is your Windows User a default 'Administrators --
That will be a yes.
Is that the same case in you Render PC ? ! Also default 'Administrators' ? I ever helped a couple of my friends to fix some weird issues caming from such 'Administrators', though the issues were not related to cms but I just thought of a possibility...
Render pc also has full administrator rights and yes Render PC has no DAZ issues. I have an idea what might be happening here. I have posted a install to v4.21 issue and Richard helped or was trying to help me with where i couldn't for some reason Upgrade from v4.20 to v 4.21 using DIMS on my Work pc the one im having postgr issue's with.
I could Upgrade to v4.21 on my Render-PC so i copied the complete DAZ3d/Studio4 folder over from the Render-PC to my Work-PC Daz3d/Studio4 folder and now i can use v4.21. BUT i think this is maybe messing with the postgr and the metadata that kept updating. It's no biggy as ive said before, just annoying.
Wow, that was the story ! So suggest you try in your Work PC:
1) Shut Ds, open file browser, go to the path: %AppData%\DAZ 3D\Studio4\, there's a file named 'dazstudio.dau', delete it then open Ds to see if the message still popps up;
2) If the above doesn't work, try to install a fresh Public Build version...Ok i will try a bit later on and let you know... Once again thank you for your suport dude.

https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/631806/daz-studio-update-location#latestHelp Warnings and the Log File after OS wipe.OK, so if I understand correctly, your Daz content was all on a separate drive and so not wiped as part of your re-install. However, are you sure that ALL your content was there? Also, have you definitely re-added all your Daz libraries using the correct paths? I am not fully familiar with all those messages but it does sound like something is trying to load and is missing dependancies.
I don't know of any good scripts/parsers for the log file so you may have to do this by hand. However, even tho there are many such lines, you may only have to analyse a few to point out where the issue is. For example, perhaps you have missed off one of your libraries which contains a vital product or perhaps you had accidentally baked a product into a default figure that was stored outside your separate drive? If you grab a few lines and try to figure out if the things that Daz is trying to look for a correctly installed or if they should even be being loaded at that point.
I suppose one thing to ask is - now that you have done the smart content re-import metadata does the total products shown under all products roughly match the amount of products you'd expect? From what I understand, the re-import metadata function will pull all dsx files from any /runtime/support folders it can find and so if the library is mapped incorrecly it presumably would not load them and thus that may point at a mis-mapped libary.
Other than that, perhaps you can post (attach) your log file and also a screenshot of the Content Directory Manager with all sections expanded?
The alternative option could be to run with the beta which is a bit better at handling the formula errors - although that may just be papering over the issue.

I'm having similar Postgre issue. Keeps telling me it's not running on startup YET it is...
So pls refer to what we suggested as above-mentioned, see if the issue could be fixed...
I did as you suggested. Didn't solve the issue unfortunately. Its running fine in DIMS. When i stop it and start it up in DIMS and then open DAZ and check there CMS is running, yet the message keeps popping up.
I have even done the "Content Database Maintenance" and die the "Re-Import Metadata & Process Meta Queue" and still same issue. As i have said it's at this stage just a warning popping up as everthing seems to be working. Also logging off in DAZ and disabling those setting in F2/Startup as you suggested didnt help either CMS / Postgr and teh metadata issue i am having.
This sure is a strange / annoying issue but it's not hampering my work, just annoying. The Metadata auto updating has stopped so thank you for that. Now its just the postgr warning. It's weird... so, even if that cms warning message popped up, Smart Content is still working ?
And pls open your log file, search 'postgre', see if there's any warning or error message, or attach the log file in here, we may help to check...

It seems when i open DAZ app, now since updating to v3.21 it keeps doing auto Metadata update and always 1715 items. Can I stop this as it seems to slow down some functionality within daz.
Didn't see a feature requests thread...Gordig said:

I know there are various plug-ins/community content that gives some of these features, like FluidOS, Parsis, and Simtenero Particle Physics, but the ability to do these natively within DAZ is long overdue. Also a more feature-rich animation panel would be excellent.
It's totally legitimate to wish that DS had these features, but honestly I would encourage you to look at other programs that do include these features. I basically only use DS these days to export content to C4D and Houdini. DS has its niche in the marketplace, and it is arguably the best in the business at what it's intended to do, but Daz hasn't made the features you're requesting a priority.
I disagree. I am used to using 3DSMax, Modo and other external apps and renderers, but I no longer have access to them due to cost. Would love to use C4D ($60 monthly) and Houdini (indie $269 yr), but same thing, cost, even with subscription based it is still costly, so for many, that just isn't an option. I have blender installed and try as I might, still can't get past the UI. So I would love for DS to have more features and even more import options (and less export options). I would love to do everything inside just DS. Granted DS is free, and it does sooooo much for the price, so I shouldn't expect more, but it would be nice
How to get rid of old products? That's normal, esp. you ever logged in Ds ~ The grey thumbnail means it's not installed.. the icon in the upper right corner means it has could metadata (Daz Connect). If you don't wanna see them anymore, right click on the thumbnail - Show Product in Content Library, then right click on the item again - Delete..
create duf filesWhatever you save from the Daz Studio application will be a ".duf" file, whether it's a Pose Preset , a Material Preset, or a full scene.
Let's say you import a simple cube named "cube.obj", then save it as a Scene Subset named "cube", will create a "cube.duf" file.
Some exceptions are: ".dsa" files (scripts), ".dsf" files (some data files), and of course rendered images (".jpg", ".png", ".tif", etc.create duf filesHello. I would like to know how I can create my own DUF files.
Specifically I would like to import OBJ models and convert them to DUF.

Computer hung, now database "is in recovery mode"Re-importing metadata with DIM, a couple hundred at a time. All Products get fully populated, unlike that first attempt, but no UserData import yet. That will be done at the end, after I back up the cms folder before trying it. Also taking the opportunity to clear problems with metadata that I had not noticed before. The DIM log shows every little discrepancy between what is installed and what the metadata thinks it should be.

I'm having issues with older brushes not installing into Photoshop through DIM because they were created pre-CC and have to be manually installed because for some reason DIM refuses to install them into newer versions of PS. And every time Photoshop updates to a new version, you have to reinstall them again (or copy brushes over manually) which is a big pain.
I keep all my Photoshop brushes in one central location on a separate drive where I can just load them into Photoshop from the "import brushes" menu directly in Photoshop. Nice n' easy.
I do the same and still use brushes I bought/made in CS3 in Photoshop 2023. It never occured to me to try and use the DIM for this.
I import a boxershorts mesh and after using the "Transfer Utility" it is misplacedHi,
I have some basic knowledge about 3d so bear with me if I miss something obvious. I just made a first test to learn how to create some custom clothing in Marvelous Designer and then to use in DAZ.
I exported a "fresh" Michael 8 figure (without any morphs, positioning etc.) as an object, used this figure in Marvelous Designer to create a basic garment for that and exported this garment itself as an OBJ. When I first import this garment into DAZ3D everything looks good (see attached file "garment just imported". When I then use the "Transfer Utility" to parent the garment to the figure with the attached settings the boxershots is paced very strangely (see attached "garment after transfer"). I am not sure but it seems to me that the garment gets wider and is moving a little bit up. Can somebody help me?
Merging surfaces and removing unneeded verticesI know everyone is telling me it's not so, but I had cause to do it again today and ...
- Bridge over from DAZ to HEX
- Export .obj from Hex
- Import .obj into DAZ at 100% and it's just 1/10th of what it was before.
- Import .obj into DAZ at 1000% and presto! Same-same
Maybe it's just my system or my settings. In the past I've tinkered with the HEX export settings without any obvious change in behavior. It's not a problem, as such, although wierd. It's just a quirk I have to work around, and the work aound is easy.

Any product that did not have DAZ-supplied metadata ends up in LOCAL USER, and categorized as Lost and Found even after re-importing User Data, which restores the Custom Categories, but leaves them in Lost and Found. Re-installing does not remove them from LOCAL USER, and re-importing metadata a couple of times does not correct it. Total fail.
I will start over tomorrow, slowly.
Computer hung, now database "is in recovery mode"This is a disaster. The custom categories are there, but half are empty. The files are installed, according to DIM, but the Product in Studio is empty. Re-importing metadata for a specific product does nothing, and re-installing never seems to succeed in un-installing it first. Looking at the file list in DIM, tehre are certain shared files that never get removed from the product, so it seems to never finish the uninstall part. Eventually it completes, after maybe 5 minutes. Should take 2 seconds. There used to be a command to re-build that cross-index of shared files (InstallManagerFileRegister.json), but I can't find it. The file gets re-built somehow. Maybe it is all automated now.
Okay, going to go slowly and not try to import 27000 metadata files and 14 User Data files all at once.
