  • Excessively long saved figure and scene loading, saving and clearing time ...SOLVED!!!

Connect does not automatically encrypt files, it is the asinine "Cloud" folder and placing every item in its own sub-folder that breaks referencing files.  I morph the heck out my characters when used in scenes and they still only take about a minute to load

For Victoria 4/Michael 4 this si potentially an issue - which is why those are no Connect-ready. For Genesis or later there is no issue with the way the files are split, it has always been possible to have support assets for a figure spread across multiple content directories. Some add-ons with hard-coded relative paths in scripts can be an issue, as they could if moved under a non-Connect install, butt hose will fail on first load and are the exceptions.

I never said that Connect encrypts all files.  I said those that are cause a problem for me.

Can you give more details about "it is the asinine "Cloud" folder and placing every item in its own sub-folder that breaks referencing files." as I need to figure out a workaround for this.

Considering what my system is like compared to what you describe yours is like, it is obvious to me we are not doing the same things.

  • Modeling Objects in Carrara - Q&A - Come One and All

I tested a morph load against the object file I started with (IE: not modified), and it's fine. The facets are showing the same values. I've shut off smoothing and everything I can think of to keep it the same.

    I'm flummoxed.

Frustratingly, I cannot get the morph loader in Daz to accept the displaced geometry. Keeps talking about mismatch.

    sigh

    Back to the drawing board.

That is probably due to a mismatch of the resolution you are using - ensure that everything is set to Base Resolution - and of course don't do any edits to the mesh that changes the number or arrangement of vertices, other than moving them around.

I don't use version 1.2.0.12 of the DSON importer because it is too buggy.  I use the last Beta version, 1.1.3.49, which may be available in your product Library.  1.1.3.50, which was the previous released version, is essentially the same and works well too if you happened to have downloaded it in the past.

If that doesn't help, you can use the Morph Brush..

I got over excited when I saw the banner for the sale today or should I say a one second glimpse without really looking at it properly I just saw a monster but in my head I saw fallen one then saw was no monster but went through each products promos and saw it was a promo render for an entirely different type of product and relooked at the banner the creature was looks like the daz zombie morph but in my mind I saw fallen one even though both look completely different

That's my Boogeyman mixed with another morph. Maybe Mathias? Can't tell, but looks like a vampire of some sort. Pretty cool promo :)

  • Excessively long saved figure and scene loading, saving and clearing time ...SOLVED!!!

It is very likely my use case is not the same as yours.

Simply, I have Genesis 2/3 characters that use (meaning not set at 0) hundreds of shape morphs which would have to be loaded in order to render the character.

Many morphs suchs as expression or symmetrical shape morphs use other underlying morphs.

I can click on "Currently Used" and see more than 100 morphs.  One trick I have recently learned is to use GenX to create a single morph of that character.  My load times have dropped singnifcantly because I am loading a single morph vs. the 100 or so I previously loaded.

The Renderosity items reference items that are now encrypted in DAZ connect.  Since they cannot read those items due to encryption it fails with file cannot be found. In these cases I have to roll back to the DIM version of the item assuming that it exists.  Encrypted items and DAZ Connect items cause errors with the Photoshop Bridge as well.  Mainly because the Daz Connect Library is protected by DAZ so the exports from the PhotoShop Bridge fail.  The Encrypted items will not export at all.

The reason I have these issues is that over the years I have bought 9000+ items which takes up more than 1.65TBs on my hard drive.  So if anyone is going to have these issues it would be me.  Having said that my issues are a very low percentage of my items and I would say not any higher than the bug rate for other items.  It is not that big of a deal honestly but it does happen on occassion.

  • Modeling Objects in Carrara - Q&A - Come One and All

If I understand what you are trying to do, export the mesh as Wendy suggests above (at base resolution of the mesh) and then load it as a morph onto your original figure, that way you can preserve the rigging. Depending on the figure that you are using, it may be better to do that in Daz Studio. Once the morph has been created, it should be available to you in Carrara as well.

  • Dance of Kali (Anyone know what this is? ) + Link Gear + Poser

that does look interesting. Looking at the promos only the main pic shows the six armed Kali the rest being a normal female. Nothing said about textures so those bindi tattoos are probably another product. Looks like full body poses with the option to swap different top arm poses. That  pz2 file may be a body morph? for the normal looking figure? Down the bottom it says the download contains 1 poser core installer though like you say it says up top works daz 4.9- some poser content can be used in poser and vice versa true but think it takes a bit of work wont appear in your smart content menu it'd be in the cotent library section in mine I can see a sub menu called Poser Formats

hopefully others can enlighten you more on this has me interested in a lot of other products that have made the move over here that are listed as poser but have been reclassified too

  • morphs not loading/other?

Well, you should send a message to the vendor asking them to update but in te mean time:

    1. click the gear icon on the slider for the problem moprh and from the menu seelct Parameter Settings
    2. change the default value to 0 and click Accept
    3. File>Save as>Support Assets>Morph Asset, select only the morph that you just changed, and keep the other settings the same.

The only possibility I can see, if the neck is mor-or-less unchnaged, is to use two figure - have only the head bones visible on one, all but the ehad bones on the other, and fit the one with the HD morph to the one without.

  • Removing genx morphs with tab

It's a good idea never to delete anything until you're sure things work. Rename the extension so Daz won't load it in, or drag out the file to a temporary folder outside of the data folder. Restart D|S and reload your character.

If you've already used "compound" morphs with duplicates, eliminating one of the morph files will change the shape you applied, since you effectively doubled-up on the strength of the morph.

Thanks.  I saved the entire daz folder however I then just moved things over instead of copypasting them.  So I think I've broken the things I made.  I wish I had thought to copy paste instead of just moving.  It's just too much to remember what I put where.

  • Genesis Clothing Poke-Through in Poser

You can try hiding the underlying figure part if it is completely covered by the suit.

You can check if the G-suit has a Smoothing Modifier applied (look at the Parameters Tab). If not then apply one from the Edit:Figure:Geometry menu.

If there is already a Smoothing Modifier applied then you could try to increase the number of iterations. Also check the collision parameter. Play with the numbers until it solves the poke through. Remember though that it will recalculate every time you make a change and that can slow things down, so you may want to do this process when you have your final pose or just before starting an animation.

If you still have poke through issues that the Smoothing Modifier can't cope with, then you can try adding a magnet to pull out the offending clothing.

If you have a program like Blender, Carrara or Zbrush you can try to create a morph that adjusts the suit for that pose (may not be as useful for animations).

Failing all that, ask DAZ3d to include on the fly mesh adjustment brushes in DS itself.... good luck!

  • The Serena The Succubus G3F Ready to Wear (and nearly ready to wear) Thread

Thanks thistledownsname!  I don't think I have any of those in my collection currently, so feel free to share renders if you are so inclined.

I hit a 'good patch' with a few dresses (click pics to enlarge).

First off, the Diana Outfit for G2F by Amaranth and Shox-Design

    image

I managed to dial in this dress by adjusting the hip area scale, lowering the y axis and bumping the Z axis back a bit, then working upwards scaling/bending each area a bit if the dress was submerging in that area.  This dress has a few morph sliders that help dial it in a bit better as well.

Next up, the Jessica Dress for G2F by Bobbie25 and bucketload3d.

    image  (Drool...)

This one worked out of the box with no tweaks.  There's an issue with the skin poking through the right glove (and I scaled up the left glove a bit to hide some skin poking through), but that can be fixed easily enough, using the usual methods to adjust gloves when they don't want to cooperate.

Here's the Sherwood LongDress, part of the Sherwood Huntress Outfit for G2F by Bobbie25 and DarkStarBurning

    image

Again, with some scaling and a downward y adjustment at the hip, and a slight X adjustment, this mostly dialed it in, again, working upwards and bending/scaling as needed in regeions where skin poked through.  This one had a couple of morphs as well that helped 'align' things.

Finally, here's the Ulysses Dress for G2F by Nikisatez

    image

This one took a bit more on the scaling/y and z adjustments at the hip, again working upwards bending/scaling as needed, I didn't want to mess with my poses but the right wing 'folded' pose needs a slight adjustment to clear the dress.  As to whether it's 'appropriate' for a Succubus is another story, but I think there are some definite retexturing possibilities with this dress in this context (going darker/playing up the goth angle a bit).

All four of these worked with existing adjustments/dials, no special morphs needed.  These are fast/partial renders, but show off well enough how the dresses look.

I did load the Helena Dress for G2F by Nikisatez and Shox-Design onto Serena, but it'll require upward adjustment of the 'x' straps in the back using D-Formers or some other method to clear the wing roots.

That's it for now.  I'll pick this up again soon.
