  • Carrara Genesis 3

Well now we have GenX to bring G3M and F morphs over and I have gotten a reasonable workflow to transfer outfits over to G2M and Female and Genesis with additional bones, these new pro bundles like Kenji 7 looking slightly more tempting, only Skins, poses and HD morphs unuseable in Carrara on my Genesis2 and below.

The only stumbling block for me now is the still abysmal Australian dollar.

but once that improves if it does and there is another sale, might start to buy Genesis 3 stuff and wrestle it into Carrara friendly assets in DAZ studio, I am a sucker for new shiney .

I have Gen X2 but not the latest plugin that allows for Genesis3 support and to take shapes from Gen3 to put on Gen2 or Gen1 (Gen1 is my preference figure).

I'm really struck by how excellent Kenji looks, first Gen3 character that really grabbed me.  How good is Gen X2 at taking shapes from Gen3 to Gen1, if you know?

I replied in other thread before I saw this post, very good, no HD of course but George transfered over very well, now I just need to figure out how to use Mari noncommercial and Ptex for baking the skins to the other UV's

  • Headshop 10 - Any opinions yet?

Bug observation I have stumbled on that throws HS10 off. I had an Iray mesh light in the shape of a sphere that was throwing off the morph creation. I got rid of it and it worked fine. I added some items that had Iray surfaces into the scene and tried using HS10 but the process for creating the morph ended in morph creation failure. After removing all items/characters with Iray surfaces I was able to get HS10 to work correctly. This should probably be fixed since PBR in DAZ Studio s here to stay. When you load a character into HS10 there are strange anomalies like headshrinking and a big imprint of the object with IRAY surfaces imposes itself over the character. I had an Iray sphere behind the camera and perspective view out of the way and not in front of the subject. The errors  I get after reading the lofgile are that added geometry caused the morph creation to fail. This is what happens when an Iray surfaced object is in your scene at the time of starting HS. See attached picture...

  • madness trying to import into fallout 4 creation kit

This isn't so much a product suggestion as it is a plugin, formatting or support suggestion I and I am sure there are more people would like some support when it comes to different engines like unity unreal and my current headache the Bethesda creation kit for fallout 4. I would like to see some plugins or support with Daz studio that would allow you to use genesis figures in some of the different game and animation suites the 3DS max is ok but it leaves alot to be disered some of the rigging doesn't work this is a step I would like to see  though being able to use the different characters in some of the different popular I know well you can tell that all the morph 3D characters are is victoria 6 and Michael 6 rerigged for unity it would be nice to be able to just cut out the middle man and use the genesis figures that are for Daz just something I would like to see

  • Kenji 7 - Discuss

First Genesis3 character that made me want to buy it, particularly the Sasori character by Silver is terrific (not surprised because Silver does such fantastic work with female characters, so makes sense that this talent would carry over to pretty male characters too).

But I don't use Genesis3.  I've seen that the latest plugin addon for Gen X2 would allow me to theoretically take a Genesis3 morph/character and put it on a Genesis1 figure.  I'm wondering how well it works and how close it will come, I haven't picked it up because til now just haven't seen any Genesis3 characters that leapt out at me as outstanding must-have, but Kenji is excellent enough to make me consider it.

I am almost tempted too, George transfered over well BTW so if he can anyone can

  • How to transfer G3M Maps to G2M Figures

Hi guys! I got to transfer G3M Morphs in the G2M Figures thanks to the GenX Addon, but the problem it doesn't transfer Figures Maps too. And when I try to load a G3M Texture into a G2M Figure, it doesn't do it correctly. Do you know if there's a product in the Daz Store which transfers G3M Maps in the G1 or 2M Figures? Or could you tell me a procedure to do it in case there isn't a product?

    Thanks guys! :)

  • HD Morphs

Thanks a lot for your replies!

Also because it subdivides in the viewport (instead of at rendertime with HD morphs), you may not want to subdivide past 2 or it may slow poser.

Subdivision in the Viewport and Subdivision at Render Time can be set independently similarly to Daz Studio, So you don't have to show subdivision in the viewport if you have a slower computer

But still if you don't have a copy of zbrush, you have can only use the morph brush, and then you have to set the subdivision to do your morph, so you still would not set the level anywhere above subd2.

I have a copy of Zbrush. Is it possible to do "HD" morphs after I subdivide a model in Poser?

You can sculpt on a subdivided mesh, but I wouldn't call it HD as it's limited to what is done in DS, and you can't mix and match. See the above comments. If you don't know how to sculpt on low poly meshes, you probably should save your money and learn how to do that before investing $175-250 in Poser.  Most times, subdividing a figure is unnecessary and will quickly eat up resources on your machine... especially in light of the last SR for poser will be releasing soon and they'll be working on the next version of Poser... if this is your only reason for switching, you probably should think though your decision a bit more. I don't think it's worth it on that feature alone and plan to use it on genesis figures.

  • Transfering custom morphs with GEN X

I created a custom morph which is currently saved under MORPHS on the figure but I'd like to use that morph in genesis 3 and I don't want to have to create it again (Mainly because I've forgotten how I even did it!) When I use gen x to transfer morphs it never turns up in the list and I've hunted through the entire list looking for it. Is there anyway to transfer this morph? Can you give me step by step instructions on how to do it? I'd be really greatful! Thanks!

The morph is a fully body monster morph I created in sculptris, it works well on genesis 2 but I want to use it with genesis 3. The morph also only appears on the parameters tab not shaping and I'm not sure how to move it to there.

  • Why are the Genesis 3 females so frickin' tall?
Its been the same with pretty much all Daz's generations. For some reason Daz thinks every woman in the world is a super model or Amazon. The scaler isn't quite a perfect answer as it scales her whole body, which might get you extremely waifish looking girls if you turn their height down too much.

I think I agree.  Using the measure metrics, I replaced the height morph with the general scale.  They do get a bit on the young waifish side looking for my taste.

What seems to have worked pretty well was a combination of the torso length and height morphs.  That way, they are shorter but retain the leggy look.

  • Why are the Genesis 3 females so frickin' tall?

"It really doesn't matter since the guys are tall as well. Everthing is proportionately scaled so don't worry about it."

Hi The Default Males are not really tall compared to the default females.
This attached picture is the Genesis 2 male next to  the G3 default female and  he compares similarly to the Genesis 2 female.

I  was shocked to disover this recently when creating this married couple shot for my animated film project:
    https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2TYEp536iB8WWNCRjd4TDd2NkE

I have found that mixing in the
Boris morph for G2 raises his height but that may alter an existing Characters overall appearence too much so in this case I was forced to keep the camera above knee level and push to Female down into the floor to make her "shorter" than her spouse.

  • SimTenero Shape Reprojector

It was a sphere I created myself. It has 0.4 diameter with 40 segments and 40 sides. I found I had to make a new surface and select it in the "include by material group" to get the best result (you can see the size of the new surface as it has the yellow fabric). I also used the following parameters:

    • Hit Fixed Distance
    • Projection In
    • 3 Passes
    • Distance 140

After the projection, I turned Smooth Before morph slider to -6% so the fabric didn't cling to the feet so tightly. I also had to raise the figure as otherwise the feet were buried within the pillow.

The shape projector is not totally intuitive so start with something simple and experiment, but I got to this stage with about a dozen test runs.

  • Flash Sale Alerts II

One of the examples in Men of Character II shows a blend of three Genesis characters and K4—it's the sixth picture, the one of the little kid. Is there a K4 clone for Genesis? I didn't think that combination was possible.

It must be Genesis child morph, not K4. Unless there is some trick we don't know.

Hey, guys, my apologies.  None of us, back then, caught my error when I put K4 on the promo.  It is, indeed, the Genesis child.  Also, I was in Fast Grab last week with some products I did with Will Dupré.  And last thing, Cris stands for Cristina.  :)  I was excited to put my Men of Character products in Fast Grab and offer them at a great discount.  I was always very proud of those morphs.

  • quick question

I don't have the base character, but that snowflake character sure went onto my "to buy" list after I saw the "without Aiko" image of her.

If you have any character in particular you are interested, just post it here. Maybe someone can do a render for you without the Aiko 7 morph.

  • quick question

You can still use it. It won't look the same, though, because you'll be missing the thing it's built upon.

Which character are you thinking of? Someone might be able to post a render without the Aiko morph dailed in.

  • Snowflake without Aiko7?
I bought her mainly because of her skin before I even saw this thread. Now I'm even happier and I haven't even broke her out yet! Don't get me wrong, the character morph looks fantastic too. Just an outstanding character all around.

Nope, used the height morph.  Stupid me thought that's what those things were there for.  smiley

Yeah, the overall scaling on the figure does indeed appear to keep overall proportions the same.
