  • How to restore my Daz3D Smart Content Library after Windows Reset?

The old database would be in windows.old > users > me > AppData > Roaming > Daz3d > cms > ContentCluster, but if you have already isntalled stuff anew (and, more to the point, saved your own stuff) it may not be worth trying to get it back (if it is just DIM installs you have added you could sacrifice them and then reimport the metadata). Befroe trying to replace the new database with the old make absolutely certain that all applications that use it (Daz Studio, Install manager, Daz Central, carrara) have closed down and are not still running in the background - there are a lot of separate files invovled and you don't want one of them being updated mid way through while others are the older versions. Also, make a copy of the new database first, then delete the actual files, then copy (don't drag, or cut) the old database across - databases are delicate creatures.

I found a CMS option in the edit > preferences tab, and under CMS, I connected that directory to this CMS, the windows.old directory.  That appears to have brought everything, including my recent installations, back.

Is there a risk for me to keep it this way? Will Windows.old be overwritten?

Edit - I read that Windows.old will be overwritten if I update or install Windows again as it's only the most recent past iteration and no more. So I may try to copy the file contents to where it made the previous directory?

It's the whole folder, that constitutes the database, hence my saying it is a lot of files. And yes, I would make back-ups of both versions, new and old, before trying anything else.

  • Had to install latest DazStudio, now renders are pink

I'm having the same issue. I just purchased some shaders, installed them and was restarting Daz when Central wanted to update. I thought, sure why not? Now everything renders pink in Iray. I have an older card and system, GTX 960. My computer says the drivers are up to date. Is it possible to roll back to 4.21?

  • Is DIM the protagonist now? What about Central?

But is Daz Central over for good? I'm going to install Daz in my new computer and I can't even find it to download...

    Yes.

You mean it isn't showing as available to install (or installed) in Install manager, or that you can't access DIM itself?

Thanks for your explanation! I appreciate your detailing specific examples.

I went and rewatched the History Buffs (YouTube) Apocalypto movie analysis. The conflation keeps reminding me of how I cannot personally tell apart ancient Greek and Roman architecture or Zeus to Jupiter seeming similar of Kukulkan to Quetzalcoatl, yet that may not be a fair analogy.

    You're welcome!

It is both easy and difficult to distinguish between Greek and Roman architecture because the Romans adopted so many stylistic elements from Greece and the Greek colonies in southern Italy and the eastern Mediterranean. Roman temples etc. often followed the Greek model, while functional public buildings (e.g. the basilica) represented the Roman style. The large country villas of the Roman upper class also had modified Greek features.

I find the parallels between the two major Central American civilisations and their counterparts in the Mediterranean region interesting. In terms of their organisation into city states, for example, the Mayans were very similar to the Greeks; they also shared their interest in the sciences with the Greeks. The Aztecs, on the other hand, had similarities with Rome: These included a centralised system with Rome or Tenochtitlán as the capital of a large empire, a high drive for expansion in each case and a correspondingly high degree of militarisation. Both the Romans and the Aztecs were 'engineering civilisations', etc.

Those are some fascinating elements. The Tenochtitlan and Rome capitals are so iconic [of] each.

my Denis started growling and hissing this morning especially when touched and when he walks.

I rang my brother (who had to drive across town), in a panic (me that is panicking)

went to vet who can find nothing wrong ( other than the behaviour)

have some anti-inflammitory meds could be strain (was having zoomies prior) or urinary inflammation ( but bladder empty)

    he is very miserable

thing is Lynx was playing and happy then suddenly growled and dropped dead 2 years ago

they cannot tell you what's wrong

I hope it proves to be a minor, passing irritation and not anything serious.

Animals acting strange and weird is not new. My older cat is OK. She doesn't care about anything except getting you to lie down with her. Strange things are happening around the world with animals. There are many videos of pets acting weird before disasters; I am near the New Madrid Fault. Maybe 200 to 250 Miles away. That doesn't matter, though.

New Madrid Fault. Which is still active and holds the highest earthquake risk in North America east of the Rocky Mountains. Based on sedimentary rock, the damage it can cause is up to twenty times greater than that on the West Coast.

In the winter of 1811–12, all hell broke loose and rang bells thousands of Miles away. It changed the course of a river. There is even talk about how it may create Islands in the middle of the US. Tornado season is just about over, so it's not that.

My Black is out and moving about but still acting spooked. He only came out because I fixed Salmon last night, the little mendicant.

...though I live where we could have a massive quake and tsunami event (worst than the one in Japan twelve years ago) due to the Cascadia Subduction Zone just 70 miles off the coast) I have also become quite concerned about the New Madrid fault.  Save for a tremor in 1969 that was felt as far north as Chicago and Milwaukee (the latter where I was living at the time) it has been rather dormant however the recent increase in earthquake activity in Texas, Oklahoma, and parts pf Arkansas are disconcerting as east central Texas and eastern Oklahoma are in what is called the New Madrid Seismic zone which is a large network of interconnected faults that extends east into the lower Ohio Valley .Much of the area has been seeing a rise in seismic activity that began occurring after high pressure fracking expanded in the area according to some geologists.

Unlike in Japan and parts of the west coast here, most buildings in the Mississippi valley a region were not designed with earthquakes and as you mention the region is on sedimentary rock which transmits shockwaves much firther  A large quake like the one over centuries ago would pretty much flatten cities in the immediate area while causing serious damage as far north as Chicago and Milwaukee and to the east as Cincinnati.

  • Daz Central is going away. As a Daz Central user what does this require of me?

    Hi,

I also have a question, do we need to go on the Daz 3d website and download the daz install manager or reinstall the desk studio software from the website? and also would the DIM replace the daz central automatically after install or is that something we'll have to uninstall ourselves?

  • Installed content not loading?

The Two folders in Animals are asking for trouble - you have ensted cotnent directories, which will confues DS when it os working out what relative path to use for pointing to files within those folders.

I see that you are working online - it is possible that you had, and have somehow lost, Connect (through Daz Studio itself) installations as well as the ones made with Install Manager or Daz Central. Find the product container for the problem set, right-click on it, and if it says Uninstall do so (if it says install leave it be if you want to use DIM, if it says neither you probably are not clicking on the container).

  • Daz Central Ending - New Enhanced Install Manager

This may be a dumb question, but can Daz Central still be used just to display the icons for Installed products? I understand that it can't be used for downloading and installing, but it displays icons for the products that are much larger and easier to see that the new DIM does. Especially for those of us with less than perfect eyesight. So if I use DIM for download and install of products going forward, can I use Daz Central to view what content I have?

I just upgraded from 4.21 and suddenly I can't render anything. It just crashes. I've got a 4090 with the last drivers and scenes I could easily render last week automatically crash now. Most of them, if not all, are multi-character scenes. I'm actually running some quick tests with just one character and they work ok, but it can't possibly be a memory issue. What's going on?

Do they have hair from Out of touch, or using the out of Touch hair shader (which I think is from Renderosity)? There is an issue with the sahder, updated in some but not all products, where it has a map assigned to the Transmitted Colour property. Try reinstalling a recent hair of theirs that uses their custom shader and, if you use DIM, Daz Central, or manually install, that should update the shared file that has the problem (as long as there isn't a nother, older version in a different content  directory). You can also select the hairs and in the  Surfaces pane's Editor tab do the same, then find Transmitted Colour (most easily by typing transm in the filter box), click the icon to the left of the colour picker to get the image menu, and click None.

    Thanks! It worked!
