  • Gen 2 Base Male to Base Female Converter

Should work perfectly. G2M and G2F are the same mesh, they just have a different default morph. (Weight mapping is also different of course, but that would not effect the UV mapping).

Of course geografts might have issues, if the female ones are different to the male ones.

  • Help with morphing G2F to "plus size model"

    Bethany is for G3F though.

Ahh yes, I have missed that the OP had said G2F. In which case your best bet is the morph packs, in particularly morphs that change the body but not the face.

  • Show Us Your Bryce Renders! Part 9

    Thanks Horo. smiley

Haha Elvis. laugh I did wonder whether to try to develop the material more to crisp up the edges a bit.

Thanks Hansmar. Yes it was a bit of a compromise. The material started off ad the horses mane material from the mat library. I removed the Phase in the DTE to straighten the hairs out and originally, the hairs were thinner, but I was getting that odd effect from the bump that leaves a distinct line where the geomatry goes into shadow. I was also originally going to add a blob of poant to the top of the brush but ran out of time to get it done for Easter Sunday. smiley

S Ray: The large version on the screen is stretched vertically making the eggs look waaay too long, but the original looks great. Nicely lit and as I've watched several YouTube videos about this "dipping" method of transfer (on guitars and car wheel rims mostly), you've represented it very well.

C-Ram: Brilliant as always, seems you can turn your hand to anything and make it look great, but more than that, it still looks like something you have done which is a good thing because you have a pleasing 'style' to your scenes and renders.

  • Fairytale Princess Dress poses/morphs - strange behaviour

I'm seeing this, too, whether I use the preset pose or the morph dial. In addition, when I try to move any of the extra skirt bones (there's a bunch of them), I'm getting no action at all. Turning limits off has no effect.

Update: just found this link http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/73428/fairytale-princess-for-genesis-3-female-s-skirt-movements-do-only-work-if-loaded-complete-set If you load the whole preset, it works properly, even if you delete parts.

OK, guess there will come an update that fixes this then. Thanks!

  • What from G3* goes well with G2*

Clothes should AutoFit with a clone (there is one in the store, or make your own). Morphs should go across with the Transfer Utility. Textures would need the bake-via-Blender trick discussed in another thread for going in the other direction.

  • Daz Studio 4.8 to 4.9

Well I hope the situation is less catastrophic than you originally thought as without back-up the chances of improving the situation are slim. Maybe your best bet is to work improving on what you have got. When you have restored things I'd get a big external drive and make back-ups either of the Daz Studio installation or selected directories as specified under this thread

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/75619/with-ds-4-9-is-the-content-directory-transportable#latest

nb The directories you need to transfer onto other PCs and those you need to restore your categories would be the same.

  • Mortem Vetus @ Daz!

I can not understand why DAZ has marked so many of Mortem Vetus's M4 characters as Poser only. They work perfectly in DS on M4, and also transfer well to G2M using Generation X. Just seems pretty odd for the PA to miss on sales from people that are worried that this will not work in DS, when they do. Does not make any sense to me.

This is quite probably our fault. When they were originally uploaded to the RDNA store we always marked them as being Poser only. Not because of any anti-DS bias, but because we didn't use DS ourselves at that time. So if anyone encountered any problems in DS with them, we wouldn't have been able to assist. And product/customer support is extremely important to us, we will bend over backwards and do everything in our power to make sure our customers are happy with what they've bought. We appreciate that money is tight in this current global economic climate, so if some-one spends their hard earned bucks with us, we want to ensure they get the most value for it that it can be.

We've just started using DS since the merger, and we're throwing ourselves into it, so we hope that sooner rather than later, we'll be able to support it properly, although judging by the stunning renders of our stuff in DS we're seeing, we'll be coming to you guys for help and advice. :D

We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone. You're all inspiring us to push ourselves even harder to get up to speed with DS.

    Have a fantastic week

  • Jurassic Park/World Style Dinosaurs please..

Drages, did you make that T-Rex in your gallery yourself, while someone else rigged it?

If so, why not make all your own models?

DinoRaul makes some great items, and I have used them many times, sometimes retexturing them to their current purpose, or using them as is. Alessandro's 3D animals make it into my Cart almost instantly (especially the Shark, and Australian Animals), and as he mentions, DAZ focuses on humans, but are not limited to it. A good artist has many tools at their disposal, and interchanges them as needed.

Daz isn't your only tool in your toolkit, there are other tools (websites you can get animal/dinosaur content from), or, as earlier mentioned, if your making your own T-Rex of that quality, just keep making them yourself.

Designing, testing, alterations, and modifications take time. And an artist investing in creating an artwork that takes many hours is not likely to recoup that time, and when it is pirated and stolen, they won't get any money for their time investment. DAZ items would need to sell in volume at their prices, while something from TurboSquid would be pricier, but no less an income for the artist. Less sales, but higher value. That higher value has to come with additional work, quality, and consistency. Usually without support too.

DAZ problems are -usually- fixed quickly, and what I cannot get here, I either kitbash, morph, or modify myself. If a texture is out of date because the model is old, I'll either retexture it myself if I can, or ask the PA to look into modernising the textures for 3Delight or iRay. If they say no, fair enough, it's their time, and it's not free.

  • Sincere advice and help needed from long time Poser users now using DS

I moved over from Poser in July last year, and while it does take some getting used to, I've pretty much got a handle on it now.

I had to learn the various tools needed for different purposes. If you need to modify a texture or move a bone you can't do it without selecting the right tool first. If you want to bend a hand you'll need to select it with the ActivePose tool. I couldn't even figure out how to change a texture because I was using the wrong tool LOL. It was very frustrating at first. I do miss the Poser Morph tool though. And conforming clothes work differently as you can't select a sleeve eg. and move it seperately like Poser (or I don't think so).

I'm not big on tutorials and have learnt more by playing with DS every day and solving problems as they arise. So welcome to Daz Studio and I'm sure you won't regret it.

Links check out.  Entry Accepted.  Please Transfer it to the Entry Thread .

You found some fun freebies for this entry!

Most of the freebies I already had. Iray specific ones I needed to get, since I just started to fiddle with Iray after finding out, that this current computer can handle Iray far better than my previous one. It took about an hour to render this 3rd entry with Iray, when with my previous machine would have taken days.

These are Daz Milcat shaping presets for Daz3d.

Put in your Daz3D My Library/Presets/Shaping folder.

Put the pose files in My Library/Presets/Poses folder.

These can also be starting points to your own shaping presets.

Load up your milcat and pose if required, then use the MarkMilCatMorph in the Poses folder add the shaping preset.

    Can be gotten at

  • Sincere advice and help needed from long time Poser users now using DS

Well, thanks everyone... Will probably spring for the Fern/Ronya bundles with V7 & G3 morph freebies, at least the hair is usable in Poser too. I will probably be in the forum a lot though asking "How do I add a camera?" "Where is autofit?" "How do I add a light?" "Where do babies come from?" Kidding. But please feel free to answer the first three questions....Thanks :)

    1. Create (Alt-C) - New Camera...

    2. Autofit is really nice...it will pop up for most compatible products when you load the product into the scene if it's need. You can you right click in the Scene tab view on the object you want to Autofit and eg, Fit 'Genesis 2 Male to...'

    3. Create (Alt-C) - a list of several types of lights to choose from can be added

  • Mortem Vetus @ Daz!

I bought a stack of Mortem Vetus characters, they were very cheap with all the stacking discounts, and are very good quality, as well as being stuff that is tricky to find elsewhere. I will convert them to G2M as I pretty much never use M4 these days. I picked a pretty extreme morph to test the transfer to G2M first, this was the Toerag morph, a pretty good match for a Gollum like creature. The transfer worked perfectly, as can be seen in the image.

  • Mortem Vetus @ Daz!

Thanks!  I have used genx successfully in the past but it has been 4 years and I'm having trouble remembering the details.

One of the things that I've had to do with both Mortem Vetus and Brahann characters is to search the GenX panel for the custom morphs. Thankfully, the morphs and the character usually have the same name. For some reason that I don't understand, some custom morphs have a value of 0 even after they're loaded, and you have to search for them and change the value. (Ralf explained it to me at one point, but that was many moons ago, and I just don't remember why that sometimes happens.)

Alternatively, you can inject them into M4/V4, then export the fully morphed character, then put that through GenX. Doesn't always work -- some custom morphs just can't be recognized by GenX, for some reason -- but one or the other method usually works. I think I used the second method with Daemones and the first with Brahann's Alesia.

Ok that must have been what has frustrated me all afternoon.  No matter what I tried it kept telling me basically that all morphs were zero.  I'll try hunting down the morph and adjusting the value by hand before transferring.  On the other hand, I did the load M4 and inject the morphs then export as a new cr2 and it does seem to have worked once I was reminded that I had to dial in M4 on genesis first before dialing in the morph.  Anyone know if it is possible to have the new morph automatically dial in M4 at the same time?

Dialing in M4 is not necessary in the procedure I outlined a couple posts back.

Those do look nice and I may pick them up as well, but I'm curious where you got the environment with Dol Guldur since I would be very interested in that.
