  • Fitting clothes with Transfer Utility

I haven't used d-formers before. So, that'll be something else for me to learn about.

I've been messing around with the clothing, and trying to fit some clothes to Star! But, I think I'm finding the waists and chests of the clothing the hardest thing to adjust.

I've also tried to import obj clothing to Daz3D so I can turn it into something useable for G2F. But after the transfer utility, the clothing returns to a small size, and is at the feet of the model that I'm trying to import it to.

Thank you for the replies ^^

one thing to absolutely remember, the object you are trying to transfer the rigging to cannot be altered or moved in any way inside Daz.

For example, you want to trnsfer rigging to a hat, but the hat loads on the floor, then you need to move the character down until it's head is under the hat where it should be.

or if a glove is the size of a finger, tehn you need to scale the hand down to fit inside the glove rather than scale the glove up to fit the hand.

Then, using currect on the source and the reverse morph option checked, it will automagically resize and reposition the object where it should be when the character is returned to normal size and position.

  • Fitting clothes with Transfer Utility

I bought a couple of transfer uitilities & tried to use to to transfer M4 carnival clothing to G3M but it failed. Maybe it only transfers from M4, V4 to G, G2M, G2F. And then something else has to be done to get them to G3M & G3F...

Valzheimer's Wear Them All products can transfer V4, M4, Gen1, G2F, G2M clothes from their sources to G3F or G3M in one go. http://www.daz3d.com/valzheimer

Furthermore, G3F and G3M have G2F and G2M clones included, so you can always transfer up to G2F/G2M, then up to G3F/G3M.

  • ActivePose tool broken with Genesis 3

Hi the "pins" are a primitive form of an IK switcher for Daz studio.
Like any IK switcher it is specific to the IK chain hierarchy of the rig for which it was designed .

Along with the new facial bones ,Genesis 3 has one extra limb bone
    in each Leg & arm.
This is the source of all of the posing& animating problems with Genesis 3 within Daz studio.

The current Marketing mantra is that G3 is better suited than G2 for Use in "other platforms'

Well that depends on the definition of "better suited"

The facial bone rig exported as FBX $$Autodesk Maya or Max,
or Unity will give you the option of having bone based facial expressions in those platforms.

G3 also exports as FBX to Iclone Pro but the facial bone rig offers no advantage over G2 as Iclone supports morph based animation for G1-G2 with very accurate lipsynch.
and while G3 poses&animates wonderfully after export to Iclone Pro ,Maya Unity etc.

None of those "other platforms" will help the Daz user who wants to animate G3 in its actual native program ...DAZ studio.

Yeah that could also be the case since Victoria's morph is not listed in there.

  • Fitting clothes with Transfer Utility

I do not really understand the transfer utility but I have successfully managed to transfer a V4 outfit(Kali) to G2 and retain the posing bones by following a sickleyield tutorial, the last step of which warns that the object being fitted might end up at the figures feet, which requires one more step to fix: Select the figure and then the item with ctrl+click in Scene Tab (in this order).   Click on the tiny icon that looks like three lines and a triangle to the upper right of the scene tab.  Activate Edit—Rigging—Transfer Rigging (Figure Space).

Again, no idea if this will apply but the result you are having issues with reminded me of that. Worth a try?

  • *How to Put a Morph (ERC) Dial on a Pose*

If you mean making dials for existing poses, sure, at least *.duf poses.

Load, say, G3F, and apply the pose. G3F should be selected for next steps.

Click with right mouse button of the parameters tab (on the letters Parameters) to get a menu and from the menu select Edit Mode. You will get a P next to parameters.

Click with right mouse button on any of the parameters to get a menu and from menu pick ERC Freeze.

In ERC Freeze Options window, click on "Create New..." button.

Now, in Create New Property window, I usually just type in the name and hit "Create" button. But you might take a time to fill in name, label, path (thats the menu dials will be in parameters tab; if you wish to make a new menu just type it manually or add to existing ones, like Actor/Pose Dials) and Type, like Modifier/Pose. Once done, click "Create" and in ERC Freeze Options window you should have your "new property name" in the Property field. Click on the "Accept" button and you should now have a dial for that pose in whatever menu you decided to put it in, dialed already to 100%.

Dial it to 0, apply next pose to the G3F and repeat the procedure (with different name for the new property). :)

You can save the dials with File - Save As - Support Asset - Morph Asset(s)...

To exit/deactivate Edit mode, click with right mouse button on the parameters tab and in the menu click again on Edit Mode.

    Here, I just mixed first 10 G3F poses. :D

Good stuff, this will come in handy, thanks!

  • fbx anim import into DS 4.5

    Hi  phil_ffd678f3c1

Check out this tutorial, you will learn how you can transfer animations from Motion Builder back to Daz Studio using Genesis 2 and 3 characters. This pipeline is straightforward, and animations transfer with accuracy with no data loss. it will take you less than 5 minutes!

  • Basic DIM install--Which files

Obviously, DAZ Studio and Postgresql. The Starter Essentials, of course. I'd also install the base characters, and base morph packages.

Whatever Plugins you have bought; though some might be better installed manually.

  • What features would you like to see appear in dazstudio 5?

I'm also longing for a Poser style morph brush to push a little bit of geometry around. It was awsome to be able to shink morph clothing and put in creases. And also morph depressions onto beds, pillows and chairs etc.

  • Help identifying this character please!

Yeah, might as well do that. :)

Yeah, might as well do that. :)

You can pretty much get a texture that looks like that by buying the Aiko SnowFlake character from Virtual_Worlds. You just need to create a layer in the LIE Baker that adds freckles.

Yeah, I actually thought of that! The morph definitely looks close. Thanks :)

  • GenX2 Update / Genesis 3 Add-On [Commercial]

You don't need a pose to transfer a morph like Kenji. Kenji is a single morph, you can transfer it directly. To do so, you use the transfer mode "Selected morphs" and select the Kenji morph dial in the morph list of GenX. (You only need the main dial, all depedent morphs are included in the transfer automatically.)

  • Zero my Hero question.

Hey, shadowhawk1, one thing I've found is that Zero seems to work well with G2M too! I've been playing a bit with it (on G2F) and found that JoeQuick's done a great job with the material zones so that it can work with multiple designs, not just the Pink Ranger look that it automatically loads up as.

G3F clothes don't transfer to G2M (that I've found; if anyone has a more direct link, please feel free to share), but if you save the G2F file, you can use G2F files to transfer to G2M. Re-conform the suit, gloves, boots, and belt (it took me a few tries because I left DS really confused), then bring over the helmet and scarf separately as props.

The belt looks a bit like a crazy codpiece on G2M, but it could probably be swapped out for a different belt.

  • do alot of you guys use gen 2 clonths on gen 3 figures

I occasionally go all the way back to the third generation (some A3 outfits). I often end up using the transfer utilitiy for additonal tweaking when auto-fit trips up. Just be careuful with "use near verticies". WHen I brought Paragons and Paladins over I had to bump that up and ended up with a huge polygon count (I thikn 450megs+ IIRC -- that scene always takes forever to load). On the other hand, the transfer it worked (M4 to G2M) well enough to use.

    http://argel1200.deviantart.com/art/Paladin-and-Paragon-vs-Balach-555341262?q=gallery:argel1200/29282196&qo=1

The crotch area has been a problem for me -- Lara Croft style action poses and e.g. even horse riding poses can make problems there obvious where a walking pose would not. Oh, and shoes are the worst. I end up using shoes from G3 native outfits more often than not.

  • Creating morph dials for character distribution

Yes, right-click with the Genesis 3 Female figure selected, create new property, right-click, ERC Freeze, make sure the shaping morphs are listed at the bottom of the pane and the new property is selected at the top, make sure the slider iss etting the morph on and off, zero the new morph, save as morph asset, make sure you have the new morph (only) selected in the options dialogue.

  • Creating morph dials for character distribution

Did you have the shape set when you ddi the ERC Freeze? the operation is tying all of the changed parameters to the one you select as controller so the changes have to be in effect for itt o do anything.

You can set the cotnent directory to be used at the top of the options dialogue when saving the morph asset - though ti will function if it is in a different content directory from the rest of the figure (I always advise putting all your files - textures, new assets, and user fiels - in an otherwise empty content directory so that you can quickly bundle them up for distribution without having to search them out among the other files and rebuild the folder tree.

  • Using GenX - How do I just transfer just a Head morph from M4 To Gen 3 Male?

    Thanks for the responses guys!

The reason I'm doing this, is due to the strange way the bodies of the older characters behave post transfer.

I want just the heads so I can use Gen 3 body shapes so I dont have these strange behaviors, such as pointed feet.
