  • OT: First NYC Trip in Oct, Need Recommendations!

We live an hour away and go in quite a bit.  The Circle Line makes sense and if you're flush you can get a 20 minute or so helicopter tour you'll remember forefver.  But it's spendy - figure $200 a head.

Meals at the name restaurants are very expensive, but there are a lot of smaller places that may be better. Talk to locals when you're in town adn ask them about thigs you like.  NYC has an undeserved repuation for  not helping.  I find the opposiate.    Food trucks can be excellent.  Street meat makes a great lunch when you're moving around.

Walk on the High Line on the Lower West Side.  It goes from Penn Station through the Meat Packing District and lets out around the West Village.  The West Village and a bit South- like SOHO - has some of the best pizza in the world.  Maybe the best. Ask the locals... there's a lot of really bad stuff too.

I'm a big fan of Central Park - an astonishing place carved out in the middle of the city.  The city is bigger than you think.  Break it down into sections.

Little Italy is down by Chinatown and almost gone with Chinatown's growth.  You'll find some fine places there, but maybe a bit spendy.

Brooklyn is the up and coming place that can be worth a visit if you want to see a bit more vibrance and maybe a bit more grit.

Have fun.. I've been going in for more than 20 years and find something new every time.

Have you recovered yet from the sticker shock of hotel prices in Manhattan? smiley

One option is to hop a train at Penn Station or Grand Central and head out of town at the end of the day to a more reasonable hotel up north. Especially nice along the Hudson.

Oh, and I'm a big fan of the Circle Line boat tour around Manhattan. In fact I think there's a NY state law requiring all first time tourists to take the Circle Line at least once. smiley

And asking about good Italian restaurants in NY is like asking how many grains of sand on the beach. smiley

laugh Trying hard not to think about the prices there, that's for sure! It's a once-in-a-lifetime trip, so it's all good. Thanks for the tip on prices up north. Also, wouldn't want to break any laws while I'm there so I guess I'll need to take that boat tour! laugh

That many good Italian restaurants? That makes it a lot easier to choose one then! Thanks!

  • Growing Up for Genesis 8 (Commercial)

HA! Finally Solved the central bulge in tops when fitted to Growing Up. Took me long enough lol....I am in the process of making a Projection morph so tops fit flush and properly on flat chested figures. Update might not be ready for release but I'll try. If not it will be released soon after. I will also try and Update the Genesis 3 Female version of Growing Up as well. Might add this to Fit Control too if I can get it across.

    Wonderful! Thank you.

Katarina mid age in Central Park NYC.

Looks very nice, but I can't help wincing a little at how that jumper 'drapes' over the chest area.

Haha yeah, they do that sometimes when you go "non-model" body shapes wink

And there was me thinking it was static cling from her wearing a nylon bra ... blushdevil

I did a close-up using @MEC4D's latest Central Prrk HDRI using one of her supllied caneras, and using Katarina, mainly teen settings dialled in:

    Shes so gorgeous!! yes

Is it just me or she kind of looks like... the cash me ouside girl? devil

Very funny and well done and I like the sharpness, Thank you Stu , it was most challenging shot ever with all the people, I hope when the summer is over and tourist retreat I can get more wonderful places in Central Park in the fall colors.

    Thank you for sharing !

    Cath

Well Cath has gone and done it again and brought out another must buy HDRI set!  And it's absolutely fabulous too!  There simply aren't enough words to keep on describing how good these packs are, they are simply mind blowing!!

It also appears that great minds think alike because for my first try I've gone and one the same thing as Artini's great render!  It was a total coincidence too, but this set does pair perfectly with the City Bike!  I almost used Katerina as well before choosing to make the picture with Second Circle's Chloe instead.  That would have been way too spooky a coincidence!  LOL

  • What Character Is This? (From the MEC4D Central Park promos)

Yeah, it's another one of "Those" threads - a What Character Is This. This week's puzzle comes from the "MEC4D HDRI Central Park NYC - Megapack" promos. Does anyone know what character this is:

I think she looks gorgeous and very realistic!

Check out those cute and realistic arm dimples too (I THINK it's the same character):

Does anyone know who she is?

Working on the artifical limbs now. Not sure what store they will be released at, though.

Let us know when they're up - wherever that may be. Ah - with the possible exception of Turbosquid. cheeky

Not likely to end up there; that place is sticker -shock central at times.

  • Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 9

    Wow, IceDragonArt, that looks great!

firewarden, for me portrait light sets don't work real well for scenes. They are usually set up with the lights close to one central figure. You could make a lot of adjustments but characters and props will cast weird shadows on one another and it is a big hassle.

I posted the render I did on your BOSS thread, Novica. Thanks for your help last night. I guess we both learned some stuff. I'm so happy it is working now.

    Thanks for the info! :)
