I tried anther approach with Shapelight and IES profile. That seems to do the area shadows but with another problem

the IES light doesn't show up correctly in reflections

I will try to fake a shape of, say a neon tube and apply the IES profile

with Shapelight there seems to be only Ring and square (?) or maybe there is a setting hidden that I haven't found yet

A 3D IRAY rendered icon and text in the style of the ESRB ( https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?search=ESRB&title=Special:MediaSearch&go=Go&type=image ) should not be a giant challenge for an artist working at DAZ. Please atleast make some effort to prettify your Mature Content Image.

Hi, everyone :)  Well, it's happened again. I've gone almost a full year hardly touching Daz Studio. I've forgotten so much, and now I'm wondering if it can be used in a way I never contemplated, to challenge my first hobby: physical painting of scale miniatures... which I also haven't done in about 15 years. Both hobbies have passed me by but I have a compelling reason to paint again, and I'd like to use Daz Studio if it's even possible. When I search the forums for topics like 3D printing, I can't find anything relevant among hundred of hits. I'd welcome a link to where they're discussing this; I can't be the only one wanting to print 3D models.
What I'm trying to do is pose two historical figures for the upcoming 80th anniversary of D-Day: one Army lieutenant and one Navy ensign. They won't be for sale; they'll be gifts but it's conceivable I might paint them 2-3 times for different people. So I have a few ultra-noob questions:
1) I think I saw a 3D printer once, a long time ago, just sitting there dormant on someone's desk. I'm not what you'd call an experienced user! But I guess the models have to be .stl format before they can be read and printed by the machines, yes? Or can they be .obj files? And the real question is, can Daz Studio export a scene subset in printer-ready format? (I'll have figures only with clothes and props.) I'd print them separately and create the scene around them.
2) I've never tried the face-tansfer products. What's the preferred tool for that these days? 
3) What are the legal issues involved? I foresee two of interest here.

• I noticed a long time ago the Shop offers option for 3D Printing licensing, but the relevant section of the EULA I just read today makes no sense on its face. I think I'm seeing that it's ok to print whatever I buy as long as it's for personal use, which this is. So why do I need to buy a 3D Print license Add-on?
• I suppose Tom Hanks & friends get bent out of shape when their likenesses are used without permission. But what about actual people? It must be alright to create a likeness of George Washington or George Patton, yes? What if I wanted to produce a physical 3D portrait of two WWII veterans no longer living, using available photos? Does the source of the photo become a legal complication? Are there legal pitfalls I'm not considering?

4) How does one optimize an output model like this so that the parts can be painted separately and assiembled like a commercial model kit?
5) Maybe this is better suited to the ones with their hands on the printing machines, but I'm wondering if I need to set up the model so it gets printed at a specified scale?
There might be more later but those are the big ones now. I'll be curious to learn about it. Thank you kindly -

I think it works under the same principle that if you bought it it's in DIM, in this case if you registered it it's also in DIM. I downloaded all my previous versions at that time, starting with 2.0 both 32 bit and 64 versions that were available. Apparently I didn't register all the versions I had over time, which annoyed me.

This was about 2 years ago.

 I ended up checking out the manifest files and found a dsx file for 4.21 public build.  Is that what you did?  I'd love to find out, because I'm gonna need the last stable version if I wanna upgrade soon. I'd also love to go back to 4.16 or install that version alongside the beta 4.21 I have and the 4.22 public I stupidly upgraded to.

Hi anyone has any idea where to buy a puppy dog for daz? I looked in the forum/store and apparently there was a "Millenium Dog/Puppy" but only the LE version is available now for sale, all other packs are nowhere to be found + seems very old but still if I literally have no other choise I'd take it, but I also searched some other stores and there's no way to buy it...
I'm looking for a puppy that isn't benji basically: a puppy that can be a wolf, a german shepherd, a husky - not a labrador.

I wonder if DAZ might be able to look at one or two bits of appropriate additional info to generate a default setting rather than the default assumption that everyone is a child and needs to be protected.

I am most definitely old enough to see 'Mature' content, as evidenced that I have been a registered forum member for 21 years. Surely that is one piece of info that should be used to generate a default value for the tickbox? I can't be a child or I'd have registered before being born. And the fact it's not been an issue with me in the previous 21 years should also be considered. Can the people who generate these settings not think a little harder in the first place?

Time-limited free access promotions for a commercial application generally are moved, or removed - and in this case the free access promotion is part of a graphics challenge, hence moving it to Art Studio. Temp freebies have their own thread. Full threads in the Freebies forum are meant to be for items that will be free for an extended/indefinite period.

You do realize that's a hypicritcal statement. If those are the guidelines, then all threads related to getting the Daz program and all temporary freeibes should also be moved to this forum and not be in the Freebies Forum and Commons Forum..

I have [the NVIDIA MDL Example] this set of shaders. I have no idea where they came from, they aren't listed in purchased products, in the general shop (near as I can tell) - nor is therr a file in my folder of stuff I got elsewhere that I installed in my "DAZ installed" folder. They are a total mystery to me. Thing is, until a recent update they worked in Studio. Now they don't. The change the diffuse to plain white and convert the surface to a format I've never seen before. I am wondering if anyone else knows what this is, why it's not working, and if I can fix it.

2nd question. While trying to search through shaders to see if I can find this one somehow I came across a bunch of stuff that is being blocked by a mature filter. I'm 61, I think I can handle a mature image or two. Is there a way to turn that filter off? I cannot for example look at most of the mannequin bundle for G9.

For what it's worth, it failed again in exactly the same way. Weird thing is, if I'm understanding the log file correctly, it seems to think it's worked. And in fact it seems to have partially worked, I think; in the data directory, under Sixus1, there's an "Operation Arrowhead (Cv)" directory that seems to have been created yesterday and was updated today. There are subdirectories, and DSF files in those directories. It's created the user-facing directory in the Content Library side as well, but it's completely failed to make any front-facing DUFs or icons.

EDIT, 3/11, 1:05AM: The forum finally let me upload the zip file with the log.

The script definitely crashed:

All of a sudden when I come to the forum I get adds across the top and bottom of the forum window. They were never there before. Is this something new or is it just me seeing these things? — I don’t want to click on the little “x” in their corner for fear that might install something bad.

I am following a tutorial on how to make a shirt. I used GoZ to send my Ogre HD from DAZ to ZBrush. I then made a shirt by masking off the shirt location on his body and then converted the mask into polygroups, etc.

After doing some detailing on the shirt, I decided to test it on the Ogre in DAZ (using GoZ). At first it look OK though for some reason there were a few poke-throughs on his upper back (which were not there in ZBrush). But when I did the Transfer Utility on the shirt - it blew up. No matter what I did, it blew up.

I don’t know why but the forum won’t upload my picts. So let me describe the blowup. It is like the Ogre jumped from some place high and the air was caught in the shirt ballooning it up over his head and out from his body. The Ogre’s arms dropped below the arm holes and created two new holes.

What am I doing wrong?

I previously posted a question like this in the wrong sub-forum, so this time I'm making a dedicated thread to ask about background products I'd like to track down. In this case, I was wondering about a space dock used on the March Madness page from this week (attached since I could not find a linkable version of the image). I went through all of the sci-fi environments and did not see a good match, so it might be 3rd party or something kit-bashed by whoever made the promo renders. If you recognize it, I'd love to hear about it.

Maybe it's all these ads.  There are three places for them on the forum pages.  When you add that much to a page all at once, it increases the possibility of problems.  Or, maybe the hamster has gone on vacation.
