Lower Eyelash Fix for G2F?
Sometimes, when applying different head morphs to a G2F figure, I discover that the lower eyelash no longer convincingly follows the contour of the lower eyelid. There is an unrealistic gap between the eyelash and eyelid as well. (The lashes still sit upon the skin, but they are lower than they should be).
The Teen Josie 6 head morph makes this worse, but some characters (the only one I can think of at the moment is Madeline for Stephanie 6) have this problem in the original product. Of course, thick eyeliner somewhat conceals this, but I like to have the choice of a natural skin.
My question is: Does anyone know how to remedy this, and would you give an explanation that a 10-year old (of reasonable intelligence) could comprehend?
Thanks
Save Dialled-in CharacterIf you model a custom clothing item to fit the character shape, will the transfer utility treat each of these methods the same? For example, lets say that the character is some Frazetta-style hero with sixpack abs, but I want to create a loose fitting shirt. If I model the loose fitting shirt around the dialed up muscleman, and then use the transfer utlity to convert the shirt to conformable clothing, I don't want the sixpack abs to imprint on the shirt. Does it matter if the character creation method was export/import, master dial controller, shape preset, etc?
Aeon Souls Alice for Genesis 3?I don't think FSMCDesigns was saying that tho - I think he/she was simply saying they have seen Alice for Genesis but not for G3.
I remember seeing that AS had recreated their Alice for Genesis 3 but only for their own use (promos, art etc). The last I read is that they had no plans to create her for Genesis 3; they have said something like she is too personal for them to do that.
I also remember reading - and I hope someone else can back me up on this because it's quite vague in my memory - is that they copped a lot of flak over Alice for a while....about how she looked etc....and it soured them to the extent that they don't want to go through it again.
Alice is VERY distinctive - she is their "brand", you see Alice and you KNOW it's an Aeon Soul piece of art or creation. So I can definitely understand them wanting to keep her to themselves. As much as I'd love to see Alice for G3F - I've always liked her face - I can understand adn accept them keeping her as their "brand", their "signature".
So far Alice has not been released for any version of Genesis.
there was an Alice Morph for genesis 1, but haven't seen anything for 2 or 3.
So what are you saying it's Genesis 3 poses but they don't use Genesis 3 in the promo, that's not posible as a vendor I know you have to use the figure it was designed for or the art gets rejected, unless they are really lazy and could be bothered to render Genesis 3 and pinched it from other promo set. So I'm thinking this is Genesis 3 with some sort of Alice morph on it. So it could very well be a new Alice coming which would be excellent !!! come on AS there's a lot of people who want her !!!

Knittingmommy's LaboratoryCrinkly is a real word I believe and I would love free wolf poses. I am sure there will be plenty of other people who will want and appreciate them as well. I think sometimes we are our own worst critics. I don't like most of what I do either. But I still have fun doing it so I will keep doing it. Although, I have some major flops too lol.
Well, that's good! I was planning on having you test them out for me when I was ready to package them up.
You want flops? Boy could I give you flops.
Very few of us can be totally objective about our own "art". I have had images I was so proud of, post them and all I get are crickets. Other images are so/so and for whatever reason they resonant with someone, or sometimes even a few someones, who take the time to comment or fav, or whatever.
I imagine that is very true, both being able to give me flops and the part about being objective. :)
Well, the storm here ended and I was able to do some more experiments with Daemones since we never lost power. I managed to get rid of all of the eye morphs for the squint that doesn't play well with G2M. Then I was able to dial back in an expression very similar to the one that came with Daemones originally. I'm quite pleased with the results. The added benefit of doing it this way is that all of the eye morphs are now controlled with the G2M morph dials so I can also dial out any squinting that conflicts with an expression. Now I can control the amount of squint with the G2M controls and dial it in and out depending on the expression.
I ran another side by side comparison with the expression INJ loaded onto M4 and a similar expression dialed into G2M which I think got really close to the original. I'll let you guess which is which.
I ran a render without the squint just in case anyone wants to see what that looks like.
Mortem Vetus @ Daz!I love your gritty male characters and I will probably get more of them in the future. Even though I'm happy using M4, it sure would be nice to see characters like that on G2 or G3 in the future.
Has anybody tried transfering any of these MV character morphs using Gen X and add-ons?
I got a chance to play around with Daemones today and converted him to Genesis 2. The conversion itself went well. He looks almost exactly the same with just a couple of minor issues with his eyes. I think he squints a little more when converted to G2M. I'm trying to see what I can do about that as I was unsuccessful in unsquinting his eyes after conversion. The skin had a slight problem with stretching around the shoulder and obvious lines around the jaw where the textures don't quite meet as they should. It is weird because in the view port it looked great. The imperfections only showed up during rendering. I don't know if that has anything to do with how I ended up having to save the texture for use on G2M.. I ended up applying it to M4 then saving it as a .duf materials preset and then applying to G2M and then making sure to select M4 UV (otherwise it was a total mess). At any rate, I did finally manage to get the skin on G2M correctly and looking nice.
After all that, I ended up trying out my favorite Iray ready skin texture on the G2M model with the Daemones morphs loaded. Added Mec4D's Unshaven 2 for the beard and some body hair with Real Hairy. He looks good, but now he's too pretty. Sort of what a younger version of Daemones would have looked like, maybe. I'll have to play with the original skin some more because I like the skin now that I've got it looking nice on G2M. It looks great in Iray if you use the Iray Uber Shader. Not so great if you use the Iray Converter for Gen 4 as it does something strange to the skin so the chest hair and beard look painted on in a bad way. However, I haven't quite got the eyes looking nice in Iray, yet, with Iray Uber Shader. The eye settings with Iray Converter for Gen 4 was really good. I need to play with the surface settings some more and see if it is possibly to figure what the Iray Converter did to the eyes so I can use it with the Iray Uber Shader. Andrew and Tracey did a great job on the skin and even though it was done before Iray, it converts really well.
Just in case anyone wants to see the two side by side I did a test render. G2M is on the left and M4 is on the right. I think G2M looks like a slightly thinner version. I'm putting the other renders up in my gallery if anyone wants to see them. Just click on the link in my sig. I'll be testing out The Slinger tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how he looks on G2M. Other good news, my missing products are now showing up in my account and they have shown up in DIM for download so I'm a very happy lady! There were even a couple of MV products in there I had forgotten I'd bought. I'll double check tomorrow, but it looks like all of my missing MV products are there.

So, I went back into GenX to try the conversion over again. I wanted to see if I could eliminate the squint morphs on the M4 figure before the conversion since the converted figure doesn't play well with those morphs. I'm happy to say that it was successful. So, anyone wanting to convert Daemones to G2M using GenX can do the following:
After you do everything to load all of the morphs for the figure into GenX,
Select> Transfer: On for all non-zero value morphs
Then go back through the list and click on the head morphs list. Go down through the list and deselect all of the morphs for the eyelids and the squint morph.
This should give you a converted figure with no morphs associated with the eyelids or squinting, but still leave you with the morphs that relate to size and shape for Daemones. After you convert and apply the conversion to G2M, the squint can be added in to look just like it does on M4 using just the morph controls for G2M with the added benefit that you can now control the amount of squint to the eyes and remove some if it interferes with any expression morphs. I managed to get real close to the expression INJ provided with Daemones with the G2M controls. I did, also, have to add back in some of the baggy eye as I think I took that out with the eyelid morphs. So, I re-ran my side by side render with the new figure and one of these is M4 with the expression INJ morph and the other is G2M. Care to guess which is which?
March 2016 New User 3D Art Contest “Posing” (WIP Thread)The archer is posed perfectly. Agree with the others you need something to support it.
An ideas so it doesn't look like she has a post coming out of her rear end or a big ugly pole in front of the fountain? I tried those options and they don't look good at all. I am open to suggestions.
I'm looking at it and thinking...with water spraying from the top of the fountain...it looks like there is a jet in position...it would look as if she was sitting on something. And if that is the case, any support would be hidden in the column of water...but without that spray, it does look as if it is somehow unbalanced.

GenX: Converting G2 to G1Yay! We have lift-off!

Finally I can morph Mei Lin (and other G2) to G1. You have my thanks!
Show Us Your Iray Renders. Part VMore postwork experimenting. This time I was going for something along the lines of Lely or Vigée-Lebrun, that sort of glowy baroque portraiture.
Also despite using a Gen2 skin and morph, and hair that's actually Gen3 there. Yes I'm transferring morphs now. Don't expect a tutorial on this though, its 60% straight up manual modeling.
Really lovely work!

DAZ Studio Feature request: Morph toolI didn't know you could modify a d-former with a weight map. This sounds like it would work theoretically, but I also suspect it would be very tedious to use in practice for little touch-ups and probably take longer than remodelling the clothing or adding a new morph in Zbrush. What would be ideal is something like a brush that gives immediate feedback on what verticies have been moved as you move the brush over the clothing (or figure).
Zone Smoother for Genesis 3 Female Male(s) and Female(s) [Commercial] **PRE-RELEASE UPDATE :)Hi,,, I serched this product topic,, because I actually content with product much,,(it was right decision for me,,, to get this product ,,)
and,, I hope to imporve (or up-date) this product too (version up!) ^^
I usually simply export current shape,, and modify it in other modelor,, then return ds as temp corrective morph for current scene only, this product is helpful for the purpose too,, when I can not content the final morph produced by this tool,I use low value smooth,,,, then export the smoothed mesh (if I need more adjustment) ,, it make my work easy.
then,, my request is,,,, now this product work well,,about each main nodes area mesh with bending,, (or each nodes zone?)
but,,, I hope to set smooth zone, more narrow area too,,, eg,, Now when I try to smooth Things and plevis,, ,,this product is good to smooth between joint area,,and it seems work well for abdomen ,,but it tends to shirink all Thighs too ,,, (so some how,, Thighs become clear thin.then if I keep low smooth,, the problem area not turn so smooth,,^^;)
though it may be best,, if I can manage zone, by somehow,, weight map,, or tool colored circle,(like default D-former weit,, or smooth selection,, like other app,,) but,, as substitue,, if zone smoother 2 (I expect it ) can set zone,, for, each nodes half area,, eg (upper Thingh , lower Thigh) it can be more useful tool I believe..
maybe it cause some problem or make distortion gap,, when smooth more narrow area only,, but I feel,, user can adjust the effect,,(eg,, 1,, I set smooth for all Thigh part,, then make morph,, return value zero,, 2. set smooth for only upper part,, then make morph2, user can make new morph with tchange hese 2 morph value,,, easy,,)
ANyway thank you offer good smart tool(and simple easy use) ,, ,please keep version up-date this product,,,(of course I buy it again, when up-daed but hope,,, vonus price ^^;,, I really feel this tool is useful when pose for genesis3female actors now.
Thanks for checking it out, kitakoredaz! I agree, it would be cool to be able to change the size of the zone. I'm not honestly sure if that's something I could implement (the tool works with predefined zones, which is one of the reasons it's figure-specific), but I will deifnitely investigate and see what's possible
.oh yes, a zone size value (slider) would be cool
I would even settle for another speedometer dial for it, similar the iterations one.
Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 7Testing out the easy presets for the new Iray Render Studio. The presets are very easy to use but I would recommend reading the pdf that comes with it there are a couple of things in odd places that might not be obvious or easy to find. This is straight out of the box no color or intensity changes. Definitely not my usual style but I think easily adabtable. Would work maybe for sci fi or alien lighting as well. This is VG with Hannah head morph, a free garden swing and the pj top from wilmat for G2 The rest is all Iray Render Studio. I think this one is going to be an awful lot of fun to play with.
Zone Smoother for Genesis 3 Female(s) Is AWESOME!!Thanks for the much needed enhancement. Is there a commercial support thread for this?
May be I am not using it properly, but I am facing issues where the crease fold between the hips is getting erased even when I am using it to smoothen between the glute and thighs.
Also, how do I remove the redundant morph dials when I rotate my figure at the hip? Is there a workaround of reusing those morphs once the character is rotated around the hip?
EDIT: Found the commercial support thread at https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/73284/zone-smoother-for-genesis-3-female-s-commercial. Awaiting a response there.
One Button Utility: Convert All Lighting To Iray At The Same IntensityI assume by Daz Render you mean 3Delight? The basic lights are already Iray and 3Delight, switching with the engine. uberEnvironment is doing some or all of the stuff Iray always does - all you'd need to do would be transfer any environment map to the Iray dome in render Settings under the Advanced tab. Most of the other light types do things that don't make sense in a PBR render engine like Iray.
DAZ Studio Feature request: Morph toolAlthough neither is a morph tool as such there are a couple of workarounds using weight maps - a DForm with a weight map, and a Push Modifier with a weight map via a node weight influence node.
DAZ Studio Feature request: Morph toolI could not find another thread with this subject so:
One of the most useful features of Poser is the morph tool. Isn't it about time this feature was introduced into DAZ Studio?
I accept that DS has great autofit and auto mesh smoothing features but sometimes they just don't work well enough.
Typical situations that the DAZ auto tools have difficulty with (and probably were not designed specifically for) are:
1) extreme pose positions
2) countering some morphs (eg JCMs) built in to certain clothing which behave badly in some poses
3) extreme morphs on the base figure which go beyond what the clothing designer had in mind
4) use of non-supported (and even some supported) clothing/hair figures on Genesis 3 figures.
With the current technology there are some situations where a little extra push or pull or smooth would help to avoid postwork.
Sure it is possible to export a troublesome item to Zbrush or other such program, but this is DAZ has currently limited all exports to Zbrush to base mesh only, presumably for marketing conciderations. In any case, not everyone can afford Zbrush and even if you can, it's still a hassle.
What is needed (I believe) is a brush tool for minor morphs, pushes, pulls, smoothing, nips and tucks. Yes, deformers can do a lot but they are geometrically limited to spherical regions of application on a single deformer.
Discussion? Agreement, disagreement (with alternatives)?
Poser vs. DAZWhat DS needs are advanced easy dependency editor features. ERC-freeze appears very limited to me. A morph brush whould be lovley too. Poser is still stuck in the 90s' technologie and its users reject any progress afraid they are loosing V4 compability. I still will use both. I guess Poser mainley because of upcomming ProjectE release.
In the end I will go with that software, that offers pro features for pro figures. Just pose Genesis3F next to Poser's Pauline and you know who has really blown it.
There's also the property hierarchy tab. turn on edit mode in the parameters and its pretty much click and drag. DS does actually have pretty advanced dependency tools, but they are just very undocumented (you can find some documentation you just have to go searching) Thankfully for me, I'm the sort of person whow likes fiddling around to explore features.
Aeon Souls Alice for Genesis 3?Okay I do not remember if that was on RDNA, don't think so because AS was leaving before the melting of the sites.
And there was a big farewell sales and then it was all gone and I can't find it here.
Yes she can do whatever morph she want, I was jusy curios about if there was a Genesis version and now I know there is not.
Aeon Souls Alice for Genesis 3?If that was one of the outfits that was over on RDNA there would have been a V4 version as well.
To the best of my recollection the last iteration of Alice which was released was Alice/Yly in 2014. I'm pretty sure she was spun off from the free Alice 5 body morph and had a face that looked very much like their current promo girl. But Alice/Yly was still a gen4 figure.
Well, hey, it's AS. They can develop their own morphs on whatever figure base they please and use them for whatever purpose they choose.
