He sighted several sci-fi models on their free tour, including Vanguard and Dracons Wake Dropship. A game, a diversion, a small venture into fantasy as the days ground inexorably onward...

I was able to get it to work by not having any figures selected when I brought the clothes in. What I was doing wrong was having Genesis already selected. By having nothing selected, I was able to manually fit the clothes as suggested, and in that instance Michael 4 was in the list. Thanks to all who replied :)

I'm trying to convert some M4 stuff to Genesis, and Auto-Fit isn't even giving me the option for Michael 4 as the original target figure, like it normally does. Is there a metafile somewhere I can create or edit to fix that?

I know, but I exported an altered, morphed M4-character, not the original M4 as a .cr2 file: I loaded M4 base, added ++ and some other morphs, then added an M4 character preset that I've purchased, and exported the whole "mixture".

Unfortunately, it doesn't work. When I dialed the morph, which is in - - , to -1 or to +1, there only were slight changes to that "strange" face.

I fear you are totally right, but I wonder how this could have happened.

As I understand it,.. The gen X plugin, will transfer the morphs from Michael 4 and Victoria 4, into the Genesis figure,.
So,.. you should be able the select the Head of Genesis, and dial back the Michael 4 head morphs, and that should return it to default genesis. although,,, I don't have that product, so that's a guess.
It sound like, somewhere in the process, you've overwritten the original genesis figure with the morphed version including the M4 morphs.
I'm not sure how you would go back to that original, other than deleting all the data for genesis.
Hopefully someone with more knowledge of Daz Studio can jump in and help you.

Hi all,

after playing with 1) exporting a character for Michael 4 as .cr2 file, and 2) transferring the morphs of it to genesis with GenX, the original Genesis figure (the one that is loaded on starting DAZ Studio by default) now got the face of my Michael 4 character permanently. How is that possible? What could I have done to achieve this?

I uninstalled DAZ Studio 4 and reinstalled it, but there still was the same face on the Genesis figure. How can I get back the original Genesis to DAZ Studio?

required products doesn't make any more sense in the new store. it comes with hand poses for v/m, but they should call it something other than 'required'. what if a new poser user wanted security gear for monsters from the cupboard? i'm trying to remember what the security set up was like in Monster's Inc. tee hee, "sure, blame the guy with one EYE".

This may be a registration required thing though. The soul patch for M4 is a dead link and the Lindsey for M4 is also a dead link. Like I said, you still are within the ten freebies and you do have the trumarcar freebie required, so you are good to go. If you could fix the broken links that would be good also, if not just delete them.

Links work for me Music, on the RDNA ones

Here is what I get, the RDNA page loads fine, when I click the download button, I get an error page. This happens on both links.

Over in my freebie thread for SAV's Kouros Hair in the Freepozitory a nice person informed me there was a work around for getting hr2 hair to conform to Genesis WITH the morphs. I was very thrilled to know of this. The information this person left with me though was good for DS 4.0 but things have changed in 4.5 so I'm glad I was able to figure out where everything is! It may not be the perfect solution for all things but it DOES work. SO here is the tutorial.

1) Load up Genesis, keep Genesis selected.

.
2) Load up Hair (.hr2) or prop (.pp2) (like Antennae or similar) it will then be auto parented to the correct area, ie: Head

.

note: DO NOT reposition the prop, DO NOT!

.

3) Look up at your icons on the main tool bar and look for the "bone with a band-aid" or if your more of a menu person look under Tools menu click that (Key strokes are: Alt-Shift-J, select the parented object in the Scene tab. It will become highlighted in white.

.
4) Go to the Tools Settings panel and click in the little menu box in the upper right corner of the tab, the menu will fly out. If you don't have this tab activated you can find it under: Window > Tabs > Tool Settings

You can also now access the Convert Prop to Figure through the Scene menu: Edit>Rigging>Convert Prop to Figure

.

5) Edit > Convert Prop to Figure : Leave it as it is: radio buttons clicked ON: TriAx Weight Mapping and Inherit Skeleton of Parent click Accept. The Edit > Convert Prop to Figure option can be found in the context sensitive menu on the top right corner of the Tools Setting pane/dialog.

.

Once this is done the newly boned prop will now be a figure and automatically unparented from Genesis!

.

6) Then go up to the Scene tabs fly out menu, click that and Assets> Transfer Utility and follow the steps below:
.
a: Source: Scene Item: Genesis
Item Shape: Clone, a dialog will pop up, choose Michael 4 (or Victoria 4 depending on what the prop was originally made for)

b: Target: Scene Item: converted prop name will be in the selections, select that!
Item Shape: Default (leave this setting alone for this transfer)

.

5) Projection Template: If it's a face mask, antennae I chose Hair> Short... your call....

.

Show Options, click this to expand

.
6) Leave all checked that’s checked but also check “Reverse Source Shape From Target” and “Add Smoothing Modifier”

.

7) Click: Accept and let it run.

.

Once this is finished then you need to save this out as a .duf file.

.

8) File> Save As> Support Asset fly out and choose the top most item in the menu: Figure/Prop Assets

.

9) Save dialog will come up.
a: Name the Vendor Name: (whom ever made it or your name, up to you)
b: Name the Product Name: converted Props name, no spaces or _ to connect the words if you want.
c: Leave the “Item Name” filled in as it is!

.

10) Click Accept.

.

My Antennae that I made for M4 to do a Chameleon Boy character works perfectly. All the morphs are there and resizes just fine!

I've also brought over SAV's Spartacus and Goldtassels Timeless Male Hair and both look awesome.

Please don't forget, as much as you want to move the prop into place please don't do that. Just leave it where ever it loads. It will conform perfectly. IF you do move it and it conforms like crap don't come in here and tell me I'm giving bad advice. I've tried it 10 ways to Sunday and found leaving it in place as it loads into the scene is how it's supposed to load and will conform very nicely to Genesis and work as expected.

I can't fiddle with it right now since I am at work, but how would I open a PZ2 file (say I make a walk animation in Poser 9 using Michael 4) and use it in DAZ3D? Could the animation still be applied to the Genesis figure?

So after using DAZ for awhile I decided I wanted to check out its capabilities in regards to making animation. Now, I come from Poser and I absolutely love the walk-creator which basically lets me make walking animations for characters in seconds.

However, I noticed in DAZ3D I can't really make any animations at all, no matter what I play with in the animations tab. I have DAZ3D 4 Pro. I've looked around for some guides or something regarding perhaps how to make animations with DAZ3D but... nada. At least nothing that really goes into any real depth.

Since I love the Genesis model so much, I would really, really like to make animations with DAZ3D - it kind of sucks having to go back to Michael 4 in Poser to make animations as it is much more limiting.

Does anyone have any helpful guides or links or anything about how to make animations in DAZ3D?

There really isn't a scale, but DAZ Studio measure's things in Centimeters and and you work in 1:1 scale.
Where you have to watch it is if you are bringing things in from other programs, you have to know the Units they are using to have the importer bring it in at the right size.
