Perhaps the way DS reads the data could be changed to at least aid in minimizing this issue. I think it is enevitable that products use the same name get released at some point. It is impossible for us all to keep track of that. What DS needs to do is to have a better way of treating this problem instead of popping up errors and jacking up load times by absurd margains. If Daz wishes to be a popular product, it is their best interest to find a way to handle this, because this issue only happens because of popularity. All sorts of places are making Daz content, and Daz releases a ton of content every day. Either way, the users get extremely frustrated with these kinds of issues.

As for what DS can actually do, I think a new setting in the menu to tell DS "hey, I do not want to load these character morphs" would be our answer to a lot of problems. I think A LOT of people would want this option. Since most people do not want to go back to the Victoria 4 way of injecting morphs, I think this kind of setting would be the best of both. This setting is found in the preferences menu, and users would be able to define which morphs to ignore. It is not the same as uninstalling or moving a character's files, which is pretty annoying. Users could in and search by name for what morphs to ignore, and check them off. This option needs to exist so people can load their characters faster and also avoid this duplicate ID issue. When they wish to use those morphs again, they simply remove them from the ignore list.

I am sure a number of clever script writers would also come up with ways to enhance this experience for users, which would offer Daz the chance to sell something on top of solving this problem. A chance to solve a problem AND make money on top of it? Sounds like a WIN-WIN.

The longer Daz ignores this issue the more of a problem it will become. And frustrating users is what turns them away. That loses money.

Hopefully everyone affected by "item returns" get their inventory (and their trust) restored. It seems like the sales team is working hard to make it right.
Having this new "bundle discount feature" being applied to a small subset of bundles on a promotion page (where the offer expires at DAZ midnight) seems to have caused a lot of issues for everyone involved... for both customers and the sales team.
After reading that 35 people had individual items from PRO BUNDLES (that they PAID FOR) removed after starter bundles were "returned", had me obsessively double-checking through my entire order history and product library; but alas, it looks like I just got lucky... nothing appears to have been removed.
The whole Starter Bundle not showing as purchased when you purchased a Pro Bundle (that includes all the Starter Bundle content) thing has been a longstanding issue for many of us long-time customers. We've tried to get around these missing store features by using third party browser extensions like the DAZ DEALS plugin to hide bundles (that just have items we've already purchased), but this gets really tedious... and manually hiding items with the DAZ DEALS plugin can cause other unintended consequences... the HIDE ITEMS feature can inadvertently hide new releases in published artist pages.
It would save us all so much headache if bundles consisting of items we've already purchased, simply showed as purchased, so we could easily hide these with the Hide Items I Own checkbox in the SHOP page.
This new bundle discount feature finally gave us a way to do this... but... attaching it to a promotion that expires, instead of rolling it out as a store-wide feature for all bundles... seems to have caused a ton of customer confusion, and many unintended consequences.

I would just like to request a remake of Lydia HD for Genesis 8.1. I think Lydia is one of the best characters around IMO, and it would be great to see her utilize the features of Genesis 8.1. Currently, loading her textures on G8 or G8.1 causes texture issues on her right arm.

Well, I've written a few articles already pertaining to generations of Daz human figures that make any of our reluctance to move to newer generations completely justified, in my opinion.

Victoria 4 is the beginnings of an article of my fandom of this particular, ultra-popular figure. I still don't think that any other figure (period) has recieved as much support content - not by a long shot. Michael didn't get nearly as much, but his support content availability is still pretty solid as well.

Daz 3d Human History (also in its original state of writing - to be continued) is currently only looking at the Victoria side of things, but really helps to show how incredibly good Daz 3d human figures looked right from their very first offering, Victoria, the Millennium Woman, who took the Poser industry by storm! 

Victoria 8.1+ (who isn't in that article yet) is a figure to behold, for sure. She is capable of accepting a bit more of a professional approach to animation and HD rendering, right out of the box. But looking at how Victoria 1 (upgraded to 2) looks in her default, low rez form, she's quite a beauty and is extremely poseable/animatable. Add to that some high resolution textures and she's still a great figure!

Genesis 1 Rocks! is the workflow I'm on now - mostly because of all of the generation 4 support products I've collected, especially including fairly expensive (to me) animated poses and aniBlocks, etc., which all still work, at least for the most part on Genesis. Since switching Rosie and Dart to Genesis, I've also finally picked up some of my favorite generation 3 costumes to try, and they work Great on Genesis! 

With GenX2 and the plethora of clone shapes, I'm able to use any generation of Daz human while still sticking with Genesis 1, which I love! Just enough modern technology to really make a huge difference in my work, while being early enough to have compatibility with literally anything. I'm in the middle of the best times I've ever had with 3d human figure animation!

Hi,

in my render of Victoria 8.1 i get black spots on the forehead.

The female eyelashes and female tear both seem to be responsible for that. When i switch both off, the spots are gone. I see the spots only in the iray render not in the iray preview.

Any ideas to solve that?

I saw a conversation on here the other day about character load times and how adding morphs affects them, and I was just wondering; (1) is there anyway to save out a character clone with just specific morphs applied (Victoria 8 as example) and (2) is there any advantage (specifically being able to load more characters into a single scene/would there be a pc resource usage difference and would it be slight, mild, or vast)?

Just to clarify, I want to keep my morphable Genesis 8 Female (intact and) as is (with all newly purchased morphs added to the base): untouched. My question is about creating a secondary clone, with (for example) only Victoria 8's morphs (with no need to be able to morph her any further). I wonder if export/importing her as an .obj would do it or if there is a better method (and if it's worth doing)?
