  • Skin Builder 3 Merchant Resource for Genesis 3 Female (Commercial)

When I was working on my first contest entry, I automatically added in the Macro Eyes Iris Concave morph to the default 60%. What I didn't realize is the Dale for G3M character comes with his own Iris Concave morph, and it was set at 100%. While I really liked the depth of his eyes, I decided the concave was obscuring part of the eye maps, and because I created them with SB3, I decided to remove the concave. I went into shaping, and filtered with the word concave, and that's when I discovered Dale had his own! I did a series of spot renders with and without the morphs. What do you guys think?

I can't tell the difference. The second set of eyes looks a tad brighter/better I suppose.

  • Is there anyway to fit clothing to a third party body model?

This isn't a morph, this is a completely new mesh? Does Cinema 4D have draping tools? I Would expect so, though I seem to recall it dpeends on which version you have.

  • What human figure do you tend to use the most and why?

Ooooh. stringtheory9  I am a sucker for good eye reflections/iris colours etc!  I am also making my own eyebrows now with a PS brush set  I got someplace I can't recall.

Dart, I don't have trouble with Genesis 2 loading UNLESS it's with the HD skin textures, so I don't use them as I don't need them. I make Normal maps with Crazybump for ruggedness, scars, etc.that I paint onto the textures.  I do need my figures to be flexible for morphs and poses.  Like Vysur I do my own expressions, but sometimes begin with a basic expression morph.

What is really nice about G3 is all those facial bones which give you more options. Extra joints in the hands and feet, forearms and shins.

This is a quickie render of my Neanderthals (for kids) I have started recently with Misty's CarrarActors for my teenage brother & sister. Am working with making the cave (from scratch!).  The younger children in the background are old Genesis 1s. I need to work with the Growing Up stuff next for G3. Fingers crossed they will work! If not, I have some as  G2s still.

Hmmm...still not very busy but I suppose the really new features are private private. I really like the scripting API updates and the seeming integration of Autofir to use with Transfer Utility.

  • Dynamic Clothing Control questions

Does anyone know if it's possible to pre-pose a dynamic garment before draping? I've tried do a zbrush morph and that translated the garment wierdly when applied, I also tried D-formers but the fields don't seem to see the mesh.

The garments rigs are from M4 era and don't pose well with the gen3 character once they are fit to it, so I have to do a l ot of manual garment posing to get it to line up roughly with the character pose and it's just hard to control.

Anyone have a workflow or suggestion? Thanks

  • Modeling Objects in Carrara - Q&A - Come One and All

Phil: What I wanted to do is paint a displacement map, then bake out the morph of the basic displacement, with the map on top to more finely refine it. That just didn't work, so I'm back to morphing by hand and painting the displacement in addition.

  • Modeling Objects in Carrara - Q&A - Come One and All

Hi Will,  I was just going to say what Andy (3DAGE) said, you can use Carrara's displacement painting in the vertex modeller to create a dispalcement map by using higher levels of smoothing, it also moves points on the base mesh which you could export to use as a morph. So you have a morph at the base resolution of the mesh and a displacement map for the finer details, which I think is what you are after. Carrara's tools for this are nowhere near as comprehensive as say Zbrush (you bascially have just displace in or out and smoothing), but for a simple job, they will do.

Hmm... the changelog shows them at 4.9.4.88 as of 5/1, with most of what I saw being SDK/Scripting API updates and documentation updates for them.  A few auto-fit and Transfer Utility fixes.

Yeh lot of fixes it seems. Log file size increased I notice. Oh and an update to IRAY. Wonder if that will add anything and what if it does.

  • Genesis + Michael 5 + UV Maps

    Hello! :)

First of all I'm sorry if this has been asked already in the past, knowing that Genesis 1.0 is quite old right now.

I've been on the hunt to replace the faithfull Michael 4 for a long time now and the more I look at Genesis 2 and Genesis 3 males, the less I like the physique or even the various face structures around.

Michael 5 has that neat combo of hunk and sexy that I was looking for to replace my OC.

The main issue is with his UV textures: I loaded genesis easily into poser, morph are all in place and everything checks, but not the texture maps.

It seems that for some weird reason, Poser Material room treats the texture maps for michael 5 as they were V4 uv maps and they are all messed up.

I did test in Daz Studio and if you mess with the UV Map setting, you can reproduce the skew effect even in daz.

Question is: is there a way to make Micheal 5 standard texture works inside poser or it is bound to stay in daz studio?
So far this is the only instance I had this sort of problem because with Freak 5 or even Genesis 2 figures, all works pretty much flawless :(

  • Fiddling with Iray skin settings...

Could someone tell me what character / texture set this image uses?

    Thanks

This is G3F (Cailin from memory) with V4 London (Metropolitan Collection) skin by danae (Renderosity). I wish she would make some native G3F skins because her V4 ones are fantastic.

I've looked but still can't identify this character - doesn't look like the Cailin in the store and nothing on rendo...

    Anybody have an idea?

    Thanks

Look at the birthmark above her left eyebrow, for example ...

The morph I am not sure about.

  • Figure clone problem

I am trying to make a custom character for Micheal 3 specifically Roronoa Zoro from One Piece. I made a Genesis 2 Clone for Michael 3 due to G2M having the hair I needed. I followed the tutorial for cloning V4 for Dawn PDF attached. I followed it all the way up to where it says load morph via Morph Loader Pro. I did so and I see no morph preset in my parameters tab like it said there would be. I checked all drop down menus. I scrolled through and still didn't see it. Now I learned that DAZ has separated the property editor into two parts for faster loading. So I also checked part two which is the property hierarchy. I scrolled through all the options there and still didn't find it so I can properly add the morph to my figure.

Not exactly sure what I am doing wrong as I followed all the steps up to that point perfectly.

  • Need help

Is the comic going to be line art, like in a newspaper, or more photo-realistic (I don't read comics much of late but how about "Heavy Metal" magazine?) or something in-between. Different rendering methods support different ranges of shaders; all have their relative strengths and weaknesses.

Assuming you want to go really sci-fi and glossy let's talk a bit about Iray. I'm sure there are all sorts of sci-fi and other Iray shaders that, when applied to a leotard or superhero suit on one of the Genesis figures will yield a suitable "space" look. Hair may be a problem - you just have to look around.

In this very basic example Genesis Female wears a wetsuit (like for surfing in the ocean), a tank dress, and leggings. Hair is "Portia" from the DAZ store; it comes in various colors. I skipped the footwear and helmet for now, and sorry about the dumb pose and so on -- I'm lazy. laugh One or two hair sets in the store will "morph" in the wind or lack of it, eg. in "weightless conditions" and you can really make it float around if you want.

Ok so leaving the hair alone for the time being, the first thing I did was apply a metallic shader to everything except the dress. I have all sorts of shiny chrome shaders and DAZ Studio even comes with a few bright samples, but I chose to tone it down a bit and I used a slightly duller, metal-like (metallic?) shader by Jen Greenlees - directly onto parts of the Genesis body to give a real skin tight look and on the leggings. See the first example below.

Next, in the second example I cut the top of the dress away with the Geometry Editor, leaving just a skirt. I could put in the boots from the M3 "Space Suit" but I hope you can distill the basic idea and steps from this rough example: even if you can't find clothing and props that 100% fit your needs from the get-go, it is possible to improvise.

Even if you can't draw you can use the base figures in DAZ to set up scenes, clicking and dragging, moving them around and pinning them, and changing camera angles and so on. This will give you a great feel for composing the scenes.

  • Rigging & Weight Mapping~ Beginners Thru Advanced

@Novica Hi, I like the effort you putting in this thread. As the title says its all about the little steps for doing rigging and weihtmapping on figures and we get a nice overview of all the tools and things you can do with.

I like to jump in here as you mentioned and hope this wount clutter this thread in terms of overview and toppic. The technics you show here can be used in many ways. Lets say you want to have parts of a prop object movable or parts of existing figures needs more poseability. With clothes its a slightly diffrent approach.

The rigging of a fitting cloth figure: Firts the cloth figure needs to have some bones named and placed the same like the original figure it should fit to - for example a genesis figure. Basicly the cloth figure you create needs the bones so with using the Fit To command they can snap to the figure bones position, rotation and even scaling to follow the movement this is also called a conforming figure. If the cloth has bones it is also treated as a figure and therefore the bending is controlled by the weightmaps. There are a two ways to get the bones and the weightmaps from the figure to the clothes. One you may have allready seen is the Auto-Fit dialouge and the other is the Transfer Utility I think they both work basicly the same. The Auto-Fit always pops up if you try to fit a cloth item to a figure it isn't designed for. Select the right figure and better choose an item type - this will copy only the needed bones to the fitted cloth item - if you can't decide choose Full-Body. These item type presets are called Projection Templates and I ask myself if you can create your own Templates.

The cloth geometry base shape to start with: To keep it simple the cloth object you may have imported as a geometry file form an external editor needs to have a base shape that fits to the genesis figure base shape and pose - exept you want to do some Reverse Source Shape From Target with the Transfer Utility later. With this method you also can have a cloth base shape that fits some dialed in character shape or pose of the genesis figure but the Transfer Utility process can reverse the current cloth base shape so it will by default fit to the genesis figure base shape in zero pose.

How to convert a prop object to a figure : In Main Menu: Edit > Object > Rigging > Convert Prop to Figure. You simply get a hip bone somewhere as a starting point for rigging. You can also parent the object to the desiered body part of a figure it should fit to and with the option Inherit Skeleton of Parent from the Covert dialouge the bones of the figure should get copyed over to the converted prop.

Of course, I'll have to build Rosie 6 again once I get these expression morphs... but that's fast and easy to do yes

Very cool that SimonWM actually sculpted entire new morphs for the expressions, instead of just making MCM (morph controlling morphs) because now we still have our other morphs available to further tweak them... it's really great how they work.

If I can, I'm getting the bundle for both G2M and G2F. But right now it's looking like I'll be just shy of that - so I'll have to get both separately... oh well... such is life, eh? ;)

  • (Commercial) My new product Adele for Genesis 3 is available at the store

Bohor, thank you so much for your feedback.  I appreciate very much your support and I am very happy that you liked my products.

I love your render, she looks very pretty!  Your render went already to my list of favorite images!!!  Thanks so much for sharing it !!!

Adele is a fantastic character! When I see a new character which I like very much, it takes at least a week before I take a decision: buy or not.
Not this time, I bought Adele the same day she came out. This indeed is a real quality-character. Okay, I knew already that Virtual World makes quality. I've also Abby, Snowflake, Akiko, Min_Seo and some others in my collection, and they are all great quality but in my opion Adele is a step higher.
When I buy a character, it's always for the skintexture but I like the morph from Adele very much too.
Put also a simple render with from Adele, out of the box.
