  • G8F Morph Creation Issues (ZBrush and GoZ). Please Help!

I'm new at content creation and I've run into a few issues trying to make a morph for G8F in ZBrush.  I didn't encounter any issues during the sculpting, but when I tried to use GoZ to put the morph back into daz studio, it doesn't allow the option of 'update an existing object,' which best I can figure, is the way the bridge between the two programs makes the morph, seeing as 'create a new object', the only option it is allowing, doesn't do anything but exactly what it says and create an object.  Since that failed, I tried exporting the changes directly from ZBrush as an object and making the morph via morph loader pro.   When I did that, I got an error message saying 'Warning: Geometry did not match, failed to create morph.'  So, I'm guessing that the problem was either with what I did when I initially sent G8F to ZBrush, or, one or more of the brushes I used created or deleted vertices.  When I sent G8F to ZBrush, I first deleted the seperate eyelash model that loads with G8F in Daz, but didn't do anything else before sending it.  Did I do something wrong there?  When doing the actual sculpting, the brushes I used were, in no particular order, FormSoft, Inflate, Move, Magnify and Smooth.  I may have also used Elastic, I can't quite recall.  Do any of these change vertice order?  If not, does anyone have any ideas for where else I might have gone wrong?  Thanks in advance!

  • G8F loading with a funky face

Thanks, i too got this problem and now found that the "Demona" head morph is always at 100%, I tried to deinstall and re-install the Genesis 8 female starter kit but it is still active (2017-11-11).

Would be nice that DAZ gives us an update (or a tip which .duf-file should be edited).

I noticed that too and was actually hoping for a 3D marijuana plant. I think it would be very useful for future art, especially after it becomes legal here in California on January 1. I hope a PA really does create a "pot" plant LOL.

There was a free morph somewhere for LisaB's Coleus plant.

Oh, thanks! I have that and when I did a search for the freebie, it led right to your post in another forum with the link on shareGC.  laugh  Which is here if anyone wants it: http://www.sharecg.com/v/38610/gallery/21/DAZ-Studio/Cannabis-Sativa-240?interstitial_displayed=Yes

  • Transferring expressions from G2F to G3F

Yeah, I was hoping somebody had braved the waters before me and had some suggestions, but, onwards to adventure! Thanks, notheless.

Edit: After a bit of tinkering, here are my registered findings, compiled for the sake of future generations. Transferring a morph with the same name doesn't break anything, as Studio is able to diferentiate between them. The problem is that the pose preset doesn't recognize it, I guess it may be able to if I start moving things around, but then I risk causing the kind of errors I wanted to avoid. There's a much safer, though laborious, alternative: load the expression preset you want, right click on GenX and tell it to load current figure values, right-click and select "transfer: on for non-zero values" and transfer as a single morph. You'll need to do it for every single expression, which is a pain, but it's possible. Maybe someone with a bit of scripting knowledge can automate the task, but lesser mortals will have to contend with the tedium of rinse and repeat.

Cool - that's an interesting way to transfer the expressions. I'm glad to see you found a way (even if it's a bit tedius to do it that way). Maybe you can just do a handful of your favorites. :)

  • Problem about teeth

If I recall correctly, that happens when the mouth HD is dialed up when transferring a morph.

And how I can fix it? O.o
I mean, when I set the Resolution Level to base and SubDivision Level to 0 how I can do the same for the mouth?
Or is there a dial HD for the mouth I didn't see?

Oooh... I really like the dunes - even better, it's so timely for me. I've got a scene rendering that uses a winter Easy Environments with a skybox. I really just wanted the foreground, so I hid the skybox, but it never even occurred to me to play with it the way you did. I'm definitely going to have to experiment with it a bit!

when you transfer to boxwall surfaces to the emissive make sure you keep the shift button pressed so the original maps won't get lost. You then still need to put the respective side image into the emissive colour channel, it doesn't do that by itself. I turned the emission temperature to 5000 ( daysky light ) and the luminance to 5000 cd/m2. But depending on your set there might be other settings more useful. I only have this one set yet.

Thanks for the details! I'll share results of my experiments when I get to them, too.

  • Isimple Shader System Tutorial Videos [Commercial]

I cooked up a base skin (Iskin) and base hair (Ihair) shader using the conventions I established with Isimple (so if you watched the videos alot of the parameter information will transfer over). If you put these on a new surface they will come in with some good generic starting settings, however if you use them on a existing surface they will simplify the settings to only what is relevant and keep existing textures and settings where possible -- in this way these can be used as converters for 3Delight or older Iray materials.

Here is a dropbox link to the files, just unzip into your "My DAZ 3D Library" folder.

One tip for Iskin: in the Diffuse Overlay Weight slot you want to load a transparent PNG (for makeups, eyebrows, etc.) and afterwards edit the image settings to get the Grayscale From Alpha (this will get the transparency from the Alpha channel but keep the color from the RGB channels, which allows you to only load the texture once, instead of twice like you have to in the Iray Uber Base, which can save some time and clicks during setup).

If you haven't purchased Isimple yet, please consider doing so if you find these variations helpful. As always, you are encouraged to use these shaders for your commercial (or non-commercial) products and there are no license restriction for doing so -- also (as always) there is no need for the end-user to have these shaders installed as they are based on the Iray Uber Shader.

Thanks so much for the skin and hair freebie.  I have been asked this all over the place and while I've read up on all I can and used advice from those that knew something more than I the volume on certain hair props remains bad when rendered.  The hair will render very very thin looking so if your saving out the image as a PNG then you have these unwanted transparent gaps.  Not like real hair but like the cut out map isn't set up correctly or something for iRAY... even using the advice of upping the cut out map doesn't seem to work.  One of my favorite hairs to use is the Timeless hair from Goldtassel for allot of my testing as it's a nice looking, natural hair prop that is out of the way but adds that finish but from a straight on shot the sides just don't render out properl as there are ugly gaps where there was no volume in the hair in those areas but turn the head slightly and it renders fine.  When doing promo's where you want the face straight forward to show off makeup or facial hair options (males) and you have that issue crop up it's no fun to feel like you have to bother folks with constant "HELP ME" posts!  lol

    Thank you!

  • Problem about teeth

    Hi to everyone.
I needed to transfer the morph of a character from G3M to G8M, so I followed this tutorial:
    https://sickleyield.deviantart.com/journal/Tutorial-Transferring-Character-Morphs-G1G2G3G8-409437916
It is very good, she has been very kind when I wrote to her to ask something and the model is almost perfect. Not even the eyes had some distortion.

But now I have just a little new problem.
As you can see in the pic, the teeth are... deformed? They look like rounded and smaller and I don't know what I should to do to fix this problem...

    Can someone help me?

  • G8F loading with a funky face
@Richard Haseltine - the fact that these wrong default activated morphs are not shown under "Currently used" is definately a bug that should be fixed - of course (if I already know the general problem) I can look in the character parameter menu whether there is any morph activated which should not be. But if you have a very huge library, as I do, with many transferred morphs from former generations - then you can search for several minutes or longer... I cannot understand what's the difference between a morph I dialed in intentionally and a morph which is dialed in unintentionally by a buggy character *.duf file - both should be visible under "Currently used".

Non-zero* values should appear under Currently Used, assuming you are using a non-ancient version of DS, regardless of their default values.

    * or, for scales, values other than 100%.

  • Export to fbx. issues

the joint controlled morphs do not export with the animation or pose

you would need to export them bakedto the timeline to dial in or as an obj file to load, also FBX is only base resolution so no HD morphs work and an obj export would need to also be base resolution to load as a morph.

Depending on which software you are exporting to there are ways to get around this such as mdd or abc export the first need the alembic exporter https://www.daz3d.com/alembic-exporter-for-daz-studio

    the latter AniMate2 https://www.daz3d.com/animate2

”export them bakedto the timeline to dial in“ how to do that ?  i found 'bake to studio keyfarmes' only...

  • How to get an A3 clothing item onto G3 in 2017, by the numbers...

In addition to wear-them-all, sometimes I toss this in for good measure: Edit > Rigging > Transfer Rigging Figure Space.

SY does it in a few of her tutorials.

One day I'll learn the mysteries of the Edit and Assets menu. Until then, I tend to sprinkle it around like fairy dust and hope the clothing follows better. :)
