Glacier Queen Fix
Isn't there a way to drap these in Poser and export that pose or whatever, to be used in DS? I seem to remember doing that in the past.....
Drape in poser, export draped cloth as .obj, then load that obj as a morph in DS.
Transfer Dawn character morph to G2F?I've never used the Dawn or Dusk characters and I really have no plan on doing so. However, I did see a character that I was interested in for Dawn and I was wondering if there was a way or if someone had created a product to transfer the character to Genesis or Genesis 2 (could even be V4 with GenX I suppose)
When feet don't touch the floorAfter additing some models have that problem - their legs are too short or too long and the feet are above or under the floor. How can we fix it? Ofcourse I can just move the model but after posing or reopening it's position is wrong again. Need to solve it inside the morph. I tryed to fix it with ERC Freeze, didn't work. Any ideas?
Help with Genesis 2 Male EyesIf you increase the Eyes Cornea Bulge: max out to 1, the result will be even more natural. Also, sometimes the defaultr camera light plays havoc on the scene. It sometimes helps if you drop a spotlight into the scene and switch it to "off" during render.
Thank you! Turns out this is in a G2M morph product in the Daz store. Fortunately I found a similar item free on ShareCG.
I do have the headlamp turned off for my camera and in render settings, so that should not cause an issue.I never realized that was in the morph pack...huh. Well... its just so essential, kinda assume everyone has it, I guess.
Help me plsWhat did you copy? As I said, it appears you have the database but not the actual content that it catalogues.
Ok sir . Show me step by step
How can I transfer all data of Daz to I new PC
Old PC is 32 bit . New PC is 64 bit help me pls
Sorry for bad English
Problems with posingSince than I had to face this problem several times again. But usually it worked if I closed and opened Daz two or three times. But now it is not that easy. Currently I have a scene with Izabella 7 and some custom morphs, where the posing gets weird. I lokked at the log file and the only thing, I can see, which semms to be related to the morph are these warnings:

I do have the headlamp turned off for my camera and in render settings, so that should not cause an issue.DS G3 hair into Poser to fit V4?G2 hair might be usable via the DSON importer, using the usual "move/scale/rotate/morph to fit then parent to head" technique for using hair not intended for your target figure.
G3 hair most probably uses dual-quaternion rigging like G3, so it won't work in Poser unles you re-convert it to triax rigging so that it has a chance to work via the DSON importer.
Genesis 3 and HD Morphs in Carrara 8.5Heya All!
This thread is in two parts. Part 1 is a suggestion on how to get some Genesis 3 characters working more or less as expected within Carrara 8.5 Pro. Part 2 is a request for help implementing what I hope is another useful workaround for the HD morphs issue.
Part 1
Genesis 3 isn't compatible with Carrara 8.5 at this point. I've heard some rumblings about an update but seen nothing so far. A few days ago GenX2 Add-on for Genesis 3 was released. This is awesome because I am now able to literally transfer Genesis 3 characters and morphs onto standard Genesis models which work just fine in Carrara aside from geografting. I save the loaded Genesis out of DazStudio as a .duf and it loads into Carrara with full posing capability.
Yay! Genesis 3 in Carrara is no longer completely impossible!!!
Part 2
But as we also know, the lower polygon structure of Genesis 2 and 3 mean that HD morphs are needed to bring out the best. Since Carrara doesn't yet do HD and I cannot image that it suddenly would, what can we do? Displacement seems like the most likely candidate to my mind. If the HD morphs themselves were at some point image based, such as a Z-brush workflow, then it seems plausible to assume that if one had access to those original height maps that they could produce a displacement effect that would be visually similar to that of the HD morphs as viewed in DazStudio.
Since those original mega-resolution height maps likely will remain guarded, a user would need to use cleverness to extract the height map information from the resulting final morphs themselves. One method I've used is to dial in certain morphs to extreme levels, and then to render out an AO pass using Shader Baker in DazStudio. This sort of converts the 3d information into 2d information that I can manipulate in a compositing application.
It's far from perfect, mind you.
What I am wondering is if anyone has considered a product line of Displacement Maps which can provide HD surface contours for those users who don't own software that supports HD? I was surprised to notice that none of the HD Morph packages come supplied with corresponding Displacment Maps.
I am looking for any advice anyone can offer on how best to accomplish HD level details in Carrara. As stated, my best plan so far is to employ Displacement. But I'm no artist and the idea of having to draw them by hand for things like elbow wrinkles and knee folds is terrifying. Maybe there are those with experience in these areas who can offer a tip or two. I am not yet fully aware of the limitations of displacement in Carrara/Octane, so maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree completely.
I am open to all suggestions.
Thanks all for your time.
Howdy,
I have been waiting, what feels like forever for DAZ to support Genesis 3 in Carrara. When GenX2 for Genesis 3 came out, I was stoked. I purchased it immediatly, and have been messing around converting Genisis 3 figures to Genesis 2 figures. Which of course wooks fine (as long as you don't use the HD morphs), but the issue as mentined above is textures. So, I asked this question in the Technical help board: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/95106/now-that-we-have-genx2-for-genesis-3#latest
I was provided a link to a tutorial that shows you how to use Blender to convert textures between models. It took some time, but I have got a workign version of Jolina HD http://www.daz3d.com/jolina-hd-for-victoria-7 for Carrara. The morph works, but I am still tweaking the textures using shaders in Carrara. Once I am satisifed with the results, i'll post them to my gallery, and provided a link for those that are interested.
Is Diane the only maker of expression dials? It's been a long time since I did anything with GenX. I think most of what I did do was even back before GenX2 came out. But I should think that there wouldn't be much difference.
At the time, I was moving morphs from gen4 to Genesis 1. So my recollections are some 4 years back. And it worked exactly like moving any head morph to G1 You dragged the presset icon for the expression into the window for what you wanted to morph, named it, and exported as a single morph. It came in on a dial. And if you are porting expressions, ypou probably want to make a point of naming them in some way so they will land in a separate GenX Subdirectory so you don't have to hunt them out of the rest of your ported morphs.
There were some limitations. And I barely knew what I was doing, so I didn't go hunting through the lists of what was being affected, and unchecking things that I didn't want. So I might have been able to get better control of the end result than I did, if I had. Morphs designed for specific characters sometimes warped your target into that character's face, so if you could get the expression without messing up your target character's morph, I didn't go hunting a way to do it (it may be possible). With a group of expressions that came with Arcebus's Alyson -- who is a V4 character morphed down to a young teen, the expression came in clean, but the head size always increased and needed to be dialed back through propagating head size.
All of the Alice 4 expressions came over without a hitch, but turned out to need to be used in very small increments, since some of them went really overboard when they got dialed in. But they did come in and *everything* came in on a dial.
I haven't redone the lot for G2 or G3 yet, and really ought to.
Glacier Queen FixVery nice work. If you do any morph fixes, I would suggest posting just the fixes on sharecg so we can all enjoy and of course give you credit. If you are handy with Hexagon has a bridge (if you can make it work) or better yet Blender you can bring these meshes into the 3D modeler of your choice and fix them permantly and mod them to fit perfectly with the characters and morphs of your choice. Sickleyield has a tutorial for Blender and Daz clothing morphs on her Deviantart page.
Would you find these promos useful?Nope, you're one of my favourite PAs. :)
Currently considering Gracie; is the HD morph seperate?
http://www.daz3d.com/ly-gracie-hd
... And that character's promos are a great example of showing what's possible, and what we're getting.
for my characters, you can load in an HD character or a base character.... but I don't use a seperate HD button.

Looking for free morphs of the Clintons and Bernie SandersYep, and its a fun V4 morph fun too. Made this animation with that head morph grafted on the DAZ Mosquito...

Thanls.Greetings,
Sadly 9mbi had a Hillary that wasn't too bad, for V4. I still have access to 9mbi's web site, but you can't buy anything there anymore.

Thanks! In case you are looking for it, 9mbi's morph is now at Vanishing Point: http://www.vanishingpoint.biz/productdetail.asp?productID=1346
Put a link there, not sure if it will show though. Meanshile, it is $15 which is currently out of my price range. = (

Is Diane the only maker of expression dials?A few notes, just to make sure everything goes as you expect. This will repeat what JCade said with just a few additional notes specific for expressions.
1. Load your Genesis 3 figure. In the scene tab, make sure the figure is selected.
2. Apply (double click) on the expression pose you want made into a dial.
3. In the parameters tab, go to Pose Controls and drill down to Head/Expressions.
4. Right click Expressions and select Edit mode.
5. Right click in the dial fields and Create New Property. At this time, you should check the path on the popup. It should read Pose Controls/Head/Expression. To distinguish the morphs you are making from the rest of the list, I recommend adding /<name of package you are making the dials from> and match the name of the preset. If it's a custom morph you are making, then just give it a unique name so you have a new folder; it's a lot easier to find than scrolling through a ton of morphs. You, indeed, do not need to create an empty morph.
6. Slide the dial up to 100, right click the dial and ERC freeze (follow what JCade said about weird extra properties).
7. Click the gear on the dial and choose Parameters.
8. Set min to 0 and max to 100.
7. Right click dial and uncheck Edit mode.
8. Save as file>save as>support asset>morph asset
9. Drill down to the dial you made and checkmark it. Under Vendor Name, you can put your own so it makes a folder in the data folder of your My Daz3d Library with your name on it. In addition, you can add the name in Product Name, so it makes a subfolder to put the assets in. This just makes things clean and easy to find.
10. Zero out your expression dial and start a new scene with a new load of your figure to test out your expression dial(s).
I don't have an answer to Genesis 2. As far as I know unless someone can do a script, which would probably still require some individual selections per preset to dial, it's the steps given per.
I am a beginner at Daz but I tried this on a expression since I prefer expressions in dial form so I can choose how much of a epression I want, many expressions are a bit extreme. I have a problem with step 9, the dial I made doesn't appear in the list so I can't checkmark it. I tried to follow everything you said, I have no idea what I did wrong.
If the parameter is visible in the parameters pane it should show in the asset save dialogue.
Moving my G2M figures to G3MOr a third choice is to keep your G2M characters and add characters that are new and G3M; I've never understood this urge to endlessl transfer characters to new generations.
Me 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 or 7.
Tutorial: Converting Old Facial Hair to G3F/G3M with DS4.8+ UPDATED!Very useful - just followed it with a beard for M4 (as an aside, c'mon DAZ .. I can search for 'Beard' in Content and it will find MAT poses for LorezLorenzo but it won't find Beard_M4????). Had to interject an additional step to convert the item to general weight-mapped before transfer utility would list it, but apart from that, simple, clear and it works, thank you :)

V7 materials on V6 is it possible? This utility allows you to use Genesis 3 female skins on Genesis 2
https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/legacy-uvs-for-genesis-3-v4/113767/
I think the Vicki7 skins use a unique UV map that the basic Genesis 3 female cannot use. But there are advanced Genesis 3 character shaders sold here in the store you could use... with that transfer utility
The product you linked to allows for V4 skins to be used on G3F and that vendor has another product that allows the use of G2F skins to be used on V7. I don't know of any product that allows for Genesis 3 skins to work on older generations
