Genesis 8.1 / Victoria 8.1
I tried the update meipe put on the forum, worked with Victoria 8.1 at least. Don't have any other 8.1 girls installed to try. Wiped out my whole G8 directory and starting from scratch again lol. Amazing having g8 load in less than a second lol, because I only have a few things installed at the moment.

Thank you for the discount! Love the eyes and the options are awesome!!
Beautiful pic - would you kindly share info on the model and texture used?
Eyes look wonderful as well - on my wishlist... ;-)Thank you! Model is Victoria 8.1 with her default textures.
Victoria 8.1 is a nightmare for modelers/PAs!While this new venture into her asymmetrical morph is great for realism, it is a nightmare for modelers/PAs that want to specifically model victoria's 8.1 limbs/right/left side as the GOZ/morph loader morph mirroring: swap feature in the import dialogue is rendered useless as the right/left side of her body doesn't match!
This setback is a step backward towards the crappy V4 era where you had to morph each body part separately up until Genesis 1 came around, which was a modeler's dream come true as you could model the entire body at once rather than by pieces!
If anyone/modelers//PAs has a work-around I'd love to hear it!

Victoria does not need to be symetrical, she is a character based on Genesis 8 Female.
Genesis 8 Female is the base figure, which has to be symetrical. So if you are creating morphs, clothes, hair, geo grafts or any other add ons, use the Genesis 8 Female base, not Victoria 8.While this new venture into her asymmetrical morph is great for realism, it is a nightmare for modelers that want to specifically model victoria's 8.1 limbs as the GOZ swap feature in the import dialogue is rendered useless as the right/left side of her body doesn't match!

I assume Victoria 8.1F shape can be applied to the Genesis 8 Basic Female, but I haven't tried that.
No, at least not directly.
G8.1F automatically loads morphs installed in both G8F and G8.1F data folders, so G8.1F can use G8F morphs (in DS4.15, at least). However G8F doesn't load morphs from G8.1F data folders, only the G8F ones. V8.1 morph files are located in G8.1F data folder, so your G8F figure doesn't see that morph and can't use it.
It might be possible to get it to work by copying or moving the needed files to the G8F data folder, and maybe editing some of the data files.

How does Kii'Na work being both G8 and G8.1? Does it have separate entries for both? It's only showing a single Apply.
G8 and G8.1 have identical geometries, so a shape morph can be applied to either. I assume Victoria 8.1F shape can be applied to the Genesis 8 Basic Female, but I haven't tried that. Materials are different but there seems to be some fix-up code in Daz 4.15 that will put G8 torso materials on the correct G8.1 surfaces.
There's only 1 MAT according to the product description, though that could be incorrect since product descriptions for the features rarely match what you're actually getting. But if this a character that has a single geometry and a single MAT then it's G8, not 8.1 and this is a further example of ambiguous products between G8 and G8.1 not being specified correctly by either the PA or Daz QA. Customers could be expecting the character to have G8.1 materials.
genesis 8.1 female / male iris facetingI always thought the previous bases were rather nice and these use some of their textures but those eyes are terrible
while one expects Victoria and Micheal to be better that is no excuse for that polygonal eye map
even Microsoft paint can draw a circle

All Generations before Genesis where modelled from one base, the female model. DAZ stopped with Genesis 2 and later as it was difficult to get the male pectorals to look and move well.
Not exactly. Victoria and Michael 1/2 were separate mesh, the "unimesh" concet started with M3/V3.
And Genesis 2 Male and Female are the same mesh, it's Genesis 3 which went back to different meshes.

And that he implies that the 8.1 lime will be mostly of "new" characters and not repeats like Victoria and Michael.
That's a good point, and at least somewhat promising for the future.
So, now I'll just wait for Cat 8.1 and Lilith 8.1, instead of Cat 8 and Lilith 8.
I wouldn't hold my breath for Lilith 8.1. I think that demon girl shown in one of the promo images, might be the next "matching" figure and I have doubts she'd be called Lilith. I don't like her horns either (I have Tara 2, and it's hard to compete with that quality character IMO) but those don't look too familiar.

Torment 8.1Not impressed with this release. Not sure if it's because the products are all uninteresting to me or that they thought it was a tasteful/good idea to release a demon character on Ash Wednesday. (I find it disrespectful.) Only positives I see is that at least the human form has normal teeth, unlike Damien Demon for G3M. And that he implies that the 8.1 lime will be mostly of "new" characters and not repeats like Victoria and Michael.Genesis: The Early YearsExample: In the video I posted above, Rosie 5.5's medieval impractical armor consists of:
Genesis 1 -
- Age of Armour's Executioner wrist wraps (underlament for forearm armor mentioned below)
Victoria 4 -
- Alpha Seed (Aeon Soul)'s Sisterhood Forearm Armor
- Aery Soul (Aeon Soul)'s Liltsure Hair hairband
- 4blueyes' Elf Light Panty
Victoria 3 -
- Awful Soul (Aeon Soul)'s Platina Armor (metal bikini w/shoulder armor)
Michael 3 -
- Luthbel's Wildenlander Wild Hunt boots
Genesis 8 -
- Linday's dForce Classic Long and Curly Hair
Her head is based on Ysabeau 6 with tidbits of The Girl 6 and Keiko 6 along with other morphs from Generations 4, 5 and 6
Her body is Gia 6, Keiko 6 and a whole bunch of other Genesis 2 Female and Genesis 1 shaping morphs
Her skin textures are V4 Elite - Reby Sky
She has expression morphs from generations 4, 5 and 6
Female characters not loadingHello Everyone,
For clarity, let me explain my issue. Everything worked perfectly with me have an exact copy of My DAZ 3D Library folder from the old hard drive until I upgraded Daz Studio from 4.12 to 4.15. Previously I had the My DAZ 3D Library folder located on an external hard drive connected using the Content Directory Manager with no issues. For some reason, Genesis 8 female characters no longer will load into the workspace since upgrading. Not sure if it is because of Genesis 8.1 female, but if I want to load any Genesis 8 female character, the external My DAZ 3D Library folder must be removed from the Content Directory Manager. Only Genesis 8 female, 8.1 female from the C: drive and created female characters will load up in the workspace when the external My DAZ 3D Library folder is removed. The problem is when My DAZ 3D Library folder is re-connected. I don't have access to the data, such as shapes and morphs for my characters. Yes, I have the basic Genesis 8 female installed in both the C: and F: drive My DAZ 3D Library folders to access 8.1 female characters because I plan to purchase Victoria 8.1.

There's something I'm really not sure about.
With the new character Pandora from Mousso, I noticed that Mouth Realism HD was set to 100% and Mouth Realism 8.1 HD was also set to 100%. Are both suppsosed to be at 100% or should only the 8.1 dial be set to max?
Victoria 8.1 also loads with both, so I assume it's intended. The 8.1 version dials in other by default, and they do slightly different things.
Though make sure the mouth is open otherwise any difference is invisible (as it only affects inside the mouth).

Loads Elysa and LY Rory and a bunch of modifier morphs => the Genesis 8 Base Figure is still loading characters and morphs with non-zero default value.
Since you have DAZ "base figures" having problems with base expressions, your Starter Essentials are not properly installed
Edit; When doing the procedure for zeroing the default values of morphs and characters, I remembered DS gives you a "Are you sure" type of warning, did you tell DS to do it anyways?
MetaHuman Creator - an Insane Level of Competition...So here it is, the beginning of the end. You might think this is just being dramatic, but no.
I have been talking for YEARS about video game engines becoming the one true threat to Daz3D. Years. Then when Epic bought Quixel I told you guys back then it was only a matter of time before Epic made a platform for creating humans. It matters because it is Epic. Daz could have been that company. You guys say that Daz has built a successful slice of this business...Daz is practically pocket change compared to Epic. When Epic does something, people pay attention. That is why they are a threat. Even if Metahuman is not quite as robust as Genesis, it does not have to be, because it is backed by Epic and a part of their Unreal Engine. I cannot stress that point enough. Anybody who is new to 3D and looking to get started might be looking at Daz, well now they might be looking at Unreal and Metahuman. Many people know what Epic is, but most people do not know what Daz is.
I do find it it quite amusing that Tafi started selling 3d models again, after a long absence trying to chase VR. But IMO Metahuman has already won. The Tafi models are not material optimized for the game engine! Look it up, "Shader Set: Uses the Daz3D Shader Set". That means you need to figure it out yourself. Plus Tafi models only have 32,000 tris, which honestly is kind of pitiful by modern standards. You can see just how low res Tafi models are in the screen shots. Meanwhile Metahuman is already built around Unreal, and we can see the results. Oh, and we can see the results in real time I might add. Not after several minutes...or maybe an hour. Or several hours. Nope, in freakin' real time. These models can breath in front of you in your monitor in real time. (Whoa that sounds creepy).
Of course, this is only just the start. This has not even fully released yet, people. So obviously there will be some issues in the beginning. They will get worked out.
Lets address some comments.
-This is for video games!- -This is not marketed to the same people as Daz!-
Well it can be for games, but it doesn't have to be. These are 3D assets like Genesis assets. It can be for animation. It YES it can be for still renders. You guys need to understand that a video game engine is just another tool, like Daz Studio and Iray. Unreal can do whatever you want it to do provided you know how. Is that really a different market? Dude, Daz sells interactive licenses for a reason. They have Tafi for reason. Stop kidding yourselves.
Unreal also has its own content store, just like Daz. And I will bet that there will be plenty of Metahuman content available for your purchase...just like Daz Genesis. So there will be plenty of variety available to create the people you want to, just like Daz.
Of course the hardware requirements are kind of high. Daz Iray isn't exactly easy on hardware, either, not to mention Iray is restricted to Nvidia GPUs, so no AMD 6900 with 16GB for you to play with! However Unreal will run on any GPU. Plus Iray will gobble up your VRAM and completely stop rendering if you don't have enough. However a game engine is capable of spreading the load between RAM and VRAM. There is of course a performance hit, but SSDs can reduce this and the software is getting better all the time. This is a major part of the PS5 design, building a SSD that is so fast that it can function as well as RAM. We also have DDR5 to look forward to in the future. You can count on Epic Unreal to keep pace with these, it is exactly why Epic showcased Unreal 5 on a PS5 and not a PC. They demonstrated just what being able to access data quickly through SSD can do. Can we depend on Iray to keep up? Guys, Nvidia is not even building Iray in house anymore, they outsourced to 3rd parties. That is a giant red flag IMO. But you can bet that Epic is putting everything behind Unreal, because Unreal is their bread and butter...yes, even more than Fortnite. Epic was moving in this direction long before Fortnite came along, all Fortnite did was accelerate that trend.
Now Daz is not going to just die right away. But don't go thinking that Metahuman will have no impact on Daz. I already said back when Quixel launched that the clock was ticking for Daz. That clock is ticking real loud right now. When might it stop? I don't know. But you cannot ignore it. I am sure there will be diehards who stick by, just like Victoria 4 has some diehards out there. But that isn't going to be enough. Like I said above, people new to this are going to look up Epic Metahuman before they see Daz Genesis.
Daz Studio 5 needs to happen ASAP, and it needs to be really damn amazing. Anything less than that will be slow decay of their customer base. Remember that Tafi models are only 32,000 tris. And yeah, Daz's insistence on keeping HD to PAs only and away from end users is really biting them in the ass right now. Hmm, I said that would happen one day, too. <.<
We also had comments about studios building their own assets. Well yeah, of course that will continue, this will not replace that. But obviously the asset stores are doing quite well, or Epic would not have bothered doing this. Also, these things save time. That is the whole idea here. Saving time. This is the concept behind Daz Studio and its asset store, correct? After all, it is totally possible for all of you guys to build this stuff completely on your own, right? You could all do it if you wanted to. It just takes years and years of learning and creating every single thing, but you can do it.
Time is money. Especially today. People want to create, not be bogged down by long periods of just building assets. That is what these stores are for. Even game studios will be looking at these Unreal models because they can save them time...and possibly money. Outsourcing is pretty common in the industry, buying premade assets is just another form of outsourcing. They might totally custom build the main cast, but perhaps the background people can be Metahumans. Metahumans opens new doors to people, it lowers the bar of entry in a way that Daz Studio did for the past 20 years. Now it is Metahuman's time.
genesis 8.1 female / male iris facetingTypically, the stock Genesis figures surfaces and even shapes are not spectacular. I don't think they're really supposed to be either. They used to just give away Victoria too, not the pro bundle, just the base figure. Kind of an advertisement for how much more amazing the figures you have to buy would be. I feel like i remember way back getting MIchael, Stephanie, and an early version of Aiko even. I've always thought of Genesis as the generic base form to start modifying shapes and textures from. Clearly if they wanted to make it great they could, just look at victoria, or any of the other DAZ originals, but in the end wouldn't that actually make it more difficult to model and texture an amazing character?
Fun fact: Stephanie was originally modeled on the male figure base before Genesis One had all figures made from the same base.
Auto Muscle Enhancer HD [Commercial]Nice inspirational work there Lee!!
So this is the G8.1F platform with the full Victoria 8.1 HD textures applied along with the full body vellus hair. This is Kitty Pryde converted from an X-Men video game. I thought if she works out with Wolverine, she naturally would need some AME/ASE treatment. This is D.Masters AME body (at 40%) with his Bicep and Bicep Flex morphs ported onto the G8.1F. I used the Musculature HD Alt Flex tools at 16%, with D.Masters bicep morphs, carefully ERC scaled. The AME body details are provided by the Massive HD, and an additional fine tuned bicep morph by yours truly! The trick is in the hand flex like D.Master does it. Full hand flex in tunes the bicep head only, and hand flex'd out adds Tricep morphs and tunes out about 1/2 of the D.Master bicep morphs. A little tricky, as I have been working on iterations like this for a while, and this is as close I have gotten to simulating AME on the G8.1 and G8F platforms (arms only) the rest of the muscle flexing is provided by the other product. There was no touchup to any morph or body part required after changing the poses, that, makes me Happy !! This makes clothes and costume fitting Soooooooo much easier! TD

You need to reset your database then it will be named correctly
