Rigging on hands are messed up on click-pose
Yeah. I made a few bend fixes for the youth morph. One of which adjusts the arm collapse. Thats the fingergater... :D
Now I feel dumb. I had it in my head that JCM's dont need to be ERC. Don't ask me why... It only makes sense. I guess lack of sleep? lol
I guess my new routine will be to load morph load. Apply the morph. Adjust rigging. THEN ERC the jcm. Am I wrong?
Error in Pretty Base...I purchased this product this morning. If I load the character and do nothing else other then try to apply nipples in shaping it will change the head morph. Is that supposed to happen?
As you can see in the second image the PBNG on the right has reverted back to it's Gen 3 head shape even though the head slidder in shaping stills show 100% for PBNG head shape and this happen with only nipples applied via slider in shaping.
Saving Characters as Scene Subsets: Some file sizes are humongous. Problem solved!I know it's a late comment, but I have just read this one. I had a similar problem, I couldn't understand that after I added Santa, by Redz, my rendering had ground, almost to a halt.
On checking the size of Santa, I found, like yourself, that he was an incredibly large as a file. Then I realised he was an HD figure, and felt that explained it. I normally load a g3 figure and convert it with a slider from the list of my characters, but this time I used the Figure complete from the character selection from Redz, hence the huge file. So going back to my usual method I managed to get the Santa figure down to a sensible file size, and all was well.
Thanks, I'll have to try that. My main character is something of a hodgepodge (though she looks fabulous IMHO
) and I'm not sure which elements from which figures went into her creation. I'll try taking her apart by saving her as a character morph, a materials preset, and whatever else I can think of, then applying those to a standard G3/V7 base character.3D Art FREEBIE CHALLENGE-JUNE 2017- BEST/WORST VACATIONS/KID ADVENTURES-Entries Thread OnlyDAZ 3D Art Freebie Challenge June 2017

which hand/foot bone you put the ik boot for genesis?nla clips are stackable, right?
should keep keyed morph expressions separate from head rotations?
ZBrush w/ DAZ Studio?I've spent a LOT of time lately using Zbrush, trying to figure out how to use it and trying to decide if it's for me.
Well, FWIW, it's incredibly powerful and can do some awesome stuff, but if you don't need the stuff it's good at then it's real tough to justify the $800 for a license. I really WANT to like it, but honestly the whole user experience and UI is, well, horrendous. It's like they intentionally made their workflow and UI exactly opposite from every other 3D/2D app out there. It's really bad, IMO.
Really.
In fact you have to see it to believe it. Incredibly frustrating, IMO.
That being said, the ZModeler (basically the polygonal/box modeller application, which BTW is a brush if you can believe that...) is extremely powerful, and combined with the scuplting and ZRemesher it's incredibly powerful. But if you can't figure out how to do even the simplest stuff, then, well, what good is it? I mean, I actually had to spend about 5 hours, and watch 5 videos, to figure out just how the Transpose gizmo (basically the Move, Scale, Rotate gizmo) works, and even now I'm still shaky on how it works. Yeah, it's super powerful, but with that comes super confusing. And I never found a really comprehensive video from someone who really understood it. And that's just a gizmo. Geesh.
In the time I've used it I've generated clothing and morphs for D|S and yeah, it's nice when you figure it out. But thats after probably 30-40 videos, maybe more.
And honestly, I'd MUCH prefer to just generate a primitive clothing OBJ in Blender, bring it into D|S and use VWD to make some awesomely realistically draped clothing, and then just transfer bones and move on (if I need rigged clothing). Heck, 10 minutes in VWD vs. 3 hours or more banging your head with ZBrush?
Anway, I guess a lot of people use it to generate clothing meshes by extracting parts of the DAZ character mesh, and then smoothing and fine tuning with the ZBrush sculpting. But that's not really my goal, so I think I'll move on and stick with Blender.
yup VWD is great for that and other things
Modeling Objects in Carrara - Q&A - Come One and AllAiko 6 with George morph. Pokeaway 2 used to fix poke through on the arms, still some on the hands.
Modeling Objects in Carrara - Q&A - Come One and Alltest of concept : can we share our own rigged "content" in a car file.

Could someone please try loading these onto Genesis 2 in Carrara
They're basically modelled and rigged conforming clothes (made in Carrara,. rigged in DS (transfer utility) ,. then saved as Carrara objects
I just want to see if there's any errors,. or missing things,. hopefully not.
there's no texture maps,. just simple shaders,. although most of it should be UV mapped enough for texturing.
thanks :)

Creech Evolutiuon Characters & Kit for Genesis 3 Male & Female [Commercial]Hmmm, There was something bugging me about the way my Creech x Bethany render turned out, and I just figured out what it was....
Here are two G3F figures both with the Creech morph and both rendered at subdivision minimum level 4.
The one on the left has each of the individual Creech Evolution morphs dialed to 100% (Hands, Feet, Body and Head)
The one on the right just has the all in one Creech Evolution morph dialed to 100%
Are the individual morphs suposed to be lower resolution?
Clear Selected Deltas from Favourites - can't find this function anymore in the new DS versionThanks to check that,
oh damn I missed that extra step with going to Vertex Selection Mode in the Geometry Editor.

So I have to select my Polygon Selectin Set - then right-click the Viewport and choose Geometry Selection>Convert Selection>Convert To Vertex Selection.
Now in Vertex Selection Mode the right-click menu shows Morph Editing not Geometry Editing - I was confused about that.

I've used it before after watching the youtube tutorials - then I forgot - thanks to check that it is still there just hidden for a reason.

Just on a basic load there are big poke through issues when I tried it on a basic G2 and also on a George morphed G2 if that helps any
Shape Shift for Genesis 8 (Commercial)I have your last two shape shift products and while I love them to bits, it's getting harder to justify spending on a new version (not just this, but everything) for a new figure every two years. I guess I need to have a 3-4 month buying time right after a figure release to get everything so I can have time to actually use my purchases in the future, LOL.
Anyway, great work as usual!
For me, the strategy is to be very selective in the initial phase here. Morph sets are essential so I have to get them. For my money I think morphs are one thing that you absolutely must have to really make a figure usable and I am not going to make my own. I know, you can transfer from older generations but it's not perfect (especially since there is no GenX for G8F and I fear there may never be one now). Besides, certain PAs here deserve the support in my opinion because of the quality and value. Zev0 is one of them.
I'm concentrating on reuse of older content while I get familiar with the model. If I decide I love G8F, once prices drop (like say October when the big annual sale hits) I will begin to spend on other content. So based on that philosophy so far I have only bought V8 and the head and body morphs for G8F. I will buy G8F Shape Shift right away. But no clothing sets as yet, one character only because I really liked the texture and it was priced well. For the time being.
Shape Shift, Growing Up, the base morph packages and a few selected transfers from G3F and I'm good 'til the fall!
A question about eyesThanks for the advice. I loaded the eyes from another model and found the Coneal Buldge morph. Those improved the appearance significantly.
Looking at the new render I think the thing I need now is a way to give the eyes a 'wet shine'.
SciFi Crates and Containers! Colonial Marines????This version was severely scaled down to fit the (free, I believe) blister-packs.
It was the same size as normal figures so maybe the image is a promo for a different version of the same line of products.
I liked the default material(s) and don't always see a need for that highly reflective iray surface look. It's pretty mat-ish and cool.
But now, I do wish tehre was a control/morph to raise the landing legs and as always, I wish there was a version with wheels.
Exporting COLADA modelsToday I almost spend my time, to check import and export collada in blender, with compare dufs,,,^^;
then I have never seen, collada can show morph as Shape key in blender.
all morph will be baked. but At current I found clear scale problem about collada when export from DS. with shape controller which tweak node scale
(not adjust rig center and end point, but directly change node scale,,)
then trying way to remove problem.
Are there actuall aprication, which can keep current scale in ds as collada, even though I use Controller which change node scale?
If not, I hope DAZ to up-date Collada exporter. FBX not show this problem.. but DS collada exporter ignore, controlled scale value, I think.
or I need to export it as animation? but if so,, it not work for rest pose rig. and mesh.
I think you have to tick the "Animation" check box when you go to export it. However there's a catch to it- it increases the filesize tenfold.
I attempted to experiment this with a few models. The file sizes often exceed 100MB and getting them into Blender is next to impossible as the models become unusable, and unviewable, in the 3D viewport. The picture included in the post is an example of when I try to import one of those models into Blender (file was exceeding 266MB).
Show Us Your Iray Renders. Part VII realized I hadn't posted any renders in forever. I haven't even completed a final main gallery quality render for V8 yet :(
This one I'm about 65% satisfied with. Its a bit to glamour glow for my tastes. And while I don't like the bottom of the fringe on the bangs, its pretty good for "thrown together in under an hour in blender" Actually the hair in my last three renders has been made in blender, using hair particles and a somewhat fiddly, but eminently useful addon, and I'm definitely enjoying the freedom of being able to make exactly what I'm looking for
This ones an older one I just... Never really bothered posting anywhere? Man is this my favorite character morph for G3 I'm going to have to see about transferring it over.
Shoulder holsterYeah, that fashion army thing doesn't seem to have an actual holster. And I would like something post-generation 4
Bad guy for Genesis looks just about perfect, though! Thanks
I believe SickleYield did a video on making a fit morph for that, or one like it, for use with newer versions of Genesis.
Morphs from G3 to G8Here is the base G8F with both custom morph of Aibell for G3F and her material, with makeup and brows via Skin Builder 3. I got a little carried away, and did a complete scene. The original image is 2K wide and can be found from the gallery page, here.

Nice job
Thank you.
UPDATED: can't autofit V4, V5, V6 clothes to G8G8's Autofit clones use a combination of reshaping the G8 topology without changing the pose, and additional clone data that reposes the target figure to the A pose.
As a guess, this is where the issues are coming in for older versions of Studio. I suspect this is not entirely new. G3 and G2 had additional clone data, too. But, as I recall, most clones up to now, reshaped the source figure to match the target item's intended figure. G8 does it the other way around, in the extreme.
Redz's tut on making clones results in clones that work the old way. G8 is reshaped to match the other figure. I won't say this method is better, but I'm fairly certain it won't crash Studio versions other that the current, and it makes a good fall back position when you find an item that doesn't fit well using the clones shipped with G8.
I've added Redz's tuts to my signature, because the Morph's thread's gotten long makingthem hard to find.
Re: V4. I'm not sure how easily these methods will cross the Genesis/Generation 4 divide. The basic tech changed between those figures, meaning it's much harder to get accurate clones this way. Pretty sure you can do it, but I haven't, myself. The Genesis line all use the same base tech, so it's much easier. If you have Gen4 clones for Genesis(2/3) then you should be able to make clones for G8 using Redz's tut. If that's not explained in the tut, ask me (or whoever). It's pretty straight foward.
