  • Custom Morph

The import and export options in Blender have a setting to preserve vertex order - make sure that is on.

When you load an OBJ file as a new morph DS matches the list of vertices in that against the list of vertices in the base model, and takes the difference in position as the change made byu the morph. If the order is not preserved then the vertices will move to the location intended for a different vertex, so the outline will be correct but the surface will be warped into a spiky mess instead of a smooth skin.

  • Gen X plugins not working

I've spent 3 days trying to get this to work to no avail.

I'm not going to waste any more time on it as my client is getting annoyed.

I found another way to transfer the files so I'll use a different workflow.

I do appreciate everyone's help. In the meantime I'll have gratitude for Dimension3d and all the wonderful products

he produced for us. He is sorely missed.

  • Handspan and Thorne products can't find morphs

    Hi ZippyGuitar,

Everything is in the data folder. There seems to be no way to tell where they are in the parameters tab.

There is just a reset but who knows what it is resetting. I have no clue how to find and use this mass of morphs i purchased.

I'm hoping they have not been dumped into the parameters tab with no way to figure out which ones I purchased.

Usually a vendor labels them so at least you have the vendor name to find them.

I purchased 5 sets and so far I haven't been able to use any of them.

Do you know if there is a way to contact the vendor?

    Hi,

What I am looking for now is where in the parameters do I locate these morphs.

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Cheerio  lululee

One option is to type in the characters or morph names in the search bar in Parameters Tab or Shape Tab. That should point you to their placement.

  • Changing the rigging in the legs

This is what I think has to be done on the model to make the attachement work.

    1. Shine Bone

    2. Foot Bone

    3. Heel Bone

    4. Left Metatarsals

The Toes are left as is.

I bet if someone were to make this morph for GF3, 8 and 9, they could sell it.

  • Seeking Guidance on Creating Custom 'Cyber Arms' Outfit for Genesis Model

If replacing the body part, yes, the geo-graft should be way that you go for. Check the basic tutorial from Josh Darling - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_O8qL_BIQxY as well the ones from Sickleyield - https://www.youtube.com/@SickleYield/videos You can also find some good tuts if you search "Daz geo-graft" on youtube.

For hiding the underlying arms, just use the standard function of "Set Graft Faces for Attachment..." in DS. Check the above tutorial.

    For rigging, check - https://youtu.be/Zm-QCFKowCw?si=MUVnjAqe1MbA93kG

There's no completely end-to-end tutorial of making complex geo-grafts on the youtube, there're a couple of tutorial products in the store but not so up-to-date... A couple of tools and techniques will be used but in general, the primary workflow is as below:

    - Cut and export partial body part of Genesis figure with Base Resolution. Retop and model / sculpt in Blender, export to OBJ.
    - Import OBJ into DS, rig it onto Geneisis figure with Transfer Utility. Set Graft Faces for Attachment... Save the figure asset.
    - Create custom bones as needed with Joint Editor then go for rigging as well as tweaking the weight map.
    - Create morphs as needed with Blender / DS.
    - Texturize the grafts in Blender or Substance Painter and configure the mat. presets in DS.
    - Save the figure assets as well as all needed presets.
    - Final test.

  • Anyone else a bit concerned by the pivot towards adult content?

Personally I'm hoping it gets more common that characters have promos showing them fully nude so we can see the whole texture before buying. It's not nice buying a character like Jada 8.1 to find out much later she has this weird butt darker coloring because you don't have the time to check every single thing you buy the moment you buy them. I'm not sure if I'd ask for a refund if I could because I like the face morph a lot, but still feels like paying too much for that because the skin for me is pretty much unusable as it is. And I'm sure there are many more cases like that I've forgotten or don't know about (Jada's is just the one I remember the most because I really liked the character a lot until I found out about that)

  • Custom Morph

please help, why my model is broken when I change the morphs' parameter.  I took genesis 8.1 female dev load at first, then I changed the model a little bit like nose, eye shape and when I load morph to the female dev again, it looks like this when I change the morphs's parameter.

I thought I would render RedzStudios' Cormac, Faber's Jon 8.1 and the Genesis 9 Kit Harington from anothr store.

Are you sure the image on the right actually has the head morph applied? If so, I shall surely need to quit 3D art. (It looks just like the default G9 shape to my eyes.)

On topic, I do like some aspects of the daz store's version.

I was wondering the same thing.

I have the Gen 9 one from RH (though I got it from another place, but it's the same artist) ... and it's spot on.

i must admit that I rushed when I rendered these so Kit is messed up by the focal length and the glare of the light .  In my own hands, I think your Kit is the most accurate, Faber's is flatteringly accurate though a bit tanned, and Redz's is extra versatile since he morphs into other characters easily.

  • Sad that the "Jon" Snowflake is not for G9

An easy & free way to bring across G8 morphs to G9 is to

    1. load G8 and G9 in the scene
    2. Dial up G8 Clone morph on G9 figure and pose it so that it exactly lines up with G8
    3. On G8, favorite all the morphs you want to transfer.  You can do multiple morphs by multi-select while in edit mode.
    4. Using Transfer Utility, use G8 as Source and G9 as target, and untick everything except morph targets.
    5. Click Morph Targets and under 'extended options' use Favorites as the source
    6. Morphs will be transferred without rigging, so you will need to dial up morph, then go to Edit>Figure>Rigging>Adjust Rigging to Shape to get the bones to line up with the new morph.
    7. After adjusting rigging, you can ERC freeze and save out the morph as morph asset, if you need to, for future use.
