Thank you no need hurry,  ^^   and yes when I export Actor with multi uv set,, ds do not care, then export it as one new UV set.

so that your plug in  can work without problem. and export two FIgures seems good idea, to easy store UVset In one blend.file,,

I  store many mat set, with each UV set (which is exported from DS) in one Matlibrary.blend file.

then hope to  re-use it for rigged Figure in blender,, ,by Append and transfer UV,, when I need  (eg,, nail , or eye only,,,)

Then,,  if there is already uv node, I can easy change UV set,,after transfer another UV for curernt Actor for each surface.smiley

Yes - so far I've converted the Duke and Shrieker morphs. Both are really outstanding, and I plan to add more to my Genesis gene pool. Here's an example of Shrieker used on a Genesis figure (in combination with other morphs, too):

Greg, would you mind sending me a pm with the steps you use to convert them?  I've tried with Stan but keep getting "there are no morphs with non-zero values."  I even tried making a separate cr2 with m4+stan but nothing I'm doing seems to be right.  I have genx2 + all the add ons + m4 for g2m so I should be able to get this to work.

Back in front of my computer now, and created another Genesis morph for the Duke's head using GenX2. Here are the steps I followed:

    1. Load GenX2

    2. Click on "Source" and load M4

    3. In the Content Library, navigate to Poser content, then Pose -> MortemVetus -> The_Duke

    4. Drag the file "+Head_INJ.pz2" onto the GenX2 window with Michael 4 already loaded as the source

    5. Click on "Select" and choose "Transfer: On for All Non-Zero Values"

    6. Click on "Mode" and choose "Create single morph"

    7. Click on "Target" and choose "Genesis"

    8. Click on Transfer and set the "Identifier" and "Name" to "Duke Head Test"

    9. Close and restart DAZ

    10. Load up a Genesis figure and under Parameters -> Actor -> Generation X you'll find a dial for "Duke Head Test"

That's it. There are some more settings that I didn't mention and other options you can set, but you can check the documentation for those if you're interested. Hope this helps, greymouser69.

And on another note, I bought some more Mortem Vetus earlier today (Habitus Malus & Templar). Loaded up M4 with the Templar gear, posed him real quick, and stuck him in a world sphere environment for Sauron's stronghold in Mirkwood, Dol Goldur. All of the materials for Templar converted & rendered great straight out of the box using my NPR algorithms.

Even though Templar is for an older figure, it's top notch work for sure! I'll definitely pick up some more Mortem Vetus products to add to what I already have.

This is the day that Stonemason wins.  Grabbing both bundles and going crazy with his store.  I don't really care for the Ronya bundle, but I'm instead treating it as "Buy the G3F morph & expressions bundle for $18, get some cool poses and a hair piece for free."

Same here. I loaded my cart on Saturday, decided to wait until today (Sunday) to see if the new Daily Mind Blower would be more useful to me... and here it is, Sunday, and the Daily Mind Blower must be so mind blowing that they carried it over for another day!

There's not one single part of Femina Furins that I can use, not even the flat heeled boots! But, adding it to my cart brought the price down $10.00, so oh, well. I just wish that the Daily Mind Blower was, well, daily and mind-blowing. Something like Under the Overpass...

But, yeah, a bunch of green scraps of paper are set to fly out of my wallet into Stonemason's account at Daz. Like little green bees headed for the honey.

  • Fairytale Princess Dress poses/morphs - strange behaviour

That happened to me when I was using another long dress.  If there's a pose preset for your dress -- a click "sit" pose -- it might work better.

Well it's actually a pose included with the dress for that exact morph so it should work.

  • Fairytale Princess Dress poses/morphs - strange behaviour

I'm trying to get the Fairytale Princess Dress to work in DS 4.9.1.30 but morphs and poses are acting totally strange (haven't tried it in earlier versions of DS so I don't know if it is related to this version).

I'm following the instructions in the tutorial using the Universal Tool but it hardly seems to have any effect at all other than for the hip. Morphs don't work either or they are acting strange.

Example: the Sit Pose 1. I'm applying the included pose to G3 and that looks OK, but then when I dial the morph the dress is totally distorted. Anybody else having these problems?

I love your gritty male characters and I will probably get more of them in the future.  Even though I'm happy using M4, it sure would be nice to see characters like that on G2 or G3 in the future.

Has anybody tried transfering any of these MV character morphs using Gen X and add-ons?

Yes - so far I've converted the Duke and Shrieker morphs. Both are really outstanding, and I plan to add more to my Genesis gene pool. Here's an example of Shrieker used on a Genesis figure (in combination with other morphs, too):

I remember seeing that image when you first posted.  I had no idea you had converted that.  Nice.

It's a fantastic morph! "Mouth Open Wide" just wasn't cuttin it for her lol.

  • DAZ Studio Suggestions

No, installed content (via DIM) goes to the one location, locally created content to another. That's a good thing as it keeps user content separate from third-party content and it also means that DIM doesn't have to worry about other sources of files in the My DAZ 3D Library folder when uninstalling and deciding if a file is finished with. (Fourth generation morph expansions do throw a spanner in the works, however, as those must go in the same folder as the base figure so that means non-DIM content in the My DAZ 3D Library folder per force). I forgott o add the folder for DAZ Connect, which by default is also in the Documents folder - DAZ 3D/Studio/My DAZ Connect Library I think; I don't like having installed content default to using the user's own documents folder, but of course it's easy enough to set the location (or the other locations) to something else as desired.

While I never said it, my two previous renders were based more or less in real life event from my past. This third entry on the other hand is not.

Things That Go Bump in the Night

It was day like any other. Three little kids found and bought an old and very cool looking book from an antique store. There were a lot of interesting things in this book, but only a handful that they could understand and could try out. The things that that these kids would be able to try out, had to be done at the cemetary, since one thing needed was an actual human skull. So come that night, these little kids went to the local cemetary, which was known to be place from where you can find human bones without too much trying or opening anyone's grave. At the cemetary, there was an old mauseleum, where they could do their experiement.

  • Adding new Character to scene makes them look anorexic

It sounds as if you have a morph that was saved with a non-zero default value. Load a plain Genesis 3 Female from the Content Library and in the Parameters pane look at Currently used - I think the defaults should be Navel and Mouth Realism HD set, what (if any) other shapes are non-zero? Does zeroing that one restore the shape to the default?

  • Sincere advice and help needed from long time Poser users now using DS

You need to do what I finally did when I seen I was just spinning my wheels and getting nowhere.

What I decided to do was create a original character starting from a base of one of the DAZ Studio Genesis 2 Essentials. Actually, to make myself more critical of my progress I decided I wouldn't just create some random made-up character but use my ID instead. Now when I evaluate my progress I can't tell myself, 'good enough for government work' because I have the ID right before me. It's too easy the other way to spin a few morph dials, use a bought set of textures and presets and call yourself done but then you've not learned much. However if you aren't interested in creating characters, clothing, or hair then that is fine and I suggest you go straight to Puppet Master or Animation tutorials. Otherwise if you are interesting in creating characters, clothing, and hair, as part of the basics of that use an ID that is readily available and create a character based on that. And because you need to render to judge your progress you'll need to learn how to use the bare basics of iRay rendering and ignoring 3DL for now. I'll tell you as Ken O'Banion above did, that rendering a Perspecitive or other view is not the same as rendering a Camera view and that unfortunately the Camera view seems to have bugs. If you do decide to create a character as your 1st learning lesson I'll tell you for now just accept the Environment HDR DAZ Studio supplies because it makes a good portrait light. And don't bother posing as you've got your hands already full, so just use the Depth of Field Closeup Camera and a Golden Ratio Portrait or similar dimension for that camera when you set it up.

I know it's going to take me 2 months or more but shouldn't learning something as potential complex as DAZ Studio take a while? Since you've set a goal you can easily track your progress. I also know that in creating this character I'm only learning a small subset of what DAZ Studio can do. Namely alter Surfaces settings, create bump and maybe specular and normal maps (Gimp and Nik Collection from Google), create hair (nVidia Hairworks and Blender plugin (those are free) or the Look At My Hair (paid), and apply morphs from FaceGen Artist Pro (free demo with logo geometry on head or paid version). Also as part of editing the Surfaces settings I learn saving Material Presets, Character Presets, and Scene Presets. When editing in the Surfaces tab use the iRay Genesis 2 Male or Female Optimize Presets as the basis for creating your new character as those are PBR settings and they'll make it much easier for you to create a reasonably good famisile of your character. PBR shading is scientific, not artistry for you'll get setting that look more realistic in a wider variety of lighting situations. It does though mean to get scenes that have good dramatic lighting you must learn lighting basic as you can no longer depend on flattering lighting being painted directly on the character's face. HRDI lighting will play a role in you learning how to do that but it's best to save learning those techniques until after you learn to make characters.

If you base your character off a Genesis 2 Female, Genesis 2 Male, or Genesis Essental Base character than if you do an external search for Snow Sultan and DAZ templates you'll find the converted UVs you can to use to create your bump maps and such in Gimp to create your character. There are also Pinterest Notes you can follow a board for by various artists and their notes for PBR shading and human eye & skin tones. I'd of prefered to use Genesis 3 to start with but neither FaceGen Artist Pro or Headshop support Genesis 3 yet although the maker of FaceGen Artist Pro told me as a recent purchaser of FaceGen Artist Pro they'll be adding Genesis 3 support.

When that's done I want to learn to make clothing, pose, and animate in DAZ Studio and those are big standalone topics that take a lot of goal setting and doing but that's the way I decided how to get out of the preset clicking - dial setting rut. You or anybody that's interested can do the same type of goal setting or you own personal way of learning.

Also, if you are just want to learn how to generally navigate around DAZ Studio with no particular goals then look at SickYield's tutorials they are creating in a thread elsewhere in these forums. The tutorials are actually on YouTube though.

So it's a lot of work true...just writing this response took like 30 minutes.

Hi,, thank you up-date.!  then  I have one question,,Can  this plug in work,, with different UV set, in one Figure?

because,, I sometimes apply different character mat (different UV)  for Eye part only,, then export it by mjcblender,,

I feel I need to add UV nodes,   then set UVset for Eye part,,  to render  correclty,,   though it work for me,, but

I hope to know,, if there is setting,, to export multi UV sets  (vicotria6 torso,, and another charalcter UV for eye) in one figure, correclty?

    (or future request ,,)  smiley

    ==============

Sorry,,, I needed to tell more  clear what I hope,,,

    1. I make one character with V7 UV set and mat , then export it to blender,   name UV set as V7UV, then re-name each Mat for future use (eg torso_V7)  . and save the scene in blender,, V7mat.blender.

2  I make second character with Karen UV set and mat, then export it to blenlder,, name UV set as KarenUV, re-name each Mat  ,but hope to change eye mat ,then append it from V7mat.blend.  then exchange it in blender,  only about  eye parts mat.

3  I need to transfer V7 UV set, then import mesh of Figure from  V7mat.blender, then transfer UV to current Karren mesh .

    4.  now Karen have two UV set in Blender,, then about eye mats,, it use V7mat. , I need  to apply V7uv sets  for eye parts.

5  Then I add UV nodes for each eye parts ,, then select Karen UV for them,,, to render.

     I really like  exchange mat in blender,, by "append " from mat.library (which I stored exported mat, and there is already each UV sets in one mesh )  ,then I hope,, (request) , if this plug in  can  auto  generate "UV set " nodes,,when I export figure,,  ^^;

( each UV nodes is useful,,, when I export grafted item (eg gen,,) with Actor too.  I usually  merge mesh in blender and remove doubled mesh to render correclty..  . but after merge them as one figure,,  it need to use 2  UV set,, Ithen if there is alerady UV node,,I can change them easy,,in Node editor,,)

  • GenX: Converting G2 to G1

You have to dial in the Genesis2 Female Clone Shape also. Take a look in your Shaping Tab at: Genesis -> Actor -> Generation X -> **People**

The other thing that comes to mind, if you split up your Library somehow GenX2 will not work properly. That means the Genesis and Genesis2 Figures have to be in the same Library.

Take a look at the following path at your Hardrive: DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\data\DAZ 3D\

There should be a folder Genesis and a folder Genesis2 in there. Otherwise you will get not the desired transfer results.

If thats not helpful, you may post the issue in the official GenX2 Discussion: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/24079/genx2-and-genesis-2-addon-released-upgrade-ends-soon-commercial/p1

Okay, to keep this on topic, I just uploaded this fellow to my gallery.  Not my usual style.  I did this for Mec4D's contest over in her PBR Shaders Vol. 2 commercial thread.  She gave away some awesome free green shaders for St. Patrick's Day.

I saw this before you added the hat. I think both versions looked good. Did you use a specailty morph to create your leprechaun, or several of the body morphs? Either way, you did a fine job. He looks believable. smiley

  • Isabella 7 .... sooooooon

When I say her head is too big I don't mean for preference or impression: it physically oversizes other Genesis 3 character heads by a considerable margin (younger characters have a larger head to body ratio, but they don't have noticably larger heads than adults.)

Definitely; I took advantage of today's sale offer and got Izabella along with Olympia 7, and the head size difference is striking. I had to dial the Head Proportional Size way down from +2.5% to -10% before it looked right beside Olympia. A little bit of the Youth Morph from Zev0's Growing Up helped with the general body proportions.

Incidentally, I first tried a test render with both figures side by side, both using the Legacy Iray MAT and the default Iray environment light; Olympia came out looking good, but Izabella had a very greenish-yellowish tint to just her face. I'm running another test render just now with just Izabella, and so far the face looks right. Maybe a one-off glitch?

And as others have said, the Top Coat Bump Mode setting is definitely wrong — I switched them all to Normal, and a head and shoulders closeup really shows the fine skin structure and specularity. I just wish the base texture's eyebrows weren't quite so sharp-edged, heavy and dark.

Obviously I'm missing a step here, because it's not working.  I've tried converting Mei Lin twice. Each time afterwards, I've cleared the sceen, then loaded the G1 figure.  My new "morph" appears under shaping with the appropriate name and icon.  But when I select the morph and increase value to 1, all that happens is that my G1 shape gets shorter.  (Mei Lin is petite in stature.)

Hey, Butch! I wondered what happened to you!  Guess now I know.  smiley  I take it things have worked out successfully if you managed to get back here.  Personally, I hate Windows 10.  Working very hard to transfer everything to new OS, but sadly, haven't gotten DS to play nice with the new OS yet so I still have Windows 10 on my computer.  Someday soon, though, it goes bye-bye!  Welcome back.

Well, I now moved back to win 7, until I'm certain the pc's running with no issues. I don't mind win 10, so I'll reinstall when things are looking ok.  I've got 10 on my old pc and DS appears to work ok on it - although, the pc lacks the necessary oomph in the render dept.
