I downloaded Michael 4 Business Suit and installed it to /Users/lawrencediggs/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library. However it does not show up where the "read me" files indicate. Where can I find these files?

Hi All.
I have loaded Michael 4 into Carrara 8.5x and would like to put conformable clothes on him.
I am wanting it to be a biblical character and so I have purchased a dynamic robe...
What are the specific steps for making this "prop" conform to and pose with Michael?
I know how to do it in Poser, but I think I am missing something in Carrara.

Check that there's only one \Runtime\libraries\!DAZ\Michael 4 folder on your system - this sounds like the sort of thing that happens when there are two folders, not quite identical, in different Runtimes.

Using Textures

Thanks. These instructions work fine in Daz4 until it says to click on "advanced" in the surfaces tab. I can't find it. Nor can I find "UV Maps", only "UV Set" which only offers default uv.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I bet it's something obvious.

In DS4 "Basic" is "Presets" and "Advanced" is "Editor".

There's a bug in 4.0 with using alternate UV Sets on Gen 4 figures -- it's fixed in 4.5

Is there any way of making it work in 4.0, because I don't want to mess around installing 4.5. I hear many complaints along the lines of "I've just installed the latest version and now all my content has disappeared"? In the editor tab there's no way to change the UV maps that I can see.

Unfortunately I don't know of any workaround. UV Sets is at the top of the Surfaces Editor tab for the DS Default Shader, but it only works on Genesis in 4.0

If you feel a bit more adventurous one option would be to get the free UV Mapper Classic. make a copy of the current OBJ file. Load the OBJ file for the new UV set into UV Mapper Classic and save a .uvs file. Load the copy of the M4 OBJ into UV Mapper Classic, then load UVs and select the file you saved. Save the OBJ. make a copy of the Michael 4 cr2. Open it in a text editor and change the two geometry references to point to the OBJ you saved from UV Mapper with the new uvs. It means loading a neew figure to swap UVs, and you can't mix and match, but it is an option.

Where can I find updates for DAZ figures?

I've got plenty of RAM, made the program large-address aware, and as I'm running 64-bit Windows, I'm told I don't need the /3GB switch.. Still, whenever I attempt to load Hiro or Michael 4, Poser seems to go into this inescapable infinite loop. Since I've made content for Michael 4 in Poser 6, I know he loads, but that was 3 years ago and I cannot for the life of me remember what I had to do. Can anyone help refresh my memory? Thank you.

Genesis is the latest "generation". Before that theer were Michael 4 and Victoria 4, different figures from Genesis though their textures will work on Genesis and their clothes can be used on Genesis via AutoFit (and the GenX plugin in the store will convert morphs). Before that there were a number of third generation figures - not just Michael 3 and Victoria 3, but also Stephanie Pettite, Aiko 3, Hiro 3, the Freak and the Young Teens and lids; if you have the Legacy shapes you can convert their clothes to Genesis with Auto Fit, and GenX has an add-on to convert their morphs, but you'd need another tool - Texture Converter 2 and plugins - to convert their texturs to Generation 4, which could then be used on Genesis. Before that there were Victoria 1 and 2, Michael 1 & 2, and the original Stephanie - the 1 and 2 differed only in their morphs, they were the same figure underneath, and none of their content is compatible with Genesis.
