  • New way of doing the Genisys models

i get what you all saying and having everything be dials so you have a vast number of thing is not good but having it that you still get the sculpted look but have the face/body broken up so you have morphs for viki's eye, mout, nose, cheacks, ect, ect. it means you can still get the sculpted look but also if people do not like a feature of a model they do not need to have it. lets say you like the eyes, mouth, and cheeks of aiko 6 but like everything else of viki 6 how would you do that? the answer you can't atm but what i am suggesting allows for that to happen also it allows for a ton of diffrent nationalitys to be represented as generic morphs for all the stuff i have siad in this post. so you could have say 5 diffrent african morphs for each section and then make a character thats diffrent then the basic affrican morphs and have a skin to go with that thus giving a sculpth with texture but also haveing the fredom to pick and coose what thy like of the models. yes there will be a dial that adds all the stuff of a character. that just makes sense.

I think I get what you're asking for, and your best option is the Body and Face morph packs for whichever base figure you're using. Those give you things like eye shapes and such. While the thought of having characters that have broken down morphs so you can dial in the eye shape without the rest of the sculpt sounds handy, I can guess it'd be quite difficult to make.

But if I don't like Victoria 6's features for example, the head morphs for Genesis 2 female allow me to reshape them. One thing that might be missed is that you can often dial to a negative to 'undo' features that seem to be part of a character. It may not be as effective as it would be if there were a specific 'Aiko's Eye Shape' for example, but it can be useful for customizing a character to your purpose.

good points but as for it being hard to make a character like that i think it would be easy. how else would you have the morph's pack. seeing as i am not character sculpter i would not know.

Try search; it was the first item in the second row when I tried searching.

It won't drip to the floor, but I expect you could morph it. Or create something else that would.

  • Beasts and Brutes

I am not finding this in my library.  I am guessing that maybe its just a morph pack?  although it doesn't really say one way or the other.  It does mention that the one body is to go with the heads of creature creator but it lists the others as completely separate full body character and or shapes. http://www.daz3d.com/beasts-and-brutes

Well I've gone from "probably" going to buy this product to actually buying it. I've got a few wings products and I think this has got the best morph options ever, not to mention all the material options. Can't wait to use it in a proper render devil

  • will daz come up with alternative tools like 3dxchange? anyone use akeytsu?

Can you elaborate a bit on what features you are looking for?  You can currently import BVH files into Daz, then export an FBX with animations that Unity can import.  Are you looking for more options on the BVH import?

If you haven't tried it already, KeyMate greatly improves the keyframing experience and is a good way to clean up imported BVH animations:

    http://www.daz3d.com/keymate

Also make sure you get the free key culling script by casual It's called "decimator". For DS It is vital for reducing keyframes of BVH for easier editing with graphmate& keymate.

a shame actually that this script is not in the main program as quick temorary solve fix.

what do you think of this workflow?
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2N-uAS0xS0Y

so you get the animation in iclone,  and if i remember well, you can import iclone animations back in studio, not

Yes Iclone can create excellent animation and supports Daz genesis directly to transfer the motion to genesis to render back in Studio.

  • The Guy 7, looks like it's official

I've found that Cory works surprisingly well as an additive morph -- making non-toony males into toony ones, so to speak. And he's also decent at lesser strength. It's just by himself at full strength that he's a bit ... much.

Many treated Hiro the same way.

  • GENESIS 3

    Hello everyone,

I'm a long time Poser user, currently using PPro2014, and decided since it looks like many of the online stores are developing content for G3/V7/M7, that I'd go ahead and buy them. Unfortunately, I didn't read this until I was trying to figure out why V7/M7 don't load into Poser via the DSON Importer for Poser. sad

So, as part of my troubleshooting I used Install Manager to upgrade to the latest D/S (4.9) and DSON. It looks like this was also the wrong thing to do, since it's the encrypted files from this new content protection scheme Daz is using that doesn't allow the figures to export.

I think I may have wasted a fair amount of money buying figures I thought would be Poser compatible. I'm not even sure why there's a Victoria 7 if it's exactly the same as the Genesis 3 Female with a couple of extra morph dials.

Since I'm not all that comfortable with using D/S, and most of my runtime content is in my Poser files, I guess I'll have to keep watching  the forums and waiting patiently to see if there's any progress, but I have to say I'm really disappointed in Daz, a company I've been a loyal customer of for almost a decade, for no longer supporting Poser users like us.

And don't forget...even if there is a complete character, it is usually a separate head morph and body morph.  And those can be dialed in from nothing to full...AND...mixed with any/all existing morphs.

  • Alternatives for Photoshop Bridge

Neither the photoshop or zbrush bridges work well for me. In zbrush, it works fine, only once. If I try to make another morph after that first one, it won't work, no matter where I try to put the morph, or what I try to name it as. I have to close daz studio, reopen scene, then make another morph. Photoshop plugin works about the same as what you are going through manually. Sometimes updates, sometimes I have to close and reopen to get it to refresh.

  • Can you morph Genesis 3 Female into a sphere?

Ok, I could actually have fun with a morph like that... Bouncing Boy from the Legion of Superheroes anyone?

Edit: thinking of things, a similar extreme morph and maybe associated pose could have RawArt's Muud figure rise up from a puddle shape...

  • Can you morph Genesis 3 Female into a sphere?

Have you ever wondered if you could morph Genesis 3 Female into a sphere?

    G3F 100 - Sphere 0

    image

    G3F 95 - Sphere 5

    image

    G3F 50 - Sphere 50

    image

    G3F 0 - Sphere 100

    image

I am under the impression that it is not possible to transform G3F into a sphere by using bump, normal or displacement maps.

    Therefore:

You can create interesting effects with morphs that you can not achieve with maps.

    quod erat demonstrandum

  • Demon Wings Question (solved)

I think the Up-Down could probably be called Spread/Fold since that seems to what it does, with the Fold morph retitled Fold Back, to make them clearer about what motion is occuring. :)  Awesome looking set, will have to get it when I can.

Yes I agree with you there, it was a last minute inclusion, after I did the fold dial and thought people could use it. Thanks for the feedback !!!

I'm already thinking of tricks to do with it, as I have a character that would make such wings out of tattered shadows, so two sets with one scaled slightly larger over the other and a dark wispy almost foglike texture applied and the normal sized one with the most tattered transmap... Hmm, could almost do something similar to make the burning wing textures look like they've got bits of flame coming off them.  Oh yes, they'll be fun when I can afford them.

  • Michael and Friends Appreciation Association [Lots of images, please.]

There's some really nice looking renders in here! Everyone is doing such great work. :) I have the G3's, but don't really use them. Same for the G2's; the G2's come out only rarely for me. My primary figure is Genesis 1, followed by M4, and then M3. Dusk is starting to edge his way in there with the Michael's, though. ;)

I render in DS 4.8 Pro; 3Delight. I can't use Iray because of the amount of time it would take on a system (laptop) that does not have an Nvidia card (it's onboard). Any postwork is done usually in Corel Photopaint; sometimes augmented a bit in GIMP.

Anyway... here's just a couple of my renders. I do tend to render far more males than I do females...

Shappa Napook : Draw the Line
This was a render done to demonstrate one of the techniques in my GenX tutorial. Shappa is a G2M, using my Genesis 1 morph ported over. All clothes are G2.

    Nataani : Play Render
This one is Dusk, with my upcoming Nataani morphs and skin.

    All That Remains
This is Genesis 1; too many items to list here. LOL The character is my Blake (morphs only; the skin is an edited Mor-V skin).

Blake and Seamus : Just For Fun
This is Blake again; a Genesis 1, and Seamus, with his Genesis 1 morph ported over to G2M so I didn't have to fuss with autofit on the clothes.
The skin I use for Seamus is my own texture; his morphs are mine also (dial-spun, like all of my characters).

    Nataani : School's In
Another one of Dusk - yes, Nataani's skin and morphs again..

    Face In The Mirror
This is another Genesis 1 render; dial-spun morphs, a SAV M4 skin/hair. G2M clothes via autofit from G2M to Genesis 1.
It's not one of my better renders, I think. But I still kinda like it.

    Nataani : Working Man
Another Dusk render; Nataani again. These Nataani renders just sort of happened along the way while I was building his skin and morphs...

    Wulf Twofeathers : Portrait
This was intended as a sort of school photo to go into a frame in the background of another scene.
Michael 4; my skin, my morphs (dial spun), an M4 shirt.
Female items repurposed : Stalker Girl Ponytail (tail only), and Ali's Hr-107 (cap only)

    Nataani : Portrait
Last one! Dusk again, and Nataani again... I just really liked this one...
Female items repurposed : The bandanna is actually just the headband part of the old Insolent Nightmare V4 hair from SWAM.
I set the rest of the hair down to zero opacity and applied Ken's texture from his Dusk Western Clothing to the headband (adjusted tiling), then scaled/translated it from there.

  • 3Delight Laboratory Thread: tips, questions, experiments

If there is a way for us mere mortals to turn off HD details on HD figures that do not have separate HD dials, I would love to know how.

    Set the resolution to base.

With the utmost respect, that is not turning off the HD,

it's doing worse, lol. Yea, the shoulders can be a lot better, lol.

Sorry I thought you were referring to test renders, I do that all the time for them in both render engines. Only other thing I can think is export the morph at base res to re'import as a new morph, provided its not an extreme character you shouldnt have to futz aroung with anything like adjusting rigging

That was one of the things I was kind of thinking about, as a possible way to 'Limit' the max subD level. I don't think the hexagon bridge has HD capability, and I'm less sure how it will respond to lesser SubD levels (like SubD1 or 2). It may be very good way to do that, lol. The rigging is a good point, and things like eye location may be a big issue with that method.

In fairness, if it was just matching colors of stuff to makeup, that base resolution trick may work (I'll try it later on, it's late. I don't remember if it improved the face plant time at all or not.). For the figure interacting with stuff, the shape is important, so that would still require an alternate shader. This is starting to sound like a lot of work.

I'm tired, and I need some rest. In the mean time, as a lot of work vs waiting 47 minutes per test render is still no comparison. MJC1016, how do I move the eyes, so they stay in the sockets as a figure shaping dial is moved, and don't jump out of the head when the 'zero figure Pose' is done? Any good reading to get me started there?
