As is, with no add ons, Genesis can use Victoria 4, Michael 4, & Kid 4 textures by switching the UV map in the surfaces tab. Genesis is defaulted to take Victoria 4 textures.3dsamm said:thanks fixmypcmike, I didnt know about Micheal 5 as its not listed on Daz Genesis product page for the listed popular figures so I assumed it wasnt.Genesis can use Gen 4 textures (V4/M4/K4), but not Gen 3 textures.im confused.. when you say 'Gen' do you mean Generation and not Genesis?
So can Genesis use Gen 4 models and textures such as V4/M4/K4 without needing a converter or any other plug in?To use M3 textures on Genesis, you would need Texture Converter 2 with the V4 and M3 plugins, which would allow you to convert the M3 texture to V4. Genesis can use Gen 4 textures (V4/M4/K4), but not Gen 3 textures.
when you say V4 and M3 plugins, what do you mean by this? as in an actual V4/M3 character model or a morph on the model?
So basically:1. Genesis can use V4 models and textures.
2. If I want to use V3 models and textures I need the 'Texture Converter 2' and the 'M3 Shape for Genesis, GenX, and the GenX Update for Gen3'.
Thanks! :P
V4/M4/K4 are also known as the Gen. (Generation) 4 figures.
To use the Gen 4 shapes, you will need V4 & M4 Shapes for Genesis & Gen 4 Iconic Shapes for Genesis; to use their morphs in Genesis, you will need Genesis Generation X as well.
With Gen 3 Iconic Shapes for Genesis & GenX AddOn Gen 3 Bundle, you can use the Gen 3 (Victoria 3, Michael 3, Aiko 3, Hiro 3, etc) shapes & morphs on Genesis.Let Us Keep You Cool with the DAZ Beat the Heat SaleThank you! http://www.daz3d.com/shop/grace-for-v4/Stephanie 4 actually has nothing to do with dark skinned characters, as such; she's a figure base herself, like Michael 4, Victoria 4, Aiko 4, etc. She's useful if you get characters that specifically call for her; her morphs are also frequently used in combination with Victoria 4 to provide scaling, since she's smaller than Victoria.
For what it's worth, I have Camielle, Chablis, Marie Elite, and Grace, and I like them all.
Question about M4/V4 Creature Creator Add Ons.[Links]
http://www.daz3d.com/shop/michael-4-creature-creator-add-ons/
http://www.daz3d.com/shop/victoria-4-2-creature-creator-add-ons/
Since these add-on packs are figures themselves, I'm wondering if they can work interchangeably between other figures (M4/V4 & Genesis), and also if the M4 & V4 versions accept the same maps?
Basically if I buy them I would prefer to use them with Genesis, since I have that Creature Creator bundle but I can't get tails or hoofs or horns from it ... Also I already have RawArt's V4 Wyldcatz bundle, which I've used on Genesis via V4 uv mapping without any issue. Realistically though, I never use V4. I use the Genesis mesh for most of my girls + creatures and the M4 mesh for most of my guys, so from that standpoint it'd probably be smarter to get the M4 Creature Creator Add Ons just in case I ever want to use them on a Gen4 character ... But if I DO buy the M4 version, will the maps I bought from RawArt work on them? And the biggest question, will the legs/tails/horn even work on Genesis? If anyone has a clue or some insight it'd be much appreciated!-Lei

Okay, if I understand it correctly, you're using auto-fit on an M4 item to use it for genesis, yes? In that case, assuming you're not using the 4.5 version of Daz Studio, all of the morphs which were on the clothing before it was converted would be gone. Closing the jacket was probably a morph on the original version of the clothing, so it would have been removed when you converted it to genesis. This is fixed in the 4.5 version of Daz Studio, but that version isn't entirely complete yet.

office suit for genesisI recall a discussion in the old forum about that same suit, and how it seemed odd that the Freak was listed as a requirement. Someone responded to confirm that the Freak is not, in fact, required to use the suit (it's more like a "supported" product--I was hopeful that the new site would distinguish between "required" and "supported"...maybe someday it will...). Hope this is helpful.
Edit: I should probably add that that suit (Beowulf M4) was designed for Michael 4, not Genesis...but it will auto-fit to Genesis without requiring the purchase of any additional items.I need help... and fast, please!!!!!Michael 4 was also finally loaded, as well as the V4toV3 part. Aiko needs an installation, but I am too busy jumping around happily... Thanx guys!!!!!!!!
office suit for genesis..it also says the compatible figure is Michael 4, Michael 4 Elite, Hiro 4.. but doesnt mention the Genesis?

In that case I expect some photorealistic renders soon ;) Check out HDRI world lighting it makes a differense. in both Cycles and LUX render
Also Cycles has a very useful feature in blender, you can set up a viewport to preview render while you work.
It was Hexagon that forced me in to blender too
Sure if only it will stop crashing on me ... I really want to try SSS in blender, but it crashes even with no shaders setted up...Oh people say that hexagon is so easy, and I belive that it is for them, but I cannot even make a glass there ( In blender it takes like 5 minutes..)

My first entry to the contest proper, a "Summer Fun" entry:
Title: Jubilee Party
This June there were celebrations to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee here in the UK. Many people lined the streets for the official events in London and elsewhere, others held their own party at home. Here's a scene from one such party, which got better weather than most of us that weekend!
Free items from Trumarcar: (I was able to use quite a lot of these!)
1. The K4 girl near the table is wearing a dress, sash and crown from the Party Princess Outfit for K4
2. Her flat shoes are from the Shoes and Slipper for K4 set (scroll down to find the shoes)
3. The food is all from Trumarcar's Food Props including Milk Shake and Ice Creams, Fruit, Cup Cakes and Cake for a Special Occasion (scroll down to find them all)
Other Free Items:
The girl in the party dress is also wearing:
4. Gnomie Hair for V4/A4 from Fisty (DAZ PA freebie for Day 6 of the 24 Days of Christmas 2008 - the link is highlighted in that post as "Media Fire") ...

Paid Items:
1. The outdoor setting is from the Dream Home Yard and Pool set at DAZ3D
2. The background foliage is from Ecomantics - Efficient Ecosystems at DAZ3D
I'm not sure whether Maddie (Millennium Kids - PreSchoolers girl) counts as free or not (she used to be free and is a "DAZ base character", but not explicity listed in the rules). If not, then:
3. Two uses of Maddie
No-Count Items:
K4 girl with the default K4 female texture and included expression morphs
Two uses of the Genesis basic female shape
and possibly:
Maddie No 1 (in red, white and blue dress) with included Skin Tone 1 texture and included expression morphs
Maddie No 2 (carrying the rabbit) with included Skin Tone 2 texture and included expression morphs
The woman on the left is also wearing "Nene Hair" by redviper - I found this freebie on ShareCG in June last year, but it has apparently disappeared.
The table is from Holiday Furniture by Ice WolfX (DAZ PA freebie for Day 4 of 2010 24 Days of Christmas) - the forum can still be accessed at
2012 24 Days of Christmas but the download link seems no longer to work.
(Edited to remove some spurious and space-wasting blanks - this is quite long enough as it is!)

The same error, "not recognized..." appeared and in the cmd windowYou should then use the command line to cd to "Runtime/Libraries/!DAZ" (referenced from your specific base area) and then execute the DzCreateExPFiles.exe program directly.
For V4 the command is: DzCreateExPFiles "Victoria 4" "V4"
For M4 the command is: DzCreateExPFiles "Michael 4" "M4"

For V4 the command is: DzCreateExPFiles "Victoria 4" "V4"

I've never been a big fan of "beefcake" pin-ups, painted, photos or renders. It's just not my thing, y'understand. But, with this being the Monthly Challenge Forums and the point is to stretch your creativity to new boundaries, I though I'd give it a try. I'll let others who frequent the Challenge judge if I was successful or not. It's just some guy in a cowboy hat so far as I'm concerned...
