Having another go at this - am I right in thinking Daz Central and Daz Install manager enable you to do the same thing?

(ie optionally download daz products)

I'm not sure which to use?

There is also a script within Cinema4D which will open the file automatically without having to go to the temporary folder to locate file and import as an FBX. I lean't about this when I reinstalled Central and my previous problems seemed to have been ironed out there as well.

Terra Nova has no download links in Product Library

Terra Nova install types is still marked as Daz Central only. This needs to be fixed.

The "OPEN" button in Daz Central seems to be broken. I can't even open Daz Studios... 

yeah, I used DIM but my point is should be a download for Daz studio available on-site, but download Daz studio page has you download Daz central first, then use that to download Daz studio.

Don't see the sense of that, allow people the choice of downloading Daz studio directly from the site or use DIM or use Daz Central.

variety of options is a great thing, especially since Daz central doesn't appear to be very popular, not something I plan to ever use.

@RangerRick, thanks for the alert. I just took Terra Nova out of my cart. No way I am going near Daz Central, nor wait for it to get fixed. Added the expression pack in the cart to make the 4 add-ons. Lower price now too.

@memcneil70. I didn't mean to imply it's supposed to be that way. I believe it's a mistake that will be fixed. It's in my cart and I'll check again after I get back from buying groceries. :-)

It's always a mistake. For some reason the system lists Daz Central if the install files aren't there. If the files were there DIM and Central use the same files, so anything Daz Central can download, DIM can too.

I found one thing that I might have done wrong (or maybe not ideal). Some of the content I installed directly into the DAZ Library path rather than my local library. Sorry, I'm not sure of the DAZ terms for these. I have two directories:

1. c:\Daz 3D\Applications\data\DAZ 3D\My DAZ 3D Library\
2. c:\user\michael\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\

All of the stuff DIM installs goes into the first. I extracted some of the zip files into the first also, but now I'm wondering if I should have put it in the second instead. 

Also, either DIM or Daz Central will continuously create shortcuts on my desktop. Do these programs attempt to validate the install and could deleting the desktop shortcut trigger a reinstall? I just now found the checkbox in DIM to disable that, so maybe that part will go away now.

So recently had some issues with my computer which led to me having to reinstall everything Daz related, not too big a thing, as setting up a fresh Daz every now and again isn't a bad thing to do.

However, I come to the site and find that there is no direct link for downloading Daz studio? like what the hell?

I assume I have not missed a direct link somewhere?

I go to the page to download Daz and told to download Daz Central.........nope, no interest in that, am happy with Daz Install Manager. I just want to download daz studio, then install DIM and so forth. 

It appears like you trying to force Daz Central on to people but when I tried it, it kept going to 79% when downloading Daz Studio, then jump back to 71% every time it hit 79%, seemed the program downloaded but wasn't on my main drive, which is where I wanted to install it.

As this saying goes, if it's not broke, don't fix it, Daz install manager is fine.

Overall point, please keep a direct download link for Daz Studio without having to download Daz Central, not everyone is going want to download Central.

I'm new to Daz Studio and I'm trying to install Genesis 3 female. I thought I should install the "Genesis 3 Starter Essentials" from Daz Central but after doing that I can see that I only have the Genesis 3 Male figure but not the female.

Do you know if I am doing something wrong or if I should install some other package?

Is there anyway to download Daz Studio without having to install the Daz Central? I don't want to install Daz Central on my computer I had a bad experience with it in the past.

My Daz Studio seems to be broken. For some reason everytime I open it all my preference settings get removed and it acts like a fresh install. The only good thing is my smart content is still there, but my favorite menu and my interface keeps reseting to default.

The problem having is that daz central no longer recognizes my login, info even after password resets

Have you tried going directly to the page, while logged in to the site, rather than using the link from Install manager/Daz Central https://www.daz3d.com/eula ? That works for soem who are having issues.

I made the RorrKonn_Props and RorrKonn_Textures folders to keep my stuff organized .I would guess that's why a lot of Pa's make them that way .Whats PA stand for ?

So I put the bowl in there and it works.

I spent most the day trying to unsuccessfully reset DAZ.So I didn't get to Smart content yet 

But I do get I just need data,props,runtime in any folder anywhere on the PC as long as DAZ sees the folder ,right ?

I'm going to go check my self in to gotham asylum now .

 

PAs are Published Artists - the term used for Daz3D vendors. 

And yeah, you can name your Daz Library anything you want, and (as far as I know) put it anywhere you want - as long as you point Daz Studio at it so that it knows where the content is.

I would recommend using DIM for the installs but that's just a personal preference. Many people like to manually install and I think some use the new Daz Central.

Don't stress it too much, 3D art is meant to be fun. :D Take it easy and just work on it when you feel up to it, don't let yourself get to stressed. 

Bok Tower might be one of the only things that could get me back into Florida. The mosaics are glorious but that door is just amazing. I have no idea who polishes it but that is an awful lot of brass for that much humidity.

But its not all limestone. That's almost all marble. The pink stone is Etowah marble from Etowah GA and the gray stone is from a different marble quarry in GA. The tan stone is limestone from FL.

If for some reason you must go to central Florida, I know Orlando and kids, Drive down to Polk county and see this place. The guy who designed the park around it is world renowned for his work and this might be his best work. It is simply astonishingly beautiful. If you can catch a performance by the carillon bells you will not regret it, assuming you survive the mosquitoes.

Cape Canaveral Monsters? I like bad Atomic era sci fi movies and have never heard of that one it most be utter trash. Will have to look into it.

...there's very little that would ever get me to want to go back to Florida, and I am "old fart" as well.  Only been there once and that was enough to convince me (particularly the bad motorists). to never want to return.

My Daz Central was working this morning but all of the sudden it closed and now the DazCentral.exe file is missing. I tried uninstalling, then reinstalling but I get the same message. Anyone else having this issue?
