Also, is Velus hair separately applied?
I posted a few pages back, near top of page 22) some info on the vellus hair and a screenshot of the different vellus pieces in the library - but to answer your question directly, yes, you add the vellus hair the same as you might add regular hair on the head and you can add the whole body, or just the pieces relevant to your render. Hope this helps.

Played with the PBR Skin shader and love it.
I used Genesis Female 8.1 and used a skin texture, I think Amira with makeup and all the rest of it.
Then applied the PBR Skin shader and Victoria 8.1 eyes.
I LOVE it, it makes the skin look so much better.
Some options in the surface tab needed to be switched on and I changed the base colour and the translucency colour.
Having so much fun.:)

This is beautiful. Are you applying it to all the surfaces?
update
OMG all I get is a glowing white blob. This is way too difficult
Genesis 8.1 / Victoria 8.1Hey Nosiferret,
Thanks for your feedback! Digital realism is the standard we are striving to hit daily! Tattoos, in particular, are actually really near and dear to my heart – I have two full tattoo sleeves. For Victoria's 8.1 tattoos we collaborated with an incredibly talented Canadian tattoo artist named Birdie. She created these custom tattoos for Victoria specifically, and worked with us to determine placement, coloring, and ultimately how to apply it to the skin shader to get just the right amount of skin detail! The feedback on Victoria 8.1, and the tattoos has been extremely positive, and we hope you enjoy creating with her!
If you want to check out Birdie’s work, you can see it here: https://www.instagram.com/birdietattoos/
Wow, that is really cool that you all did that and delved that deeply into making it. The tattoos really do look fantastic. I'm very much looking forward to picking her up later today and playing around. Hope to see more tattoos like this as I usually throw some on my characters and the more options the better!

I didn't want to ask this question in the wrong place...and I think I already know what the answer is, but didn't want to wade through all the Genesis 8.1 Female / Victoria 8.1 discussions: Is Genesis 8.1 Starter Male yet to be released? I'm assuming after the Victoria launch, Michael will be next. I see in the store already that figures are compatible with 8.1 Male, but can only see 8.1 Female in the Starter Essentials.
Yes, it is still to be released - though we haven't been told when. I will lock this thread to avoid proliferation.
Genesis 8.1 Male / Michael 8.1Not necessarily that Michael follows Victoria. Historically looking

You know. *drags out a small soap box* Each figure they roll out there is a strong emphasis on some kind of realism. Way back in V3 days, the eyes were always weird and I don't think were addressed until V4. Then there was a head pounding time trying to get the skin to look as real as possible, to make that 2d skin appear 3d-real. Merchants worked hard with each new model. Took a while for the eyes to catch up but we're about there, some merchants got it, others need help. So with the release of 8.1, tweeking the need to make Vic smile look more like a smile as one reason for rolling out 8.1. So why after all these years, hasn't there been an improvement on tats? Today it seems there is a huge need for female figures to be covered in tattoos, then slap a $25 price tag on the model and put it in the market . If you're doing to do that, can you please take the time to make the tattoo appear real instead of it looking like some childs temp tats they got out of a cracker jack box. All the tats I see on these models are super low 2d, there is no life or vibrance in them. We take the time to make the skin appear real and then destroy that effort with an ultra flat tattoo over 3/4 of the body. Please research how real tattoos look on real skin, the shading, how dimensional they look, a 3d image on a 3d figure.

I don't have any renders to hand yet, but I really like Victoria 8.1...
...While she might at first appear a bit less glamorous than Victoria 8, she has a more typical everyday body shape that will lend itself much better to blending with other shape morphs for custom characters - it's always easier to add to small breasts than it is to reduce large breasts with the morphs we have - much less of an arch in her lower back, but a pinch in at the waist and she can be glammed-up in a thrice. There might be a couple of things I would prefer to be different, but to get that sort of detail, I'd really need to improve my own sculpting skills and get stuck in myself - V8.1 is a step in the more versatile direction, which I see as a good thing.
I think she is also the first Victoria that's not 6 feet tall, which brings her closer to reality.
As some who's over "6 feet" tall, and has several female friends who are taller than me, how is being taller than whatever your local average not "reality".

That's the same logic as with the female bumpers... Since I know a woman with two beach balls on her chest, that should be the starting point for any 3D base model as well...
It's just easier to make things bigger and taller than smaller and shorter, at least has been with these models ever since I got onto the wagon with V3/V4.
Perhaps you actually meant "closer to average" not "closer to reality" then?
As there's women with (exceptionally) large breasts in "reality", a large breasted woman isn't necessarily any more "unrealistic" than an "average" or "small" breasted woman. You could claim she was "not average" but, a Albino and exceptionally short people aren't either. You have to remember these are creations made with artistic license rather than as a statistical representation of the humans of the planet (I mean, there's no obese female core characters).
If anything, in experience, making things bigger is harder as the textures get more stretched (squished textures generally don't look so bad). None of the base models work well with "beach ball" sized breasts..

Textures are easier to fix, I'm talking about manipulating the mesh and getting the clothes and hair fitted accordingly, but maybe average would be a better word.

Hi all
I've played with the new Victoria 8.1 and did a test render which I'm attaching here. I cannot figure out how to 'activate' the face and body hairs (vellus hairs). Could someone please advise me on that?
Thank you!
I don't have V8.1 but I assume the vellus hairs would be a conforming prop in the anatomy folder with the eyelashes etc.
Hi Fred
Thank you for taking the time to look at my question (and answer me) :)
Victoria 8.1 comes with these only, as far as I can figure out:
The Vellus hair does not come with Victoria 8.1, it is in the University Bundle and the Loving Life Bundle.
that has been updated
now it will come with V8.1 and future DAZ 8.1 characters

Not sure if anyone else has announced this yet, but since it's been a hot topic: we have been told that the Velus etc. hair will be added to the Victoria 8.1 Base for new and existing purchasers sometime today. It will also be included with future 8.1 base characters.
Great news, now just need to update the genesis 8.1 page to remove the feature.I think they should expand the feature list instead...
"Horns, wings, mertails, fangs, goat legs and horse bodies have been added for the female face and body"
"Cat and fox morphs and shiny cat fur have been added for Males"

Day 2 - Bundle 2
Day 3 - Discount for buying both
