THANK YOU, Aave Nainen
This hair is ... beautiful, I just load the base hair and it drapes so nicely. I highly recommend adding each peice as needed. Add the base, pose it and if you want more, add another peice, pose and so on. I still think long hair should have bones to help with posing, but I'm very pleased with it. This pic is just the base hair with the wet morph to make it more smooth.
Adding body parts to M3Without going into creating new geometry, the easiest way would be load 2 M3s, parenting the second to the body of the first. you would then go the Heiarchy Editor and toggle off the visibility of everything for the second M3s one except the pinkie
You would then apply the same materials and pose to each M3, then pose the second M3's pinkie. It would be a bit cumbersome...
...I gave it a go; I unhid the dials for the first M3's first pinkie jount and translated it 0.175" in Z , and pulled the outside of the second M3's hand a bit with the morph brush after dialing in some side to side. (edit; I should add I increased the x scale of the actors of the first M3's pinkie by about 35% to lenghen it.) It's not great, but it's sextidigital and it only took a few minutes.
What morph do I need to create a new character to sell in the store?I have found Blender fairly easy to use to create various character morphs as for that all you need to use are the sculpting tools - I still can't get my head around modelling even a cup from scratch in Blender so don't be put off trying the character morph even if the rest of Blender is a mystery :)
Morph Parameter Settings HelpThanks for the reply. I tried to attach the image now. Hope it works...
I really try to understand the rig and morph system used in Daz in general and used with Genesis 3 in detail. Freeze ERC delivers a list of [DeltaAdd] and I really like to understand how this works. I'm coming from Poser and I'm relatively new to Daz. I like Genesis 3 a lot and the quaternion weighting, as this is exactly the same system that is used in Cinema 4D spherical weighting. I miss some detailed technical explanation of the MCM and JCM system, as well as other things. The documentation at Daz seems to be a bit outdated or WIP.
So the Origin and End thing is not a change of the position in absolute coordinates in space? If you say relative to the changed shape, what does that mean? The shape are polygons or vertices, or am I wrong here?
What morph do I need to create a new character to sell in the store? Results are important not the tool
Blender, Hexagon and Zbrush all have the tools, as do many others.
I don't like Hexagon, although it can be useful for creating a quick morph, and some PAs use it. Zbrush is a decent amount of cash - I wasn't keen when I tried it out, but the results possible with it are seriously tough to argue against. Blender is free; I found it easy to learn; it made sense to me - at least since they updated the UI from what was 2.49. It's free to try, all you'll waste is time, but that will be the same with any.
It isn't a waste deciding you can't handle its style.
All will take a lot of time to learn; find one that suites you, so start with free or very low priced.
transfer DS database from old windows disk to new windows installDoes anybody recall (or can you point me at old threads) for how to transfer the DAZ Studio database from an intact old windows disk (installed as a second non-bootable drive) onto a fresh windows and DS installation on the main disk? PostgreSQL, manual install so no DIM files to worry about.
My motherboard died I think, I'll probably end up reinstalling windows when I get replacement parts. I haven't checked yet but I assume the disk is fine, I'm going to yank it out and back up a few things on another PC. I have a full backup from last month so no big deal but of course I've just installed and categorized a zillion products since then so it would be nice to recover the database rather than using the backup to avoid duplicating that work if possible.
❤ Taemimun / Cherubit's ART ❤Nice render, taemimun! The sweater is the Essentials: Sweater for V4 by Evilinnocence available from the Freebie section over at RDNA, but is also available from their own site. And that is Amarseda Hair by AprilYSH. I, for one, do use V4 quite a lot, despite having a great many other base figures, both old and new, to choose from. She does tend to render quickly, although she also takes longer to load initially, especially if one has many of the available morph packages set up to load with the morphloader. When it comes to variety, she's pretty hard to beat.
Morph influencing more than it shouldI've exported G3F as an obj.
I have made sure that the HD morph, sub d, and Navel are all at zero; basically no morphs applied.
I load into blender, do the morph and when returning it to Daz, tiny amounts of all the G3F adjusted: such as Legs, arms, chest, etc.
To make sure it wasn't something obvious I did, I selected ONE vert, and made a morph with it, the same effect was observed.
I've made morphs before and not had this issue. I wondering if I've forgotten something.
Well I just exported the imported G3F without changing anything, and applied it as a morph, and I saw the same tiny ajustments. So I must have forgotten something. :)
Is It A Secret?I would pay serious money for a textual documentation/TUTORIAL/whole workflow explained with cross-reference and index... For example "how to package asset", "how to make morph with zbrush for genesis" , "how to make a great geograft", "how to paint useful weight map !", "Give up painting weight map in DAZ, buy that software, it imports/exports easily with daz" and so on...
There is great explanations here, thanks a lot.
There are tutorials for some of those things here at Daz, in the documentation center:
or here in the forums
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/24555/tutorial-starting-out-with-geo-grafting-repost/p1
Some DNA purchases not appearing in DazI'm thinking of making some cross-referencing script so everything can be checked when the transfer is over, to make a list of what has transfered and what not, but it requires that everything has been downloaded with the RDNA Downloader.
Please make the cross-referencing script, Taozen. This would help me a lot. I have twenty-five pages of downloads, and I need a way to see what is what (or whatnot).
I'll take a look at it. But actually I think it would be better if DAZ made one when all has been transfered, for they must have the SKU cross references in their database which means they can make 100% correct matches. I can only make one based on the product names which probably means some guessing in some cases if the names are not exactly the same. Or if DAZ would just release the SKU cross references, I could use them in the script. I believe they're fairly easy to extract from the database.
It would be better if DAZ made one, yes. It would also be nice if they gave us dynamic hair and a viable dynamic clothes option, but.... Sorry.
And thanks so much for this tip:
Also, if you sort by Order # in the Account Manager all the RDNA products will end up at the bottom of the list with "null" as order #, as they have no DAZ order #. This way you can separate them from the DAZ products. Note that RDNA products purchased at DAZ after they have been transfered from RDNA will not be included, as they do have an order #.
Question about New Born BabyI've never tried to make an infant before. Well, ok I have... But I failed every time... lol! To be honest. I think unless your super supersuper good at it. Or have access to HD morphs, Babys 9 out of 10 times will look creepy. This is the closest I've gotten without turning the rascal into a complete mutant. hehe! My goal with this was to make it a gender nutral baby morph. Waited for GenX to come out for G3 and with the G3F UV's and the GenXed morph. This baby morph can be used for either girl or boy. Depending on if I can find a proper wig and clothing. Which is practicly non-existant. Most babys don't have much gender features. Without pink or blue cloths, and hair. It's hard to tell their gender a lot of times. So I made my morph as gender neutral as possible.
There is one thing I cannot do at all and that is 3-10 months old. Without access to HD morphs. It's physically impossible. Because newborns have all that fat, and skin rolls on their legs and arms and wrists and neck. You cant get that detail without HD morphs.
I'm still not happy with this. All well. :P
Absolutely adorable!!!! I'd buy iy in an instant if it was in the market! <3 <3 <3
Morph Parameter Settings HelpThose are not the morph deltas, they are adjustments to the named bones so that they are still correctly placed relative to the changed shape.
If you want to place an uploaded image in the body of your post you need to leave the attachment, otherwise there's nothing for the link to refer to (you may still be seeing the image as you have a cached copy from the original post).
Import Rigged Figure in DAZ to use as rig source in Transfer Utility?Hello! Doesn't anyone here know - is there within DAZ Studio any way to import custom non-DAZ rigged models as FBX or maybe as DAE without losing bones or distorting them badly? Recently I tried to import a custom Marvelous Designer human model into DAZ Studio to use it as standalone figure with its own bones and Genesis' mesh. But this figure was in Open Collada 1.4.1 format and DS distorts it after importing as I described here - http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/99476/import-rigged-figure-in-daz-to-use-as-rig-source-in-transfer-utility . Importing it as standard Autodesk FBX 2006-2013 doesn't help too - DS import the mesh and bones separately. I looked through all the forum and found just one thread about Unity 5 and succesful import of FBX from Unity 5 to DAZ Studio. Some time ago I tried also to import Unity FBX models, found in the web, but with no success. Cannot anyone tell me - does Unity 5 Exporter really help to export FBX rigged models to DAZ Studio or DS will import just meshes with textures with no rigging again? If there are Unity users, here is the sample of that model in FBX attached to this post (woman_east_body_V0_2_2 FBX) - can it be imported into Unity 5 and re-exported as FBX or Collada rigged model to import it succesfully into DAZ Studio? If it works via Unity, I'll give it a try. Thanks in advance for any help.
FaceShop is now called HeadShop - Shipping at DAZ (Commercial)I just purchased HeadShop 9 at Daz3d.com and installed.
When I ran HeadShop 9 in the Daz studio 4.8(stable official, not beta) after loading Genesis 2, a popup window poped up, saying "No surface configuration has been recorded for this figure. Surface selection will need to be applied manually".
I clicked "OK" and HeadShop window came up.
Then I assigned a Morph/Texture name and selected "Face" and "Lips" in Surface selections, and "Head" in Geometry to morph settings, and click "Accept". (I read your manual)
Then again a popup window came up saying "HeadShop closed before it could creat the necessary files..."
I clicked OK, and the popup disappeared, and nothing happened.
Please let me know what to do.
Thank you in advance.
=======================I found the solution.
I updated "frame dot net"(through Windows update), and HeadShop is working normally.
I get exactly the same errors with Mac 9.2. I obviously don't have Windows Update nor can I find anything equivalent to 'Frame dot net'.
Well, I have 30 days to fix this I guess.
Does anyone have 9.2 Mac running on DAZ 4.9, El Capitan?
Well, it looks like the mono framework has done the right thing and moved its install path from /usr/bin (no software should EVER use that) to /usr/local/bin. This plugin however uses the post install script to symlink the corrected path to the old one that should not be used. El Capitan won't stand for that. Of course, you can disable System Integrity Protection to symlink mono but I'd rather not. I'm not that happy about having mono on my system in the first place but that I can live with. But software using /usr/bin? I'm very unlikely to accept that. The Headshop plugin needs to be updated to use /usr/local/bin/mono rather than /usr/bin/mono if that's what's going on. Is this a possiblity?
Update: I disabled SIP to see if the symlink in /usr/bin would solve the problem and it did. That's the only workaround until an update is made to use mono from /usr/local. If you do this don't skip turning SIP back on after running post-install. I've read posts by devs saying that as devs they need to turn it off. I disagree, I'm a dev and I want it on. I want to know what software is doing questionable things and I don't want to allow those things to happen unchecked.

Morph Parameter Settings HelpTrying to learn how Daz works and how the morphs are connected. So the FBMVoluptous drives the Left and Right Pectorials.
- Does X Origin and End refer to a delta of the position of the bone?
- Are there additional deltas hidden somewhere in the morph, or does this morph only rely on the sub-components below?
- Do we need auto-follow only for clothing or other things that have to follow?
- What does 'as percent' mean?and final question
- Is there any update on the documentation planned? It seems to be outdated.
THANK YOU, Aave NainenBasically you use it the same as my clothing morphs, I do recommend loading the FSHair All-Easy Morph version because that version will apply the draped morph as it applied to the main hair, and some of the shaping morphs to the hair and the strand sets all-at-once.
Load your figure, then the FSHair All-Easy Morph, apply the pose to the figure then dial in the corresponding morph. After that you can select the hair or individual strand sets in the scene tab and go back into parameters tab if you want to apply wind morphs on top of the pose matching morph.
If you start with the Fashion Model poses that come with the Genesis 3 Female you can get a good idea of how it all works.
The hair doesn't have any bones for movement but does have quite a number of shaping and movement morphs. These work well on not so complex poses like what are in the Always A Lady pose set.
THANK YOU, Aave NainenCan you give some tips on the steps to use the hair. Alot of times, it can be frustrating to find the right morphs to use once you pose the figure, especially when the hair a tons of morph options.
I haven't had a chance to take a look at it yet, but does the hair have bones as well as all these draping morphs?
For myself, I honestly just try all the dials and try to make it look good

THANK YOU, Aave NainenThe main hair product comes with a set of pose morphs and lots of adjustment and movement morphs which makes it quite comparable price wise with other hair I think?. The extra morph packs are sold separately because they were a tremendous amount of work to do :) I hope you decide to give it a go!
If you are familiar with my clothing sets the hair works much the same way, not dynamic but dynamically draped then loaded onto the hair for realistic morphing to match poses.
Pretty expensive hair at $45 list (includes the morph packs which I never understood why those need to be sold seperately). So is this dynamic hair or something else?
