  • Daz Studio 4.12 Pro, General Release! (*UPDATED*)

Just wish for once they had a crew that could make the software actually flawless or close to it in some way. Something in DAZ is always dying out or breaking

I mean I downloaded to 4.12 from DAZ CENTRAL and now I can't even have no more than one window of DAZ open, the vignetting dont even work anymore either (not that I was using it a lot). I use to be able to have multiple Daz windows open. So if one is rendering an image, I can be working on another image in another window of DAZ. But not anymore...I cant even completely close the program down unless I do it through the Task Manager...It just seems like no one really knows what their doing with this program because there is always something wrong with it. A lot of stuff just feels disabled or non-working, and the beta versions are always the complete version when the complete version is suppose to be better than the beta. Which means all the issues with the beta is going to be in the "complete/finished" version...Not being able to have multiple DAZ windows open is already a disappointment...

  • Still struggling with lighting issues

The other objects in the scene impede the HDRI light from reaching your central figures. You'll need to place other lights (photometric spotlights, mesh lights, etc.) into the scene to get additional lighting where you want it. One such light correctly placed may be enough. Remember to switch to "Dome and Scene" in the render lighting settings if you do this.

You could also try to remove parts of the set that are blocking the light from the HDRI from reaching your figures - set them to invisible, turn their surface opacity to 0, flat out delete them from the scene, etc.

There are also tricks you can do with visibility panes (I'm not getting the term quite right here) that change how scenery is accounted for in the render that might help, but I've never used them, someone else would have to provide that info.

  • Easy Feet For Genesis 8 Setup

Pease ink to the product page not the library page - the latter links don't work for non-buyers https://www.daz3d.com/easy-feet-for-genesis-8-female-s

It lists all install types as available, so I'm not sure why you are not seeing anything to download. I think you need to open a support ticket in case it's an acccount issue.

Sorry, thanks, wrong link I guess. Anyway yes the button for the Install Manager is there, but clicking it does literally nothing. There's also no button for Daz Central on the page. Anyway I managed to just manually install the content. I still don't know why I don't have the Install Manager on my system. It's why I assumed Daz Central had taken it over since that's new to me.

  • Easy Feet For Genesis 8 Setup

According to the readme you should find the files here once installed:

You can find new icons for loading this product in the following DAZ Studio Folders:

    • “People:Genesis 8 Female:Shapes:SF-Design”
    • “People:Genesis 8 Female:Shapes:SF-Design:Easy Feet”

You can find new icons for this product in the following DAZ Studio Categories:”

    • “Utilities:Scripts”

You don't understand. I can't find the Install Manager anywhere, and Easy Feet does not even appear in Daz Central after purchase. The product's page has no downloads for the Install Manager or Central available other than the manual instalaltion one.

  • Easy Feet For Genesis 8 Setup

The product said I just needed DazCentral, turns out the creator forgot to mention that they didn't supply an actual integrated download for it. It's a manual download... and I don't know if this is correct or what. If so, could someone please help me make it work with DazCentral some how?

    https://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/files/prod/45409/

EDIT: I only just now learned that Install Manager is no longer used, therefor rendering the download for it useless. So my question now is, can someone please guide me on how to make this DazCentral compatible i.e. turning it into a compatible file or something so that it sits neatly in my Central database?

  • Badly Needed Features
    • Cut and Paste Keyframes!

Already available - you need to select the actual keys on the properties in the Timeline to do this (but bear in mind that the Timeline iss till being worked on)

    Thanks!

    • Why are there still non-animatable properties?  I want to hide an item until frame x, and then show it using the timeline.  I want to chage the emission properties of an Iray shader when the character turns the light switch on.

Some of this is accessible through using scripting to create aninmatable proxy properties- see http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/start#elements

Yeah - I would need to know what events I can hook into, how to access the Object model in the scene, and find/alter the certain properties I am looking for.  When it should just be that ANY property can be animated.

    • Easily create aniblocks for ANY character.  Save them.  Share them.  Make a library of them.  Aniblocks are a greaet idea.  Pity they only work on like 2 characters.

DS includes only AniMate Lite - buy the full version.

Not too sure what the full version offers, but if I can create and re-use aniblocks, let me get the crowbar to pry open my wallet!

    • Particle emitters.  Smoke, fire, water, hornets, a hail of gunfire.
    • Single-sided polygons:  When I create a stage set, I use polygons only visible from the inside of the set.  So I can break the 4th wall with my camera and still see what's going on inside.  No more super-wide angle lenses needed with a camera crammed 1/100th of an inch from the wall.  Not every set is the Taj Mahal.

For this particular use case, Create>New Iray Section Plane and turn Clip Lights on in its properties. More generally, it is possible to use a custom shader created in Shader Mixer to give a surface different properties on front and back.

I have never seen one of these before.  Will read up on it.

    • EASILY IMPORT ZIP FILES.  You should be able to drag/drop a zip file into your DAZ, and have it instantly added to your library.  No more fussing about with folders in folders in folders.

Use Connect or use DIM to install properly-formatted zips

Of course.  Will look at this.

    • Integrate Daz Connect!  Unity did it.  You can too.

What do you mean? Daz Connect is integrated.

I see it's kinda integrated through Daz Central.

    • Catalog every item in Daz connect as to what figures it will and will not work with,  I'm sick of loading in shoes, pants, etc that CANNOT IN A MILLION YEARS be made to fit my figure.  If it doesn't work with Genesis 1, then SAY SO,  and don't ever offer it as in "Smart" Content if it's not compatible.

Turn on Filter By Context at bottom-left of the Smart Content pane

The filter will tell you what it's made for, not what it's compatible with.  Some items (particularly rigged hair and shoes) cannot be made to work with some figures.  So for instance, a hair is made for Gen3, and it works for Gen3 and 8 but cannot be made to work with gen1.

    • Oh yeah and nice trick where you can't use IRAY without a NVidia card.  Except that 100% of the time, my weak card can't handle it, so the CPU does all the rendering.  Therefore NVidia cards are completely NOT required for IRay renders.  If it's a licensing issue I understand, but then I'd urge you to get a divorce from NVidia and find a better renderer.

What do you mean? It has always been made clear that an nVidia card is required for GPU acceleration, but most featrues are available rendering on CPU.

When I tried to use IRAY on a non NVidia card PC, it would not allow it.  I had to use 3Dlite.  Now I have a NVidia GeForce GTX 750Ti, and when I try to restrict the render settings to force it to use my card, I get an all black image in about 1 second.  When I tell it to fail over to CPU, it renders, though exceedingly slowly.

  • User Presets save locations

I have tried to put a folder inside of Presets>Character, Presets>Material, etc. This is in my content Library. i do not use Smart Content, Connect, or  DAZ Central. They do not appear in the respective folders. They do appear in Presets>Character, Presets, Material etc. A minor thing perhaos, just trying to understand. I have not been creating presets like this very often, rather just saving a new scene or a scene subset.

I can save scenes and scene subsets into folders I have created within the Scenes and Scene Subset root folders.

  • MEC4D's celebration ( with freebies ) [commercial]

I was looking for new the DS version, then the button pop up, stuff opened and so I got the bad stuff lol. I was informed yesterday about my mistake already

well I started my 5 years old Gigabyte PC, I put one of my Titan X card inside (it have dedicated graphic card ) ( it don't have 24 lanes processor so can't handle all the cards or enough RAM   , installed the new DS version via DIM and boom, it working , I can even move fast without issues in the preview, no drag or anything like I never left my prime PC , how surprising , I could never do that with just 1 card like that before , the final test render was 12 second , compared to 2 seconds with the 4 xTitans , but it is still fine , I can finish my projects and when have to render a lot of previews my old workstation would be already and  fine again , problem solved,  happy again .

I was for too long out in the bushes, lol  time to catch up on new stuff , that including Zbrush, PS and DS , too many goddies to explore

    Cath

My power. supply just giving up on me yesterday, my workstation in stand still until Wednesday angry

maybe I switch to my oldie one for a while , so can finish some work in packing stuff

Everything started with DAZ Central and last DS version , and now it Is death, not enough volate to my Vcore , it getting bellow 0.900v and shut down everything .

    Oh, dear!

Though it might just be a blessing in disguise… DazCentral was designed for newbies, essentially for those people who find DIM intimidating.

If you have been using DIM without issue, there really is no reason to change to DazCentral, and folks who have been using DIM and then tried DazCentral found it caused issues with their custom paths and such.

However, I suspect the power supply was just waiting for an inopportune moment to "cry havoc and let slip…,"  not exactly dogs, but defintely "war!"

(I think you're going to love the new DS…!)

So the studio and DIM can both work if the site isn't running, correct?  (I don't use Smart Content, only Content Library)

Correct. AFAIK, you only need to log into DIM if you want to download new purchases or check for updated purchases. You only need to log into Daz Studio if you want to install/update products with Daz Connect or receive updated metadata for products. (Products installed by both Daz Connect and DIM receive available metadata updates when you log into Daz Studio. I don't know about Daz Central, because I won't touch that, based on so many trouble reports.).

  • Daz Studio 4.12 Pro, General Release! (*UPDATED*)

I used the Daz Central and I run in troubles I had to reset my PC this morning to early point , my system freak out some how shutting off and on until I get rid of everything manually, no way I could uninstall this normal way.

My old Library is on my backup HD so nothing lost. I am going to install again using DIM with the traditional path so I can make backup

    Thanks for the tip

I have 2. questions , why it install outside Program Files ( unable to use my GoZ plugin )  even if I put it in the plugin folder, once I close the app it remove the plugin by it own.

    My installation went into C:/Daz 3d/Applications /

very unusual location , I can't even manually remove it and my weekly software backup don;t want to include it together with my library , it just skipping the whole folder

    why?

    Cath

How are you installing? Are you using DIM? Did you check and verify the application instlation paths in DIM, if that is what you are using? I hope you aren't using the new Daz Central, because a lot of people have had that redefine their paths and they ended up with lots of problems.

  • Daz Install Manager (DIM) 1.4.0.94, Now Available! (*UPDATED*)

DIM is now telling me it has to install "Alembic for DAZ..." - but when I try to install, it gives me a dialogue box requiring a path to install to - where do I put that, please? Thanks!

DAZ Studio should be listed in the Applications tab in Advanced Settings, which also display the path. If it isn't, then the path to install Alembic is (assuming you are using 64 bit)

    C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\plugins

Oh great, it refuses that path (On my computer it's F:\DAZ Programs\DAZ 2019\DAZ 410\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\plugins - seems VERY complicated!!)...

Plus, it's suddenly decided I need a whole lot more stuff including Studio (AGAIN!), and it isn't seeing install paths for any of them! Aaargh! I'm going round in circles! I rue the day I installed Central! I think I'm just going to uninstall the whole damned lot and start again. Like I have the time! Sigh!!

  • Daz Central?

Don't install central - for a lot of people it messes up quite a lot of things. It IS a beta ...

Are you using DIM to download? In that case you should get 118 without installing central.

Else you should be abel to download the exe from here: https://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/files#prod_13176

OMG, thank you so much for that direct link!!  I dl the .118 zip and will guard it with my life!!.  I've heard lots of ppl say say the central is messing up ds and causing lots of issues for them. I have ds set up how I want it.
DazCentral image I saw looks super kindergarten to me, so yeah, no thanks.. I just like a simple searchable product library.

  • Daz Install Manager (DIM) 1.4.0.94, Now Available! (*UPDATED*)

Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner f DIM. Select Basic Settings. It shows a link for Manifest Archive. Is that link correct? Click the link. Are your DIM manifest files there? Manifest files are  DSX files that DIM saves so it knows what it has installed. If they get moved or deleted, DIM won't know what it has previously installed. If you installed Daz Central at some time, it may well have mucked with your DIM file paths. People have been screaming loudly about that problem in the forum.

Yes, it all happened after I installed Central. Suddenly Studio, Central and DIM saw different things. I have just checked the manifest folder, and only a few most recent items are in there - eeek! So the other 7800-odd installations aren't there! Did Central just remove everything in the manifest folder? Dio I have to install everything again? Thanks for your help!

See if the manifest folder which contains the files for the missing installed content exists. If it does, then move the files to the manifest folder as specified in DIM.
