Greater ZBrush compatibility for DAZ Studio 5!
What does a HD morph do that a standard morph can't do? Technically speaking, please. I understand HD means high definition, but please try to explain the technical difference.
As I understand it, each type of morph stores a list of delta values, so...what's so special about HD morphs if they store the same type of data? Is the difference just the format? One is text, and the other is binary? Is there some upper limitation on the text format? If so, what is it?
Question about modeling sizing standardsYeah... The seat has no adjustments. If I put Michael 7 in it, most of his head is through the roof.
I'm just asking these questions, because sizing standards would help in making things easier for buyers to use...
Then perhaps someone will be kind enough to create some morphs for seat adjustment. Or if you want to learn, you could do it. That'd be a pretty simple morph to make, simply dropping the seat(s) downward.
Dynamic cloth + related Carrara plugins - Best Practices, Tips and RendersHead Wax - here is a screen shot of the outfit having been textured but not yet draped. I usually model for V4, as I have a V4 morph for G2F so I started with that and then set the character, body shape and pose that I want at 1 sec, and let the sim tun to 2 secs (not usually needed) to allow for the drape to settle. The clothing here is two separate pieces, hence there is a little poke through between them, and also with the figure, but these are resolved when draping (if not too much). I did two separate drapes, first for the trousers (you can call them pants or jeans as you prefer!) colliding against the figure, and then the sweatshirt colliding against the figure and the trousers. I hope this helps.
CONTENT wishes for 2017Time for wishes. Lets jump in this wagon. And I hope release in early 2017? May this thread also gives some ideas to Daz3D staf and PAs
So, let’s play this game with Daz3D CONTENT (no studio 5 feature wishes, no genesis 4 etc…) just content for our runtime.
I’ll engage:
- Freak 7 pro bundle. there is a huge room left here in G2 and more important G3. Those chars can be used in many ways (fantasy, sci-fi, super heroes etc...), they can have what we call in France une GUEULE (a strong face), some scary and/or strong skins and there are many good (selling) argument for them. The same goes to their outfit, wich should be kinda extrem. If daz3D is doubting about a Freak7 sale, just watch the huge success of Georges!
- G3 transfer: an EASY TO USE and “one click transfer” TOOL to convert v4&co, G1 or G2 to G3 (actually, you need several products for the morphs and several products yet several transfers to go from V4 to G3 with not so close results to the original character)
- DAZ Monstrosities for G3: Undead Fiend, for example was my fav. It’d be great to see him & his friends in the G3 family (with iray skin, etc…)
- G3 creature creator: more of them, more skins.
Lmao Studio 5 and Gen 4 arent happening this year anyway so I dont know why people keep saying it will, Daz is very slow when it comes to doing anything, plus they havent said anything so it might not even exhist
You know this how?
And after 4.9, could come 4.10, or similar, it doesn't have to be 5.0; it isn't a decimal but a seperator. And G4 could make an appearance, two years in a few months since the last, so it is possible; only Daz know, and they are usually silent about such things.
Daz Studio 4.9.3 Pro, General Release!Morph Loader Pro does have a batch mode, though you'd still need to export each morph from ZBrush.
Thank you DAZ for not correcting the duplicate formulas issue....The problem is that you saved your morph asset with a non-zero default value. You need to edit the morph to correct that: there should be a little gear on the morph dial enabling you to display the parameter settings, correct the default value and then re-save the morph asset.
Thank you DAZ for not correcting the duplicate formulas issue....This is not a DS bug, this is a bug in a particular piece of content (probably not from Daz either, most problem morphs are freebies, unless you are using very old copies of the Genesis morph packs in which case you should get updates from your account/Daz Install Manager) - reinstalling DS, or morphs that aren't the source of the issue, will do nothing. The on for all figures issue is that you saved a morph with a non-zero default value.
To fix the always on morph, load the base Genesis and look in the Currently Used group in the Parameters pane - there will probably be only one morph listed there, I don't think base Genesis loads with anything on normally, but in any event it should be fairly clear which shape is the culprit (if you set it to 0 the shape will go away). Once you know which morph (or morphs) are at fault, click the gear icon on the slider and open Parameter Settings, then set the default and current values to 0. Finally use File>Save as>Support Assets>Morph Asset to save the morphs in question.
If you still have the Duplicate Fomrulas issue after that, check the log file (Help>Troubleshooting>View Log) and look back from the end for lines with Duplicate - that should enable you to identify the problem morph, which you should probably - unless it's vital - remove.
How do you make squarer jaws?there is always the morph brush too.
Daz Studio 4.9.3 Pro, General Release!Well, you have two options - instead of sending back via GoZ you can export the (sub)tool as OBJ and import it or load it with Morph Loader pro (I've found that the modo, or another 1 unit = 1m with standard axes, preset is right for this) or you can try deleting the GoZ project files in case there's an issue there - on a Windows system they are in C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZProjects\Default
That only works if someone makes one or two morphs but as I sculpt I make about 100 and if I dont like one I just dial it to zero. Exporting/importing a hundred times takes too much time.
I deleted the project files. Same issue :(
Animation Conversion for Genesis 3 (commercial)Found a package that handles breathing animation:
https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-2-alive
But it requires 'Muscularity Morphs'. Assuming I bought both packages and applied it to G2 female, could I then use DraagonStorms G2 to G3 script to transfer it to G3 female?
I'm doubtful because there is no equivalent to 'muscularity morphs' in G3 (well there is, but by a diff author)...so I think that when Dragonstorm's script runs...it won't be able to re-create the animation on G3?
How do you make squarer jaws? There are a few morphs that can do that.
Point is, I'm pretty sure the big morphpack has all the tools you need to get very close.
is there a link to the core morph pack? i have like, two morph packs but idk if there's one I'm missing
Question - Poses, do you want specific shape presets or do you like to tweak?Actually expression poses aren't that difficult and in a lot of my sets I include expression preset poses. I just recently learned how to make expression morph dials so that you can add as much or as little of an expression as your scene requires. I plan on doing more of these in the future.
Regarding poses that say they're for Genesis 3 Female/Genesis 3 Male/or any of the other Genesis iterations - the truth of the matter is that poses built for the Genesis 3 Female base were designed to work perfectly with the base shape. If you apply another shape, depending on that shape, the pose will be altered, and not necessarily in a good way. That's where the tweaking comes in.
In general, poses that are made for the female base will also work with Victoria 7. You might need to raise her feet out of the ground plane only. But if you were to use that same base pose on say Tween Julie 7, Monique 7, the Girl 7, or Star 2.0, you will get vastly different results. Some will work, but some will not, particularly if the pose is part of a vignette (a pose that involves two or more characters that interact).
And now that you've spoken up, I have to wonder how many other new users are under the same misunderstanding about this and they buy a pose set thinking it will work with all the shapes of a base model, but will be disappointed to find out that this is not the case. It's not unreasonable to assume that a pose will fit across the board because clothing and hair models do. So I can see where the confusion comes in. But the bone positions move from shape to shape, and poses are based on bone locations, not on the mesh, like a clothing model or a hair model.
See this is why I think it would be beneficial to include poses that were shape specific so that a customer can use the poses on any of the included shapes without having to tweak the base pose. However, that does require making additional presets, which is more time, which would translate into a higher priced product, which might potentially deter customers from purchasing my product. Ugh...product production is so much more complicated than people know. Lol.
But I'm willing to do what it takes to make my customers happy.
Just out of curiosity, do you have any particular favorite Genesis 3 (male or female) shapes that you would like to see poses for? I'm compiling a list of which shapes to focus on. (There are so many to choose from at this point that the list is overwhelming, so customer input is important.)
Any high-res "Working Man" skin textures out there? For those that aren't aware...there's a "knobby fingers" morph in HFS Fantasy Shapes for Genesis 3

Daz Studio 4.9.3 Pro, General Release!I have two issues with this new update.
1. GOZ is not working. When I try to send a morph back to DS it calls a new DS and wants to export as an object. G3F subd is on base.
2. I have 2 computers. On the first I only updated DS and except for GOZ it works fine, on the second pc I made a clean install. Genesis 3 Female loads like blocks on the second one even though I updated the G3F essentials. Got the same content setup on both machines.
1. Is GoZ installed for the release build rather than the beta? You can have only one GoZ for DS installed at a time. If so, have you tried resetting the path in the ZBrush Preferences?
2. Where is Genesis 3 female installed? Is that path set as a Daz Studio Content Directory in DS?
I downloaded the released build, never had the beta and the GOZ exe uninstalled the previous version of GOZ. Yes I checked the path and resetted it two times already. Same, it calls a new Studio.
I have a Content folder. I fixed that already, thanks :)
I sent a ticket with the GOZ issue and I asked for an older version of DS+GOZ. I have a job to do, cant wait for a week until its fixed.
GENX WHAT DO I DO?Note that GenX can only transfer the morph of your character, you will need other products in order to use the same texture on G3F as you are using on V5.
Not really concerned about the textures at the moment, just getting the shape of the character transfered from my GF1 to a GF3.
Any advice on that?
Thanks

Shaping Tab stays emptyUninstalling DS certainly won't help an issue like this, if nothing is showing in the shaping pane it's unlikely to be the particular morph set. The CMS might be involved, but most likely is a setting in the Shaping pane. Please post a screenshot showing the two panes (and not showing the figure unless she has clothes on or the display is set to a non-textured view).
How do you make squarer jaws?I have this problem recently because trying to get a Carrie Fisher likeness to look like Carrie Fisher. If you own the G3F Female Head Morphs there are morphs with make the chin wider and to jut the chin forward from the face. Then there is a crease below the lower lip that you make deeper.
There are also morphs for changing the jaw line which will make for squarer jaws.
I stopped at what was appropropriate for what I was working on but you can turn off limits it the squareness it's enough for you after using those morph dials.
I haven't checked the G2F morphs but they are probably similar morph dials.
Finally, part of that squareness is angle of the camera, position of the face, and lighting.
How do you make squarer jaws?Far as I know there is no morph for a square chin, tho one of the 3rd party morph packs might have one.
