GenX2 Update / Genesis 3 Add-On [Commercial]
Do you have Genesis (the initial version) installed? To transfer morphs from a Poser figure to Genesis 2, GenX needs Genesis 1 to transfer the clone morphs from Genesis 1 to Genesis 2 before it can transfer the actual morphs.
Face swapping....The easiest & most accurate product to do that remains Singular Inversions FaceGen Artist Pro 1.9. It will set you back $140 but will make accurate faces from decent pictures for Genesis, Genesis 2, and Genesis 3 characters and then it is easy to buy the DAZ 3D head and body morph bundles to make cartoon caricatures from those faces too, if that is what you want to do.
The more difficult problem is getting a reasonably close match to the hair style, hair color, and skin tone of who you are caricaturing or trying to represent. It is easier to get a better likeness of someone as a young person because as we grow older we become more unique, not less. It is better to use the various Genesis 3/Genesis 2/Genesis Aging Morph bundles (from Zev0 & DraagonStorm I think), in my opinion, to make a face look aged then to try and use high resolution texture sets of wrinkled people because those wrinkled texture sets always look so extremely exaggerated on on the model and also clearly the wrinkles that belong to another person, not the person you want to caricature. Also, if you think you can use the photo of the person to create the texture set, without professional photographs made with the intent to use to create textures from, there is the problem of trying to have a person's face lit 100% with diffuse light so that for example, you don't use a face texture that has a nose shadow at 10 AM permantly, even 9 PM at dusk.
ZDG random Daz Studio discoveries and questions.Yea, that's going more into a rat-hole then what I wanted to get involved with. It's a glass bottle that was with the set, and I'm not going to waste my time trying to reshape it just to get the 'color' of the coffee to not ber gray in render. And I thought Fisty's shaders looked rather good on it. It would just be easier to delete the bottle from the scene at this point if I'm going to go threw all that for the render I gave up on posing figures in yesterday, lol.

I will agree that the geometry could be better, at least it is not Spaghetti-gons, and it dose not crash Daz Studio on load, lol. My gripe with the set, is that all the cup coasters load 'IN' the table where you cant quickly grab and move them under the cups (you got to go click a few other things before you can gab and move them). Other then that, it looks rather good in 3DL with quick and dirty shader swapping, even tho it only has an Iray load for the set. The product page claims 3DL mats are somewhere for it, yet I don't see any for it anywhere.

I will presume that is a typo, or the Edit monkeys got loose again, lol.
Total Rendering Time: 1 hours 34 minutes 54.64 seconds

I like that quite a bit more with that sun. The First Light set includes lights and skydome sphere (not just a map). I killed the "White Sun" from the test chamber light rig, and left only the "Sun" light active from the First Light light rig.

And without a sky, for comparison. The test chamber soft box lights are visible in both, so I'll need to dress them up one of these days, lol. I have an idea for that, I just need to sit down and measure a few things to keep them consistent with the originals, and set them up for minimum (if not zero) impact on render time.
As for the liquid surface tension bit, If you want to poke and prod Preditron to fix the geometry for it, well I may do that any way, lol. It is just completely wrong looking without that simple edge effects, and I don't think the missing 3DL mats will fix that.

Then again, all it needs is a shape morph for that edge effect, right?

Something like that?

VAT DA!? it has a displacement complex, rofl.
Principessa conformI just got Principe for M4 as the RDNA freebie, and face the same problem. I tried to use the transfer utility to get it to conform to Genesis, but I have not done such things before and the results were not satisfactory.
How did people ever use these products, even in Poser?
Fitting A3 outfit to A4?"that girl you fitted to is a4?"
Yep. That's the "base" A4 as loaded. Note: although I was able to get a pretty good fit without too much trouble in the "T" pose, as soon as I applied significant morphs or changed the pose, I needed to adjust the items to fit once again. To make it fully functional would need a great deal more time and effort (transferring morphs from V4, etc.), or the use of one of the various transfer utilities for moving clothing from one figure to another. Of course, the V4 version should work just fine out of the box.
Ouch. These prices. Is it just me or are the prices going up on new items?
Texture and morph for "top model" ...separately sold? $18 (base price) just for the texture alone? $20 (base price) for a bra and panty set? I can get a set in real life for that price or even cheaper than that. $30 (base price) for a hair do? $30? Really? And an additional $15 (base price) for the texture pack? So if someone wants the hair do and the textures it's a base price of $45. That's, imo, pretty nuts.
I hope that this isn't a trend. If that's the case, I'm going to have to seriously rethink this as a hobby. I'm really kind of surprised at the prices today.
I think to myself - "how long would it take me to make this myself - is it worth the $20?" It's worth it because it would take me 6 months or longer to make any of this content. The artists are also packing their talent and ingenuity and taste into their products. The content sold here is inspiring.

http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/plugins/cct/startIs there a way to fit Santa Baby outfit to G3F?Most of it works pretty well.
1) Load G2F and autofit Santa Baby dress, sleeves, hair, hat, and boots to G2F.
2) Load G3F and transfer outfit from G2F to G3F via "fit to". Apply smoothing modifier and a push modifier to the dress if needed.
3) Hide bottom parts of boots (as those don't transfer well) and keep the top art (the pretty furry part) visible and couple it with a different pair of boots that fit better.
4) And finally load the wrap and "parent to" G3F. The wrap doesn't work if you try to "fit to".
So pretty much the majority of the outfit transfers well to G3F. The only issue I found was the bottom parts of the boots not fitting, so having to hide the bottom of the boots and just use the top with another pair of boots, and then the wrap that doesn't "fit to". But again, parenting the wrap seems to work ok with a few adjustments, depending on the pose. Most of the outfit seems to work pretty well though. :)

@divamakeup - Wow! That's a fantastic render! Great work! I was struggling with that wrap too. What lighting did you use? I love how the fur showed up on your render. I don't think I've got it to look half as good yet, but I was trying it in Iray. What background is that? I love it.
Growing Up for Genesis 3 [Commercial]Yes, a preset which requires the original morph to be owned is fine - people just rarely do that for commercial sets as it increases the number of required products, and so the pool of potential buyers.
Genesis 2 & 3 Male Tall/Short Morphs? Are there any? There should be a height morph in the Genesis 3 Male body morphs pack from DAZ; I know there is one in the female version. I believe this is also true of the Genesis 2 Male and Female.
I just bought that last night. Thanks for the headsup.Infinite Insanity - There's ALWAYS Another Sale! (Daily Sale Talk)I did some morph transfers using the manual methods mentioned here, and the eyes were invariably screwed up, often to the point that made them unusable. Generation X and the Gen 3 add on do I much better job, and I would recommend it to anyone that can afford it.
Infinite Insanity - There's ALWAYS Another Sale! (Daily Sale Talk)GenX2 is such a great thing. I only wish they were permitted to transfer HD morphs. I've transferred HD morphs and it seems to make a LITTLE difference, though...
But, yeah, it's really given me a lot of power to move morphs all over the place.
I just wish it wasn't so crazy expensive. In order to use the Genesis 3 genX you have to have THREE different products (Genesis Generation X2, GenX2 AddOn for Genesis 2, and GenX2 AddOn for Genesis 3). All three products comes up to $63 and as far as I can tell they hardly ever go on sale - and when I have seen them go on sale since I started watching them, they don't seem to discount very deeply. I really wish there was a product that would do that without buying three different products and spending so much. Ah well, I'm sure eventually they will get a really deep discount ...maybe. lol Or maybe someone will come out with a product that will do it without having to buy two additional products. ...Maybe. lol Hey, I can dream.
I seem to recall a tutorial on here someplace for DIY morph transfers, though when I tried the eyes and mouth didn't transition so well.

Does anyone have any experience with the one from Darkhond1? Does it work reasonably well for Genesis 3
Yes, I purchased that a while back and it does work quite well. They're not exact but they get very close. I wish he was doing one for G3M, but alas, the coding apparently is quite difficult.
Here's Nevara for V4 (from Rendo). The original and then converted to a G3F:

I did these before I really knew what I was doing. Looks like I only did the face, but I can't remember. I'd love to revisit it soon. I think with a little tweaking, I could get them to look almost exactly the same (and I'd fix the camera to match too.) Here's a link to my original post and full sized pics on Cayman's UV thread: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/1130561/#Comment_1130561
I have GenX for G3 and haven't tried it yet. I bought most of the GenX stuff when I first found DAZ and as a new user, found it nightmarish to use. I didn't know my way around the interface at the time and the documentation didn't make sense to me. Will try it again soon too. Probably after the holidays.
Is Hexagon the only modeler that can morph while character is posed? The SubDragon does use SubD - make sure that is set to Base resolution before exporting (but if that was the issue DS wold simply refuse to load the morph). Please post your Morph Loader Pro settings.

and no i do not want to get used to it
Carrara ... life expectancy ... or still alive?DAZ have limited resources when it comes to software development and there is not mouch money in Carrara as it stands so development is slow on that side, but no reason to assume it's dead, older threads say that there is a version with G3 partial support but it has not been released because there is not enough eye candy to justify a release yet.
One problem that does exist is that they just add new features, there is very little being done to fix even the worst bugs in there like for example "Do you want to save...." before you exit crash, I would guess that that boils down to developers not having much knowledge about the Carrara source that stretches back to times when the wheel was invented so they try to stay away from it as much as they can.
FifthElement said:
Well, it looks like Lightwave, Blender, Maya, 3DSMax or C4D are not a problem here, more likely is that DAZ and SmithMicro do not want to bow to industry rigging standards (Collada and FBX), they obviosly prefer customers using their propriatory software and rigging ...
Have no idea about Poser, DS has good FBX support so no reason to complain on DAZ about that, Cararra on the other hand suffer from the ancient source problem, original developers gone so not easy to fix things in those parts of the code any longer, FBX problems are often caused by problems on the import side (but can of course also be on export), typical example is importing FBX on Maya with it's morph limitation and so on.
On the Matter of Creating Celebrity LikenessesHi for those trying to create likenesses of famous people
Try this experiment
( WARNING NOT AN "EXACT SCIENCE"..but interesting nonetheless)Create face morph or use an existing character morph
Create the most realisticly lit render of the face you can
( in this case I used Blender cycles)
Upload to google using the "search by image" featureHave a look at the "Visually similar results"
that google returns in its searchIf your celebrity or someone very close to their appearance shows up ...you have nailed it
if not .....well back to slider manipulation and or Sculpting or "head shopping" etc
.In my case here My attempt at a morph of Actress Ayalet Zurer
Needs Much work still.
