Michael 4 clothes help!
The Morphing Head pack is for Michael 1 and 2, not Michael 4. If you look at the Additional Information tab on its page http://www.daz3d.com/shop/michael-s-conforming-halloween-heads/ it states the compatible figures.
Because there are cowboy outfits and textures for several different generations you are going to need to tell us precisely which one you bought for people to be able to help on that one. One possibility which would match what you saw is that you actually bought a texture pack instead of the outfit it goes with.
Given you have bought at least one of the items by mistake you can contact sales support to arrange a refund.
In general you can't use an item from one generation with a figure from another generation. M4, V4 and K4 etc are the fourth generation figures, V3, M3, and so on were third generation, Generations 1 and 2 overlap, but there are very few items still available for them.
Genesis is Generation 5, with V5 and M5 being particular morphs of the Genesis figure, and can also use Gen 4 clothing via Autofit (and Gen 3 if you buy the Gen 3 figure packs). Genesis clothing can also be used on earlier figures.Michael 4 clothes help!Hey everyone,
I'm trying to load up a couple of clothing products I bought for Michael 4, but it just isn't working. It's the Cowboy pack and the Morphing Heads pack (pumpkin and skull). For starters, even though I put the morphing heads stuff in the folders that should've worked, I can't even get it to show up in my content library. Secondly, the cowboy clothes ARE showing up in my content library, but when I go to load them, nothing happens. There's no error of any kind. It appears that it does something, but nothing loads up. I have no idea what to do or what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated. The process you want to transfer any morph pack is:
Load M4 (or whatever base figure goes with the morphs)
Load the morph pack
Go through the list of morphs under the head and/or body parts selecting the morphs you want by clicking on the box at the left of the line, a tick should then appear in the box (alternatively press "Select" and then "Transfer All: On" to transfer everything).
Ensure "Selected Morphs" is selected
Click on "Transfer"I've just confirmed this process is correct by successfully transferring the M4 Creature Creator morphs using this method.
The transferred morphs are found under actor/Generation X/Michael 4
I tried that, DWG. For some reason it isn't working. I have successfully transferred M4 Creature Creator morphs also, alone with the Morphs++.

Problems with M4 baseThe promo picture is with a hair/wig, sold separately.
It also sounds like your M4 is loading with the wrong skin. Like it is loading the skin for a different figure. Try applying one of the shader presets for M4 from people, M4, materials, Daz's M4, materials, standard res. The crew cut is the default skin shader, there are other choices in the m4 materials folder.
http://www.daz3d.com/shop/michael-4-base-male-3d-model/ scroll down and open what is included, the hair isn't, nether is the morphs++ that you will need.
I'd put a link up for the hair if I could find it, but a search for Michael 4 hair gives me a lot of stuff that isn't hair and isn't for M4.
Great job of hiding the pertinent info people need when shopping. Typical fricken DAZ marketing.Problems with M4 baseI just bought the base for M4, and so far I'm pretty disappointed. First, I'm not sure if it loaded right. The base looks flawed. There is a crack in the top of his head and it looks like he has two mouths. There are some strange lines on the body and the the outline of the body doesn't seem as smooth as it should be.
I'm also not sure if everything that I downloaded is working. What is the M4 base power loader? There is an icon for M4 Mix. When I select it, Daz acts as if its loading something, but nothing happens. Does anyone know what this is supposed to do?
Also, if you look up the Michael 4 base on the site, the character has a certain hairstyle. The character I downloaded did not have that hairstyle, or any hairstyle except a crewcut. Even worse, I have no idea how to get the hairstyle that is shown. Can anyone tell me how to do this? Part of the reason I bought M4 is because I assumed he would like the way he does on the site.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.Confused about Freak 4 / M4 installationRESOLVED I think. I reinstalled Michael 4 and it now told me to initialize the character and run a command-line updater. Once this was done The Freak 4 installed.
JULY New Users Contest WIP ThreadDecided it was time to stop messing with it. :)
My entry "GENESIS" has now been posted to the contest thread. As with my first entry, I wanted to provide a little commentary here:
First, on interpretation and meaning: it's probably best not to say too much about this, but I wanted this to have several possible interpretations in addition to the obvious one. It was also my intention from the beginning to leave "Adam" untextured. The rule on nudity was only part of the reason for this.
Some products I used in "Ambush on the High Peaks" made another appearance here: Michael 5, Stefan for M4 and Genesis, Medieval Male Peasant Clothing, Journeyer Scout (the sash), Parkside Point Ground, Light Dome Pro (once again I used one of the jpeg backgrounds, not the lighting itself). Others include Pure Hair Classic (on both figures; untextured and with some of the surfaces hidden on "Adam"), Manly Men M5 (one of the things I used to shape "Adam"), Michael 4 Long Beard (because I was too cheap to buy Unshaven for Genesis), and K4 Basicwear for Genesis (the briefs that come with DS4, used because I made the tunic partially transparent and didn't want to violate the nudity rule).
A few tricks in DS and GIMP I used: on the surfaces tab, turned up Ambient on the "God" figure's eyes to achieve that bright, glowing look. I did some things to the other character's eyes too, but in the end it's not really obvious. The glow near their hands was also achieved without the need for postwork; that's just a carefully-positioned point light. The halo affect started with an Uber Area sphere, and was enhanced by using the smudge tool in GIMP. The smudge tool also helped me smooth out some issues with the sash and with the beard.
The previously-mentioned transparent clothes are a handy thing to know how do: just go to the Surfaces tab and turn down the opacity of the item in question (even going to 90% can increase realism in some instances; this one was set to 70%, I think). I also made heavy use of the softglow filter and the brightness and contrast sliders. I used the cartoon filter on the previous version I posted above, which was one of the elements in the final version. One of the last things I did was to layer together postworked versions (like the one above) and raw renders, and adjusted the opacity of each layer until I got the look I wanted.
Confused about Freak 4 / M4 installationThe missing files like m4chestgrps.pz2 mean you haven't run the updater, or at least not the right one if you have multiple installations on the same machine (always something to avoid). Go to the folder you installed to, or the active folder, and then to \Runtime\libraries\!DAZ. Double-click DzCreateExPFiles-m4.command. That should generate the files that load the morph information into Poser (and into DS, if you don't have the .dsb file alongside the .cr2).
Freak 4 works to an extent in Poser - you need to use the NoScale version though, as Poser didn't do single-axis scaling of individual body parts the way it was needed for the scaling version. I can't recall how the Michael 4 updates went - if this is an old download it may be worth resetting your order from your Itemised order History to make sure you have the current installers for both M4 and the Freak 4. The product page doesn't list any requirements beyond the base Michael 4, for Freak 4.Confused about Freak 4 / M4 installationI've copied over my Poser install to work on this Netbook, along with the MIchael 4 and some other DAZ figures.
The Freak 4 will still not install into my Runtime. I looked it up and read someone saying that Michael 4 was updated right before the Freak 4 was released to "fix this problem?" And that maybe The Freak 4 isn't even compatible with some versions of Poser?
Confused about Freak 4 / M4 installationI need more info than that ...
Okay, so I have the base M4 figure with no morphs. I do remember seeing expression morphs for M4, never tried to load them.
EDIT: I loaded Michael 4 base figure in Daz Studio from my Poser install. It kept asking for files like m4chestgrps.pz2 which I don't seem to have on this comp anyway.
I get confused over where these !DAZ and Deltas and various folders are actually supposed to be but I assume they installed correctly for Poser anyway.
I have, as I said, copied my Michael 4 and other DAZ files to this little Netbook in several different places, including in a DAZ Studio library folder and a fake "Poser 6/Runtime" folder. But no matter which directory I point it to, the Freak 4 refuses to install. Probably because I'm missing certain files or they're not in the right place, since I'm only faking having Poser on this comp.
The DSB etc files, I guess those are DAZ Studio files ...
Confused about Freak 4 / M4 installationMost of the Michael 4 morphs are in the Morphs++ set. However, I think you should have a spandex morph and the expression morphs even if you have only the base figure.
As the Freak 4 is just a morph et for Michael 4 the installer has to be pointed to the content location used for Michael 4 (that is, the folder that holds the Runtime folder. As far as I recall Poser 6 does need the figures in the application folder - Poser 7 was the first version, at least on Windows, that would work with external libraries (without hand-editing the files); DAZ Studio can be pointed to the Poser 6 folder as a Poser content directory so that you don't have to install the content twice.Confused about Freak 4 / M4 installationI'm confused about how to install figures like Michael 4 and Freak 4 correctly in DAZ Studio and Poser. As in, what files are needed and where they're supposed to go.
I've had Poser 6 [previously 4] on my old [2003-era] Mac since 2005ish, and try to keep it updated with the major DAZ humans. I use it occasionally for planning out artwork, but haven't used it [or that computer] much in awhile. I know that the installation process has changed a lot since DAZ has been focusing on DAZ Studio rather than Poser. I never got on with DAZ Studio but the Genesis figures seem impressive.
I know I'm behind the times in terms of technology - I'm planning to buy a new computer soon.
I installed Michael 4 into Poser 6 a long time ago, and I don't think I ever got his morphs working. They're all disabled and I'm not sure what I did wrong. Unless I have to buy the morphs separately and never did or something.
I just bought The Freak 4 finally and ran the Mac installer. The main DPC installer doesn't even run on my 2003-era Mac. I click it and nothing happens. The other installers work.
I ran it on my little Netbook instead and it runs, but says the required file has NOT been found and it will exit now. I really need to get The Freak 4 running, so I installed the new Daz Studio and put as many Michael 4 and Daz character files as I could find from Poser into my DAZ Studio library.
DAZ Studio doesn't seem to recognize most of what I put in there, and neither does the installer, which still won't install. I can't load Michael 4 or install The Freak.
So where do these files go? Not sure I still have a Michael 4 installer. Maybe on some disc somewhere.

New Users help for starting with DS.Actually, the scroll means that there's a DAZ Studio script file with the same name as the Poser file in the folder and DS will run the script when you double-click on the thumbnail. Usually that's done to put the DA Studio materials preset in with the Poser mat files, so that each application uses its own optimised settings, but it can be used for other things (for Victoria 4 and Michael 4, for example, i launches the Power loader utility so that you can choose which morphs to load).
"Creature' legs for genesis: Do they exist?I'm wondering if there's anything out there like this set, specifically those inverse animal legs, ( http://www.daz3d.com/shop/michael-4-creature-creator-morphs/ ) for Genesis yet. I checked the genesis creature set and while it shows something with leg kinda like that in the last image ( http://www.daz3d.com/shop/genesis-creature-creator-bodies/ ) but... it's not actually included in the set, if you look at the 'what's included' page.
Is there a set like that, and I'm just not seeing it, or something? Or has it yet to come out?
Also, is there a 'tails' set for genesis? You know, for less human creatures? It'd kinda help, after all...
Fitting Wildmane to M4Thanx every one for your help. I must be doing something wrong. I find Wildmane by doing a search in the content lib ( the file system of Daz3D totally baffles me). I find it under Genesis like Lindsey states above. However, I cannot find the 12 "fits' refered to by Jaderail. When I select the wildmane (which is misplaced only M4) and I go to Parameters, the only thing I find that referes to 'Fit' is Fit to... Which I find beneath Point at in the Misc catagory.
In THIS Fit to... the only choices are 'Michael 4' and 'None'.
I have never seen 12 fits anywhere. However, here is how I worked around it:
I load wildmane on to M4. - It lands in the midle of his face (note, M4 is taller than the standard Genesis by this same amount.)
I then click on wildmane to select it to show its parameters,
I then also Right Click on wildmane to see the context menu. Here I select 'Fit to...' and it shows that it IS fit to M4, (albeit in the middle of his face).
I then select NONE to unfit it.
Now I can reposition it to the top of M4's head.
I then Right Click again to see the contextual menu again, this time selecting 'Change Parent...' It shows that it's parent is NONE, so I select HEAD as the parent.
Now the hair stays on his head just fine, regardless of pose or position.
Note: "HEAD" appears twice in the list of thing that could be parents. If I choose the HEAD that is near the bottom of the list (beneath ik-Foot and ik-Hand,(Hip,Abdomen, Abdomen2, Chest, Neck, Head, and Collars are listed here at the bottom of the list as well as near the top(?)) it WILL NOT STICK. But if I scroll up to near the top of the list, near where the tree starts, THIS HEAD WILL STICK. After I do this, the list no longer has Hip,Abdomen, Abdomen2, Chest, Neck, Head, and Collars listed at the bottom... Am I making any sense?Perhaps this IS the way one does this, but the 'Fit to...' Still shows NONE...
Hopefully if this is not the correct way of doing this it will not come back to bite me later. I stll feel ike I am missing something about 'Fit to..' and the eleven missing fits.Fitting Wildmane to M4Yes, this is what I think I am doing.
I select the hair. I right click the hair (I am in win7) I get a right click menu, I select "Fit to..." I am presented with a small window that says Fit To
In this window it says Fit "wildmane hair" onto: beneath is a long rectangle with the currently selected "Fit to" object (Maicheal 4 is already there).
I click on this long rectangle and I am presented with the Fit To options, which in this case are 'Michael 4' and 'none'.
I select Michael 4. The hair remains in the middle of the head.D'Oh!
Is there a way of adjusting where the hair attaches? It is Fit To because it moves with all poses of the character, it is just in the wrong place.
Fitting Wildmane to M4To be honest, I am not sure.
I select the head of the M4 character. I then select the wildmane. It appears in the middle of the head - no autofit menu appears. If I select the wildmane and choose 'Fit To" the choices are Michael 4 and none. Most times when I load wildmane it fits to the middle of the head. Just now, it floated above the character. I selected wildmane and saw that it was fitted to none. I changed that to Michael 4 and, again it fits to the middle of the head. once fitted, I cannot adjust its position. If I fit it to none and reposition it, when I go to fit it to Michael 4 it goes back to the middlle of the head. I am sure I am missing something very easy and basic, but it alludes me at the moment.
