More believable 'hard' sci-fi content, please: a rather lengthy request.
Amusingly, I was poking at ideas for a Pak morph...
Transfer morphs from G3f to dress...problemsI am trying to transfer some morphs (some standard and some made in Zbrush) from G3f to a dress so that the dress (that was made for G3f) fits my morphed G3f figure better. I assume I should use Transfer Active Morphs. I have the G3f figure selected in the Scene Tab. However I get an error message saying: "You must selected a figure built using Parametric Joint Parameters, that either has another item "Fit to" it or is "Fit to" another item, inorder to perform this action."
I assume G3f is built using Parametric Joint Parameters and it is selected. The G3f figure does have another item "Fit to" it, namely the dress.
So, what am I doing wrong?
Skin Builder 3 Merchant Resource for Genesis 3 Female (Commercial)load you new character and select it in the surfaces tab. Now browse to the place you save your Material presets in, you can check that on the utilities tab of the skinbuilder window and there in the save skin and Material presets tab ( you should make that decision consiously where you save it) I can find mine in the content library /my library/people/Genesis3female/Materials/ there I made my owns folder called Linwellysets. choose the set you want and double click to apply
by the way with the UV swap you then can apply it to a g3m as well:
If you have the Genesis 3 Male Body Morphs, (and most of us do,) you can decrease the size of the Areolae with the Areolae Diameter morph. Using a combination of areolae and nipple morphs, you can come up with a reasonable male nipple. (I'm doing so on my first entry in the contest...)
thats a good point, thanks for the hint!
Angel-Wings that really done great, nice details and everything
Charm bracelets to be worn on wrist or (...ooh...) ankleWell there is still a way. You can export your figure in the desired pose to Poser (even as an object). Then export your bracelet/anklet to Poser, Clothify it in Poser to make it dynamic. Then Drape the bracelet/anklet over your figure until it is in the pose you want. Then you can export the morphed (draped) object, and then back in DS you can either import the item as an object and put it in the correct position for your figure pose, or better apply the morphed object to your original bangle as a morph using the mighty Morph Loader Pro in DS. Then dial the morph in as you need it. Of course, the morph may not be appropriate for different poses, but might work for some.
It's a lot of work but it should be effective. It would be nice if this could be done all within DS, but we will have to wait and hope for that.
Edit: Just remember to export your bangle from DS in base resolution or you won't be able to apply the draped version as a morph to your original bangle.
Skin Builder 3 Merchant Resource for Genesis 3 Female (Commercial)got around to using it. fun fun. =)

This is awesome! Did you apply the ear morphs before you used SB3, or after? I'm asking because when I applied elf ear morphs after SB3, part of the ear material that "grew" out of the skin turned out to remain the original skin color. Maybe it was the morph I used, but I thought it odd that the taller ears weren't the same color as the SB3 skin.

Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 8Isidorn's Top 4 for April
Seems I only managed to get 4 renders done for my DAZ gallery in April, so not much to choose from.
SY Confetti and Nature Effects Iray - render - I used more things in that render that I'd like to recommend, but to keep it to one product/render, I'll pick the confetti. Useful and verstatile.
Z Creepy Manner - Morph Dial Expressions for Clarice - features some interesting expressions on dials. In this render I dialed in two of them on the character, if memory serves me right.
Careless Braid for Genesis 3 Female(s) - Render - A nice hair with a very poseable braid.
Droid - Render - An old product (SKU 973) but still well done. Very poseable and with many materials zones. Also looks good in a cowbow hat!
What human figure do you tend to use the most and why?You mean the costume, or also the face/body?
I was just talking about the face and body (especially arm joints). Clothing is a plain Genesis vest which I used to use in any case on my first Genesis male models. And I meant that Genesis 1 Rosie version is more attractive and more realistic then V4 version and Genesis 2 version too. As for V4 figure, it's completely separate story. I recognize her in any incarnation with any morph, and as soon as I do (no matter how pretty she is), I get cramps.

RAM shortage consequencesAssuming that your machine has been configured to do so (it usually is by default under Windows), once your RAM has been exhausted, the operating system will switch to Virtual Memory for any excess - basically it will use a portion of your hard drive as though it were memory. There must, of course, be sufficient free space available for the purpose on your drive(s). When the system starts using virtual memory, there will also be a performance hit as your hard drive access and transfer rates will be slower than that of your RAM.
System memory management has evolved over the years in attempts to ensure that the CPU is kept supplied with the data it requires and thus maintain system performance. As a consequence there are several types and levels of memory in use, depending upon the task. The fastest memory is that built-in to the CPU die itself, referred to as cache memory. Although relatively limited in size, the cache memory ensures that the most important or immediately required data is available to the CPU without delays, and there are actually several layers or types of this on modern CPUs - L1, L2, etc.. Next in speed is your system RAM, which is not quite as fast as cache, but of far greater capacity. Finally, slowest but of potential greatest capacity is the virtual memory mentioned. The memory controller on the CPU is responsible for ensure which memory is used for what data, and exchanging data between the different types as required, to maximize performance. Unfortunately, VRAM on a video card is not part of this subsystem, nor does it have a similar subsystem of its own, so what you see is what you get.
What human figure do you tend to use the most and why?
Okay, cool. I often never use the expression on my V4 Rosie, but have a lot of them. This one I couldn't resist... I was playing with my new expression for Genesis by SimonWM, and found this one! It's the same hair, which is four copies of Angelina Hair that I customized.
The biggest difference in this version of Rosie is that I stylized her more with the Girl 4 Head morph - just a touch. She started out as Victoria 5, but Rosie's (the real Rosie) face is less like Victoria and more like the Basic Female face shape, but with a touch of The Girl for the mouth and eyes.
When I remove the V5 Head from V5, the head shrinks, which worked great for adding the G4 Head morph. One of our daughters looks SO much like The Girl it just kills me! LOL
Anyway, thank you SO Much for the valued input! I really appreciate (and really NEED) that!
I've really become attached (as I'm sure you have all noticed) to my V4 Rosie - having worked on her for so many years. So any other version I might make has to measure up to her, or get deleted. So far I really like this one, and when I look at me new Genesis 2 Female version, I don't like it anymore.
But that's easily fixed. If there's one thing I did in order to properly test these Genesis figures was to buy up a bunch of great morphs!
I went even further for females with Genesis 2 Female - getting one of Thorne's killer morph packs for merchants, and a bunch of other faces, including ALL of the Daz Ladies (and the younger Belle 6, upon whom Rosie 6 is now based)... that's Rosie 6 on the right.
I often render Rosie with a distressed expression, I see... hmmm
Making D.TrumpActually it's fine. He not substantially heavier than what your morph shows but when you compare your work to an image search you'll see that the lighting tends to emphasize the shadows under his chin & mouth. If you make his face glossier and the light overhead and to a shoulder harsher it will make your render more like the pictures.
TangoAlpha's Coming Soon Thread [Commercial]Yes, given the complexity, I did not think the render time for the ford scene was odd. I was sort of expecting it given my experience with Howie's scenes. Both yours and his are worth the time, but I would be happy to hear of strategies to lower the render time. Also, I am very interested now in the Daz Studio default render time for 3DL. I don't suppose anyone has tried the bridge from Studio to Bryce? Would the instances transfer?
One great place to start is to look hard at shaders. In large, intensive scenes like this, here's where I start:
Tree leaves - is there a translucency? If so, getting rid of that can make a huge difference.
While we're on leaves, is there an image in the Alpha channel? If so... perhaps replacing the leaves with any of those from the Carrara library would help. Trans-mapped leaves can realy slow things down in large scenes.
Water - in this case, I think I'd want the higher-quality water with refraction. But if you don't care about refraction, try turning that option Off in the Render room and leave the water shader's refraction setting alone for now. Are there any blurry reflections? Are reflections too high?
Volumetric Clouds can really tax a render. Disabling them completely will speed things up. But if you really like them, try making sure that you have a Sun Light in the scene, then edit the volumetric clouds to "only" use the Sun Light.
Check all of the lights' "Effects" tab for Soft Shadows. Turning those off will make a HUGE difference and, in many cases with Large scenes, won't make a bad render. If soft shadows are really needed, try using a light dome with around 88 lights without soft shadows. According to Tim Payne, reaching around 88 lights will cause the hard edges to naturally form soft shadows on their own.
Light through transparency is a big one in Carrara. Try eliminating as much use of trans maps in the alpha channel as you can. Transparency with Reflections and Refraction will also cause for a lot of calculations. If we need this stuff, try turning the max ray bounces down to 2 in the render room and se what that does. Sometimes it can really speed things up, but without enough iterations of reflected light (folks call it bounce) might look like ick in the end. It can be a trade-off sometimes.
TangoAlpha's Coming Soon Thread [Commercial]Did a quick test of the bridge from Daz Studio to Bryce. Not surprisingly, Chohole is correct. The instances did not transfer (or I did not know how to activate them or look for them). The terrains did in a low resolution way.
TangoAlpha's Coming Soon Thread [Commercial]I know nothing about the bridge. However I somehow doubt that the instance would transfer. Bryce instances work completely differently to D|S instances.
Maybe they would need to use the ford instead.

Daz Studio Content Creation and Carrara "questions"...actually, it was pretty easy and straightforward, again, thanks.
i would have to edit every morph i make if i went this route, and constantly resave the file, redistribute... It works, changing the morph around, but for the long haul i will have to let my ocd lose this battle, LOL!!!
Is this what they do for Daz Studio Character Morphs? how come those end up on the actor, and mine are ending up on the 2nd subset level? shouldnt they go to the actor level automatically by default?
Actually, in Daz Studio, for genesis they are ALL on the top level, separated by the catergory actor which has the morphs, and pose controls, which has the bend controls. My figure however, ALSO has them on the top level, set into a catergory I created.
so why does carrara flip the switch on things?!? does this even matter, will this have any affect on functionality in the future? (and that is what worries me)
For Genesis, "Posing" morphs are for the most part stored in the Genesis part of the Hierarchy, were "Shaping" morphs are in the Actor level.

(Commercial) My new product Adele for Genesis 3 is available at the storeAdele is a fantastic character! When I see a new character which I like very much, it takes at least a week before I take a decision: buy or not.
Not this time, I bought Adele the same day she came out. This indeed is a real quality-character. Okay, I knew already that Virtual World makes quality. I've also Abby, Snowflake, Akiko, Min_Seo and some others in my collection, and they are all great quality but in my opion Adele is a step higher.
When I buy a character, it's always for the skintexture but I like the morph from Adele very much too.
Put also a simple render with from Adele, out of the box.TangoAlpha's Coming Soon Thread [Commercial]Yes, given the complexity, I did not think the render time for the ford scene was odd. AIUTO...CHI CONOSCE L’ITALIANO? PARTE UNDICIEheheh... Hai ragione. A parte alcuni effetti Bump gli altri sono semplici da realizzare. Per pigrizia ho iniziato cercando un modo semplice per trasferire i morph e mi sono trovato invischiato in questo pantano. l'ho capito tardi... comunque grazie
