  • New Year, New Sales Thread: Report Issues Here 4 "Reporting Only"

GET-ROWDY coupon code doesn't work on Victoria 9 HD. Originally I thought it's because of the $9.99 price, but I can use the code with other products below $10.

"Discount excludes Gift Cards, Memberships, Licenses, New Releases and Daz+ Items."  None of these conditions apply, it's not marked as outlet or quick grab product either.

It's because Victoria 9 is currently in Quick Grab. QG items are pretty much always excluded from such offers.

I see, thanks. Shopping on this site is... sub-optimal. The product shows up in the category the code applies to, it's not marked in any way, you can't filter it out, you just simply HAVE TO KNOW IT'S EXCLUDED. Sigh...

  • A DAZ Studio Version to Render in Metal?

    DrunkMonkeyProductions said:

That's not all that impressive, as Keyshot is OpenGL based.

    It's also $1300/year on subscritption.

There's no way, that i'm aware of, to get IRay to operate on apple silicon, as it's dependent on the CUDA architecutre which is strictly Nvidia.

Unless daz incorporates a different render engine, you're gonna be stuck with cpu only on on macs.

Luxion made this possible on Mac by rewriting KeyShot’s graphics engine to leverage Apple Metal and its ray tracing framework instead of the NVIDIA CUDA ecosystem, while taking advantage of the unified memory of Apple Silicon chips (M1 through M4), which allows the graphics card to instantly access all system resources without bottlenecks to process very complex scenes.

From a technical standpoint, there’s no reason why Daz Studio couldn’t follow in KeyShot’s footsteps: its main rendering engine (Nvidia’s Iray) is based on the same fundamental concepts of ray tracing and could easily be adapted or paired with a Metal backend to take advantage of the unified memory and RT cores in Apple Silicon chips. The argument that this port would be financially or technically unfeasible because Daz is free software funded by its 3D content store doesn’t hold water in light of KeyShot’s example; it is first and foremost a matter of engineering and resource allocation, proving that with a commitment to software modernization, exclusive dependence on Nvidia is no longer a technical inevitability on the Mac.

Furthermore, the current memory shortage and the skyrocketing prices of graphics cards are making users particularly cautious about the cost-effectiveness and investment required for configurations that demand a lot of processing power.
This is prompting software developers to find alternatives. And that’s exactly what Apple is offering.

I don't mean to promote Apple, but I've always preferred the macOS interface to that of Windows (I'm familiar with both environments). That's why I'm frustrated that I don't have the same choices or software capabilities.

  • V3Digitimes Daz Studio 2025 (6) compatibility Status

So far, around 30 products have already been submitted, 7 of which are now live.

I still have at least 12 products to go:

    • 1 : Ultimate Pose Master G9, already tested by a private beta tester, so this one should be near the top of the list.
    • 2 : Wayfinder Sign Generator and Speech Bubble Generator. For these, I want to handle the new way DS6 separates Font Families and Font Styles. It is not implemented yet, but I already have an idea of how to deal with it.
    • 4 : Iray Converters. These are not my highest priority, since they can largely be replaced by Texture Booster and Shader Converter. They mostly work already, but the Geograft Transfer Tool still needs to be adapted.
    • 2 : Tan Lines for Michael 7 and Victoria 7. Only one script needs to be updated for each, so the actual update should be quick, but they still need testing on both DS versions, packaging, submission pages, etc.
    • 1 : Scene Analyzer, which has not been updated at all yet. There are quite a few things to fix, and some features simply won't work in DS6 for now because there is currently no way to fix them.
    • 2 : Ultimate Pose Master and Ultimate Pose Master Pro with Mega Pose Toolkit. For these, only the Menu and Toolbar installers still need to be finalized. They have been giving me trouble for a looong time, but I think I now have the solution. Maybe. :D

So that's at least 12 more products .... plus any I may have forgotten along the way. I'll do one final pass through everything once I reach the end, just to make sure nothing was missed.
And then there's QA... I just hope I won't end up blacklisted after sending them this many updates in such a short period of time. :D
edit : Maybe I should start sending QA a countdown with each submission... “Only 11 more to go!” :D

After all, mansions are customized products and naturally need to resonate with their surroundings. This time, it's a mansion on a remote island, with a vast space that can accommodate many vehicles or military equipment. It sparked a lot of inspiration.

I like how it looks like the atoll is on an actual living coral reef, at least from the front

seen some docos and photos of places like this they do exist even some castle like ones

thought I'd google Bayou as sometimes other things can be named the same but be different so apperently -

A bayou is a slow-moving, marshy body of water, such as an inlet, outlet, or minor stream connected to a larger river or lake. The word is most commonly used in the Gulf Coast region of the southern United States, especially in Louisiana.

    Wikipedia +1

    Where the Word Comes From

    • The word comes from the Louisiana French term bayou.
    • It originally comes from the Choctaw Native American word bayuk, which means "small stream".

      Dictionary.com

    What a Bayou Looks Like

    • Flat, low-lying land where water barely moves.
    • Lined with thick plants, trees like cypress, and hanging moss.
    • Filled with rich wildlife, including fish, turtles, and alligators.

      Wikipedia +1

    Bayou vs. Swamp

    • Bayou: Has a slow, steady current or gentle movement.
    • Swamp: Mostly static or standing water sitting over a large area of saturated land.

But still not a beach so

Plus it's very clearly meant to be part of a traveling fair, not an amusement park. Not that amusement parks don't sometimes have rides built for the traveling fair circuit, but this one literally says "Fair!" on it.

As a ride, it's not really absurd. It's just not what it says it is.

That's what we have down under we do have some proper theme parks but most have traveling shows like here in Tasmania where we have shows (traveling fairs) that last two or three days a year in each location so the rides/amusements have to be small and easy to erect and take apart for the next location video shows the various rides/attractions showbag alley extra

I checked in my cart (didn't actually made the purchase), the coupon GET-ROWDY does result in a free Daz Originals if its price is under $10:

    https://www.daz3d.com/lets-get-rowdy#offers

Keep in mind that if you're using tokens, your cart's total must be at least $10.01, otherwise, the store will automatically remove all tokens (it's a system put in place to avoid people from wasting tokens on free cart).

And free today on Renderosity, the Chain Metal Outfit for G3F: you need to be connected to see it, otherwise you'll end on a 404 error.

Amusement Park Roller Coaster isn't one

I've actually seen one of those in real life, although it's technically closer to what amusement park ride afficionados would call an aerial carousel, rather than a true rollercoaster.  Again, this all comes down to a lot of DAZ products having names that are not really accurate.

Am I missing something? It looks like a kiddie coaster to me. Like they'd have one at a fair or in the kids section of the amusement park.

The train of a rollercoaster is free running on the track. The train on this ride is connected to a motorized central spindle. It's some sort of track-based flat ride similar to a cross between a Caterpillar or Music Express/Himalaya (central drive), and a Bayern Kurve/Olympic Bobs (train isn't connected in a full loop).

Plus it's very clearly meant to be part of a traveling fair, not an amusement park. Not that amusement parks don't sometimes have rides built for the traveling fair circuit, but this one literally says "Fair!" on it.

As a ride, it's not really absurd. It's just not what it says it is.

Funny that the Bayou Stilt House comes with a beach environment and not, you know, a bayou

Yeah...not to mention that it's on a tiny smidgeon of land that would probably disappear during high tides and make access difficult the rest of the time.  I think a lot of people have no idea what a bayou actually is... or it could just be that adding a real bayou would have meant more modeling of trees, other plants, etc. than the PA wanted to invest.

That was my guess. Too much work.

Adding a full bayou would probably make it two products in effect.

Which goes back to the question of why they named it the product a Bayou House, when they didn't add the bayou and instead delivered a beach house.

The other day I searched my database looking for full-sized renders of some products I bought.

All too many of the products apparently no longer existed.

A search of the main store disappointed as well.

Sometimes, the name shown in the Content Library is different from the name in the product database.

We shouldn't need to jump through hoops like this.

The search system is a mess. During promotions, some artist names are completely unsearchable. Searching for the "office environment" category only yields one page of results, and many products don't even appear.

Every artist has different requirements for their work. I like that the houses in "Human" are always surrounded by a bunch of trees, which saves me the trouble of creating a background.I also like this modern aesthetic design (I don't know how to describe it properly, minimalist? geometric?).

Digital Lab 3D's products always exude a sense of epic grandeur and solitude. Imagine the protagonist looking up at this bridge from below—how breathtaking! If this river were designed to flow into the sea, I would definitely place a Bayou Stilt House or a Private Island Villa there.

    https://www.daz3d.com/fpe-wuxia-marks-for-genesis-9
I like this Wuxia series of products. Although the imprint is quite small, I look forward to using products that can be applied to the whole body. It would be fantastic if it had patterns on the backs and arms of creatures like the Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, Black Tortoise, and Qilin, along with a glowing effect.

Just leave DAZ and Google the subject with the words "DAZ forum" added.  I've yet to try the AI version, but the DAZ store, forum, and DAZ Studio searches have always been inferior to the stand-alone search engines, going back to the days of AskJeeves, especially when products that were are DAZ have either moved to another store or are no longer available.

i wish I could be as frugal buying DAZ clothes as I am with my real ones yes

It’s not actually that difficult; given the steadily rising cost of living, the noticeably higher price level on DAZ—combined with offers that are mostly lackluster and usually tied to the purchase of a high-priced qualifying item—makes the decision (for me personally) relatively easy.
Since the turn of the year, I have only picked up the free items, as none of the offers really convinced me.
I find that a real shame, because I actually enjoy shopping at DAZ.

The one big advantage to shopping at DAZ is that at least it doesn't fill my house up with random stuff, just my harddrives.  Pretty much the same reason I switched to buying all my books electronically, actually.  Beyo9nd that, well... I've run the numbers, and in terms of cost and hours invested , it's now actually often cheaper to hire a live model for a photoshoot against greenscreen than it is to do the same thing with DAZ figures.
