  • Can't apply any shaping or morph [SOLVED]

It looks like that's the Daz Central icon in your dock and you are also signed-in to your account inside Daz Studio. Therefore, you probably have conflicting or incorrectly installed products due to mixing and matching between Daz Central and Daz Connect. You really should pick only one of those installation methods as trying to use both is liekly to be causing problems.

My recommendation would be to immediately click the "Work Offline" button in Daz Studio and ensure that Daz never attempts to connect to your account. Then, find the cloud folder inside your Daz Connect base path, note down all the products that are installed there and specifically uninstall them from within Daz Studio. Then, go into Daz Central and re-install them there.

  • DAZ Central installing DAZ Studio to C:/DAZ3D, ignoring Program Files folder

So, this thread has been very eye opening.  Thanks all for the info.  When I set up my DAZ last year on my new computer I used Daz Central also and it put everything on the C:\ drive.  No problem initially, but my C:\ drive only has 1 TB of space, whereas my D:\ drive has 5 TB of space.  I've used up a lot of the C:\ drive downloading content for V7, M7, V8 and M8, and can foresee running out of space. Especially when i move to V9 and M9.

From these comments it seems I could use DIM to add another install space for DAZ and my content, essentially having DAZ and the content installed both on my C:\ drive and on my D:\ drive.  The D:\ drive would hold all the content I have downloaded now, plus the content I've bought over the years for prior Victoria and Michael versions.  Then I could uninstall DAZ and the content from my C:\ drive.

I'd want to do that because I don't want downtime from being able to use Daz.  I have whole sets of pictures I want to make and I have 10 years of purchased content to download so it takes awhile to get it all.

Can I do that then?  Use DIM to install DAZ on my D:\ drive while it's also installed on my C:\ drive?  Or will that cause issues?

  • Missing item icons suddenly showing up in Smart Content

Sorry in advance for the long writeup!

I recently upgraded to a new hard drive, but I'm not sure if this problem is related. The background of the move is that I have Daz installed on the D drive. I had the computer shop copy the contents of the old D to a new larger drive, which is my new D drive and the old D drive is now the E drive. The new D drive eventually will only contain Daz store content while the E drive (formerly the D drive) will only contain saved files, assorted non-Daz content, etc. Eventually I'll clean up each drive - removing the Daz installed content on the newly named E drive and the saved files, etc on the new D drive - but for now I've renamed the root folders with "Defunct-" to prevent accidental usage of stuff on the wrong drives, while retaining the contents just in case. This work was done last week and I have been using Daz with minimal trouble for days since. However, I've suddenly noticed in Smart Content a lot of "!"-with-triangle icons for products that I specifically remember had normal picture icons in the past. Most of my Daz store items are not affected, but enough are that it's visually annoying - plus I actually am used to recognizing the product by its icon picture. The "!" icon items do, however, work with no observed probems.

Also going on is the perpetual nag: "Configuration of system has changed. To use content installed using DAZ Connect, the content owner must re-authenticate" on starting Daz. I have no plans to do this, as I never use Daz Connect intentionally and have not done so accidentally in months. I've certainly not logged in since the drive upgrade last week, which is when I first noticed this problem.

The first thing I tried was uninstalling/reinstalling an affected item in DIM, which changed nothing. (I usually install with Daz Central but use DIM for special-use, problem scenarios.)

On closer inspection of the metadata, I find that the problem is always some tiny change of the file name - an extra underline, or "males" instead of "male(s)" or some other minor difference like that. I can readily fix it if I take the name of the dsx file seen in Content DB Editor and update the files in runtime/support.

The first thing I thought - since I actually do software support - is that something happened to the file name while transferring from one drive to another. But the fact that the differences do vary caused me to question that initial assumption, and when I looked at the still-existing files on the E drive, they have the "bad" name also. The files were copied correctly with the names they had prior to the new drive. Yet surely, I would have noticed all these missing icons when using Daz last week.

    So two questions:

    1) Any ideas on why this suddenly cropped up, apparently in conjunction with copying the files from one drive to another (even though the file names are the same in both locations)?

    2) Is there anything else I need to do, or be aware of or alert to, other than rename the .dsa, dsx and .jpg files in runtime/support to what Content DB Editor seems to think they should be named? One thing that catches my eye is that all of these affected items have nothing in the Files and (usually) Scene IDs sections while similar unaffected items appear to. But - as noted - I have yet to have any actual problems using the affected items. They apply, work as expected, render, save, open, with no apparent issues.

    ETA this example

Note how the file with today's date/timestamp has what Content  DB Editor seems to think the correct name is - the difference is the comma, which I've pointed out with the red arrow. It appears that just opening to look at it creates this new .dsx file with the correct name. The files from 12/16/2022 - when I installed my existing content on this computer when it was built last December - have the old name. If I update them, the picture icon appears again instead of the "!" icon. Note here that Files is empty, but in this example, Scene IDs was actually populated.

  • Daz Central not recognizing everything installed

DIM and Daz Central tracking is seperate from Daz Studio.

DIM and Daz Central keep track of what are installed (and where) in the manifest files. If you have moved content without updating the manifest files, they will not know. If you do not know where your manifest files are, you can find the path in settings in DIM.

  • Daz Central not recognizing everything installed

Too many hard drives. I think I might have installed Daz on an external once. Stuff copied and deleted. I probabaly should just nuke it all and start clean, but before I do, if there ANY WAY to salvage my mess of content? Can I combine directories, re-index, re-metadata, get DIM and DC to agree and recognize everything again or is it a lost cause?
For reference, I have some stuff installed on my C, some on my D, and some on my E, but only my C and E stuff are recognized by DIM and DC. And actually, stuff is installed in my E that isn't recognized while some is. Yet in Daz Studio itself, it's all there, completely fine. The main problem is, I tend to sort it and track it about as well as I do my thoughts which you can probably guess from this post is a lost cause.
I tried nuking the CMS DB and re-metadata'ing, but that didn't seem to fix DIM or DC, it just reloaded everything in Studio.
TL:DR I suck at keeping track of things and sorting. My HDDs are a mess, and despite buying things from Daz and installing them through DIM or DC in the past, they no longer appear in DIM or DC as installed, even though Studio sees them in the directories.

  • Moving to a new D drive

Hello, again. So today my computer is back from the shop with its new drive and generally, it's a "so far so good" situation; Daz starts, finds stuff, renders. Files open and the contents render as they were. New stuff installs (via Daz Central, which is what I always use) and works fine. Have successfully done at least a couple of operations with plug-ins - all good. Script shortcuts appear to present and working; workspace seems intact, minus a minute of tab rearranging. Whew!

But there is one extremely minor nuisance I'd like to fix. Now I get the "Configuration of the system has changed. To use content installed using Daz Connect, the content owner must re-authenticate" every time I start Daz, I have no plan of ever using Daz Connect but I don't want to have to click through this constantly, forever. Is there a setting to turn this off? Or, if I log in Daz Connect briefly and immediately log out again, will that stifle this annoying message before causing even more annoying effects to my content? I only just got rid of Daz Connect garbage in Smart Content a couple of months ago from when I initially did log in way back when I installed everything on this computer.

That is a Connect (through Daz Studio) install that has not properly decrypted. Are you in fact isntalling through Daz Studio, or are you intending to use Install Manager or Daz Central? If you are trying to install through DS try uninstalling and reinstalling (right-click on the product container) and if that doesn't fix the issue please report it via a ticket - in the meantime you could download the zip and copy the folders from the /Content/ folder inside the zip to the C:/Users/chris/OneDrive/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Daz Connect Library/data/cloud/1_53167/ folder, which should replace the bad files with good.

I coped the files from the working install and that fixed it, both through the smart content library and dragging and dropping.  Thanks.

  • I uninstalled Daz Central and now DIM won't let me log in

EDIT: actually, I might have found a workaround. I thought you had to download Daz Central with DIM but they are separate programs. I'm still getting error messages with DIM and when I open Daz about PostgreSQL, but at least I can install the stuff I bought, which is really all I care about.

  • I uninstalled Daz Central and now DIM won't let me log in

I've been having problems with storage on my HD (too many 3D assets :D) so the other day I was uninstalling programs I don't use, one of which was Daz Central.

Ever since then, whenever I try to log in to DIM I get an error message: "Unable to login to the specified account. Verify the email and/or password and try again".

The email is fine. The password is fine. I'm able to log in to Daz using those credentials on daz3d.com otherwise you wouldn't be reading this message.

Meanwhile I've also been getting the "A valid PostgreSQL CMS Connection could not be established" error message when I open the Daz program, which is annoying but not a huge problem because the only thing it affected was the Smart Content tab, and I never used the Smart Content stuff anyway.

But here's the problem: I can't download anything I've bought on Daz unless I can log in to DIM. And I was thinking I could redownload Daz Central, but to do that I need to get into DIM...

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling DIM.

I've tried shutting off the computer and turning it back on again.

This started happening yesterday so I've given it 24 hours to see if it fixed itself which it obviously did not.

I suspect this PostgreSQL thing is the issue because "connection to Daz" problem seems to be the common denominator between the Daz program and DIM.

And yes, I'd redownload the PostgreSQL thing from DIM again, but to do that I have to get into DIM, which I can't do without the PostgreSQL...

Is there anything obvious I'm overlooking?

  • DIM does not download content

I had the same problem a few days ago. It eventially worked but i'm not sure why exactly here is what i did in chronological order:

-I installed windows on a new pc.

-Tried DIM and it didn't work with the same error message as yours

-came to the forum to ask for help

-someone suggested to download a GoDaddy certificate or something like that

-before i did that i reinstalled windows(probably not necessary in hindsight)

-i installed Daz Central as an alternative for DIM.

-Daz Central worked but i didn't like it so i uninstalled it and installed DIM again.

-now DIM worked for some reason.

i would suggest you to try to install Daz Central and see if it works, then deinstall Daz Central if you don't like it and see if DIM works now.

or you could try the godaddy methond. here is the link to my help question on the forum. there is a link that explains the GoDaddy method if you want to try that.

Unless it already exists, it would be nice if Daz Central and product library for that matter came with more advanced search options. Search Poses, Fugures, Architecture ( Interior Exterior) , Shaders, Artists etc.,

After you been buying daz assets for a couple of years and trying to look up an item, it can be a bit of a strugle.

    **UPDATE FOR ALL G9 OWNERS**

It's been brought to my attention that some users are seeing distortions around the shoulder for the vest and backpack straps when using a variety of swole/big/shape morphs on G9 and with the mic being distortioned when opening the mouth.

I have made adjustments to the rigid map to the vest and backpack and you will now see a smoother transition when using a variety of shapes.  Additional morphs are added to help compensate the adjusted rigid map for a better fit.  Mic has proper weight map attached to head bone.

This change is live.  You can see it in your DIM/Central.  The pants correction are still in testing.

    Thanks

Not as far as I know, it is a feature that Daz Central had and which has now been transferred to DIM as that replaces Daz Central.

Which wasn't very far - right-click in the headers and you can disable the column with Launchable, see

I solved the problem by following your advice. I logged out and tried manual instalation. Thank you so much. :)

  • genesis 8 doesn't work. It won't open

I've been using daz studio with no issue on my new laptop

I was satisfied working with daz studio,

but yesterday, there was some issue with my genesis 8 male model.

The body morph didn't work on my model

So I uninstalled my genesis 8 essential with DAZ Central and I reinstalled it.

It seemed to solve my problem at that time.

But today morning, when I tried to morph my genesis 8 male model, same problem happened.

So I retried to uninstall the model and reinstaledl.

However, the real problem hit me.

Now I can't open my genesis 8 model.

When I try to open my reinstalled model

the following message box shows up.

    ************************************************

    Resource error

    Could not open file : C/User/oscar/Onedrive/    /DAZ3D/Studio/My Daz Connet Library/data/cloud1_42071/people/genesis 8 male/genesis 8 basic male.duf File does not exist

    ********************************************

My guess is that there is something to do with Onedrive,

however I can't understand as I've been using daz studio with no any problem with Onedrive running.

Is there any way to solve this?

    Please help.
