.

    Which item is the "Buddha Statues" that we're supposed to get for free? I'm not seeing it on the sales page, or the store.

    I'm seeing https://www.daz3d.com/buddha-statues is free when in the cart.

    So a really old item, not even updated for Iray -  which I already have.

  • Problem with "Bath Towel and Poses for Victoria 8"

    I have tried selecting G8F, loading and selecting Victoria 8 in case there was some weirdness going on, selecting the towel, and, finally, parenting the towel and selecting it. No matter what I do, the pose icons (labeled and categorized as such) load a new towel prop with the morph that would fit said pose, but don't do anything else. Funny thing is, according to smart content, they are not even hierarchical poses; they should only affect the figure.

    They are hierarchical poses.  You can also select the towel and there are morphs for it corresponding to the numbered poses.  If you're not using Victoria 8, but a different G8 character, there will be adjustments required.  I happened to play with this earlier today, and used Mesh Grabber to make fit adjustments.  If you like the poses, but don't want the towel, it's simply a matter of deleting the parented towel.
