Hi there. With Genesis figures we never edit the base mesh directly in 3D modeling software. What we do is load the character we want to alter and then export it as a mesh in .obj,.fbx or any of the other export exptions available. We then edit this exported mesh in our 3D application of choice and once we're done we import it back into Daz Studio as a morph for the character we're working with. This is done via Morph Loader Advanced or Pro. If you have Hexagon this process becomes a lot easier. Load you character and click on the "Send to Hexagon" button or use "File > Send to Hexagon". Once the character is loaded in Hexagon make the changes you want and then click on the "Send to Daz Studio" button on the "Utilities" Tab or use "File > Send to Daz Studio". Daz Studio will then give you the option to import your work as a morph.

Great work! Facegen is a lot of fun. Don't know what I would do without it! Wish I was better at clothing like you seem to be. I just can't find time to delve into Blender yet.

 

I'm still struggling with clothing, I'm totally new to 3D modelling.  I use mainly Wilmaps free stuff to pose my characters at the moment.  Facegen is a lot of fun and I hope one day to have the pro version.

That female character is Lydia by Maelwenn.  At least the texture.  The morph is something else...  Charlotte with some dial spins?

Ok, main surfaces I adjusted are HatBase, HatEdge, and HatLabel. By default their dynamics strength are set to .60, I upped them to .95, then turned the edge surface back down to .80 to try to keep it from collapsing completely. I also upped the collision offset to .30 to keep it from looking like silk or something. It still doesn't have quite the "thickness" that I might want, but I didn't spend much time at all with the settings so can definitely be improved. It does get the hood down though!  And if I had put hair in, I would have just kept it invisible for the simulation. I used the hat back morph to get the hood away from her head in the first place, so it just dropped straight down. Definitely happy with it, but also can make it even better with some more material tweaks I am sure.

One caveat, not sure how it will simulate without the ears, since they seem to be pulling it down a bit. If you make them invisible I think they will still pull, but not sure if just setting their dynamic stength to zero will make the simulation ignore them, or if it will "freeze" them in place. Will try that later.

hi im new to this.....bought the 200 plus face morph....but cant find the dials....

can anyone please help?

I've managed to get rid of the "Morphs should be in the morphs folder for the according figure. Continue anyway?" warning by redirecting the Output folder to the Morphs folder in the Data folder (following advice gleaned in this thread), and have reinstalled Genx2 and the G3 & G2 add-ons for the 6th (7th?) time, but it ain't helped one bit...still getting the same gobbledygook about "Error creating intermediate morph from clone"...(wth is an "intermediate morph" anyway? Sounds like what happened to Jeff Goldblum in The Fly...) 

UPDATE: Found answer in this thread. Needed Genesis Starter Essentials installed...not sure why for V4 to Genesis 3, but understanding is not required, only product compliance. Product is now compliant. Good product! 

I get the same error message every time I try to click "Transfer"..."Morphs should be in the morphs folder for the according figure. Continue anyway?" If I click "Yes" as far as I can see, nothing happens. The "History" Tab for Genx2 shows the following;

Can anyone help with this? I have the G2 & G3 add-ons installed (obviously) but so far I've been pulling my hair out over this for over a month and I've been unable to transfer so much as an eyelash!

The Ronen character  might interest you; I find him to be one of the most outwardly ‘masculine’ / muscular characters for g8. 

Very cool!  Can the head be changed/morph?  The body is perfect,  but the head is not right (for me). :D

Working on this guy, morph not quite there, need to figure out a good vulcan hair style.  By the way, one big complaint I have about Trek is that for a show that espouses Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations as a mantra, why does every alien of a given race wear identical clothing and have identical hairstyles?  This was a TNG thing because in TOS Sarek and Spock don't have identical hair, nor do the romulans we saw all have bowl haircuts.  Can't say it's too expensive because frankly dying their own hair black would have been cheaper and better looking than the dopey wigs they put on all the vulcans and romulans. 

Anyway, regardless, Spock definitely wore a bowl cut but not finding a suitable one in my runtime.  Gotta keep looking.  And tweaking the morph, or course.

Still mostly on G3 for females, split between G2M and G3M for males. I haven't embraced G8 yet because cost (all thos morph packs again, every generation!) and the complication of moving my old morphs up to G8 now that GenX is sadly no longer in development due to the untimely passing of it's creator.G8 seems to offer little to me in terms of "wow, gotta have that" over G3.  Same basic geometry and UV maps, new base poses and ability to more easily pose that cool facial bone rig thanks to integration with power pose. The power pose part is very appealing to me, the rest is like "why bother?"

For a beginner I would suggest getting Hexagon from the shop (free). You will need to learn some basic modeling techniques but there are plenty of tutorials on the internet. Daz Studio has a Hexagon bridge which allows you to send a character to Hexagon, make some changes and then send it back to Daz Studio as a morph. Once you installed Hexagon make sure to download and install the Hexagon bridge as well. It should be in your install manager. Here's an old tutorial on how to create a morph using Hexagon . The process is pretty much still the same.

You can also use ZBrush once you're familiar with creating morphs and can afford it. ZBrush is a digital sculpting program that comes with a rather hefty price tag. Using the ZBrush bridge you can also send meshes back and forth between Das Studio and Zbrush.

I just bought genx2 to give the toon generations morphs to genesis 2 figures to use in Carrara. The problem is, I can't figure it out. It says that it transfers, and the gen 3 morph comes over, but I can't seem to get the toon generations morph to do anything. It's there, and I can slide the slider, but it has zero effect. Nothing. I've been scouring the internet on tutorials, and there are some that have done other toon morphs, but I can't seem to find one on this particular morph.

Is there something I'm missing?

Are you exporting from Blender at 100%?  If not, your character will shrink when you adjust the slider to apply the morph.  Check the export options to the left.

...G3, as like some others here I have a number of shaping, morph and skin merchant resource utilities and I am now on an extremely tight budget. 

Ditto - I have almost the full set of Zev0 add-ons for G3 and I can't afford to buy the same things over and over, so it is G3 for me for the foreseeable future. I do have one G8 character - Grandmother - but even she could benefit from some Zev0 magic but, alas, I only have the G3 versions.

...I have one G8 character (supposed to be for Steph8 but works well with the base) and am hedging on another (one of the more "stylised" ones). I do have the basic body/head morphs which I was able to get at a decent discount with a coupon but that is it as I don't expect there will be another update to Gen-X.
