Victoria express magic and who else compatible?
http://www.daz3d.com/victoria4xprssnmagic
Looking at this product as a sort of end-all-be-all for expressions.
I've been using the expressions that came with an 'evil witch character' I got in a recent bundle purchase. Love it.
I try and avoid ANYTHING with a person's name in the title- even though I own the base model or starter pack.
(I just can never seem to get those to work properly)
This product http://www.daz3d.com/victoria4xprssnmagic
Doesn't name any other compatible figures. Usually it says works with Genesis 2 or 3 females etc...so I know how far the value spreads.
[edit: it says Victoria 4, Victoria 4 Elite]
This one, doesn't say anything about genesis or other figures so, it looks like (hope I get this right) like a MORPH for 1 single character. And will ONLY show up if I use that base model Voctoria as a starting point. Right?
So if I try and apply that to another genesis 2 or 3 character- it either won't work or I'll get unpredictable results.
Right??

Although this looks like sliders and dials, I kinda do prefer to look at faces with expressions on them already when going through the library, except as this product offers, I'd like to mix and match more easily. This looks like a wonderful purchase, but I don't wanbt to get it ajnd only have it work or apply to a single character = victoria.
So is this "safe" or is there a better 'pick a face' type expression generator that will work across more figures?
RULES FOR FREEBIE CONTEST AS OF JAN 1ST 2017 Change in Rules Plz Read! Why was the number of required free items reduced to 5?
If I remember correctly, the idea was to make the entrants be creative in their use of freebies.
Now it is true that Music made that rule 10(?) years ago, and he has stepped down.We even had mini contests over the most freebies in a render. (I forget who had the most, not me of course.)

As for increasing the paid items to 5, well, this is a freebie contest.Just a few thoughts.
I believe the changes were to encourage more people to participate in the contest. For you and me it is not difficult to come up with 10 items with associated links that work within the confines of the image or theme. Not all people are as vested in the freebie world as we are. Music changed the rules when he took over as well. When the contest went under his wing he allowed the morph packages to be no count. Before that it had to be all freebies no pay fors. I can't imagine how people could do that. The number of rigged free characters were pretty sparse.
That said, it can be interesting to try new things, we have a new coordinator and her wish is to make the freebie contest work again. I look at the rules as just a framework for me to build upon. Oh and I believe it was Assassin who is the current record holder. I think I remember something like 100 items in one of the images.
GenX2 Update / Genesis 3 Add-On [Commercial]I have a question about usage of morphs. If I convert a morph of say a m4 character am I allowed to share the morph with the creator of the character.? Or are morphs I convert only usable by me?
The Readmes states:
There are no limitations in using the morphs transferred by Genesis Generation X2. However, it's the responsibility of the user to ensure that using or distributing the transferred morphs does not violate the rights of any third parties like the original creators of the morphs.
All morphs that are created automatically by Genesis Generation X2 are derived from copyrighted material.
3D Art FREEBIE CHALLENGE-January 2017- THE DAY AFTER HANGOVER -Main ThreadThat must have been some party! Good work!
Dana
It was - I think? My best mates are the Stiltskin twins, all three and a half sets of 'em, who make a mean wotcheen (an evil-smelling wasabi potcheen). Under the influence we'd decided to go to Timmy's party dressed as Snow White and the seven samurai dwarven brides for seven brothers, again - it's a sort of tradition or an old charter or something. No idea what happened to the tutu I was wearing at the start of the evening, except that it wouldn't morph appropriately for me to sit down.
Saving morph for selling characterHere's the full setup on a character morph
Note that if you are using existing morphs to create your character, that those morphs will need to be reversed out so that you are not stealing other people's work and that those morphs will also be required to make your character work correctly
Just something to think about
There are also morph kits available that can be used as merchant resources. I suggest using some of those if you are not going to create your own morph in zbrush or other modeling software.
That's not to say you can't create a character using the standard G3 morphs from DAZ. You can, but they will need to be reversed out and required for your character.
Hope that helps
ways to make Iray Daz renders more realistic?...for character proofs, I use a neutral backdrop prop, a freebie ambient HDRI created by Mec4D (sadly no longer available) and one or two photometric spots set to disc with shadow softness dialled up to between 10 - 15%. This makes it easier to spot issues/flaws with morphs and shaders.
I agree with Nonesuch00 that along with skin and hair, clothing can also make or break the sense of realism. Sadly Daz does not have an "open ended" dynamics engine like Poser, so only clothing specifically created for the Optitiex dynamics system will work within the programme. You can of course use Poser, Marvelous Designer, or any other software allows for "open" cloth dynamics then export character and clothing as a .obj, however that will remove all rigging so you will not be able to make any additional pose or morph adjustments afterwards.
There are also no hair dynamics available either (like Carrara offers) so you are pretty much at the mercy of what movement morphs which may or "may not" be included. If you have and are experienced with LAMH, that will help as the hair can be converted to fibremesh for rendering in Iray (which as a bit more "friendly" render time wise than ,obj format). You would of course need to "pre pose" the hair through styling it as there is no rigging involved.

When you go to one of Timmy* Traveller's Hogmanay fancy dress parties it's not advisable to break into his cellar and crash out on the old Victorian electro-mechanical massage chair he keeps locked away there. At least I thought it was a massage chair, because it started to hum and vibrate when I accidentally nudged one of the levers...

New Nybras textureWould need to be converted to DS format. Dug him out of my library earlier. Would be cool to actually do an HD morph add on for him with an additional set of new textures. There were some nice sets up at Rendo at one time.
I would certainly snap up a Genesis (1, 2 or 3) version in a heartbeat. He's been one of my favourite characters since he came out and it would be awesome to be able to use different clothes on him.

There's a thought, Not sure how open Daz would be to it, but it's a cool idea.
Saving morph for selling characterYes. Where are you right-clicking? And what options are showing?
Oooh I was clicking in Parameters, not over the properties! Ahh shame on me!
now it worked! I went until it told me to do ERC-Freeze... Then I did it and opened a box, I just accept it without changing? Also, I tried saving head and body separate but I have no idea how to select just the head or just the body :/ do you happen to know how to?

taemimum - Go to the main File dropdown menu and scroll down to Save As. Depending on what you're trying to do, you need to scroll down to Support Asset, click on it and then scroll over to Morph Asset and click on it. You will then have the option to select the morphs you've made for your character. Make sure to only click the morphs you've made, because otherwise it will include ALL the other morphs that are currently loaded (but not necessarily active) in your figure. Then you'll need to go back to the File drop down menu Save As but this time save Character. This will save your character as a unit (not just the morph parts). To make your character a product, it has to have both a character file and the associated morphs will need to be in your base figure's data folder.
I can use that to save a character for selling with no problems with copyright? I like this step by step, I will try to do this way! Thank you! :D
virtual penny 4 yor carrara thoughts ?up to frame 102
hafta to be careful dropping camera down on the gorge from high, cliffs are cutouts.
thinkin killing it at frame 120. wanted to work on setting up the daveo sets to be rara ready.
i confuse the daveo madlab with the artcollab lab (doh) 2 different things lol
I just recently converted all of the models in my S.F.C.S. by Davorama from being Figures (cannot be Duplicated by Ctrl + D) into Props (Can be Duplicated with Ctrl + D) Of course, your MadLab doesn't need this... just being Daveo reminded me of this LOLI still haven't optimized the shaders, but converting them all into props will make the set so much more accessible for me to use! I've taken the time to add movement morphs directly to the model so the rigging is simply no longer needed. I think Figures are easier in Poser because folks can turn off individual bones. In Carrara, I can simply set them to invisible or delete them. Doesn't matter. So I'd rather have the duplication capabilities.
I used Fenric's Unlock, then removed Model from Skeleton, renamed Model to the name of the Figure and deleted the rest of it. Works like a charm. I've been doing this more and more lately with models that I don't need rigging on - like certain vehicles. Almost all vehicle models from Daz3d are Figures. Some of them work fine as distant, duplicated props with no moving parts, or otherwise parts that move via morph dial.
This S.F.C.S. worked really nicely with the ability to Ctrl + D!!! Makes it like magic!
EDIT:
Forgot to add that I'll also be adding lighting to all of the parts that emit light too.
So then what? Why do all of this?
I don't store all of the parts individually. Instead I opt to place them all in one scene and place them all out like in a Hardware Store - Ceilings over here, Floors over there, Doors, Gadgets, Walls, Dividers - they all have a spot in the store and are grouped by category.
You see, not being a rigged figure has another fun aspect - it can be copied from one Carrara window to another! So I open my S.F.C.S. store and shop for what I want. I pick something out and copy it, then paste it into my scene that I'm building. Easy and fun!
SY Breast Helper vs Clothing Smoothers: Which wins the booby prize? It is in fact possible to change the projected values on individual clothing items after you dial in the universal fixers. You have to have show hidden checked in your Parameters, but if you do you can go to each item and say dial the fixer down to 50% on the jacket where it's 60% in a shirt.
Ahh, yes. Of course.
Its a good morph package. I like it. The strap helpers are really good as well. They add some really needed dimension to the clothing.
V1 and V2?Hi Guys,
I have Victoria 1 (from Mimic Lite) and CDI's Roxanne. I can load Roxanne, but I cannot apply any of the facial or body morphs. At best, I can get Roxanne's eyes to bug out.
Has anyone else had a similar problem?
Thanks!
Roxanne will work with Victoria 1. I have both V1 and V2 installed. I pulled out Victoria 2 from my runtime and things worked. So I went digging into what Mimic Lite had in it. The geometry for V1 is called blMilWomLoNG.obj. Roxanne is looking for blMilWom.obj. So there is one of your problems. Wrong name reference for the object. A note, file size between the base Victoria 1 and the Victoria 1 in Mimic Lite are different. I then went into the Roxanne cr2 and changed the obj reference to see what happens. There was some change in the face when an expression was selected but not all of changes to the face were made. When I applied the body poses there was no change. Conclusion the Victoria 1 in Mimic Lite is not the same Victoria 1 from the base 'Millinium Woman' Victoria 1. That is disappointing. I am sorry that you will not be able to use Roxanne.

blMilWomLoNG.obj would be a low resolution version - prsumably NG means no nipples, since the figure doesn't have any genitals as such. Both Victoria 1 and Victoria 2 use the same blMilWom.obj since Victoria 2 is essentially a morph expansion for Victoria 1.

NEW MASTERY COURSE FOR DAZ STUDIO
How would you like to discover the steps to design, model and rig complex outfits, such as long dresses or multi-layered outfits for DAZ Studio?
We have a new comprehensive course presented by Arki on exposing every step on how to do this. The course will be first broadcast as a series of live webinars and the HD recordings will be available in the DAZ store, most likely towards the end of March. At the five live sessions, you can learn a little faster, ask questions on the spot, go deeper on certain topics and have steps repeated if necessary.
We're even working on a screenshot guide for those that prefer to learn in this way; again we'll make this available in the store.
In the images below, Arki shows her original design sketches and the final rigged and textured dress. You'll learn exactly how these garments (including jewelry accessories) are created, gaining a higher level of mastery for creating these kind of attractive outfits in DAZ Studio.
In this course we're using DAZ Studio Pro 4.9 and the modelling sofware Hexagon in the workflow. There will be five sessions, each planned to last 1.5 hours, though extra Q&A may extend the time.
Registration for the live webinars will include the HD recordings.

Will's WIP threadYeah, the base resolution thing messed me up a few times. The other thing was that when I imported into Blender I didn't know I was supposed to tell it to keep vertices. I didn't even know what that meant. It wasn't until I watched Sickleyield's morph tutorial from DS to Blender and back that I realized what I was doing wrong or, in this case, not doing right. The default import for Blender keeps vertices separate. Every time I tried to make a morph, I was moving body parts and couldn't figure out how to keep them all together and then DS would have a hissy fit and spit errors at me.
At least now, I know what to do and I learned how to create a preset in Blender so I just have to click a preset. Thanks, @Sickleyield! :)
Blender Bridge script please?I wonder if any of the talented scripters out there might consider a DAZ to Blender Bridge, something like the Hexagon and GoZ bridges? I know Casual has a plugin to send a whole scene over to Blender for rendering in Cycles but I'm thinking just figures, clothing items, etc. for creating a quick custom morph.
Millenium Dog BundleYou could use Blender to send the dog over and morph, then use GIMP to create some textures. A collie would be a challanging project because of the long hair. I would talk to the creator of Look at my hair and see if it is possible with this Plugin >>>http://www.daz3d.com/look-at-my-hair
Saving morph for selling characterAm I allowed to share such a morph or receive such a morph from someone in the user community? (not as a commercial sale or marketed as such), and if so, will they have to own the exact same product license characters n order to see the same face morph I created them from ? ...or can I simply save the resulting morph mix for the base G3 and expect it can be viewed by someone who only has G3? thxs
