  • Editing Daz morphs in blender.

Thanks I'm trying it out now. Is there anything else I need to do after importing the new morph to make sure it works right? I'm very new to this.

  • Editing Daz morphs in blender.

They are all regular morphs that I'm using. I'm just trying to create more volume in certain areas that I think is lacking. What are the export settings for getting into blender? I tried editing something but as soon as I started morphing the model actually pulled itself apart like certain parts weren't attached. I also tried dialing in a test morph, basically creating a morph out of the model I was exporting and then trying it on a blank genesis 3 and it acted weird in posing, fingers elongated like spagheti and bends didn't look right. Maybe I did something wrong there :(

  • Editing Daz morphs in blender.

Yes, it is possible...but the process depends somewhat on what the morphs are (regular or HD morphs).  And if it isn't going to be for redistribution, it is actually a bit easier.

You could dial in the morphs you want, then export an obj version of the entire figure.  This needs to be done at the base resolution...which is where the whether or not they are HD morphs matters.  To bring the edited morph back into Studio, it will only accept base resolution morphs.   At base resolution, HD morphs don't add very much at all.  Also the base resolution restriction prevents subdividing in Blender and hoping to import that divided morph back in...

  • Growing Up Product Update & Merchant Resource Agreement [Commercial}

    What you may do -

    1. You may save as a character\shaping preset in conjunction with your morphs where users will

require the Growing Up product in order to work.

What you may not do -

    1. You may not distribute\copy the morphs from this product in its current format or modify them, this includes morph baking.

    2. You may not create freebies distributing the morphs from this product in any form unless it is a character\shaping preset where users require the Growing up product in order to work.

    3. You may not create your own merchant resource with this product.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Here's a question: how is this any different from what is and isn't allowed for every other product, even without a "Merchant Resource Agreement"? As far as I am aware, it has always been permissible to distribute presets that call a product's morphs, as long as the morph data itself (alone or baked in combination) is not distributed.

  • Editing Daz morphs in blender.

I'm new to creating morphs and I've got some morphs dialed in but I want to edit some parts of them. I was wondering if I could import the model to blender and morph it there before importing it back into DAZ and dialing it in and how I would go about it. The model i'm using is genesis 3 female and I'm trying to edit some of the muscle morphs in a way, adding in more details and changing the shape. WIth those muscle morphs dialed in can I edit them in blender or do I have to make the muscles from scratch? This is only for my own use with creating renders.

Any help would be great :)

I decided to buy her too, she's cute.  I also noticed some of the other products for Star are on sale again so I think I'm gonna pick up a few.  Has anyone been able to get the Star V4 UV to work? I tried but get wierd results.  Anyway here is my first render with Star.

    Who's the boyfriend? :)

    Comet, the male morph? surprise

  • Saiyaness - Priya for Genesis 3 Female looks like...

Priya G3F reminds me the young and androgyny Jaye Davidson from the Stargate movie...

You're absolutely correct. I was watching Stargate (again) and I fell in love with his androgynous face (again). Priya's expressions for her promos were more based on those expressions and attitude, not so much her morph (which were based on Middle Eastern female features)
Don't ask why I decided to do a girl instead of a boy. :p I was making a female skin and felt inspired. @_@ She originally had a smaller, thinner, androgynous frame but I decided to give her a more womanly, statuesque, well-endowed figure. I wanted her to look tall, regal and god-like.
I didn't want to do Egyptian though (it's been done by people more talented than me) so I went for tribal instead.
Now I want to watch Stargate again. Damn you! :p
Edit: Priya was just a name I chose. I Google searched names from that area. I saw it and liked it. :p

I love Stargate too...laughand I'm glad to see in Priya the charm of the character of the God Alien RA that the actor Jaye Davidson played in Stargate. Character who was often "ignored" but secretly admired at the time (1994), perhaps because of the sexual ambiguity scandal that He had "created" since 1992 in The Crying Game. But the amazing thing is that, with your Priya morph for G3F, Your talent has caught perfectly the proud eyes look (even contemptuous) of the Alien God character and the typical pouting of Jaye Davidson thin lips, which give a sensual melancholy to the whole face. The same awesome sensual melancholy as we can see in Priya. So no matter if Priya could have been male instead of female, the face is the key part of Priya character..... Well Done !!!!!

But if it is really necessary to switch to male version we could use the G3 cross-figure  wink
OK ok at DAZ3D the female figures always had a high hit rate, male figure are tolerated hehehehe....i'm joke devil ....but in the movie Stargate, the Alien God played a perfect ambiguous "male to female" character so Priya is perfect as She is.

Furthermore, the meaning of the name Priya is: "BeLoved" heart

  • DS Morphs set

When using Poser, I was able to open parameter dial settings and change the sensitivity to, let's say, 1.00, if I wanted a particular morph to simply go from 0 to 1 all at once, with no transforms in-between. This came in handy for certain types of morphs. Now I'm wanting to make the same edit to a morph dial in DS, and I've found the "sensitivity(Nudge)" setting, however, it does not seem to work in the same fashion.

I have some Ideas that might help.

By far the easiest is to reduce the scale of the bone that you moved. This can help with the distortion.

If you want to get a bit more indepth you can open the rigging tab and select the skirt.then right click and under edit there is an option to adjust rigging to shape You will have to deslect everything but the handles and choose the correct face groups. I haven't done this much so my advice on the correct things to do is limited.

You could also fiddle with the weight maps if all else fails.

There is also a way to use the transfer utility to retain the old handles (if there were any). That mostly works on skirts and hair though. I haven't had any success with dress but I might have to try it again soon as I have learned a couple of new tricks.

Some interesting ideas there - I hope I can follow some of the steps. I have no experience with rigging or weight maps so its another learning curve. So far I've just bought new clothes but I'm aware of how much money goes out just replicating a wardrobe for each new generation.

  • How to Fit a Hat Over Hair?

I'm lazy. I'd prefer if the artists who create hair add a morph that would make the hair fit under hats easily. Or if a hat maker included some morphs for a few popular hairstyles. I like the Western Hats with Hair collection, although I may not have used it yet! http://www.daz3d.com/western-hat-with-hair

So, you'd be willing to pay about triple for each hair?

The problem would be that different hats woud require different morphs depending on how they fitted.

  • Show Us Your Iray Renders. Part V

As Rafmer suggested I the Bloom filter intensity for the tie & shirt was what caused the bleeding light in my render, so to make my render settings easier to render I turned off both the Noise filter and the Bloom filter (which is how those are configured by default) and rendered again.

That got rid of the bleeding light on the tie & shirt but there is a bug that keeps showing up when I do something like set the rendered image dimensions to Ultra HD and then to a ratio like Golden Portrait. What should happen is the Ultra HD gets rotated 90% and clipped to match the Gold Ratio for Portrait, what does happen sometimes is the Ultra HD gets clipped, unrotated, to the largest dimensions possible that fit within the Ultra HD and give a Golden Ratio for Portrait and why I say sometimes is because then most times later the Golden Ratio for Portrait is still correct then the image dimensions is shrunk way down from the dimensions it was originally clipped from, in this case Ultra HD, to create the original ratio. It seems it has something to do with opening saved scenes, applying (and unapplying) one morph or more, and the saving the scene and opening the scene again. Wala, the Golden Ration for Portrait is still correct for the camera but the dimensions are been shrunk and even reselecting Ultra HD does not change the Goldren Ratio for Portrait to Ultra HD again. I have to create a new scene then to get the Ultra HD selection to work.

As you see the bug in DAZ Studio 4.9.1.30 led to the Golden Ratio for Portrait to be still correct in my saved and reopened scene file but it lost sight of the fact it was set using the Ultra HD dimensions, not the biggest Golden Ratio for Portrait available in my DAZ Studio Viewport which as you see is only 500x650 pixels. As I said this bug didn't appear until I unmorphed the head to make my plain render using the Genesis 2 Male head and then reapply the head morph, save the scene file and then exit DAZ Studio and reopen the scene to make the render you see here.

  • thank you AprilYSH

So nice of you guys to post this - thank you! -  and I must tell you the thanks go to Daz! They encouraged me to do the G2F version after I submitted the G3F for March Madness.  Daz are looking at sales and G2F sales are still pretty good for hair apparently.  :)  (I wasn't told if that's as true for characters, clothes, poses, etc.)

Confession: I did another complex one after this that was G3F only, sorry!  Simple head-only hairs I was still happy to do for G2 and G3 but for custom rigged hairs I prefer to just do G3F :( ...  G3F and G2F rigging are quite different - in bone structure plus one is triax and the other is general - so for me it depends on time constraits and if I can get away with it I'd rather do a new hair than do the same hair twice lol. blush

Having said that, now I will be more aware and a bit more inclined to do it cause of this thread cheeky *shakes fist* lol wink

well I really appreciate the extra effort you put into make this hair piece available for g2f.  I usually just parent g3f hair pieces instead of fitting them to my g2f characters to make it work. but there is always some issue that arises from doing that. .  I never knew there were so many options with this hair until I started tested it. .. I can't use g3f in animation because of the the work involved to make it work & look right so I never invested in it. so anything g2f is defiantly considered for purchase by me.

I would like to take this opportunity show other how great this hair piece is, there are so many morph and dynamic movement options that this hair piece will be used a lot. ..  this is a Iray render I just did using g2f  in a HDRi  BG with a simulated 35mm camera flash & the dof and f-stop settings applied.  this hair piece is just fabulous. I can't thank you & daz enough that its supports g2f

  • Clothing Conversions

I have a huge V4 wardrobe, a moderate Genesis collection and a quite large G2F content library. Now I'm starting to include some G3F characters - I've bought the morphs and a couple of sets (Bethany and Growing Up) and I'm starting to dress them up. I hoped to use my existing wardrobes with the help of converters such as Wear Them All and SY Ultra Templates. However, I'm having problems with poses.

If I convert a G2F dress it usually fits nicely in T-Pose but when I try to have the figure sit, I just can't get the dress to match the thighs. If I use the bend handles (I think these are created by the SY Ultra product) the dress stretches and distorts horribly and does not conform to the legs at all.

I did convert quite a few items a few weeks ago and ended up feeling pleased with myself and the conversion products but now, when it comes to using them in scenes, I find I may have been over-optimistic and I now have another expensive round of garment purchases ahead.

Just an example: The Cute3D W-Skirt. Lots of morphs, many of which transfer across but comparing the movement with the dress loaded on G2F and the conversion loaded on G3F, I can see why Cute3D took the time to create a G3F version. The G2F conversion just doesn't work.
