Support folder?
Putting content in the program Files folder, if you are using Windows 7 or Vista, can be a big problem. Poser 9 shouldd efault to placing content in the documents folder, though you cana lso place it elsewhere or add additional folders of course. The folder it is looking for is \Runtime\Libraries\!DAZ\Michael 4
Help!! - Do these morphs exist in the standard Daz Studio 4 package?HI schoolstrikemalaysia
Welcome :)
Morphs are part of the Model, rather than part5 of the Program you use the model in.
The Morphs for a model are normally located in the "Parameters" panel on the right hand side,. but with the Genesis figure (included with Daz Studio 4) they're also accessible through the "shaping" tab on the left hand side.
There should be some Basic morphs included in genesis to adjust the face, like "Eyes closed" to create blinking etc, and "mouth open"
there should also be some Body morphs to change the shape of the figure from basic Male to basic Female, but by adding new "Characters" like Victoria-5 , Micharel-5, the Troll, Gorilla, Anubis, etc... then you add all of those character combinations into your Genesis figure, and that gives you many more options.
There are also specific Face and Body morph expansion packs fr Genesis, but the Morphs++ packs are only for Victoria 4, and Michael 4, which are different base figures.
Hope it helps :)Support folder?I loaded Mike 4 in DS 4 and got a critical error message that "Michael 4 " support folder could not be found. Checked my preferences for content folders and they're all present and accounted for. What does this mean and how do i fix it?

I did Genesis - didn't try M4 .
I just did it as is - no smooth or reduce polygon count .
you should reduce polygon count - I was doing a test to see how it would work .just tryed baby3 - worked fine - big polygon count 132,000 - so M4 should work

Characters in period costumesGood grief, you guys do know how to befuddle a simple answer.
Kerry it's very simple. There are two scenarios we need to look at. First scenario assumes you will not be distributing your CAD scene but a render. If this is the case then you have nothing to worry about. However, if you do need to distribute the actual scene file then you will not be able to use DAZ figures and clothing as you are not permitted to distribute the actual meshes, no matter what format it was converted to.
For a render scenario you would need to check what base figures the clothing you do decide to use were made for. You would then need to purchase those figures as well as the clothing items you need. Most of the clothing will be for Victoria 4.2, Michael 4 and Genesis. You might also want to get some morph packs for your figures to add some variety as well as some hair and character presets. All of these can be bought from the store. You can then use DAZ Studio to load the figures, add the clothing and pose them. When you are happy with the result you can export the complete scene in Wavefront Object (.obj) format and import into 3DS Max to convert to CAD format or import directly into CAD if it can import Wavefront Object files. You can also export to FBX format but the results may vary as the FBX exporter is not complete.
Unfortunately this is not going to be a quick fix and it's going to cost you a rather substantial amount of money. I would not suggest this route for a once off project. I would rather suggest looking at DOSCH, Turbosquid or similar sites for a one time project. However, if you do find yourself needing characters regularly then DAZ Studio and figures will be a good investment in the long run.
I hope this clears up the confusion.
Starting out in DazOh, one more thing: if your budget allows, you can get the most bang for the buck by getting one or more of the Pro Suites:
http://www.daz3d.com/shop/victoria-5-3d-model-pro-suite
http://www.daz3d.com/shop/michael-5-3d-model-pro-suite
http://www.daz3d.com/shop/victoria-4-3d-model-pro-suite
http://www.daz3d.com/shop/michael-4-3d-model-pro-suite
http://www.daz3d.com/shop/supersuit-pro-suite
The V5 and M5 Pro Suites both contain the Genesis Starter Bundle I mentioned. The other Pro Suites are the V4, M4, and SuperSuit Pro Suites. If I had to pick one, I'd pick the M5 Pro Suite (most of the included clothing and hairstyles would be excellent for any Genesis character, including women).Starting out in DazIn the old forum, I started a thread asking people for their ten favorite products. There were a number of interesting responses, and among other things there are various starter bundles mentioned. I think the number one product to look at (if you are/will be a Genesis user) is the Genesis Starter Bundle.
Here's a link to the thread: http://forumarchive.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=190222
One more thing which is important to understand (and a little confusing for new users, as I know from my own experience) is that most of the 3rd Generation figures (Victoria 3, Michael 3, etc.) and 4th Generation figures (Victoria 4, Michael 4, etc.) are ALSO available as shapes for Genesis...basically making Genesis look like the older figure. There are various reasons why you might want to do this...but it's definitely not essential and as a new user you might not want to worry too much about it for now. The key point here is that there are: older figures like V4, Genesis "legacy" shapes like V4 for Genesis, and newer Genesis-only characters like V5.
At some point you might want to know whether products made for older characters are compatible with Genesis...that's a complicated question, but the short answer is that textures for V4 and M4 work fine on Genesis, clothing for V4 and M4 works on Genesis but with some limitations, clothing for other figures will work on Genesis if you own the equivalent Genesis legacy shape (but with some limitations), and other products for older figures probably won't work on Genesis without purchasing additional things to make them work.
Hope this is helpful!White skin for males?Miss Bad Wolf said:I am trying to find that but now I am getting page not found or problem loading page or something like that. Characters in period costumesHi kerrychivers
It's less of a question of How much it would cost , rather than,.. is there someone with 3D-Max, Daz Studio, or Poser, and the clothing who also has the free time to do this for you.
The next part is a legal issue of the "licence to use the products",
Unless you buy the Models (clothing is also a model) then you don't have a Licence to use them. in any software, and so, someone else can't put it together and send it to you.Poser Pro (if I remember correctly) Has a Link to 3D Max, which means that you can create a scene in poser pro with the 3D human model, and it's clothing ,.. then send it to 3D Max to render.
Poser also comes with a Bunch on models and clothing,. and 99% of the Daz3d models and clothing sold in the store here will load into poser.Daz Studio comes with the new Genesis figure, which is different from previous figures, like Victoria 4 and Michael 4. (which will both work in Poser.
Victoria 4 and Michael 4, are also supplied is OBJ format which can be loaded into 3D Max, although, you would then need to load in and adjust all of the texture maps for the figures to make them look better in 3D Max.
You'd also need to rig that 3D model with a Max "Biped" and skin it to work correctly,..One main advantage of Daz Studio that you'd loose by importing and re-rigging the figure in 3D-Max, is the ability to have the clothing automatically conform (Fit to) the figure, and move along with it.
Daz Studio allows you to load the Model , Add the clothing (fit it to the figure), add hair, easily change the skin textures, clothing textures, or hair textures, and then animate it using simple to use tools, or pre-built (customisable) Motion capture animations.A lot of the work you need to do, depends on what you actually want to do,. if it's a still render, then that could be done in Daz Studio.
If it's an animation you can also do that, and render it out with a transparent background, then composite that into a 3D Max Background. My advice is to download the Daz Studio 4 software, while it's still available for free,.
then play with it,. see what it does, and see if it's possible to do what you want to do without having to jump through a load of Hoops to get it into 3D Max.There's also Daz Carrara, which is similar in many ways to 3D Max, It's a Full 3D modelling texturing animation and rendering program, but it can use Daz3D and Poser Models in the same way as Daz Studio or Poser do. you may want to have a look at that too.
there's a 30 day (Full PRO version) available on www.Download.comHope it helps.

Seeking Your AdviceScott-Livingston said:I'm definitely interested in this product. In order from most preferred to least preferred: M5, V5, M5 Heroic, Basic Male, Basic Female, M4, V4, V5 Supermodel. I think those are the main ones. Others I'd like to see are D3, A3, H3, Basic Child. I don't own the F4 shape, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to use that one too (I do own F3 for Genesis, but it's not a high priority for me).HI Scott. I'm probably going to split the female shapes from the males shapes and do a re-tooling of In Her Defense as a separate product, much like I'm doing for the Long Sword Poses for Michael 4. It's my contention that men and women carry themselves differently, and this definitely includes wielding a heavy sword! Lol.
If it were up to me, I'd include poses for all the male shapes (for this set), but as I'm already up to 28 single stance poses and 5 dueling vignettes (10 poses total), and a bunch of partial poses and expressions and two sword props (and I'm adding more as time goes by) - just for the Genesis base/basic male shape. I don't want to price this set completely out of everyone's reach, which would happen if I included ALL the Genesis shapes possible - and that wouldn't be good for any of us. Lol. I figure two or three more shapes and that makes the product both useful and a bargain.
And, since you mentioned the Basic Child, I might even consider re-tooling A Page's Life just for you. (Insert a winking smiley here. I'm protesting the current forum smileys at the moment.) I'm surprised it didn't do as well as the other sets. I mean, it has a sword pell. A sword pell! (For those of you who are reading - a sword pell is a practice device for sword drills. I made a morph so that it would go from brand new to all chopped up. Oh well...guess I didn't market it very well. But, I digress. I'll just make a better, fancier one for the re-tooled set - and because SnowSultan has been asking me for one.)
I do appreciate the time everyone has taken to respond and give me input. It's very helpful for me to know what you all, the customers, are looking for, so that I can fine tune my products. Keep letting me know!adamr001s tutorials and freebies indexAdded two new DS Material Preset Freebies:

A noble and generous 3D content company issued a challenge. Members and guests were invited to seek examples of the company's products in use, a quest that stretched to the ends of the earth. Soon (that is soon soon), the challenge was answered with sightings of products used in print, web, games, mobile apps, television, outdoor displays, research, military, medical, education, feature films. Even the lords of the company were surprised by some of them. Every year or so, one of the lords would appear to review the sightings, and select the significant ones for induction into the hall of fame. Handsome rewards were granted to the discoverers, and the land rejoiced.
But the time came when the company made a decree. The forums had become unsustainable, and all would have to migrate to a new realm. The change was difficult. The people were speechless at first, unable to search, their faces unrecognizable. They had problems displaying their pictures, and links to the old knowledge were feeble at best. The masters of the web strove mightily to build a foundation of stability and find a new normal, but everyone knew it would never be the same.
One day a lowly disciple stepped forth. He had not forgotten the ways of the old realm, and wondered if they would ever be restored. He approached the company citadel, asking himself whether anyone within its towers still upheld the call for product sightings. He decided to make his first message in the new realm one of discovery. As he lay his sighting upon the great stone of offering, the question echoed in his mind, "Will I know the answer soon...soon...soon...?"
