  • How to Use dForce: Creating a Blanket, Draping Clothes on Furniture, and Much More [Commercial]

Here is a link to the Daz documentation on transfer utility. A few little details may be out of date, but the gist is there.

  • Fibermesh brows how to?

How would I go about finding a tutorial for building fibermesh brows? I am working on a character for someone and I feel like fibermesh brows would be the better option than painted on if possible. It's a special character so I want it to be as nice as possible. Can you DO fibermesh in Blender and export for DS? Or would I need something else?

I've made brows in blender I'm not sure if there's a proper tutorial but the general workflow is:

import your mesh (generally you want to use an unmorphed base figure like plain g8)

use particles to create and style your brows (this is the main part and there there definitely are tutorials for it)

convert your particles to mesh (there are multiple ways to do this but the most straight forwards is the way I've written below)

in the modifiers tab you should see your particles and a button that says convert click that.

select this mesh and type alt+c and convert it to a curve.

In the curve settings set the bevel depth to something greater than zero so now you have some actual geometry for your brows

export out and use transfer utility to fit it to genesis

  • 3D Art Freebie Challenge-April 2018-"April Showers Bring....." -Main Thread Only

DAZ 3D Art Freebie Challenge April 2018
    "April Showers Bring..."

"As Green As..." O no, that was last month! ;)

"April Showers Bring... Spring Energy! (And Summer Power eventually)"

As I write this rain is pouring down but this April we've had the sunniest and warmest spring day ever recorded, it felt like summer. Rain followed by a sunny day or two is perfect for the flowers and the plants to grow, birds and butterflies start looking for a partner... Well, anyway, here's a 'picture' of that day to make you forget about the rain, m'kay?

    The story:

"Sun is shinin' in the sky, There ain't a cloud in sight, It's stopped rainin', Everybody's in a play, And don't you know, It's a beautiful new day hey hey hey..." Eddie (an excellent pitcher) was listening to the song in his head while waiting for his mate for some practice when all of a sudden this beautiful girl passes by. Eddie just had to check her, she's stunning pretty! Unfortunately he could not see that she was feeling a little uncomfortable by that, yet still she was flattered by the attention. It's that time of year...

    The soundtrack:

Electric Light Orchestra - Mr. Blue Sky (1977)

  • Restoring deleted eyelashes... or applying current dial settings from one figure to a new figure?

I've been working on a character, spinning a million dials here and there, and managed to delete the eyelashes from the scene along the way... is there any way to restore the eyelashes on Genesis 8 Female after they've been deleted from a scene?

I really don't want to lose the dial settings that I have so far... is there some way I can generate a list of all dial settings I'm using for the face? Or transfer them to a second instance of Genesis 8 Female brought into the scene in Daz Studio 4.10 Pro?

  • Fibermesh brows how to?

I believe the fibremesh eyebrows, hair, and such in the DAZ 3D Store & at other places is made by using the paid version of Look At My Hair in the DAZ Store. There are fibre mesh products such as hair, body hair, facial hair, and eye brows in the DAZ Store. The product Super Natural Brows in the DAZ Store has multple morph targets for shaping, thickness, color, direction, and such and probably can get close to what you need.

If not a LAMH purchase is going to be needed and as the Super Natural Brows product demonstrates, LAMH is quite capable of making short hair fibre mesh options.

  • [Released] Altern8 - Skin Shader System for Genesis 8 [Commercial]

Finally got around to taking these shaders out for a spin and... I am impressed! The amount of options these shaders provide to tweak the skin makes it worth every penny! I had always used and loved NGS' skin results, but I gotta say I'm loving the combination of both these shaders and NGS! I'm probably going to be using these for every render moving forward, that's how impressed I am!

Here's some comparison renders (same light; though the eyes materials are from macro eyes):

And here's a version with some postwork to enchance the sharpness and color correct the final result:

Oh sexy! heheh He did come out a tad pale and "cool" - perhaps one of the warmer SSS Tints? Most of the "character" presets are designed to help with some of the "orange" that some of the "8" figures have. To offset that, when using the character presets with other figures, you might add a bit more of a warmer SSS Tint or Translucency color. :)

These renders do look really good though - very nice!!

Gorgeous character, by the way! What character is that? Or is he a custom or dial-spun figure?

I will play with these shaders more! This time I went more with what looked good rather than try to match his original skintone :). And yes, he is a spun dialed character (love making them). I probably mixed 8 different characters (all different generations), then fine tuned with several different morph packs. I also took out his eyebrows and used oh my brows and oh my lashes to make him more unique.

He's so good looking, you did a great job on him! :D I think if he was in the store I'd snatch him up (and I rarely buy male figures lol).

Thank you for using Altern8 - I'm so glad you like it. That's awesome to hear! laugh

Aw, thank you, means a lot coming from you! I hope to one day learn zbrush and try that out!

    https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/khc-boxbraids-g2f/118133

I parented this hair to V4 and then posed her. As you can see, the included morphs, as they are, do not allow you to move the hair enough to fix the issues.

If you go into the property settings for each morph and manually adjusted the max settings, you do get some improvement, but the braids deform towards the bottom.

  • Which Genesis do most people use?

...G3, as like some others here I have a number of shaping, morph and skin merchant resource utilities and I am now on an extremely tight budget.

Ditto - I have almost the full set of Zev0 add-ons for G3 and I can't afford to buy the same things over and over, so it is G3 for me for the foreseeable future. I do have one G8 character - Grandmother - but even she could benefit from some Zev0 magic but, alas, I only have the G3 versions.

  • GENERAL FREEBIE REQUESTS Part 2

Anyone know where I can find a Klingon forehead bumps morph in the style of Worf's from ST:TNG, devised for Genesis 1, 2, or 3 males?  A quick search of shareCG is finding me Klingon forehead bumps, but they're either the "wrong" era or look (i.e. JJTrek) or otherwise not Worf's style (i.e. there's some Vlana Torrez styled ones), and all of them seem to predate Genesis 1.  oO

  • How to Use dForce: Creating a Blanket, Draping Clothes on Furniture, and Much More [Commercial]

Look! I followed your cone skirt guidance and made a cylindar skirt. I think it looks nice. Thanks for the inspiration.

I exported my Cylindar Skirt as OBJ, rigged it with the transfer utility, applied dForce Modifier again and tweaked the settings, applied a simple texture, saved as figure/prop asset, and now I have a cute new skirt. Amazing!

That turned out really good! How do you rig it with the transfer utility?

Just the same way you would rig any modeled clothing. In the transfer utility, you select G3F (in this case) as the source and the skirt OBJ as the target. There are tutorials around, but I don't have a handy link to one right now. I bet SickleYield has made one. I'll see if I can find a link.

  • Edie 8

Gawd, Magento sucks so bad. Anything but Magento for heaven's sake... Joomla,

    Laurie

Edie is a fantastic character. I bought the Edie Pro bundle, which is a first for me, buying a pro bundle. I'd stopped buying DAZ products since G8 was released , and Monique 8 is the only G8 character I have (and only because of a huge discount). I've tended to work with V4/M4 and build my own materials out of sheer boredom with the offerings since G2.
A couple of questions. What is a good subD level to use? I see it goes to 5, but my machine crawls.
Second Q involves applying MDL face materials to Edie. Normally I would see these in my texture-shaded viewport, but I don't. I have to switch to the NVidia viewport and then I see them. Is this some G8 shader thing I have missed because I haven't used G8?
    Thanks.

For subd, usually 3 or 4 is enough. If you're using the HD morph, I'd use 3 or 4. If you're not you can probably get away with two.

Sorry, but now I am finding problems with the imported morphs being described as "Warning: Geometry did not match, failed to create morph."

I am perhaps forgettng something, but I export the figure as an object and then export as an object from ZBrush, before trying to use Morph Loader Pro to morph the original. It doesn't even match if I simply export, import in ZBrush, export without change and try to load in Daz.
