  • Warrior Monk Outfit for Genesis 3 Male(s). Coming soon.

This looks very interesting! I've been looking for a robe like this for ages. And thank you so much for including a good sitting morph! Some questions: is it possible to hide the cape at the back, so that the figure wears just the robe? And also, is the belt a separate figure - or if not, can it be hidden without leaving a gap between top and bottom of the tunic? Are the creases that we can see on the robe painted on, or part of the mesh? (Could you perhaps show us an untextured version?)

What are the posing capabilities like beyond the hierarchical poses you include? For example, if we want figures kneeling, or sitting in different ways? And are the sleeves also individually poseable? Sorry for all the questions but this really does look extremely interesting...

And thanks, I really like this cat, and the cub is adorable.  I need to do one with the black coat but that will have to wait as the meds are wearing off and I feel another nap is needed.  I don't think I've been down with the flu for this long in many years.  Usually only takes a couple of days but this one doesn't want to go away for some reason.  I'm trying to be reasonable but I have a hard time just staying in bed and doing nothing.  and since I don't have my laptop back I can't even do that while resting lol.  I'm stuck with a tablet and my phone.  So rendering if I'm not upright and in front of the pc in the living room.  I've pushed myself far enough today though I think.

Yay, the cub is out!   He is really cute.

Reduce the lighting a little bit, it's a little overexposed.  The cub is looking at his mother, but you need to move her eyes towards the cub. Also, the cub's feet appear to be sunk into the stone a little.

Just a few adjustments and this will be a very nice render.

Is that the Ancient Ruins?  I had the same idea with the cat - looks like you beat me to it, LOL.

Lol feel free you won't hurt my feelings.  I literally dropped it all in and hit render then went back to bed.  I have to look at my settings something is off I am getting a lot of overexposed stuff and I wasn't before. I'm sure fiddled with something and forgot to switch it back.  Will track it down once this nasty flu is gone.

I picked up the black panther - since the cub is a morph, the coat color goes with it.

  • Star 2.0 for G3F!!! whoot!!

I bought the original Star not so long ago but I couldn't resist genesis 3 Star with all the morphing possibilities and the clothes and hairs avaliable.

Here is my first render, it's Retro Heroine by Fredel (from Renderosity) with 50 % of Star's body and body propotions, and 30 % of Stars head and 15% of The Girl 7s head.

The outfit is  Retro Heroine outfit (a freebie) by Fredel.

I used DG Toon Style Hair Shaders for the hair :)

WHAT. That looks 100% like a modern rendition of classic Lara O_O

    Love this character.

    That is terrifyingly realistic.

But fantastically cool. If you don't mind sharing, which characters did you combine?

The body is 100% Star 2.0

The head is a combination of Teen Josie and Toon Josie Slim (both 36%), Aiko 16%, Anime Head 100%, and scaled the head up and neck down a bit.

I used the skin from the Vanessa character.

Anime Head for Genesis 3 is a freebie morph (with a dial) that you can find on ShareCG.

    Vanessa is this one:  http://www.daz3d.com/fwsa-vanessa-hd-for-victoria-7-and-her-jewelry

    Eric

Excellent, thanks! I didn't know there was a Toon Josie...was that a typo or is there a morph for the Teen Josie character that creates a toon version?

I'd like to know this too. Didn't realize there was a Toon Josie...

  • Best of DAZ Sale -- Close But No Banana!

Since I don 't really do bundles or character addons, I really can't take advantage of this sale much. I am bummed as I have julie 7 on my wish list since I have a few characters that require her morph and have been waiting for a good deal. I spent my DO PC coupon yesterday, but if I hadn't, I could have gotten Julie for $7, DOH!

  • How to transfer G3M Maps to G2M Figures

Here's a new way to transfer textures (for Unwrap3D users):
    http://unwrap3d.com/u3d/tutorial_repaint_mesh.aspx

    Blender not required.

All you need is this to morph G3M and G2M into the same shape:
    http://www.sharecg.com/v/83139/gallery/21/DAZ-Studio/Texture-Conversion-Helper-morphs-G3M

In fact, as long as you have the morphs to morph two characters into the same shape, you can transfer textures between any generation of Genesis.

It's an interesting information! I'll try it and I'll let to know my results! Thanks a lot for the information Bolt! ;D

  • Unused morphs - can they slow down the machine?

To be pedantic, there is memory used for the Qt slider and UI elements but nothing is used for the morph data itself.  There is nothing to "slow down" the machine.

    Kendall

In fact the parameter sliders are not, if I understand the explanation correctly, stored as widgets but as image placeholders which are repalced with a true widget only when they have focus. The property itself does use some memory, but the overwhelming proportion is the morph deltas which are not loaded until the property is given a non-zero value (after which theya re held until the scene is cleared, since even if zeroed or if the figure is deleted they might be restored by an undo).

  • Star 2.0 for G3F!!! whoot!!

I bought a number of these and really like the anime look I've been able to get by blending her with some of the more standard G3 models. One problem I have had, however, is that the add-on eyes distort the geometry of other head items (most notably glasses). Hopefully there will be a patch for this. I would also love to see a wider range of anime style hairs (with actual updates to earlier Star hairs as they don't have much in the way of morph controls). Some more realistic Iray shaders for these would also be welcome.

So sending back the dress is it now back to it's original Quads and the order it was originally so morphs and what not work with it still or is it a whole new mesh in Tri's?

Subdivision is a choice you make when transferring a cloth to VWD. If you leave it off, you draped object has the same structrure as the original and can be used as a morph target. If you activate subdivision, the objetc you send back will have the subdivided structure. If your mesh is dense enough, there is no need to use subdivision in VWD.

  • Unused morphs - can they slow down the machine?

Hmm. I was told they did cause lag when loading the figures.  So this is not true? I have always found trimming them down has helped load times.

The more morphs you have installed for a Genesis figure, the slower it will load.  However we are talking a difference of a few seconds between an empty Genesis and one with a ton of morphs.  I have a saved scene with G2F in it that has no textures.  I use it for testing out new characters.  It will always load with any new morphs and has always loaded very quickly no matter how many characters and morphs I have added and my G2F has more then any other of my Genesis figures.  But if a morph is not dialed in, it does not use any extra memory.

  • Star 2.0 for G3F!!! whoot!!

That outfit autofit really well, even the shoes!! Don't suppose you have the "Ruby Red" outfit for original star that you could test out the autofit?

I noticed that new Star had a face morph for the Creme Brulee outfit, so since I grabbed that yesterday along with the bundle (but before the RDNA sale started. Thanks Daz. Again -__-) here's new Star with her old Creme Brulee hair and outfit.

The hair, collar, and flower are parented since autofit wasn't ideal for them. The dress and shoes are autofit with zero adjustments though.

I don't have any other of her outfits aside from the default :( If I'd have known there was going to be an RDNA sale the day after the stellar bundle offer, I would have waited and bought more of them :(

  • G3F Skins render Chocolate....

First: Thank you for the time it took for your response.

    I am using DS 4.9.

ONE of the skins that is giving me choclate is: http://www.daz3d.com/fwsa-eliya-hd-for-victoria-7

Admittedly it is a skin that is a little tanned. Here is my render (it does not use the character morph included with the skin)

  • Dynamic Cloth Solutions

You are welcome, xyer0, glad I could help.

    RAMWolff:

For production work, that would be a base rough (not final product for customers), and I use the conforming mesh trick/transfer MT's from simulated base to production model, along with smooth modifier to smooth out any roughness, and subdivision modifier to put the higher displacement levels into the production mesh.  It's the trick that was outlined by DAZ_Randall (when he was at DAZ) for the Genesis Supersuit.

You can create morph targets in a VWD session by using DS Duplicate Node after every completion of a simulation and using "Send Pose To Host".  I outlined the complete workflow in a thread over at Rendo.  I will try to add later, or do a proper tutorial.  VWD is a viable product for product content creation.

    Laurie:

Yes, you can pull and push the mesh while it is draping.  It works best from a live simulation, including animated simulation.  Case in point, the green shirt above was a quick example of an already completed sim (months ago), re-added with tessellation turned on, and minor push/pull used without re-simulating (the main static simulation was not used, but the dynamic push/pull [holding SHIFT] was used).  In these instances, the mesh tends to want to stick to or maintain form closer to original draping.  But, you can manipulate it with the tools to get it where you want it.  It is just easier with first time drapes.

    timmins.william:

Did you find the manual?  Yeah, it is not a quick, one button solution.  There is a bit of a learning curve, and all the different meshes out there require learning what settings work best with which mesh.  The more you work in it, the more you will get along with it, but I recommend reading and watching everything availabe for learning it.

  • Eyes Popping Out - Saving as fbx

That's because as an OBJ files it does not keep any data outside of current position of vertices. That's how you can export an OBJ file of a morphed figure and keep all the morphs working.

Also, what you bought is a CR2 file - its a Poser Figure. Usually you would buy something from the Genesis line, which is native to DAZ and does not have such problems.

That said - I'll have to check the stuff I was working on. Maybe I can create a corrective morph for you there that will fix the eyes. Does iClone accept DAZ morphs though?

  • Animation vs Still Art?

VWD is working with everything. You can drape Dragon 3 over a table as a nice table cloth.

It's true! laugh  How to drape a daz dragon!

Ok, not very good table cloth material, I confess...

    VWD works with any Genesis.

    VWD works with conforming items.

VWD even works with NON-UNIMESH, like those typical multi-hair-piece hair objects of hobbyist land that takes Herculean efforts to glue them together!

Notice the dragon's teeth and eyeballs didn't fall apart? That's VWD's good thinking! Try that with the unofficial Dynamic Clothing Control script or iClone Apex soft or Carrara Bullet and see what happens! Clue: popping eyeballs and flying nails and fallen teeth LOL

Majority of content and assets that come out of the Poser/ Daz Studio shops typically fall apart as soon as you move them.

Creating content for one frame still render is EASY. Just pile on the polys and maps and mesh parts. Creating content for animation use, 95% Daz Studio vendors will not pass the most basic tests!

VWD are treasures to the hobbyist community. It's really no small feat to enable non-pro assets for animation! Takes dedication on the plugin dev's part, and creative passion on the users part too!

Now Daz Studio users - still renderers or animation makers - have no more excuse for ugly blob skirts with infamous auto-trasfer crotch imprint or nonsensical hand morph hair!

  • Pose Sets

Thanks for the nods, fixmypcmike, Destiny's Garden, and Knittingmommy. I appreciate it.

Making poses is my passion, I guess you could say. And I try to make useful poses, so it pleases me that people find them so.

Personally, I go back and forth on whether or not to include partial poses (separate tops and bottoms). On the one hand, I understand the appeal, but on the other hand, I know that mixing tops and bottoms doesn't always create balanced poses - and making balanced and realistic poses is important to me. But those of you who like them bring up a valid point about finding a hand pose or arm pose that you want to use, but it's attached to legs that aren't in a position you want. I've been toying with some way to figure out how to give you all partial poses like this, without compromising the balanced look of a pose. I'll put some more thought into it.

I do have plans on releasing a hand pose set (including some props) in the near future. I'll post info and sneak peeks on my facebook page, for those who are interested. I'm always looking for suggestions for poses people would like to see, too. So feel free to drop me a line there.

Oh! Serene Night, if you own any of my pose sets that include expressions for Genesis 3, I always include a reset pose for the expressions. Just use one of those and you should be good to go. :) (Caveat - my Big Drama Expression sets do not include the reset pose preset, as these are morph dial expressions only.)

Thanks again for those of you have purchased my pose sets over the years. Your patronage is deeply appreciated. Happy posing and thank you!!
