Scene Optimizer [Commercial]
I was wondering about something. My workflow is that I do my work in Studio, as far as setting up a scene for a render, on my Mac and then transfer the scene to Studio on my PC since that one has my Nvidia card for rendering. Both machines have the same content. Will I be able to do this after I use your Scene Optimizer?
Hair go crazyThat's because the morphs you are using are set to AutoFollow, causing them to be projected into fitted items like the hair. if you select the hair and in the Parameters pane option menu enable Show Hidden Parameters (the lined button in the top corner, or right-click the pane's tab) you can find and zero the auto-generated morph.
Question: when using 'show hidden morphs' option under parameters tab, any way to change text color?Hey guys!
So, I've been using the 'show hidden morphs' option under the parameters tab, mainly so I can do x, y, and z scaling separately instead of all 3 directions at once.
The morph slider titles for the previously hidden morphs are in a really dark text. Sometimes it highlights when you mouse over them or click on the morph slider, but this is kind of annoying. Is there some sort of preferences option that can change the 'hidden' morph slider text to a brighter/more easily read color?
DS lost my custom actionsI fired up DS (4.8) recently to find that all of the custom actions I'd placed into my Scripts menu had disappeared. The menu commands I'd moved from various menus into the Scripts menu (Transfer Utility, convert prop to figure, etc.) are all still there. I've saved my layouts through the last several years, and when I checked my Users/AppData/etc directory for DS, it looked like everything was still there (though I did delete a bunch of them recently, old ones I hadn't used in a long time, which has me wondering if that might've caused it).
From what I can gather, blabla/Roaming/Daz 3d/Studio4/user layouts/menus/[name of layout here] seems to be the file I want, but when I open it in my text editor, I get incredibly useful entries like "<CustomAction Name="ead14a83-3787-42b4-86b1-3ff70ff401d5"/> in the places where I was expecting English (consistent with what I said previously, they are near entries like <Action Class="DzJEConvertPropToFigureAction"/> that refer to commands that are still showing up fine in the Scripts menu). All custom actions seem to use this hash file (or whatever) format; I checked several other layout/menus files and saw more of the same.
Is there any way to track down and reconstruct my old custom actions? I'm currently doing it the old fashioned way by creating a new custom action every time I use something I remember being in my Scripts menu. And by first copying the item to a single directory where I now store all my to-be-custom-actioned items against the next time this problem occurs. But it would be nice to have a list so I could do it all in one go.
P.S., I know 4.9 is the current version. Last time I installed it, some rather nasty bugs forced me to revert to 4.8. That was a while ago, so I have the latest stable and beta versions of 4.9 in my to-do queue.

In effetti ancora mi sfugge qualche cosa sulle Victoria.

Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 8Some thoughts on recent purchases:
-FaceGen: Finally getting borderline competent with it. I got into Daz many years ago, after becoming obsessed with the character creation component of Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, which uses an earlier version of FaceGen. So the dials for tweaking your creations are actually pretty familiar to me. Best practices: you need to place the target points as symmetrically as possible relative to each other, not necessarily relative to the person's face. On the skin tab and the demographics tab, dial down the "caricature" amount significantly for faces that look more recognizable and less ridiculous in the cold hard light of Iray.
-Genevieve 7 . Lovely morph, skin with very narrow applications, kind of like Ivan in that it only works for a character who is a very specific degree of hard-living or "seedy," Makeup option are not great. Memo to all PAs and people playing with Skin Builder 3: eyeshadow and lipstick are not supposed to be THE SAME COLOR, they're supposed to complement each other. Five minutes on google will tell you that. If you have both Genevieve and Mika, try Mika's skin on Genevieve, you'll like Genevieve a lot better that way. For all the flak Dante takes, I still think he has a better skin than Genevieve.
-Skin Builder 3: fast and idiot-proof. Fun to play with, kind of like LAMH or Optitex Dynamics without the crashes and frustration. Not likely to use it as a merchant resource, since what I want out of a skin is not what most customer want.
-Angel Armor: complicated to apply, because there's a ton of pieces, but it is gorgeous. Hope @midnight_stories makes enough money to justify making a male version too. I was a little worried that the chest decorations would come off as crass, but they looked fine on Aiko 7.
-Fantasy Shapes for Genesis 3: I like these, because they remind me of the old M4/V4 creature creator morphs, with more options. Have only played briefly, though.
-Rivertina: Only played with it briefly. Very attractive and dignified Steampunk/Clockpunk outfit for G3F. Hoping for some more flamboyant textures.
Genesis 2 clothes, bought cheaply to convert to Genesis 3 using Wear Them All:
-Chandrani: converts well, except for the shoes. Lovely, semi-authentic Indian/Pakistani outfit, with lots of pose controls.
-Diamond Glitter: Incredibly cute Steampunk/Clockpunk/Squaresoft (Squarepunk? LOL) outfit. Converts well, except for the heels on the shoes, which are so cute I want to learn more about rigidity nodes/maps just to make them work. Tempted to convert the more androgynous pieces (not corset or bustle, but the rest of it) to G3M.
-The Swashbuckler: Wow, a blouse with functional morphs for closing up as well as opening. What a concept! Very attractive take on a "female Sinbad" type outfit. Converts well to G3F, even the boots play nice. Less successful at converting to G3M-shirt keeps clipping through the torso.
-MechGear: Conversion went better than expected. Parent the mechanized boots (without fit to) to the shins, the cuirass to the upper chest and the backmounted sword prop to the cuirass. May need to hide hands once you get the gloves converted. Everything else "fits to" surprisingly well, although I will probably have to lock the pose controls on G3F's feet and lower chest for best results. Thank you, @SickleYield and @TheAntfarm! Looking forward to messing with the G2M version.
Other conversions:
-Lollipop Hair and Hadara Hair, converted from V4 to Genesis 1 to G3F. Mesh came out slightly crumpled at neck after V4/Genesis 1 conversion: not horrible, just made two very sleek, tidy hairstyles look messy. I've converted Genesis versions of late-era 3Dream/Mairy hairstyles to Genesis 3 relatively successfully, so this is a problem specific to hair older than that. Moral of the story: always parent pre-Genesis hair to a figure it's not designed for.
Question about Darkseal's productsSo... Hybrid Queen for V4: https://www.daz3d.com/hybrid-queen-for-v4 I noticed that it's a CR2 figure. Does this mean that it's a morph injection that uses V4 or...? Because it seems like it has materials and a head attachment from the promo image.
A .cr2 is a rigged figure file in Poser. It proboably uses the .obj files that come with V4 so you do need her to use it and it probably contains it's own morphs so it doesn't need a .pz2 to inject the morphs.
Excessively long saved figure and scene loading, saving and clearing time ...SOLVED!!!Connect does not automatically encrypt files, it is the asinine "Cloud" folder and placing every item in its own sub-folder that breaks referencing files. I morph the heck out my characters when used in scenes and they still only take about a minute to load
For Victoria 4/Michael 4 this si potentially an issue - which is why those are no Connect-ready. For Genesis or later there is no issue with the way the files are split, it has always been possible to have support assets for a figure spread across multiple content directories. Some add-ons with hard-coded relative paths in scripts can be an issue, as they could if moved under a non-Connect install, butt hose will fail on first load and are the exceptions.
Rob has a sample script showing how scripts can get an absolute location from a relative path even if isntalled via Connect http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/file_io/file_find/start
Change individual eye heights in Genesis ?Then those morphs do not adjust rig automatic to fit current morphed shape, then if you change shape drastically by morph , you may need to set eye rig
by joint editor sub menu > edit> Adjust rigging to the shape option, to locate eye rig correctly.
Change individual eye heights in Genesis ?thanks Stezza, but there has to be an inbuilt morph :) ? love your work as usual

Hybrid Queen for V4. Comes with the main suit and a prop, the back tubes. The suit has six surface zones, ArmsLegs, ChestPlate, HeadMain, Hip, NeckPiece and Tubes. The prop for the back (which actually consists of four props), has a surface area for each back tube. There are no morph injections. Fit it to your v4. There are no Mats for V4 and the suit and prop itself uses diffuse maps that can be changed to any difuse color or, find your favorite shader.
LOL that's totally not what I was expecting, but I suppose I can make it work :) Thank you!
The older generation: Victoria 2/3, Michael 2/3 and their children rendersYou're welcome!
Making a cute Mil3 baby face has been a bit of a challenge for me. One of these days I'll get around to buying the CDI set for this little figure.
There were nice freebies for the PT Girl, like the Miko uniform.
The Miko Uniform is still available: http://web.archive.org/web/20061017162942/http://digitalbabes2.com/~yamato/MilGirl.html

Wanna see a very old render (2008) of the Milbaby3 in DazStudio?

Can't really promise I'll have it up for grabs anytime soon, though... I was mainly creating it for OpenSIm virtual worlds, but I could easily pop it onto shareCG when I feel satisfied with the build itself.

Centaur 7okay I have a question how the heck do you save a material for the centuar body ??I've been making some toony skins for the horse half but can't figure out how to save them so that they will apply to both the body and the geoshell ........with out having to hand load the textures ....It's possible cause the skins that come with the centuar load on the geoshell as well as the body .......I know I'm missing something but can't figure it out .......kinda like I'd really like a morph to lenghten the legs .....can't figure that out either ......ugh!!help please
Have G3M selected and save as a Heirarchical Material instead of a material. Check the pieces you want to include in the file.
Oooooh. I didn't know that. Thanks CC! :D

Question about Darkseal's productsNo, a morph injection would be a pz2 file, I believe. Cr2 is a rigged figure, like a character, clothing...or a rigged (as opposed to morphing, parented prop) hairstyle. The latter is what the thing *seems* most like, that or a rigged helmet.
Excessively long saved figure and scene loading, saving and clearing time ...SOLVED!!!The V4/M4 I think is my issue, That makes sense now.
I have been migrating off of those older figures anyway. So now that I know what the issue is, I will use GenX to transfer the shapes and leave them behind.
Modeling Objects in Carrara - Q&A - Come One and AllI tested a morph load against the object file I started with (IE: not modified), and it's fine. The facets are showing the same values. I've shut off smoothing and everything I can think of to keep it the same.
I'm flummoxed.
Usually if morph loader won't load something it means you either added/deleted a vertex somewhere or somehow changed the vertex order. Hard to say without seeing the two models though.
