I've been using DIM now for a little while. Please, please, please, I beg that you bring back DazCentral.

DIM is CONSIDERABLY slower than Central ever was (for me). The lack of large thumbnails in the list (pop-up doesn't count, because that's not as quick to check and I'd still have to remember things by name. I cannot make out the tiny thumbnails AT ALL) is really starting to get me down. It's so much harder to figure out what I have. I purchased a lot of things in the Black Friday sales, but it's been so slow trying to retrieve all the thumbnails (because DIM somehow doesn't have the ability to automatically load them, whereas Central did) and then installing seems to be taking longer too (that could just be me being biased here). I managed to accidentally update Daz to 4.22 via DIM, which thankfully didn't cause any issues but I do now get lovely sales pitches when trying to make a new scene. DIM also signs me out every time I close it (Remember Me is definitely ticked), and I still hate the dated interface.

This might sound strange, but it's also been a bit sad not being able to show off all my swanky new purchases. Before, I would excitedly go share a screenshot of DazCentral to my friends, like "hey! Look at all this neat stuff! What do you think I should make?", and that was really fun. I got some great ideas for new art doing that. I can't do that now so I'm not inadvertantly promoting Daz assets, and it's absolutely tanked my desire to just make random art using random things I see in my files list. The Smart Content thing being broken too is just adding to my let-down.

I really tried to get into DIM with an open mind despite all the jank. People here were kind enough to help me figure out some of my problems with DIM, but after using it for a bit I have to say it's just... an inferior bit of software (to me!). I don't understand why we can't have both options, but perhaps that's me not being techy enough to know how much work goes into maintaining both. :( Rant over. :(

I have the same issue. Daz Central just says loading.

And why would you phase out Daz Central? I thought Daz Central was supposed to replace Daz Installer, not the other way around.

Daz Central is the superior product.

Yep, finally died on or about Nov. 20. I used it as long as I could.

Hmmm, suffering a few days of really missing DAZ Central.  DIM is definitely harder to get a quick overview from, which is probably going to be the biggest thing to get used to. I notice that ready to download items don't list purchase dates, which I always appreciate seeing when I install stuff. Yes, you get bigger thumbnails and order dates when you hover over each item, but that's an extra step and slow. The interface is definitely less intuitive.

Otherwise I'm trying to get used to it. Sigh. Does DIM retrieve thumbnails itself for new items, or do we really have to choose to retrieve them everytime we download new stuff?

I've already got DS 4.22 installed. Is there a way to download the package again through DIM to keep as a backup?

daz central is not installed on my current windows 10 - it was installed on windows 8, which was on drive F , i think

anyways, thanks for your help - ill try the solution from the first post (sry, cant remember who it was) and see it that solves everything.

if that doesnt work, i'll have to start removing the old daz files on F until something breaks and i have to re-install daz

Anyway, pls try to uninstall DC first... I'm not sure of the culprit as I have no way to reproduce your issue and I had removed DC after I tried it less than 15 minutes two years ago...

Then delete "F:\Daz Central\Daz3D\cms" folder to Windows Recycle Bin ! Create a brand new folder "F:\Daz 3D\cms",  then retry the steps I posted before.

ive installed and moved daz around so much i don't know where i'm at anymore. i think i can delete that daz central daz installation (probably it's an installation i had on another hdd, then i bought an sdd, installed windows 10 on it, and installed daz also on the ssd, leaving that daz central installation there. ops!)

p.s - sorry, its been a while since i've messed around with the daz installations.

edit: the fact remains, though, that moving the cms to anywhere results in missing category folder and the error attached

p.p.s - im using Daz 4.21.0.5  Pro Edition..i dont know about it being General Release or Public Build.

Yes ~~ shuddown, deprecated... its life-cycle was over. It won't come back I suppose. Most of DC's functions have been moved to DIM, which is much much more stable and reliable. Pls go for DIM and Smart Content. You'll soon get used to them and like them.

Oh ok I see it now in the download in the DAZ3D Site , I can download it on my installed folder with not risk to download everything again?

Install Manager should pick up your Daz Central settings automatcically, as - with respect to folders used and the manifests used to track isntallation - they are the same application.

Yup. Was due to be shut down on the 15th but it may have been a week or so later given the timing of the posts. You'll now need to use DIM.

Supposedly there was a notification within Central itself about this.

Apologies if I'm behind the curve as I'm a casual DAZ user these days but has the DAZ Central software been discontinued? It doesn't seem to work anymore and I don't see a link on the DAZ website anymore.

That's too bad because DAZ Central made it easy to find assets, now it's like a black hole....

Hey everyone.
For 3 days now my Daz3D Central keep loading and loading , I try to exit log off and log in again but nothing helps.
I bought two new items for my daz and I can't install them and when I try to install them in my DazCentral I can't see them because it's keep loading.
It's happend to more people or only to me? and if it's only to me any one know how to fix it?

You presuambly lost your database, and will also have lost your content diectory settings if they were not default. As long as you didn't format the drive you should be able to recover the database, though if you use Install manager (or Daz Central, formerly) to install you can also reimport metadata if you don't care about your own, or used the Export userdata command. First, an you see your files in the Content Library under Daz Studio Formats?

Hello there!

Is it just me, or does DAZ Central not connect at the moment?

I am trying to install a new envinroment, so that's why I am wondering.

It says "Loading" but doesn't show me the new items I bought.

Curious as to why Central was discontinued. It had its flaws but it was nice to be able to quickly view your assets and access them in DAZ. DIM is a good tool but....
