  • Question on morphs: copy a pose morph and convert it into a shape morph, possible?

A properties preset will save both morph and pose settings.

worked but at first I forgot to uncheck materials sad but now everything is good smiley

  • The Guy 7

I've always had a soft spot for palookas.

Is that anything like a "galoot"?

Anyway, I like him.  He looks like "Ken".  If I morph Girl 7 to be about 20% taller and 20% thinner, and put a little ascot on The Guy 7, I could do Barbie stuff.  Oh wait, I think that's the Mattel "goombahs" at my door...

  • Panties and Thighs

Hi Karen. thanks to test with basic wear mesh (gen3F).  smiley

For gen3F , I tried with basic wear (gen2F) first (it seems high mesh)  , then use Transfer Utility, to transfer rig and weight

form genesis3female. (I test with clonebody, and some template. Actually I used gen3F product panty as template too ^^;)

    but,, it almost ugry,, then I could not adjust well  weight-map.  it was really difficult. ^^;

then just check gen3female weight map,, and remember,, it was discribed before. (low poly mesh give you better result then high poligon

    to restrice defomation)

if actually it worked,, (I feel your correct weight map is really clean,, I dould not do it with Gen2female basic wear,,,)   I must learn the way.

(then I actually  could see some product, which deformed edge poligon bad by JCM too,,

(so you are right about JCM,,). But,,, to color weight-map the Area clean,, is really annoying problem for me.

then if low mesh (clean arranged) can easy color weight,, and restrict defomation of weight map about those such expanding area,,, I keep it in my mind,,)

  • The Guy 7

Bruce Campbell! That's who he reminds me of, a toon Bruce Campbell.

And now that makes him more interesting. Bet with a little dialing from some of the more realistic morph sets one could use Guy 7 as part of a good Bruce Campbell morph.

(Now I want to use him to make toon versions of scenes from Army of Darkness... Need to find a chainsaw to stick on his arm...)

I didn't get The Girl 7 ( I have every other rendition and never used them) and can't see getting The Guy 7 but if anyone has any renders of Jax without the guy would love to see them. It says he uses G3 male base UV maps but wondering how much influence the guy has on him.

Here is a quickie :) I believe both characters use teh Guy 7 morph at 50% so it is a big influence on the morph like most characters i do for the Daz figures but alot of times they still look ok without the base imo :)

Wow, that looks really good. I'd say it may even look better than some of the more realistic characters out there.

Really, really tempting. But, I'm planning on doing my toon work in Poser 11 (because of the Comic Book Preview), so I don't think investing in a Genesis 3 figure is worth it right now.

Also, I wonder if they're going to make a teeth morph? For a true toon-style render, I might want less detail on the teeth.

  • Gen2 Clothing to Gen3

Genesis 3 Male includes an AutoFit clone for Genesis 2 Male, which allows the conversion of clothing - it isn't perfect, and any extra bones in particular will be lost, but it does go quite a way towards making many items of clothing work. Morphs can be converted using the Transfer utility in DS, though that isn't an automated process. Textures for the G2M figure will not currently be usable on G3M without doing some additional work in an application like Blender to bake from one mesh to another.

  • Outfit causing crash

First, a little background. I found some cool sets on sharecg but were 3dsmax (.max) files. The author also included .objs with them (yay!)

So I loaded to obj's in Hex and cut out the figures, cut apart the clothes to make different sections (shirt, pants, boots, etc.) then sent them over to Daz, rigged, shaded and rigged them.

Then I packaged them up and put them in my archives in case I ever needed to reinstall.

Problem is, one of my suits causes Daz to crash about 90% of the time but only when it's trying to load the entire suit at once. If I load it into the scene piece by piece, it seems to be fine, but if I try to load a saved scene that has the whole suit, or if I try to load my "full suit" preset, good chance Daz will crash.

If I open Daz, set the view to wireframe, then load the saved scene then it's loaded fine (so far) but it crashed again right after saving the scene.

I can't redestribute the pack as I've also added an undershirt for the suit to collide with and would violate the lisence, so I'm just looking for places to look for common errors first. I did check the log and seen some "known invalid rgb" errors and some "missing morph" warnings but I see those in scenes without the suit as well so I don't know if those are directly related to the suit..

  • Is there a Bodybuilder morph in the Genesis 3 Male Body Morphs?

I have a bodybuilder morph for Genesis 3. It was on the Shaping tabs. There were also some individual morphs for the various muscles. Not sure but I think they were on the parameters tab.

  • Rigging an A Pose garment to a T Pose Genesis figure.

You could try to use Transfer Utility with Item Shape set to Current.

I know that I will run into the same problem sooner or later ;-) so it would be nice to hear if it works.

Edit: Sorry, forgot to mention that Figure should be posed in A-Pose, too. After using the Transfer Tool, pose Figure back to T and the sleeves should follow (theoretically)

  • Panties and Thighs

It may be related this topic,,,

One product I really suprised  is, underware which is inluded in Genesis3female starter kit.

When I start lerning modeling clothing for genesis figures,,I have believed,, usually more mesh usually give me  more smooth deformaiton  with weight map.

But one day,, one vendor discribe  documet,,in daz wiki. (I could not find the document,,at current,, maybe I forget how to serch it)then she discribe,, how make low pogion underwear,, (it was bikini type top underwear,, I remember,,)

and the merit of it than more high poligon model clothing,,,  tit discribe it can reduce,, weight map problem etc too. I could understand what she said somehow but actually I have not tested the way..then after all,, I still  often add more  mesh for my clothing,,(Like subdivide,,) just hope to smooth when I rig it in daz studio,,,,)

but today I check genesis3female basic wear product (panty ^^;)  then compare with  Auto fitted product from genesis2femal.the  basic wear of genesis3female is actually really low simple poligon arrangement,,  there is no additional morph etc,,

but it not  strech  ugry,, with most of pozing. without smooth modifier keep clean edge. I need not turn off Auto followed JCM about this simple underwear. and need not apply smooth modifier, most of case,, of course it work well with smooth modifier too. I really feel it is pro modeling  techinic . and hope to learn from it. (who it vendor of this product?  I believe she intend to make it as such simple (but clean  low poligon)

I may challenge ,reduce poligon more,, when I make underwears,,,angel

    Hi,

I tried something: I used Transfer Utility with the basic Wear Underwear, that fits perfectly without distortions and voila see picture 1

This time only the weights maps were to blame, I smoothed them severeal times and the pants looked way better as you can see in picture 2

Seems to be a combination of too many polygons, weight maps and jcms.

For my next attempt in modeling pants I will try to keep that in mind phew

  • The Guy 7

Ah, I didn't buy the Girl 7 Pro Bundle so I didn't see an expiration date.

3D Universe's Jason and Hiro Toon should be the male toon figure standard to improve upon. A remake for Genesis 3 and maybe an older morph based on that would be great to see one day.

  • JMC - What is it?

The tutroiall, show more smart JCM . the JCM work only when you applied one character morph, and bend sholder.

because Same JCM can not fit different character mesh.. then we need to set ERC (link) for JCM  with  bend rotation, and with  character morph too.

Choose for which character morph,  you make JCM to reduce which joint rotation,,

you said,, pose legs out .(deformation happens most).

then,,  when you set "left Thigh bend" node >side-side(Z rotate)  to limit value,, you make morph to correct current shape by z brush and import it

( I suspect, you already know, how to make morph for posed figure.  ) and make new controller .  then save it as morph first.

after that try ERC freeze, or the document tutoriall with Legs Out parametrer. ("left Thigh bend" node >side-side(Z rotate) )

  • JMC - What is it?

"if I bend the legs with pose out and fix it, in zbrush, and the ERC freeze, that my morph that I have applied will for ever, when I do leg out poses, will use the zburhed morph?"

Yes, it seems almost right I think.

then Richard adviced you to use ERC freeze way,, it is easy way I think.

but at same time,, I recommend to try more  manuall way, to understand clear,, what actually doing, about JCM and bone rotation.

    then recommend try this tutoriall.

    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/creating_content/assembling/tutorials/creating_joint_controlled_morphs/start

it is a little old tutoriall made for ds 4 (not 4.5 or 4.8 4.9)

,, but most of principal not change.. then If you find something wrong, or something not work,,or can not find tool (which is replaced)

, ask again please.  some tools has already changed. then ask here, which process you get difficulity,, or can not find way etc. laugh

  • JMC - What is it?

Are you telling me, that if I pose legs out (Because thats where the deformation happens most. That, and sitting poses. That if I bend the legs with pose out and fix it, in zbrush, and the ERC freeze, that my morph that I have applied will for ever, when I do leg out poses, will use the zburhed morph? I don't wanna sound like a noob, but when it comes to joints, ERC freeze, saving morphs. I'm as noob as it comes. Try not to expect me to know what you are talking about, or assuming I know how to Set the joint to the bend and the morph to the value

    By

deleted user deleted user February 2016 in Technical Help (nuts n bolts)
  • JMC - What is it?

Well, first you need a morph that needs to kick in when a joint moves

Don't know how to do that.

Set the joint to the bend and the morph to the value it should have (100%, usually) at maximum

Don't know how to do that.
