Using GenX2 on Toon Genesis characters?
Ok.. finaly getting back to this.. I've done a basic transfer, but I wanted to do a head only transfer...is that not possible? Or am I just not remembering how to do that?
(The one I tried gave me a head morph in the right category, but it morphs the whole thing)
Serious asymmetry problem, is Aiko6 an incomplete product?jestmart said:
Aiko 6 is a morph (so can't cut in half and mirror) for Gensis 2 Female so weight maps aren't the issue as other characters based off G2F don't show this behavior.
Morph can be mirrored. Open the cr2 file with a text editor, you will see the deformation values for each verticle, and the index of the verticles are the same as the original G2 model. It should be easy for a famous company like DAZ to do it automatically by writing a program. Even as an amateur, I repaired the the obj and morphs half automatically by processing the data through Excel/VBA.
I don't believe the weightmap issue only happens for A6 unless whoever shows me that the weightmap of hip part doesn't have the rubbish verticle I mentioned for another G2F-based model. Even though the problems in A6 are obvious if the mesh mode is turned on or you have a look into the cr2-file, few people realized that.
My Project: Brash Lonergan adventures - Warning AI Discussion PossibleThanks, Phil. For some reason, I am having touble getting the ERC to link control of a morph by rotating of a skeleton bone. I wonder if it might be the angles vs quaternion thing. But it might just be the issue of controlling a slider between 0-1 with something rotating in radians. I'm not even bothering with the Brash model. I'm just testing it on a more simple mesh. See the feet model above.
Dale by Saiyaness@Saiyaness he's another great character but got a slight problem with another just finally got around to looking at Abel loaded from the smart menu his morphs don't work tried updating meta and installing reinstalling yes have aging morphs btw anyway I went into the other shaping tab in parameters section found the body dial but couldn't locate the shaping dial for head only appeared when typed his name in search so I've worked out how to get him but thought let you know
Hmmm...that's weird! I haven't had any concerns from anyone else about loading his morph. Hopefully it was just a hiccup? Do you have a custom library set-up maybe moving files to weird places?
Is it his Character preset, Shaping presets or his Head and Body dials that aren't working? Do you have Genesis 3 Male Head Morphs as well?
I'm glad you got it working eventually. Sorry for the inconvenience! :)
Not necessarily an issue but...Okay, I decided create her a 3rd time and look at the Surfaces at each step.
1. Loaded G3F and her Surfaces are not iray. Only Eye moisture and Cornea have Ambient active.
2. Applied character morph so no changes to the Surfaces.
3 Applied character texture without converting Surfaces to iray beforehand and that application automatically changed the Surfaces to iray. None of the Surfaces have emissive active.
4. Just set up for a night scene with a single spotlight on her upper body so it leaves the nails in mostly darkness and applied a basic background so she isn't standing in the middle of nothing or clouds.
5. Applied DTAS - OiledA. There are now no emissive settings.
Before I type what happened next, I'll just say that I typed the above as I was applying each of those steps. This is what followed.
I'd intended to a render but viewing it in the iray preview, her nails didn't glow. However, the background was dark and couldn't see it so I decided to turn it into a minor emissive and attached its texture map to the emissive colour then played with the luminance. Lo and behold, her toenails start to glow. In the original image that inspired this thread, there are a number of emissives in the scene and I'm now guessing that is what is causing the shader effects to glow LOL.
Want no glow, don't have emissives in the scene :).
First image, background not an emissive.
Second image, background as an emissive but it made a lier out of me because the emissiveness isn't that strong lol.
So, I did a third image and added an emissive like the original image to duplicate the effect and this is the result. The stronger the emissive and it shining onto the surface, gives that glow in the dark effect. HA! The emissive is showing off her sparkling skin :)
Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 8Some one asked for a render of the Knights of Valor for Gen3M.
Edited to add, the poke through at the top on the torso armor is my fault as I did not dial the morph for Darius 7 into the clothes. There is a morph there and it works perfectly, I just forgot to do it. Once i did it fit over the the other parts perfectly. Also, the only reason his head is at that angle is because its part of the pose I picked lol. Has nothing to do with the neck its find when his head is in a normal position.
Duplicate formulas found in files fixI don't own that product, but it looks like you should just load your Clayton character, and look for morph sliders under parameters that say "pJCMClaytonBodyAbsUpperLowerBendDownHD3" and "FBMM3DClaytonSmootherAbsHD3" or something to that effect, there's a search bar in your parameters, so just search for AbsUpper and SmootherAbs, and slide them around, change their values, see if you have any problems. Save a test character with those morphs used and reopen it. See if the sliders are still in the same place. Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to test it out.
most popular character bundles sale - not Karen 7?most popular character bundles sale - not Karen 7?
she wasn't popular? As with so many phrses. I don't think "most popular" means exactly the same thing to the sales team at DAZ as it does to anyone else in the English speaking world. Given that the list includes the Kids 4 bundle but not the far more popular M4 and A4 sets, and the G2F Morphs bundle but not the equivalent G3F Morph bundle (which by definition would almost have to be the single best selling G3F bundle), I'd venture that re real meaning is probably much closer to "here are a handful of items that we most like to run on sale."
Sales-speak is an afront to the english language no matter the company.
It is so often, if not complete lies and fabrication, then an unusual interpretation that adverts do not get read.
I treat Daz ads the same; i look at the products, see what discount I can get on stuff I want, and if its enough buy; I sometimes read ads for their entertainment value.

Killer Legs Morphs for Genesis 3 Female(s)I can get those results with ShapeShift and the Daz Genesis body morphs when combined. Watch the vid and see if any of the morphs in there is what you could use. Got a pic example of the type of legs or shape you wanna make?
Thanks for the idea! I hadn't bought Shapeshift for G3F, although I have it for Genesis and G2F. I watched the video and it looks as if I can probably get the shape that I want. I might need to add in Dwarfology (which I already own). I just thought of this "thick bones" problem today when I saw the Killer Legs addon, but none of the options actually seem wide enough.
@Zev0: This is also the leg shape I have been failing to achieve with Shapeshift and every other morph set available, especially the cankles (can't get a smooth transition between calf and ankle). I hadn't thought about Dwarfology, though. I'll have to get that and try it.
Actually, those legs look practically identical to the shape of The Girl 4's. Granted, she's a toon, but if you have access to GenX2 and the legacy shapes, you can dial around her proportions to get that shape.
Content Directory Manager IssueIt is do to the ExP morph system that they use. It requires that all morphs be installed to the same Runtime library folder that the figures are installed to. Connect installs each product to its own sub-fold of the "Cloud" folder so ExP won't work. The Idea of being able to install from inside Studio is nice but the Connect approach is a complete failure IM(not so)HO.
Killer Legs Morphs for Genesis 3 Female(s)Oh that morph by the groin area I didn't create as a single morph because when you bend the thigh with that sort of morph that area looks very strange. However Shape Shift can mimic it in a way. See attachment. Regarding the arm contour did you try the arms muscular morph in the package? It adds that forearm contour and a bit of bicept definition, but if you want bicep bulge you will need a muscle morph pack that focuses on that.
Huh... Interesting... Though, keep in-mind that the thigh contour morph is at full 150% instead of the standard 100%. I actually fancy the stylization, because it works well with toony-looking characters, in my personal opinion.
Jenn HD Trish HDI create a preset to smooth lower lip for Jenn and Trish. Here is how it works:
This preset change the Normal Map and ADD a morph that smooth the lower lip. It has to be apply after setting makeups because, if you apply makeup after the smooth preset, the old Normal Map will comeback.
So there will both the old morph by default, and possibility to smooth lower lip

Here attached Trish and Jenn with and without smooth
Thanks a lot, kayleyss. There will be great to have such an update.
Content (runtime management) attempting to control the beastYOu should be able to install everything through DIM and tell it where you want it to go. I tend to leave all my programs and games installed on C Drive (M.2 SSD) because getting a new install of windows to recognize a program installed to a previous install does not always work. I know its anoying when all of the programs have to be reinstalled but it is what it is.
However, I have had my content installed on my E Drive for the past 10 years. i just have to tell Daz Studio that its there if i reinstall. Transfering to a new drive is easy too as its simple copy and paste. I have USB 3.1 ports on the new computer and external USB 3.1 drives that I backup to and it only takes about an hour to transfer a TB of data for me and thats inlcuding all my content.
Carrara or DAZ Studio?I almost never use Daz Studio right now, but I still think it's worth having both installed if we're into collecting content from the Daz3d store (or other markets).
The newer Daz Studio has some truly wonderful tools for working with content situations - here's a small example:
Say we see some clothing that we really like, but it's made for a different figure than what we're using. Load the clothing (without conforming to the figure) into Carrara along with the intended figure we want to fit it to.
Now, with everything still in their T-Poses, do the reshaping necessary to fit the clothing to the figure directly in the Assemble room, so we have the figure as a mannequin
When finished shaping, export the reshaped clothing as an OBJ using the Daz Studio preset in the exporter, then import it into Daz Studio using the Carrara preset in the Importer
Also load the intended target figure into Daz Studio and use the transfer utility to turn this OBJ into conforming cloth for the intended figure. It really can be as simple as that! Some things can require more fiddling with weight maps and such if we really need something precise, but the automation algorithms do a fantastic job all on their own!
===========================
Aside from that, I enjoy using aniBlock animation files in Carrara using the aniBlock Importer for Carrara. For the most part I don't use Daz Studio for this, but Daz Studio does give real-time feedback when browsing through the aniBlocks in our collections and aniMate 2 has a plethora of handy functions for tweaking aniBlocks - further customizing them to our specific needs.
===========================
I'm a Carrara user through and through. Barely touch Daz Studio, like I said. But I still really like having both on board. Even if you don't want to install it yet, definitely Buy it (Daz Studio) while it's still free. It's worth every penny of the suggested retail, and one never knows when it'll stop being Free. ;)
Post Your Renders like it's the year 2020!!!Many thanks to Misty! Now my avatar morphing works in Carrara with pose controls. The main problem for me is very long saving. Maybe I must save all internally?

Looks a lot like you, doesn't it? So... do all of the shape dials we might buy for G3 work on those?
It refers to the time when I had long hair. Now I am looking much more like on the image «after».
As for Janette and Johnathon, they support not only all those Kenji-Menji but all the morphs that I created for them at the moment.
I thought so. She does look a lot like you! Hair or no hair... exception being that the real you looks much better ;)
I agree with Head Wax, you do incredible art. Truly magnificent!
click video
is too frigging hot here still so I render cooler climes
Kick Ass video, Wendy! Love the Dolly Zoom!
I had very little time, and some conversations I've been in have driven me to compare my Generation 4 heroes with my Genesis 2 heroes, and I've noticed some spectacular differences where the realism of the modern figures come with a massive 'time' hit. They seem to take forever to load and work with and save - whereas my Generation 4 heroes are very reliably fast to load, work with, save and render. This will not deter me from moving forward. I'll keep trying to find ways to work with the modern figures. But I'll always have to come back to my trusty Generation 4 when I'm in a hurry!Ha! I was just going to congratulate you on the realism of your genesis 2 character! Totally fooled me. It just shows that M4 has a lot of life left, and in the right hands he can be pretty darn realistic (in animation too, as demonstrated by stringtheory9).
I have the same experience as you with genesis. Really slows everything down.
Thanks Man! Yeah... I like the whole 4th Gen line-up still. Agree that the new are better, but still like these too! ;)
yes its all the unused morphs
I must look in my notepad if I can strip them out somehow for the notebook hack thread
I was going to experiment:
Manually download certain Genesis (whatever version) shapes and install them into an individual library, and repeat for other shapes. For example, make a separate My Library for only the items I want to use the create and support my Genesis 2 Female Rosie character - only the shapes I need, only the clothing, hair, textures, etc., and then call it My Rosie 6 Library.
Each such library would also need at least the bare-bones Genesis figure of the correct version. But since the principle is to keep the overall morph dials to a minimum, we could go further with the same library and include specifics for a Genesis 2 Male character, Genesis 1 character, and a Genesis 3 of each gender. If that was the case I'd of course name the library different than the main example... but....
I'm just wondering if that would indeed limit the number of morph dials on the specific Genesis figure, or if CMS database would auto-add anything we had installed. Worth a try for those currently working toward making a specific Genesis character.
One of the things that I like better about Generation 4 is the INJ/REM system.
They say that the dials don't actually add weight to the character unless they're changed from 0.00, but they're still there, in the list. Sometimes my reasoning for being specific on which morphs I install has more to do with a tidy collection of dials rather than a RAM weight issue.
Anyway, I really think that my above experiment would work as a benefit.
READY ! Spring Things #7 : Strappy shoes for Aiko3 ( new version 2 )tonight i'll post a revised version of the prop that corrests the small'ish issue pointed here
but i have to transfer some morphs to it and that's easier said than done
How to update Gen 4 figures with .bat files from zip? When I installed my Gen 4s into Poser on my old computer, they were in .exes and it would then run an initializing program to update the figures. I had an update program it would remind me to run every time I installed a set of morphs, and that would update the figure to make special places for those morphs, and everything was nice and neat and organized.
Now I have a new computer, so I downloaded my products again and this time the base figures are in a zip file with no exe to install them. I don't have any trouble with where to put things, I know that drill. What I need to know is how to get those .bat files to update the figure to accept new morph sets like Creature Creator, Hiro, etc. When I load morphs right now they all just pile up in a jumbled list and there's no separation (i.e. Eye, Eyeball, Nose, Mouth). So figure updating has changed and I need to know how to get it to work.
Mech/tank interior, suggestions what do you do?Tank interiors are pretty utilitarian and straight forward. However, I think the reason for a lack of mecha cockpits is that no one really knows how the pilot would transfer the commands to the mech. There's the "Pacific Rim" version where the nerve impulses of the pilot (and movement in that movie) were translated to the mech. There are some with nearly aircraft cockpits (not sure how they'd translate). My preference is the neural connection. If that is the case, then the command center would simply be a pilot's seat, neural interface, and several readouts (systems and environment).
