I think the way the gold stars work in this sale do not incline one to buy. For example a number of today's new releases are of interest to me, and I would be tempted to pick 1 or more up, but I don't have a gold star so new releases are a lot more expensive. If I make a small purchase I will get a gold star, but not until tomorrow. I can of course pick up today's new releases tomorrow with a gold star, but then the extra 30% off the back catalogue items will not apply, as only new releases count. There are no perks at all in buying still mad releases, which is odd. Does not really encourage you to buy at all, so I wont.

I was lucky enough to serve with them when I first joined the military as they were wrapping up their careers in our service. They fought in WWII, Korea, Vietnam.

Just looked at a photo of my dad from 1950.  He was a radioman in the Navy (Pacific Fleet) and was sort of a cross between Charlie 9 and Charlie 9 Foxtrot. Tall, thin, but had thicker legs.  Mom said it was from all that running away from trouble he got into. :)

Dad served during Korea.  The photo I mentioned was from a Saturday Evening Post article when he was 20 and on shore leave in San Francisco, I think.  Will need to unearth the original magazine if I can.  My older brother served in the Navy during the Gulf Wars.  He was a Quartermaster and joined the Navy right out of high school (1974.)  He was also lean and tall.

The Lightning Deal discount is an extra 60%, it's doesn't change with the age and when Daz first introduced minimal prices, the LD discount still worked and allowed to go under the minimal price applied to this LD.

Right now, they are two sources of extra discounts that will be taken into account by the price displayed on LDs:

• the gold star (so 5, 10 or 20%)
• the Mad Artist Store / Madness Related Selections (so from 60% to 85%).

The 30% extra discount due to having a Mad New Release is only calculated once an LD and a MNR are in the cart together.

So if a LD is not part of Mad Artist Store / Madness Related Selections the base discount on a LD for a non member is 60% and if they have a gold star active, it's 62%.

For a Daz+ member it is 72% and if they have a gold star active, it's 74,8% (likely diplayed rounded at 75% in the cart).

For a Premier member it is 74% and if they have a gold star active, it's 79,2% (likely diplayed rounded at 79% in the cart which is, ding ding, exactly the level of discount that launched this whole discussion about nerfing LD).

Having said that, I do have an LD which is currently part of the Mad Artist Store 70%: it's price is under the $3 minimal price with just the 60% LD extra discount and goes under $2 with the 30% extra discount with a MNR, so I don't think Daz introduced a limit on how low a LD can get while we were not watching.

Oh... Sorry! I had those "Mad Door Prizes" products in my mind! No idea why I mixed up... You're right. LDs are a completely different thing... No idea how it's selected, if it's random or what... I usually don't check them because, unless there's another sale and discounts stack up, they're usually not that cheap... And, since they rotate all the time, I usually forget about them. It's usually when I'm closing a cart and ned to complete it with some other item to reach the token threshold, but it's rare when I find a good LD opportunity.

Lightning Deals are pulled from non Daz+ Daz Originals older than around a year (at least that what I'm observing, but due to the randomness of LDs, maybe the age threshold is lower).

They are around 16000 non Daz+ Daz Originals out of the ~22000 Daz Originals available on the store. No idea how many of them are older than one year.

Today, only ~1500 of DOs are on sale, and only a subset of these are eligible to be Lightning Deals. Each LD likely have around 1 chance out of 13-14 to be on sale, and so, able to end with a 90+ discount.

Last week-end, I think they were over 10k Daz Originals in the Mad Artist Store so likely around 2 chances out 3 for a LD to get a 90+ discount.

I think sometimes LD has crossover with the artists/categories in the active sale, boosting the discount. I'm also currently seeing 79% off for all items in Lightning Deals. (For reference, I'm currently Premier with a gold star.)

In other news, hoping for a giftcard sale soon. March Madness has been spendy so far, glad to finally get some of the rarer items on my wishlist.

The Yelow tokens do not, aside from the free starter, discount by design - and because of the way the store is coded that stops other things from getting cart-wide discounts if they are in the cart together.

I agree with RawArt that PA products will continue to outshine anything spat out by the AI and I personally will continue to support them.

That said, I haven't tried it yet but I am most intrigued by the "Famous people can be used as a reference" aspect.  I love and will continue to buy many of the PA "celebrity" morphs as they are highly skilled, detailed, and I am sure way more accurate then the AI.  But I am interested in what can be generated celebrity-wise for the simple fact that if I am looking for a particular celebrity, they most likely won't be available from the PAs unless its an A-List Mega-Star, from a wildly popular franchise, the PAs personal passion project, or some other factor that says the figure will sell well.  As it should be. But if I want a personal favorite celebrity made into a Daz morph I am left with trying Face Transfer, etc with mixed at best results (in my opinion) or hiring a 3D modeler to do it. Most of the Daz3d custom character modelers that I've seen that create good likenesses better than face transfer et all are usually a year+ out on commisions and are thus closed from taking on more. So my hope is that Yellow can recognize lesser known "famous people" or gets the ability to use a LORA file to create models from for those.

I'm sorry, not interested. Any "sale" that requires a person to have purchased within the last two days, doesn't interest me. Last year I spent a small fortune, only to be presented with coal in the Christmas December sale, so my purchases have been no where near what that have been in the past and I doubt if they will ever be more than a couple of dollars here or there going forward. I beleive sales should reward ongoing customers not just spend a dollar and get great discounts when someone spends thousands over a year and gets nothing.

btw, you can simply purchase a Gift card for $1.01 to maintain the Gold Star discount. I've only had to do that once so far, but it does work. I tried it yesterday and I maintained my full 50% discount today. Before that, my last "real" purchase was on the 28th.

Elor, when I only have one of their products in the cart, I get 20%. With a DNR, it's 44% for me (20+30%).

I do to, but they should have a 60% base discount as other recent Mad Artists Store products.

From what I just checked, Havanalibere items in the 70% selection have the correct base discount. I don't know how to link one of the Mad Artists selection with an artist pre-selected, but I saw them on Havanalibere store:
